"Exactly what I told her," Stacker replied. He paused then added, "of course that's excluding Mr Becket."

Herc nodded in agreement, regardless of his opinions about Raleigh Beckett.
"Even Raleigh can't pilot a jaeger by himself." He paused for a few moments before adding, "Of course another operational jaeger wouldn't hurt."

Stacker glanced down at Max and then at Herc. "So you think she's right?" he wasn't being judgemental about it or anything, he was just trying to get a second opinion.

Herc thought about it for a while before answering slowly, "If you could find a decent pilot team, I think it would worth considering at least."

Stacker nodded. "I guess I'll send her down to have a look at it, in that case." He studied Herc for a moment. "You look like shit, you know that? Might want to catch some sleep."

"It was a long day yesterday and I only got a few hours sleep before the kaiju alert went off," Herc informed him, fighting back a yawn.
"Gonna head off when I'm done here."

Stacker motioned to Herc's pretty much empty plate. "I think you are done here," he said as he stood up.

"Yeah. See you around," Herc agreed. He retrived his plate and dropped it on the tray with his empty glass, before unhooking Max's lead and standing up.
"Come on boy," He called to Max, whilst patting his leg.

Stacker pissed off somewhere.

“They’re dead,” Newt half yelled in frustration as he dropped the skin parasite onto the desk. He ran a hand through his hair as he carried on talking loudly to himself. “I give up. I have no idea what I have to do. I was there within an hour of it falling ready to buy these little guys and they… they died. Still.” He kicked the desk in frustration, sending a tray of entrails skittering to the floor. “Seriously what do I have to do?”

Hermann entered the lab partway through Newt's rant, rolling his eyes as he heard his colleague talking to himself. He kept well clear of the kaiju pieces, quickly retreating to the safety of his half of the room, before announcing his presence by stating, "I still don't understand why you even want to study them."

“Somebody has to,” Newt shot back. He knelt down to pick up the entrails that had taken a little tumble and placed them precariously on the edge of the desk.a

"Oh, I understand the need for study of the monsters, but why alien parasites?" Hermann shuffled a few papers on his desk, looking for a report he was meant to be giving to the Marshall later that day.

"Because they might tell us something?" Newt retorted. "You know dude, for someone who calls himself a scientist you're sort of you know, ignorant and narrow minded about this sort of stuff."

"It's disgusting," Herman spat back, scowling at the variety of kaiju parts across the room from him.
"Numbers tell us much more; everything we need to know."

“Sometimes disgusting is necessary,” Newt leaned in close to his tray of entrails and squinted before pulling a hair from them. “And dude no offense but numbers alone won’t tell us crap. Some of us have to get our hands dirty, like it or not, and if that involves me looking at alien parasites then so be it.” He picked up the dead parasite and started scanning the room for a container or something he could stash it in. “Also think about it alien parasites. I mean how awesome is that?”

"Kaiju groupie," Hermann muttered under his breath, turning away so he didn't have to watch Newt poke at the entrails. He put the report down on top of his computer so it wouldn't get lost in the rest of the paperwork again, spying the scrap of paper that he'd scribbled out his plan to get back at his lab partner for leaving kaiju parts on his desk.

Newt looked up at Hermann. “What was that?” he asked. “Oh wait I just remembered I don’t care.” He casually moved something off his desk and placed on Hermann’s side of the room.

Hermann turned back around when he heard Newt approaching, and then visibly bristled when he saw him putting the whatever it was down.
"That's my half of the room!"

Newt ignored him and moved back to his side of the room. “You know what I really want? A kaiju’s brain. A whole one, I mean. Just think how awesome that would be,” he was purposely trying to wind Hermann up, and he sincerely hoped he was succeeding. “We’d learn way more from that than what your precious numbers tell us.”

Herman probably looked like he was about to explode. The thought of a whole kaiju brain dripping all over the lab and his work gave him the shivers, so he shot back more forcefully than needed, "Numbers tell us when there will be an attack."
