New new Mibba

  • @ battalions
why bother with the "new" layout we had before then? it was sworn up and down it wasn't going to change. it looked so much better before. this one is too wide, pale and bland. nothing stands out, expect the ads. it looks like a business website.

I don't think I understand – why bother with the new layout we had before, like why bother with the old New Mibba?

yeah, what was wrong with that layout? it was pretty much perfect, sans the creepy woman at the top, but i mean like, it was centred and colourful. all i can see now is the ads, they stand out so much. really really can not do with this layout, why does it have to be so wide? its not using the space right. it doesn't even feel like mibba anymore.

  • Um. I am another person who doesn't like the new new layout. I was fine with the one before, actually I liked it a lot. But this one, well this one annoys me. When I hopped on, I thought that maybe my internet wasn't right, because it looks like how my computer loads things when the internet isn't working right. Which by the way, is far from a compliment. And last night when I tried to update my story, I had to refresh the page several times before clicking submit will work. No virus, google chrome which should work, and our internet has been better than ever, which means it would have been mibba. I mean, its up now, but it was frustrating.

  • There are too many people who don't like it who post about it in the forums then have their topics get locked. I haven't posted anything about it because I know if I say anything negative towards the constant change that whatever I say as a veteran user will get over looked. Personally, I was fine with the last layout. I preferred it over the older mibba. As many have said before, the white and blue is just so bland. I believe I may have said this in another topic about this, but it's not at all aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.

What I don't understand is, why the sudden interest in how the site looks? A year ago we were told that the site was changing, cool. On facebook pictures were posted to show us what it would look like to get us ready for the change. Then days in advance you let us know what's going to happen. So there was no big surprise when the layout changed one day. But now, out of the blue the layout is changed again with no warning whatsoever. If it took so long to change it one time, why was it changed in a matter of seconds?

I've been saying this for a long time now. The second you make a thread about something you don't like about the new Mibba, it gets locked. This has happened several times now.

I don't see why we had to change Mibba at all. The Old Mibba was fine. I really, really, really liked it. I know people seem to like this newest change, but I agree: it apparently took so long to re-code the place and now changes happen over night? At this point, we should be allowed to vote on what we want to prevent any more changes.

  • I do like this a bit more than the old new Mibba. The old new Mibba made me think of a run down coffee shop for some reason. I like how this is bright because I like bright things. The only thing I don't enjoy is how everything is aligned to the left on the boards. I wish we could center them.

Then again, I enjoy centering everything. It has always seemed more pleasing to the eye. tehe

Kurtni already explained those threads are locked because they can be included in the Things You Don't Like About Mibba thread.

  • @ Wednesday Way!
I have to agree on your alignment comment.
Why is everything on the left?
I may be right handed when I write but I can do anything with both hands.

My eyeball is not left-handed, why is this beneficial to left-eyed people?

  • Personally I liked the change before this one, I think this change is too simple & it's really not that great on iPhones (my opinion). I liked reading with it the other way, the mobile site isn't all that great & Im really confused on finding prequels & sequels, it's just not mibba anymore it's kinda boring:P I mean, I like some of it but mostly this new new change isnt really that wonderful in my opinion...

I can't pretend I know why Dujo makes every single design decision he makes. I do know that part of the reason behind this layout was to be able to keep the top bar on every page so you always have access to everything where ever you are on the site.

  • The layout is a bit bright and it bothers me how off center it looks. I just like things being centered. XD But the layout is growing on me slowly. At first, I really thought the layout was really bland and boring but the more I'm on it, the more used to it I'm getting and it's growing on me. I'm beginning to like the new layout. Nicely done.

Though I do want to point out that there seems to be a glitch with the blog layouts. When I click to preview one of the layouts, it's taking me to the members section instead. I don't know if it's doing that for anyone else, but it's doing that to me.

I feel, though, that if it pertains to the new Mibba, it should therefore be placed in that thread. Sure we could stick it in a generic forum (and have been forced into doing so), but I prefer (and I think some others would agree) that issues with new Mibba should have a header under the new Mibba forum and be discussed there. Locking disagreeable threads doesn't make any sense.

This forum isn't for complaining about things you don't like. It's for letting staff know of things that aren't working properly. So, for example, if creating story layouts are still working improperly for you, you can post about that here so it can get worked on. However, if you just want to say that you hate the update or you hate the color or you hate that you have to go to another location on Mibba to find something that used to be someplace else, that should go in the "Things You Hate..." thread. And if you have a new suggestion to make (for instance, you'd like for a link to be moved someplace more accessible), then you'd place that in the suggestion thread.

To help keep things clean and tidy, and to make sure no one's suggestions/questions/cry for help gets lost in all the threads, it's important that people post things in the correct place and that we don't get too much duplicate threads. (Ten threads on the same topic is just a waste of space and an easy way for things to get lost.)

  • I've actually done all that. Just waiting to see if anything comes of my suggestions now.

And something that isn't working: the location of date posted for chapters. I didn't even know we *had* an info tab on the synopsis page. I hardly ever go to that page. I posted an easy fix for this problem in the suggestions forum.

It's not working or you don't like where it is? Those are two different complaints. If it's actually not working, PM me and we'll figure out how to get it working again. If you just don't like where it is, post a thread in the Suggestion forum asking for it to be moved someplace more accessible.
    July 20th, 2012 at 01:57am
  • I did post in suggestions. I was promptly given on the order of five different things to click on to find it. That's what's not working. I hardly ever go into my synopsis page and I'm not going in there just to find a date. I'll just risk my posting schedule being off. So, if the point of suggestions is to point out changes that need to be made, it's not good people saying "just click in five different places". If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have suggested a change!
