It might also be helpful to say whether each family member is dead or alive. Perhaps the color of the box for each member on the family tree indicates whether they're magical, non-magical, dead, or alive? For example, purple would mean magical and alive; green would be magical and dead; red would be non-magical and alive; and blue would be non-magical and dead (obviously these don't have to be the colors). Or do you think that'd be too confusing? If it is, then we should just have the non-magical and magical be indicated by different colors.
Should we put males on the family tree as well, for fathers and brothers? What happens to any males that are born into the family? Are they always non-magical, or do magical ones have their own covens?
