Unique Love [Closed]

He sighed since that wasn't exactly what he had meant, actually, it was the exact opposite. They wouldn't be able to handle the fact that he didn't want to be the guy who hooked up with other girls or drank till he could no longer keep the liquor down. "Mariah..." He quietly called as the bell rang and she quickly made her retreat. Jake tried to follow after her without being too obvious but lost her after some time. With another sigh, he retreated to his locker and gave a half-assed grin to the girl as she walked by. Jake had English next so he gathered his stuff and went off to class.

She gave a shrug once he had noticed the expression on her face, it seemed to be too obvious that she didn't want to go home. Once they stopped at the light, he glanced over at her and she caught his eye. "I.. It isn't like I have a horrible life at home.. It's just terribly boring. I rarely get time to see friends or get let out of the house. The only reason why my dad let me go with you is because you are a business partner. Otherwise, forget it." Lilly felt like she was some sort of pawn that was being shifted around the board whenever it was convenient.

Mariah sat on the bleachers and really wanted to go home. Mariah got up when the bell ran and made her way to her next class. Mariah sat there and tapped her fingers on her desk. She frowned when Jake sat down next to her. She looked down at her notebook,not really listening to the teacher. Mariah was just frustrated with him anymore, I don't know how much longer i can do this. She laid the note on his desk then looked back at the board.

Marcus nodded, "Well in that case did you wanna get something to drink?" He asked. He was kind of hoping she would say yes. He didn't want her to be unhappy if he took her home. Marcus smiled as he looked over at her thn the traffic started to move.

Disappearing off to class, he silently hoped that Mariah would be alright. Jake wasn't exactly sure what he would do if he found her crying off somewhere, especially knowing that it was his fault. He frowned a little to himself as he moved off to class and sat down in the seat. This would be the slowest period ever. After the bell rang, he moved off to his next class and hoped that he would see her there. Jake exhaled as he saw her in the far back corner of the class and moved into the seat next to her. He offered her a smile only to be ignored by Mariah and sighed. When the class period started, he continuously tried to get her attention every single time a friend looked away or wasn't paying attention before receiving a note on his desk. What do you mean? It's not like I don't love you anymore, Mariah. He tossed her back the note and with a frown.

Lilly blinked over at him, completely surprised by the initiative that he was taking. Was this really okay for him to be taking her to something other than tennis? Not that she would end of telling her father anyway. "Yeah, sure. That'd be great." She smiled over at him thinking that she liked the fact that he understood her plight.

Mariah looked at the note in front of her then began to right in her neat hand writing, I mean that i'm sick of you acting like you can only love me when we are alone. So either you tell them or we are done....Permanently....Sorry. Mariah could feel her heart breaking as she handed him the note and looked down at the pen in her hand, sighing.

Marcus nodded then drove to a local restuarant that he knew. "You can order whatever you want." He said as he sat down across from her and opened his menu. He was excited to get to know her a little better than he already did.

The notes that were exchanged only seemed to become progressively worse as he frowned at the note that he received. Her words seemed to be so at peace despite the fact that she was breaking his heart. I don't act like I can only love you when we are alone. He took his pencil off of the paper, trying to formulate the right words. I can't believe that you're throwing away this relationship because of some stupid reason like I won't tell other people. Do you really care about what other people think that much? This isn't you, Mariah. Not the girl I know.

She smiled as she moved into the seat across from him and looked around the restaurant in amazement. It had been her first time in one of these local chain restaurants that her father refused to take her to. "This is so cool. I've never been inside one of these before." Lilly told him as she looked down at the menu excited to see what they offered.

Mariah looked at the note he wrote and narrowed her eyes at him. She looked back at the paper, So...you can worry about what people think but when i do it then it's wrong? I don't see what the big deal is and why you won't tell them! She crumbled the paper into a ball and threw it at him as the bell rang then stood up and left the room.

Marcus looked at her, "Really?" He asked as he looked over his menu. "I think this is one of the best restuarants that there is around here." He said as he looked back at his menu. He was so glad to have someone to spend time with him.

Catching the ball of paper, he groaned as she walked out of the room when the bell rang. Why did she have to be so difficult like this all the time? They were going to graduate in a few months anyway so there wasn't even a point in telling his friends. His friends wouldn't understand that fact that he wanted to be in a relationship with someone. For them, it was all about girls and partying and living the single life. Jake sighed as he moved from his chair before one of his friends asked if he would be alright.

Lilly couldn't help but feel a blush spread across her face, knowing that it was a little embarrassing that she hadn't done something so mundane before. "Yeah... My dad is always saying that we need to go places that are formal and never to a simple family restaurant." She bit her lip slightly at all the choices that were available since they all seemed really good. "Do you have something in particular that you could suggest?"

Mariah went to her house after school was over and sat down on the couch. She ran her fingers through her hair as she started on her homework. Mariah really wasn't sure what to say to Jake anymore at this point. She was just annoyed with everything and wanted to relax.

Marcus smiled, "Well these are the best kinds. Try this." He said pointing to one of the pasta dishes they had on the menu. "I have always like that one a lot." He said as he took a sip of his drink. He looked over when the waiter walked up again and asked about what they wanted to eat.

Jake wasn't sure what to say Mariah anymore to keep her off of his back about telling his friends everything. Driving home, he sighed as he stopped at one of the local liquor stores where he was friends with owner and bought a pack of beer. He really needed to just blow off some steam. Once he got home, he went upstairs and locked himself out from the rest of the world.

Leaning slightly over the table, she looked at what he was pointed to before feasting her eyes on one of the pasta dishes. She just hoped that it looked as good as it tasted. "Okay, I'll go with your suggestion then." Once the waiter asked her what she wanted, she leaned back in her seat with a content smile on her face; she liked spending time with him.

Mariah finished her homework then took a shower. She got ready for bed then laid down and watched tv in her room. She hadn't talked to Jake an she was wondering if maybe he really didn't want to be with her anymore. She knew she had been harsh but she figured he would just give in and tell his friends. Now she felt bad about all of this.

Marcus smiled, "Good." He said as he looked at the waitress. He ordered his food then leaned back against his chair and took a sip of his drink. He couldn't wait for their food to get there so he could finally eat something and relax. He wasn't feeling as nervous around her.

Ironically, Jake thought that the way to sort out his thoughts would be to take another drink. He sat down on his bed after throwing the next bottle into the garbage can and opened the next. Did Mariah really expect him to tell all of his friends that he could no longer hang out with them because he had a girlfriend? She had practically given him an ultimatum and that was something that he didn't appreciate.

Taking a sip of her water, she glanced over at him as he rocked back on the chair. A part of her expected him to fall backwards but she would never say that to him. "How often do you usually come here?" Lilly asked since it seemed like some of the staff recognized him but seemed a little intimidated to talk to him.

Mariah sighed as she closed her eyes and couldn't sleep. She kept thinking about Jake and she sighed as she stood up. She pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie of his she had then went to his house. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she texted him to tell him she was on his porch.

Marcus leaned forward and looked at her, "Pretty often actually. I mean i don't really like to eat at my house alone all the time so i come here instead." He said, shrugging slightly. Marcus was use to going out to eat because it was just a hassle for him to cook for himself.

After finishing his third beer, he heard sound of his phone buzzing and frowned to see that it had been from Mariah. Jake sighed wondering if it was another demanding note where she would threaten to break up with him again if he didn't tell his friends. It seemed like that was how all of their conversations went lately. Opening up the text, he saw that it said that she was on his front porch. He confused as to what she needed to say from him as he made his way down the stairs and out onto the front porch. "What are you doing here?" He asked since was still somewhat sober.

Lilly nodded her head, although she didn't know what it felt like, she could only imagine that it would be hard to cook in a house by herself. She had never picked up a frying pan before so the chances of her burning down the house were great. "I don't go out much, which you probably already assumed, so this is a nice change."

Mariah looked at him, "I just really feel bad about what i said earlier." She whispered. She ran her fingers through her hair, "I wanted to come see you and apologize for being such a bitch." She said.

Marcus smiled, "WEll you need to get out more." He teased. He looked up as their food arrived then took a bite of his. HE was so glad to have someone to spend time with. He looked at her after she tried her food, "You like it?" He asked.

He paused for a moment before sighing, not sure how to react to it. "I know.. I know you didn't mean it about the whole break up thing. Come here." Jake opened his arms for her before gesturing for her to come so he could hug her.

She gave a small scoff as she felt her jaw drop slightly,"If I could go out more, I would. Trust me. We can switch lives and you can see how hard it is to get out of the house for a moment." Raising an eyebrow at him, she watched as the food finally came out and was placed in front of them. If it smelled as amazing as it tasted, she would be coming here more often, somehow. Lilly took a forkful of the pasta and started to nod since she was taught not speak with her mouthful. After she swallowed, she smiled,"That was delicious."

Mariah wrapped her arms around him, holding him tightly, "I'm sorry Jakey." She said as she let her hands run up his back. She rested her head on his chest, closing her eyes as she relaxed against him. She opened them when she saw the hall light behind him turn on and his mom step into view, "Jake who's at the door?" She asked. She knew about them and she actually liked Mariah.

Marcus smiled, "I'm glad that you liked it." He said as he paid the bill when they were done. He stood up with her, walking otu of the resturant. "I guess i should return you to your prison." HE teased as he got in the car. He started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

As she walked into his arms, he enclosed them around her and rested his chin on top of her head. Jake felt wave of relief wash over him that this whole entire fighting thing was going to be over and things would go back to normal for them. Seeing the light turn on, he picked up his head and separated from Mariah before seeing his mother come into view,"Mariah and I were just have a small talk, Mom. We're fine."

She finished up the rest of her food and felt positively full by the time she was done. Lilly was ready to take a nap from all of the eating as she slid into the passenger side of the car. "I really don't want to go back." She admitted when she buckled herself in and glanced down at the ground. He really couldn't have kept her any longer though otherwise her father would start to worry.

Mariah watched as his mom looks at them and then walked away. Mariah looked at Jake, lacing her fingers with his. "I love you." She said softly a she kisse him.

Marcus looked at her, "Yea but if I keep you then it's kidnapping." He said, winking at her. He laughed softly then started driving to her house. He parked in her driveway "I had in today." He told her.

He glanced over at his mother as she silently watched before moving back into the house probably knowing that they needed space. Turning his attention back to her, Jake gently kissed the top of her head. "Yeah, I love you, too." He responded back.

Lilly let a chuckle escape her mouth thinking that she might have not minded that he was going to kidnap her. Although, her excitement started to die down as he pulled into her drive way. This was the end of their adventure. "Me too. We should do this again soon so I can finally kick your butt in tennis." She gave a small grin to him.

Mariah smiled, "then looked at their hands. "I should get going." She said softly. She looked up at him, letting her eyes meet his. Mariah knew she may have overreacted but she didn't want to lose Jake for good. She was just going to have to get over the fact that he would probably never tell his friends.

Marcus smirked,"Oh you will never beat me at tennis." He said. He ran his fingers through his hair, "Bye Lilly." He said as eh watched her get out of the car. He watched as she walked inside then pulled out of the driveway. The next day Marcus walked into the office, sighing at his put his things down on his desk. He picked up his phone when it rang, hearing that he was needed in Lilly's dad's office. He put the phone down then walked down the hallway and into his office.
