Accidents Happen - CLOSED

Conner walked into his mom's house. He made sure he wasn't followed considering the threat of his ex was still there. He hated not being so close to Cody, but it meant he was safe if he stayed with his parents. "Mom," he called as he shut the front door and locked it. When there wasn't an answer he began to panic until he saw the note on the fridge stating that they had gone out and would be back soon. So, he went to the living room and curled up on the couch and then turned on the TV.

After a short nap, Zoe made her way up the stairs with all of her clothes. She needed to sort them, and put them away. She also needed to put her old clothes in the hallway closet for storage until she could wear them again.

Conner woke up to the sound Cody's loud giggle. He stretched and then smiled as he met him in the hallway.

"Daddy!" Cody squealed, running towards him.

Conner scooped him up and hugged him tightly. "Hey, little man, how are you?" he asked.

"Good. Miss you and Zoe," he said.

"I know. I miss you too and so does Zoe. In fact she gave me these to give to you," he said pulling out Scooby Doo fruit snacks.

Cody's eyes went wide with excitement. "Really?"

Conner nodded. Cody wriggled out of his arms and he put him down. "Gonna make something for Zoe," he said before taking off to his room.

Conner chuckled and watched him go before turning towards his mom.

"You weren't followed right?" she asked.

He shook his head. "No. I hate that I have to be away from him, but if it keeps him safe then I will," he said.

His mom engulfed him into a hug. "I know, sweetheart," she said.

He followed his mom into the kitchen, looking forward to spending some time with Cody before heading back to see Zoe.

Zoe stared at the phone in her hand, contemplating. She wasn't sure how Conner would feel about this...but she knew somebody that could maybe help them. With a sigh, she pushed the call button. Bringing the phone up to her ear, she listened to the ringing.
"Hey dad...I need to talk to you, it's important." She said softly.

Conner hugged Cody tightly. "I'll be back in a few days, alright buddy," he said.

Cody nodded, his lip trembling. "With Zoe?"

"I'll see if she'll want to come, yeah," he said.

"Otay. Love you," he said.

"I love you too, buddy," he said kissing the top of his head.

His heart hurt knowing he had to leave his son. He held onto the drawing he had done for Zoe and gave him one last kiss before hugging his mom and leaving. He wiped a tear from the corner of his eye as he walked to his car and got in. He'd make things up to Cody as soon as he could figure out how to get his crazy ex to stop bothering them. He was careful as he left his mother's house and returned to the rest of civilization. He then headed towards Zoe's house.

Zoe knew Conner would be here any minute, and she had told her dad most of what she knew. He had come over, and after listening to her, had agreed to help them. Zoe couldn't remember a time she had ever been so glad as to have a dad for a police officer.

Conner pulled up to Zoe's house and then killed the engine. He grabbed the flowers he picked up and then headed to her front door. He knocked and then waited patiently for her to answer. He always felt super nervous whenever he was around her.

When she heard a knock at the door, Zoe stood and made her way to it, opening it for Conner to come into the house.

Conner smiled at her and leaned down pressing a kiss to her lips. "These are for you," he said holding out the flowers to her.
