"I could hear your heart beating quickly when you entered the room." She pointed out with a small shake of the head. Although, she did have the advantage with her senses that she would not admit to. "If you can scare me, I am sure that you can scare anyone."

"Hello, Mr. Thomas. Mrs. Thomas." He greeted when he met the gaze of both parents. They were not thrilled to see that their daughter had invited back Nick into her life, but she was happy. "Thank you for allowing me to stay in your home." He sat down at the table after pulling out a seat for Emma.

Sam chuckled lightly and shook his head. "Well you're the reason my heart is beating so quickly my love." He said with a chuckle and ran his hand through his hair. "I don't care about anyone else like you baby."

Emma smiled lightly as they greeted each other and she sat when Emma pulled out a seat for her. "No problem, Nick - you are very welcome to stay here." Her mother said happily and her father rolled his eyes. Emma reached down and grabbed Nick's hand in hers, lacing their fingers together.

She smiled at his statement, leaning back in the seat slightly. "I'm sure if my heart still beat it would do the same." She responded. It would be a shame that she could not eat with him, but she was glad to keep him company.

Nick could see that her father was still not comfortable with him, which he could completely understand. "Thank you, Mrs. Thomas. I was living out of my car for the past few weeks, so I'm really grateful for this offer." He stated glanced down at their fingers interlaced together then offered a smile in Emma's direction.

Sam sighed a little and shook his head. "Would it?" He asked her softly and held her hands tightly. He ordered himself a burger and then sighed, knowing she wouldn't order. "I'm sorry - I shouldn't have brought you here." He said softly, sadly.

Emma smiled lightly as he smiled at her and she squeezed his fingers gently, feeling happy. "I love you." She mouthed to him and kissed his cheek quickly, smiling lightly. Her mother smiled at the encounter. "Well it's a shame you didn't come here sooner - we're happy to have you for as long as you need to stay." She offered.

"Of course it would, Sam." She clarified for him since she was completely sure. She had never felt this way about anyone else. "It's fine. I know that you need to eat, and I am just happy to be company. Or.. I could just have a bite later." Veronica chuckled a little as she place a kiss over the pulse in his wrist.

Feeling the gentle squeeze, he looked over at her with a smile. He mouthed back the same three words as she leaned over to kiss his cheek. Nick looked back to her parents and smiled over at them. "I recently got a job, so I'm hoping that I can leave here when I have enough money. Hopefully, with Emma."

Sam smiled lightly and nodded his head. He chuckled as she teased at his wrist and he agreed. "Alright - why not?" He said with a slight laugh. He was okay with that. To think that not too long ago he was repulsed by her - and now he really just wanted her to bite him.

Emma smiled lightly when she heard his words. If her parents weren't around she would've kissed him but she wouldnt do that in front of her parents - she was already pregnant as it was. "That sounds wonderful." Her mother said while her father made a gasping noise, almost like he was choking.

Interlacing their fingers together, she placed their hands on top of the table. "So, tell me something about yourself. We've been working together for months, and the only thing I know about you is that you're human and that you're a detective like me." She requested with a growing smile on her face.

"Thank you," He responded, grateful that his mother was giving him permission. On the other hand, it did seem like Nick had some more work to do with her father. He was not convinced that Nick was responsible or worthy enough to leave this house with his daughter - baby or not. "Mr. Thomas, I would like you to think about this. I won't have enough money for a while, but.." He trailed off, hoping that he would.

Sam chuckled a little and nodded his head. "Isn't that all you need to know?" He asked teasing and reached down, kissing her knuckles. "I don't know - not much is interesting... I had a rough childhood - then I dug myself out and worked hard to get where I am." He didn't like talking about his past - it wasn't so pretty.

Emma smiled a little and squeezed his hand.Her father looked a little confused for a moment and then sighed, nodding his head. "Whether I like it or not, I believe you." He said with a sigh. "You got my daughter into this mess and you have to be a part of it. This baby needs you too." He said as his not-so-warm approval.

"Ha ha," She laughed sarcastically with a small shake of the head. "That definitely sounds more interesting than what you believe. Talk to me. Please," She encouraged him, gently squeezing his hand. Veronica wanted to know everything about him, even the ugly. "I'll tell you anything that you want to know about me. I think you deserve it."

Nick smiled from her father's approval, completely ecstatic about it. "Thank you, sir, really. You have no idea how much that means to me," He stated, looking over at Emma in joy. "I am going to be a part of this baby's life. No matter what happens."

Sam sighed a little and played with her hands, lifting his one hand away to drag it through his ruffled hair. "I just don't like talking about it much - when I say rough, I mean really rough. And it's made me all the better - it's made me who I am today but it's just not going to come out sounding very pretty." He said, slightly frustrated and flustered. He loved that she wanted to know yet he also hated talking of it.

Emma smiled up at him happily and reached herself up enough to kiss him on the cheek. She was so happy to be with him and for everyone to be okay with them being together. "Thank you daddy!" She said happily to her father and squeezed Nick's hand. "I love you." She said, proceeding to eat her dinner. This made her feel so good.

Veronica paused to chew her lip softly, wanting to know the rest of the story. In due time, perhaps he would find the reason to speak about it. "Okay, okay. I hear you," She mumbled, pulling her hand around with a small sigh. "You can share with me whenever you're ready." There was no point in pushing him, especially when they had all the time in the world. It would be a lie to say she was not disappointed though.

Nick smiled down at Emma in return, locking eyes. It seemed that everything was starting to fall into place for both of them. "Thank you for giving me a second chance. I'm going to do it properly now," He smiled then continued to eat his dinner.
