Unique Love [Closed]

Mariah sighed as she watched him leave then went up to her bedroom. She got ready for bed, laying down. She held her phone in her hand as she closed her eyes, hoping Jake would call like he said he would. She slowly fell asleep as she held her phone tightly.

Marcus smiled, "Yes you are going to lose Saturday." He said, laughing softly. He threw away his empty beer bottle then looked at her. "I should get going i have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. You're father took off so i will be taking his place." He said. "Wish me luck." He said. "I was nice meeting you Lilly i will see you saturday." He said as he walked off.

Jake left her house and drove over to the party that was just a few streets down from Mariah's place. His friends all greeted him with cheers and a red cup as he walked into the room. It was always the same routine with the guys: go to the party, get drunk, hook up with a girl, and then don't remember the next morning who it even was. At first, it was cheap thrills but now it was just.. boring. After a few drinks, he decided that it was time for him to go home as he stumbled a little out to car. Jake had a sudden urge to call up Mariah, remembering that he had promised her something before. "Hellllllo? Mariah? I know you're there.... I'm, uh, on the way home. Didn't hook up with a girl, okay? My friends... tried to, you know, but.. uh.. I made up some excuse." He told her slurring some of his words in the process.

"Think whatever you want to." She countered with a slight shrugging knowing that she was totally going to win that game. Her competitive spirit wouldn't allow her to lose this one. "Oh, okay. I wish you luck." Lilly gave him a smile as he walked off and gave a sign once he was no longer in sight. There was the only interesting person of the party. Right out of the door. A few moments later her father rejoined her to take her around to meet more of his business partners.

Mariah slept silently missing Jake's phone call. She woke up when her phone buzzed again when she got the voicemail. Mariah listened to it and frowned when she heard how drunk he sounded. She called him, hoping he was home and would pick up. She bit her bottom lip lightly as the phone rang. Mariah kept hoping he was okay and didn't hurt himself.

That saturday Marcus bounced the tennis ball, hearing it hit the court below him. He looked at Lilly, "You ready?" He asked her. Marcus wasn't sure if he should take it easy on her or not. Marcus served then hit the ball back to her once she hit it.

He gave a laugh once he realized that he had just gone straight to her voicemail,"Ooookay, then. I'm gonna go home now." Jake then hung up the phone and got into his truck before driving back home. He was used to driving drunk and was pretty confident in his skills. Luckily, he managed to get home safely before stumbling into his house. His parents seemed to have gone out for the night and weren't home yet anyway. Jake felt a light buzzing in his pocket before pulling out his phone to see that it was Mariah,"Hello? Didja get my message.. b-before?"

"Definitely." She confidently stated as he served the ball and she hit it back to him effortlessly with a smile. This game was going to be easy. Lilly had been excited the whole entire night thinking about the game and being able to spend some more time with him.

Mariah was relieved when he answered his phone, "Yes i got your message. Are you home now?" She asked. She was glad that he was safe and not hurt. She hated when he would drink and drive. IT scared her more than anything. Mariah really loved Jake even though he hid their relationship. She couldn't imagine not being with him. All she wished for was that he would tell his friends.

Marcus hit the ball back to her and got a little more aggressive as the game went on. The sweat slowly started to form on his biceps as they played. He loved playing sports like this it was so much fun for him. He also like spending time with Lilly.

[Lol, I didn't even notice it. If you could, that would be great cause I won't get the chance to be on that much today.]

Jake gave a laugh since he thought that it was pretty obvious that he had gotten home. "Of course. I am not gonna answer the phone while driving. That's illegal you know!" He pointed out even though it was painfully ironic. He started to head upstairs to his room before tripped on one of the steps and almost falling. "I'm okay.. I'm okay." Jake gave a laugh as he continued onward.

The game continued onward as both of them seemed to score right after another. It was going to be a draw if it this continued. Lilly felt herself starting to sweat and rubbed her forehead with the band she was wearing on her wrist. "Not that bad." She yelled out across to him as she returned the ball again.

Mariah shook her head, "How much did you drink?" She asked. she hated when he would get that drunk. Mariah sighed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

Marcus smiled as he hit the ball back, seeing he scored, "Finally." He said, laughing softly. He was glad ge had scored.

As he groped his way through the darkness, Jake eventually made it up to his bedroom before flopping down onto his bed and turning onto his side. "Hmm... A few beers... A couple shots... Maybe. I don't remember." He admitted with a slight laugh as her voice sounded so concerned. He was completely fine.

She let out a frustrated groan as he scored on her to win the set and gave a frown. It wasn't like her to lose to just anyone. "Are you sure that this sport isn't just a hobby for you?" Lilly questioned having a hard time accepting that she had just lost the game to him.

[I found one. I hope you like it. I think it's cute because he's holding a puppy ]

Mariah sighed, "Well you sound pretty drunk." She said. She knew it wouldn't be long before he passed out. Mariah ran her fingers through her hair as she sat on her bed then turned off her light and laid back on her bed. "Are we going to hang out tomorrow?" She asked.

Marcus laughed, "Did i mention i took lessons for ten years?" He said. He smirked lightly, "You're serve hun." He said. He held his racket in his hand as he waited for her to serve. He hit the ball back, watching her movements for a few seconds then hit it again.

"Hah, Mariah, I am fine. I can walk in a straight line and pass that police test thingy." He reassured her as he laughed and turned onto his side to go to sleep. Jake closed his eyes to rest them for a moment before completely passing out before he could even reply to her question. She could hear him lightly snore through the phone as it slid out of his hand.

Lilly narrowed her eyes at him as she pulled out another tennis ball from her pocket before serving it over to him. "No, I think you forgot to mention that slight detail." She replied as she hit back the ball into his court.

[Yes and Mariah has a cat so it works XD]

Mariah sighed, "Night." She said, rolling her eyes. She hung up the phone then slowly fell asleep. She woke up the next morning and got dressed Mariah walked into school that day as she talked with her friend. She saw Jake who looked complete hungover and his outfit looked like he just didn't care what he was wearing. Yet he still managed to look sexy in sweatpants and a hoodie.

Marcus laughed then hit the ball back to her. He smirked as he scored again, "I think you need to practice a little more." He teased. Though he wasn't trying to seem like an ass. He just enjoyed friendly competition. Marcus smiled as she served again.

[Sorry, I was so sure that I had replied to this..]

The next morning he awoke to the sound of his alarm clock and gave a groan since he still had a headache from the previous night. Jake moved about the room, just trying to find something on the floor to wear. He didn't even care it even matched as that point as he pulled on a hoodie and sweatpants. It was pretty obvious that he felt like complete crap. His friends came up behind him as he walked into the building and practically knocked him over. Jake still was half asleep.

"Oh, I have plenty of practice. I am just a little off today." She came up with a poor counter and as she reached to go for the ball but couldn't run fast enough. Lilly gave a frown over to him as she served the tennis ball once more.

Mariah sat at her desk in class then opened her book. She glanced up as Jake walked in and sat behind her. Mariah was a little upset that he would drive home drunk but she didn't say anything and wouldn't. He did that all the time so it wasn't like he was going to change his ways now. Mariah sat there leaned back against her seat as she watched the teacher flip through a slide show.

Marcus hit the ball back to her and smiled. He liked that she gave him a little bit of competition. Marcus watched as the ball went out and he won. Marcus walked off the court and took a swig of his water. He offered her an extra bottle that he had with him.

As he moved into his first class, he slid his way into the seat behind Mariah before giving a sigh. He just wanted to get some rest and now he had to listen to the teacher lecture about World War II. Who wanted to hear about that? Jake glanced around the room to see that most people had decided to spend their time on their phones or sleeping before poking Mariah lightly,"Hey."

She ran with all her might to reach the ball but barely missed it as it bounced out of bounds. Lilly's calves burned as she panted as she had trouble believing that she had just lost to Marcus. "You... You got lucky. Next time, I will definitely win." She defiantly replied as she took the water and gulped it down.

Mariah felt him poke her, "Hi." she said softly, looking at him for a moment. She wanted so badly to kiss him, but she couldn't here. "How you feeling?" She whispered. She let her eyes meet his then turned back around when his friend glanced over.

Marcus smiled, "Keep dreaming." He said, then finished his water. Marcus looked at her then put his racket in his the bag he had for it. Marcus looked at her, letting his eyes trail up her legs. His eyes met hers and he cleared his throat before standing up.

He gave her a small smirk as she turned around to return the greeting. Looking at her, he didn't even realize that his friend had glanced over in their direction until she turned back around. Jake searched his brain for an explanation before mouthing that he was just asking something about class. His friend was a bit confused since Jake hadn't cared about this class before but shrugged before going back to his work. "I have this horrible hangover." He admitted back to her after he made sure that the coast was clear once more.

"Hah, that's funny." She countered after finishing up the bottle of water and throwing it into one of the recycling bins. Lilly bent over to pick up the towel from the ground to wipe the sweat off of her forehead but couldn't help but glanced over at Marcus. Her eyes trailed up the curve of his bicep before returning back to his face. Quickly, she hid her gaze behind the towel.

Mariah didn't say anything as she listened to her speak, "That's what you get for not calling me to come get you last night." She whispered. She was upset that he drove himself home and she always hated that. "Scared your friends might see me pick you up?" She asked. Mariah was glad that everyone was ignoring them in the class so they could actually talk.

Marcus smiled, "I should get you home." He said as he cleaned up his things. He looked at her then walked to his car with her. Marcus put his things in the back then got in. He liked spending time with her. Probably more than he should though.

"I was fine, Mariah." Jake reiterated not seeing a problem with what he was doing. As long as he got home safely, it shouldn't have mattered how he got home. He could still tell that she was upset from last night, not that he blamed her. He groaned as quietly as possible once she started to bring up the fact that he hadn't told his friends yet. "It just hadn't been the right time, okay? You know how they are."

She gave a slow nod once he suggested taking her back home to her house not exactly wanting to go back yet. Although, she probably shouldn't have admitted that to anyone, including herself. It wasn't right for her to be liking a business partner of her father's. "Yeah, sure." Lilly replied as she gathered her stuff and placed them into his car as well. She moved into the passenger seat of the car before buckling herself in.

Mariah tapped her pen on her desk as she grew angry, "Well then maybe they should be your girlfriend because they are so wonderful." She said through her teeth. She heard the bell ring then got up and walked out, without even glancing at him. She threw her books in her locker, shutting the door. She glared at Jake when she saw some girl giggling as she walked with him. Mariah frowned as she grabbed her back and walked out of the school. She had a free period so she decided to go catch up on some homework out on the bleachers near the football field. She sat down and opened her book.

Marcus looked at her, "You don't seem to thrilled to go home." He said, laughing softly as he stopped at a stop sign. He continued to drive then glanced over at her, "You alright?" He asked her as they got in a traffic jam. Which he wasn't happy about because he hated traffic.
