Heaven's Not Enough

Binx growled louder as Cenric moved Asha, ears laid back and the hair on the back of his raised. When the growl faded, he made a sound a little like a snort and scooted over close to Asha, laying his head back in her lap with a pointed look at Cenric. Asha shook her head at the two of them, but leaned back into Cenric anyway. "This is sad, I hope you know," she told him.

Elias chuckled. "I don't know... just watching this is pretty entertaining on its own," he disagreed.

Rafe grinned at her. "Maybe I should've said more effective rather than worse," he amended. "But don't worry; I don't think I'll ever want you to stop kissing me." To prove his point, he leaned in close and kissed her gently.

Once Aspen was done eating, she sat back and gave a sigh. "I'm nice and full," she said, giving Nik a small smile.

(Didn't that happen to Nik once already? The rape part, not the pregnancy part... I remember when she finally told Aspen... I think that's what started the decision for Aspen to retire from being an archangel)

Ialu laughed at Sara's comment as Kyle rushed over, and he scooped the toddler up. "I wasn't even sure if I was staying on Earth or going home soon when I decided to move here for a bit," he explained to Sara. "So I only brought what I needed with me. And this is why I told you I could handle it on my own."

Cenric shrugged, back to ignoring the wolf, "Don't care. I have you in my lap while he gets leftovers. That's why cats rule and dogs drool."

Ryn smiled up at Elias, "That is very true. Very true."

Iona sighed softly against his lips, her arms returning to wrap around him. She brought him closer, opening her mouth to his as her eyes slid shut.

Nik grinned, "Good. That being said, you gave me way to much food. Would you like to finish it or do you want me to put it back in the fridge?"

((That's right! I knew something like that happened to her..... nevermind XD))

Sara laughed, walking closer as Kyle rested his head on Ialu's shoulders, his spiderman pajamas already on, "Well, it all makes sense now." She ruffled Kyle's hair, "I was just about to put Kyle to bed."

Asha shook her head at Cenric, going back to petting Binx. "Well, tonight's going to be interesting," she said. Binx was used to sleeping in the bed with her, and she had a feeling he was going to try and wedge himself in the middle.

Elias nodded, kissing Ryn's cheek.

As she opened her mouth to kiss, Rafe deepened the kiss and held Iona close, loving the feel and taste of her. When finally they broke apart, he had a grin plastered to his lips.

Aspen gave Nik a small grin. "Sorry about that. I can put it back in the fridge for you if you want..." she'd made sure to get plenty for herself, so she was nice and full. Apparently she'd accidentally given Nik a lot too though.

(haha okay. I was wondering if you remembered. I didn't think that happening to her a second time would be very good for Nik... or Aspen)

"I thought it might," Ialu smiled, and glanced over at Kyle, who seemed to have made himself pretty comfortable. "And sorry I interrupted... I can put him in bed if you want." He bounced Kyle briefly. "How does that sound to you?"

Cenric nuzzled his face playfully into her neck, "I am king of the jungle. I will win." Still his leopard sent out a friendly chuff to Binx, wanting the wolf to know his cat really didn't mean any harm.

Iona saw his grin and lifted her eyebrows, "You seem quite pleased with yourself."

Nik laughed and shook her head, "I can get it, you stay sitting." Nik pressed a kiss to her cheek, then stood. She took her food to the kitchen and returned it to the fridge. When she returned to the table she sat once more, "I hate to say this... but I honestly don't now what to talk about."

[((Yeah. Nik would probably go and blame herself and Aspen may go crazy in her overprotectiveness.))

Kyle grinned and nodded, "Yay! You can read me my story!"

Sara sighed, a smile on her face, "He'll try to weasel his way out of going to sleep, so you'll want to stay strong." she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Kyle's cheek, "Don't try to convince him too hard, okay?"

Kyle grinned at at Sara, "I wouldn't do any of that."

"Win? I didn't know there was a competition going on." Asha shook her head, relaxing in Cenric's lap as Binx let out a sound that was like a snort, his ears giving a small flick. Otherwise, he seemed perfectly content.

"I do?" Rafe and chuckled. "Good, because I am." I gave her another kiss, this one quicker, and pulled away. "Come on," he said, sitting up and offering his hand. "Let's go find some food."

Aspen offered Nik a smile. "Yeah, I think I'm with you there... I don't really know what to talk about either," she admitted as she reached out to take Nik's hand.

(Yeah... it wouldn't be pretty xD)

Ialu chuckled. "Okay, Kyle, I'll read you a story," he said. "Just one, and then you get to go to bed." He looked over to Sara for approval. "How does that sound to you?"

Cenric grinned, "There's always a competition when it comes to felines and canines." He laughed, "You should see my mom when it comes to werewolves-"

Ryn snarled, glaring daggers at her son, "Don't even think about talking to them."

Iona put her hand in Rafe's allowing him to pull her up. She straightened her clothes and sent a smile up at him, "Do I need to change? This is going to be a casual dinner, right?"

Nik laced their fingers and pressed a kiss to her knuckles, "How about a nap? Resting and sleeping is on your list, right?"

((I was just trying to think of something to happen with them xD))

Sara laughed, "If you think you won't give in." Kyle whooped and kicked his legs, "Come on! I wanna hear about Peter Pan and Captain Hook!"

Asha frowned in confusion, glancing between Cenric's grin and Ryn's glare. "I feel like I'm missing something here..."

"You might want to keep it that way and let the subject fade," Elias advised Asha, though he also spoke in part to Cenric and Ryn as well.

"You look perfect," Rafe reassured Iona, kissing her cheek, and then went to retrieve the cane he'd been using earlier. He could walk without it, but it made it more comfortable and easier. And as long as no one else barreled into him, he would be fine.

"Yes, sleeping is on my list, but spending time with you is at the top of that list... above sleeping," Aspen responded. She gave Nik a smile. "I'm all for some cuddling and a nap and all that, but you don't really look sleepy."

(Yeah, it would've been a good idea had that not already happened once ^-^)

"Nah, I should be fine," Ialu reassured Sara with a smile, about the same time Kyle cheered and asked for the story he wanted to hear. "Better go find the book then," he chuckled. "Because I'm not sure I know that one..." Ialu had grown up with stories like all kids, but he hadn't grown up with human stories and there was the difference.

Cenric stared at his mom and dad, slowly leaning in to Asha. He acted like he was going to whisper, but instead he said in a normal tone, in a rapid manner of speaking, "Before mom met uncle Shax she travelled the world alone. She ran into a werewolf pack, got buddy buddy with the alpha, who then betrayed her to one of uncle Shax's evil brothers. That's how she-"

Ryn snarled at the memory about to launch up, "I swear I'm going to hunt down that bastard and..." she continued her rambling, her cat ruffled with fury.

Iona waited until Rafe was ready, wrapping her arm around his free arm, "So, once we get on the street... which direction are we going to take?"

Nik shrugged, "I don't mind cuddling," she said softly, "And I've missed just laying with you. I have a lot of solo nights to make up."

Kyle wiggled down, then ran to his room. He returned quickly with the book in his hands, waving it in the air, "Here!" He jumped back into Ialu's arms.

Elias held Ryn close, his cat coming to the surface to try and soothe hers, and he shot his son a look that said he didn't appreciate Cenric getting his mother like this. "Calm down, Ryn. That was a lifetime ago. He's probably dead by now, too."

Asha wasn't really sure how to react, but she thought she knew where the story was going. It would make make sense with Ryn's reaction... "Well, that's just one werewolf. They can't all be bad. That's like saying all demons are like my dad's brothers, and we all know that's not true," she pointed out, mostly talking to Cenric since Ryn was rambling and Elias was attempting to calm her down.

"We're going to turn right and head up the street. That's where the pain portion of town is, where I took you last time you were here," Rafe told her, leading the way outside.

Aspen smiled, leaning over to give Nik a kiss. "Okay then, cuddling and laying around it is," she said. "If I'm honest, I've really missed it too." Then again, she'd missed just about everything that had to do with Nik.

Ialu caught Kyle and took the book with a smile. "Okay then, I guess I'm reading you Peter Pan," he said. He sent Sara a small smile as he carried Kyle back to his room and laid his son down in his bed, tucking the cover over him before he sat down on the edge. "You ready?" he asked.

Ryn leaned back into Elias and crossed her arms over her chest, "I hope he's dead. Him and his whole damn pack."

Cenric nodded, "That's a good point, except this whole pack was bad. They'd tied mom up and... well..." Cenric shrugged, "Dogs will be dogs, I suppose. Luckily no one was brave enough to truly touch her after she castrated the first one who'd tried."

Iona nodded, recognizing the area from her memories, "Ah. Right." She lead Rafe that way, making sure to keep her pace easy on him.

Nik smiled, "And, if I get bored of just laying there, I can always read. I picked up a few books from earth. They have so many different genres down there."

Kyle lay back in his bed and nodded, "Ready!"

Sara moved to sit on the count, sighing out as she rested.

Elias fought the urge to chuckle at Ryn and hid his smile while he was at it as he pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "I'm sure they are," he soothed.

"Well... that's... information I didn't need," Asha said with a shake of her head, attempting to get a mental image out of her head. Binx made an unhappy sound at her, presumably since she'd jostled him a bit, and he nudged her hand. Rolling her eyes, she petted him some more. "How can you be so completely indifferent and mean to everyone and be such a big baby around me?" she asked without expecting an answer.

Rafe appreciated Iona going slower for him, and even walking with a limp, he found he was enjoying just walking with her. Soon they were in the midst of town and walking among the angels of Heaven along with various shops and restaurants. "See anywhere that just sticks out as somewhere you'd like to eat at?" he asked after some time.

Aspen laughed. "My little bookworm," she said fondly, giving Nik a smile. "You better go ahead and put the book within reach. I'm not going to want to let you go once we lay down."

Ialu smiled, then opened up the book and started to read to Kyle. A while later, he emerged from Kyle's room, leaving the door open just a crack, and then went to find Sara, ending up sitting on the other side of the couch from her. "He's either pretending to be asleep, or actually fell asleep while I was reading," he told her.

Ryn relaxed into Elias, "I want to kill them all over again."

Cenric rolled his eyes, "It's because he's a dog. They can't think with their brains and so have to connect to someone to survive."

Iona shrugged, "I really don't mind. You're the one who's been gone for so long. Is there anywhere you would like to eat?"

Nik laughed, "I already have one on the bedside table. I stayed in your room while here. I felt closer to you that way."

Sara opened her eyes and looked at him, a smile on her face, "So how many stories did he ask for?" She laughed, "Did he fight you at all?"

"I know." Elias held her close as she relaxed into him, his cat still working at soothing hers as well.

Asha gave Cenric a look. "Stop being mean. He's a wolf, not a dog, and he survives just fine without me. I don't remember ever feeding or watering him." She reached up and kissed his cheek. "You're grumpy today," she said as she finished petting Binx and relaxed in Cenric's arms.

"Honestly, I'll eat pretty much anything," Rafe admitted to her with a small grin. "But I do know a place close by that has some really good food if you want to check it out."

"I guess that works then," Aspen grinned at Nik and hopped up, using their entwined hands to bring Nik up as well. She did make an effort to be gentle though, as opposed to just yanking Nik up.

"He actually seemed content with just Peter Pan," Ialu admitted to Sara. "I'm guessing it's usually not nearly that easy though, and he was being nice to me," he smiled.

Cenric sighed, wrapping his arms around her and resting his cheek to her hair, "I'm sorry. I'm not really grumpy... just instinctual. I can live with Binx, but my cat does get a little ruffled with canines around."

"Then lead the way," she said softly, lightly laying her head against his upper arm, "I'm up for trying something new," she squeeze his hand, definitely not leaning too far into him.

Nik followed Aspen, now resting against her. She wrapped her arms around her, resting her head to Aspen's chest. She lay there in silence for quite a time, idly playing with Aspen's shirt, "The war... it must be difficult being back after being gone for so long."

Sara smiled, "No. Normally he asks for multiple stories. 'Just one more', he asks, a smile on his face." She sighed, laying her cheek back against the couch, lifting her feet to rest on the cushions as she turned to face him, "And it's so hard to say no to him."

"I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better, he's actually behaving himself at the moment," Asha told Cenric, offering him a small smile as she relaxed in his arms, enjoying having him near.

Rafe smiled, gently squeezing her hand back and led them in the direction of the restaurant. Soon they made it and were seated at a table for two pretty quickly. Rafe even pulled out Iona's chair for her with a wink before he sat down in his own chair.

---

As they laid down in the bed, Aspen wrapped her arms around Nik and held her close, enjoying the feel of being able to have Nik in her arms again. "It's not so bad actually... I'm relieved to be back and away from Purgatory. It wasn't a particularly nice place."

Ialu chuckled, smiling. "Yeah, I can see that... I suppose I'll get that treatment next time," he said. "I figure he just decided to be nice to me this time around or something." He leaned back into the couch, turned so that he could face Sara though.

Cenic nuzzled his face into Asha's neck, "I know that, but it's so fun messing with him," He teased pressing a kiss to the area where her neck meets her shoulder.

Iona scooted her chair further to the table, giving Rafe a smile, "Thank you," she said softly, "This place is very nice," she looked around, taking in the atmosphere. As the waitress walked up she ordered an iced tea.

"I bet," Nik said softly, dropping her head back and giving Aspen a smile, "It must also be different being back home. Is it a difficult transition?"

Sara wrapped her arms around her upraised knees, giving Ialu a smile, "I'm sure he'll eventually show his true colors to you" She rested her head to the side, "About your stuff," She began, "do you need anything else?" She asked, "You have so little..."

Where Cenric kissed was very near his mark, and the kiss made her want to just lean more into him and relax, but also made her want to turn and kiss him too, and she ended up squirming a little in his lap instead. Binx's response was to move his head out of Asha's lap so he wasn't jostled around, and he gave the two of them a flat look that was almost a glare.

Rafe just asked for water with a lemon slice in it, and after they'd ordered their drinks, they were given menus to look at. "It is nice," he answered Iona with a smile as their waitress moved off. "And I don't think they make anything that tastes bad here, so whatever you order is pretty much guaranteed to taste amazing."

Aspen smiled softly at Nik. "Hmm, in some ways... there are certain things that you just fall back into. Like... you kind of want a bath first thing and can't wait to have a nice, hot meal or to sleep in your own bed. Or kiss the person you've been wanting to see for months." With a grin, she pressed a kiss to Nik's lips. "That part is easy. The difficult part is... harder to explain. It's letting your guard down and not sleeping with one eye open or just waiting to be attacked. That takes time. You're kind of... wound up for a while until you adjust."

Ialu smiled softly at Sara. "I have everything I need to live, if that's what you're asking," he reassured her. "I might bring more stuff from home, by which I mean my room at my parents', later. I just... I know you asked me to move in, and I'm thrilled to be here with you and Kyle, but I guess I just want to make sure it's all okay before. I guess that means once things settle down and all..."

Cenric chuckled and sat back a little, brushing the hair from her face, "Would you like to go home, mate?" He asked softly, hands trailing up and down her arms

Iona grinned at him, "Well, thank you for letting me know. What's your favorite meal?" She asked, looking through the menu. She idly turned the pages, glancing at the food choices.

Nik pressed her palm to Aspen's cheek, "I'm so sorry," She said softly, caressing her cheek, "If it helps, I stay up when you need to sleep. I might not know how to fight, but I can raise an alarm." she leaned forward once more and pressed a kiss to her lips.

Sara shrugged, "Kyle... wants you here. And he needs you. If his powers spike again..." She sighed, "It's safer with you here." She gave him a smile, "And it'll help me to know that he's safe."
