Hunting for a Mate

Lucy knew the moment he was outside of the cave. Even though she was sleeping, she was staying alert too. Though she did not open her eyes for him or move. Right now she did not care what the alpha did as long as it did not bother her. She waited until morning to think about getting ready. Opening up her eyes, Lucy saw that he was fast sleep. Then she slowly pulled away from him, making sure not to bump into the alpha as she did so. Lucy then stretched out before heading out of the caves. She ran out and through the forest, making her way to her pack.

Once again Sam was pissed. Did his mate really think she could just run away? That he wouldn't go after her? With a growl Sam grabbed a traveling pack and slid his head in between the rope so that it settled around his neck. The pack contained a set of clothes for him to wear if he shifted forms. While his and others nudity didn't bother him he didn't know where his little mate was going and if she was heading into human territory he'd need something to cover him. Sam didn't know if all werewolves wore packs or not, but his pack did. The small leather pouch settled against the fur on his chest. That done he turned and ran from the cave. When he was out in the open his whole pack - in wolf form - was staring at him. While his Little Mate thought she'd escaped unnoticed, she hadn't. As he walked passed he sent a growl to Greg, whose light eyes were laughing at him. Shaking out his run Sam began lopping through the forest after her. He'd stay far enough back that she wouldn't notice him. He wanted to know where - and who - she was running to. Did his Little Mate already have someone she loved? Well, that would end soon.

It took her about 40 minutes to get to her old pack's territory. They lived in one of the sides of the mountain. Several packs occupied the mountain but it was large enough for none of them to run into each other in the caves or while hunting. Lucy stopped by their river, taking a drink of it before she shook her fur out and headed into the caves. It was not long until she found her alpha. Lucy walked up to him, with her head down. She whimpered a little before laying down. The alpha could smell her mate on her. So he sent others out of his personal cave so that he may talk to Lucy. Lucy knew that he was probably going to send her back but she wanted to speak to him. She wanted to know about this O'brien pack and their leader.

Sam sat at the forest edge, watching Lucy walk into the mountain entrance. He head was lowered, gaze set on where she disappeared. He knew this was her pack because she still carried their scent. That wouldn't last long if he had any say about it. Looking around he knew that if he just walked in there it could be seen as an act of war... but he couldn't just leave his Little Mate there. So he waited and when the wolves around him were off doing other things he bolted into the mountain, following her scent the rest of the way.

Kileon was fully aware that Lucy's mate was probably going to be coming around soon. Once one found a mate they were not so willing to give them up that easily. So he had told the others that an alpha would be coming through to get Lucy. There was no need for a war to start over this. Besides he was too busy to even think about starting anything with the O'brien pack. Though he was planning on telling Lucy what she wanted to hear. Despite the issues that she had caused during the hunt, Lucy had been a loyal pack member. He at least owed her his knowledge on her mate. However it was limited. He told Lucy that they were a fairly new pack, that it was a bunch of outcasts that had joined together to become one. He had also told her that the alpha was not seen well in the eyes of many of the other alphas, but it was because he was new and no one knew much about him. Kiloen then headed over to Lucy, rubbing his nose on her forehead. 'If you need help, you may always come back and ask for it. Though I can not allow you to stay with me anymore. All of us wish you the best of luck with your new pack'.
Lucy let out a small whimper to him and she looked up at Kileon with big sad eyes. She was trying to appeal to him. 'I do not want to go back with him. I want to stay here with all of you.'

Sam walked in, seeing the two wolves together. He wondered if they were lovers, but upon further inspection he concluded that she'd gone to her alpha. So he stood there, just watching her, wondering if he should just leave her there. It was a though, but not one that could happen. Once found he couldn't just ignore her. The knowledge that she was out there would drive him mad. So he took one step forward, chocolate coat almost black in the cave, as his brown eyes stayed locked on her, 'Little Mate,' He sent to her, 'It's time to go.'

Lucy glanced back at her mate for a moment before looking back at Kiloen. She looked up at him hopefully, wishing that he would let her stay. Though he shook his head before nudging her again. 'Get up and go home. Come back if you have problems but try to make it work'.
Lucy closed her eyes for a moment. That was not the answer she had been hoping for though it was the one she expected. She moved onto her legs and slowly made her way back to her mate. She did not want to cause any problems for her pack so she was going to go back with him for now. Though it did not mean she was not going to cause problems for her mate when they did get back.

Sam stepped to the side as she walked past, gaze on the other Alpha, before he turned and followed her out. He trotted behind her, keeping her pace faster then a slow walk. As they walked out into the open he ignored the wolves watching them, keeping his gaze forward and her moving. He was silent through the whole trip home, just herding her with nudges of his body. When they crossed over his territory he relaxed a little and when they entered the clearing he nudged her toward the caves. They needed to talk privately.

Lucy allowed him to lead her back through the nudges. It was a lot better than yesterday when he was snapping at her feet to bring her back. As they walked towards the caves, the other wolves looked at them. She glanced at them for a moment before walking into the cave system and making her way back to his room. She not not been able to actually meet his pack yet, which made her a bit uneasy. Hopefully they would be welcoming but now they all thought that she had been running away. While she did leave without telling anyone and she did want to stay with her pack it was not exactly running away. Though at the moment she did not like it here with him.

When they reached his room he stopped at the door, still in wolf form, and met her gaze, 'It's easy to tell that you don't want to be mated. Well, neither do I.' he shook his head, his body giving a big sigh, 'Unfortunately you'll have to stay here, become a part of this pack, but I will not force you to mate.' It was dangerous to wait. Most didn't because of the legends of wolves going insane without their mate's mark and companionship, but Sam didn't care. To him they were just legends and rumors, 'You have nothing to few from me, Little Mate, unless you push me into marking you. Don't push me.' with that final warning he turned and walked from the room, heading back out to his pack

Lucy watched him walk off before turning to the pelts and laying down on it. She was glad that he was not going to force himself on her. At least that calmed herself down a bit because she really had not wanted that. Though she was curious as to how far she had to push him in order to make him mark her. Not that she wanted to get to that point but she did want to know what his breaking point was. Lucy curled on the pelts for a bit before getting up and heading out of the cave. Surely he did not expect her to stay there the whole time. She wanted to go meet the rest of the pack.

By the time she came back out Sam and the rest of the pack were in human form, clothed, and working on expanding the caves. It was dangerous and hard work. They were all picking at the walls with axes and it was known for heavy boulders to drop down to where they were working. So far his pack had managed to only get minor wounds from that and he wanted to continue the luck. As they worked Sam eventually removed his shirt. It was covered in sweat and irritating. He was at the front of the pack, leading the way at digging. It was typically the most dangerous position and he wouldn't allow any of the others to put themselves in danger.

Lucy sat down and watched all of them work on the caves. She understood what they were doing but she did not know exactly how it worked. After all she never had to help make the caves bigger with her old pack. The system had been made naturally and it was rather perfect. She watched them for a few minutes before heading back inside of the caves and looking around. Soon she was going to start working with them. While she did not want to deal with her mate, she did want to get to know the other members adn to get along with them. It was clear she would be here for a little bit and she wanted to make a few friends before she could leave. However today was not the day to start trying to help. They were doing dangerous work and she had no idea how to do any of it. Plus they looked too busy to show her. So she would wait until tomorrow to get someone to teach her or for her mate to tell her how to help the pack. Once again she was going to be a pain to him but she wanted the rest of them to like her and she didn't want to do nothing anyways.

As Greg was walking back into the caves he ran into his alpha's mate. Not literally. As human his feet would have have crushed her. Greg was huge, even bigger than his alpha. So he was very glad he hadn't run into her, but he did stop and stare at her, "You shouldn't be here, Little Wolf," He said, his voice deep, "It's dangerous. You could get squashed."

Lucy stopped where she was, sitting down in front of Greg as she looked up at him. 'Where should I be then?' She sent to him. Her mind voice was soft but curious. She was not trying to question whether or not it was dangerous. Just simply where Lucy was allowed to go and where she should stay away from. Her tail curled around her body as she waited for him to tell her where she could explore.

Greg glanced around them, then grinned at her, gesturing to a hallway with his head, "Go on and explore in there. It should be fairly safe. Just don't let Sam catch you. We just finished it and he's still a little unsure, but it's been doing fine these past few days."

Lucy's tail went up and she looked in the hall curiously. She then jumped up to her feet. 'Thanks!'. She sent to him with a Wolfy grin. Then she bound into the hallway. Lucy didn't want to be stuck inside one cave all day! She wanted to have some fun and to look around. And she knew he would not trust her outside so she stayed in.
It took her a moment, she then realized she caught her mate's name. It must be Sam right? She supposed it was not a terrible name.

Greg chuckled as he headed into the hall they were working on just as Sam came out, rubbing the sweat from his face with a towel. Greg stood still, hopping his alpha hadn't seen that and sighing in relief when the guy just walked past with a small greeting. Greg was just moving down the hall when Sam stopped and sniffed around, catching his mate's scent. He growled a little, noticing where she'd gone off to and followed her, grumbling the whole way.

Lucy ran through the tunnels, looking around at everything. Really it was not the most interesting thing to do but it was a lot better than sitting in the one cave. Plus it was nice to know that she was not being watched over. She had the feeling that Sam was going to act more like an overbearing parent than her mate. Once she reached the end of the tunnel, Lucy sat down and looked up at the stones on the wall curiously. It was not like the brown and black cave walls. This one was a bright blue, like her eyes. She was admiring the beauty and the how the light hit them.

Sam finally found her staring at a stone wall. He frowned, not able to stop himself from wondering why he'd tracked her down in the first place, but he stepped forward anyway, "Little Mate?" He called out, a curious frown on his face. He crouched down at the doorway to the room, still frowning, "What are you looking at?" He couldn't help but to wonder if she was part cat... and if a red laser dot would keep her occupied.
