Hey guys! Bec and I put together a quick Prologue. The idea behind it was to kind of...give everyone an idea of how deep the friendship runs. There is a memory associated with each girl and each summer, if you want something changed just let me know! I tried to come up with something that I thought kind of fit each girl.
Friendship is a lot of things.
It's love and laughter, and protection and forgiveness.
It's pinky promises and mending broken hearts.
It's summer nights and sneaking out.
It was the summer of '08, when Jaiden had her first job at the bakery and subsequently got fired for dolling out free cupcakes to the girls who were all crazy over the red velvet.
It was the summer of '09, when Harper stole her step-mothers car to ensure her four best friends got to the Rihanna concert— and they would have made it, had she not missed her turn and plowed over a souvenir stand.
It was the summer of '10, when Evie would suffer her first heartbreak, leading to Charlie, Jaiden, Bambi and Harper's first brush with the law. (Because, Apparently, breaking a guys nose is assault, while spray painting 'wanker!' on the side of his Fiat was vandalism.)
It was the summer of '11, when Charlie called frantic from a holding cell at the local police station. She had been caught sneaking into a club even though she was underage, her motive was innocent— she just wanted to dance. Regardless, the night ended with her kneeing a bouncer in the groin (after calling him a royal arsehole).
It was the summer of '12, when they dared Bambi to streak across the football field as the freshmen gathered for their first practice.
Or the summer of 2013.
The one the girls knew would be their last.
It would become the summer of the pact.
The summer that would forever change their lives.
