Hunting for a Mate

Lucy heard him walk towards her, though she had stayed the way she was until she spoke. 'Can't you see the blue stones?' She asked him as she moved her front leg up and began to paw at one of the blue stones. She got some of the dirt and dust off, allowing it to shine brighter. It was her first time seeing a gem-is that what the humans called it- like that one. There had been sliver, red and green stones at her old cave but she had never seen the blue one before. Lucy pressed her paw into it again before turning and looking up at the alpha. When she was bored, Lucy was known to be easily entertained or distracted. It was when she had something to do that she was one tracked. Though since all she could really do is run around the caves and look at things she found that even the simplest thing could keep her occupied. 'Why do you keep calling me little mate?'

Sam leaned a little closer, looking at the stone she pointed out, "There are a few this color and other shades of blue. They're all around these caves." Without thinking he took out a dagger and before digging the stone out, "And I keep calling you that because, one, I don't know your name and, two, you are a little mate." He'd always assumed his mate would be a large wolf, equal to him in size. Apparently fate had another say to it. Now the stone was in the palm of his hand and he held it out to her, "Here, you may have it."

Lucy glanced at the stone before she took a few steps back. She shook out her white fur before shifting into her human form. Like everyone else, she shifted naked. Though it did not bother her. Most wolves didn't care and usually clothes were only worn to deal with humans, for protection or not to get dirty. Then she took a few steps back towards him before reaching out and taking the blue stone from his hand. "Thank you." There had been no expectation for him to take it out of the wall for her. Though it was nice and she thought that she could keep it to look at. "Then should I call you big mate then?" Lucy asked him before tearing her eyes away from the stone and looking up at Sam. "I am more normal size that you are for you are a very tall man." She knew his name but she did not plan to make that clear. Nor did she plan on telling Sam her name until he asked for it.

Sam smiled, "If you wish," He said softly before holding his hand out as if to shake hers in a human greeting, "Sam O'Brian." He said, voice deep, "I suppose it would be best to know the name of your mate, whether we're marked or not." Then he waited for her, patient, watchful. He'd seen the way her eyes had seemed to light up as the stone hit her palm and was gland he'd fished it out of the wall for her.

"Hm really? Because I don't see the point." Lucy said bluntly. Yes he had just done something nice for her but she was still irratated by this situation. She wanted to make it very clear that she did not want anything to do with her 'mate'. While the idea of mates were nice and having the 'one' seemed like dream. It was not as lovely as it sounded. While for betas finding their true mates could be a simple as having a love for the rest of one's life, mating with an alpha was a completely different matter and one that she did not want to be involved in. Once she admitted to the mating and got marked, then she was basically his. No wolf in their right mind would try to even touch a mate of an alpha. Which meant she basically had to commit herself to him. The alpha on the other hand could have his mate and then many other partners if they were not satisfied with their mate that fate had given them. Some alphas just used their mate for the power that came with mating and to have stronger children to one day rule the pack. Though others actually did care about their mate. Anyways Lucy was not willing to take the chance to find out if he was good or bad. She then moved around him and headed out of that hallway.

Sam dropped his hand and sigh before standing and following her out, "Alright. We'll do this the hard way." He stalked up to her, arm reaching out and turning her to him, shoving her against the wall and growling, flashing the small fangs he hand in human form and leaning in close to her, his nose pressing to her, "I don't care if you consider yourself my mate or not, but I will not allow you to continue to disrespect me. Understand?" He snarled, snapping his teeth in her face. He hated pushing his position as alpha, but his pack of full of rogues who only followed strength and if his mate didn't respect his position... why would they? He couldn't have them try to overthrow him.

Lucy growled at him, obviously pissed off about the events. She tried to shake him off of her arm. Though she spoke, knowing that he was stronger than her and now was not the moment to start a fight. "I understand." Lucy hissed at him. "Let go of.me." Lucy then pulled her free arm back and then slammed it into his chest, forcing his hands to rip away from her arm. "Just stay away from me." Lucy took a few more steps back, wanting to run though she stayed there. As much as she wanted to leave she was sure that he would follow her until he was ready to let her go. Sam would probably just keep grabbing her until he was sure she 'understood'.

Sam shook his head as his gaze met hers, "Don't push me, Little Mate. I have quite a bit of patience, but I will not allow you to disrespect me."he he walked back up to her, snarling, "Don't push me. You don't want to see me angry."he that sadi he stomped off, heading out of the tunnels and back to where the digging was, growling once again as Greg passed.

Lucy frowned deeply before looking down at the stone in her hand. She shifted, picked up the stone with her mouth before running back to the personal cave. Right now she couldn't afford to get into any more trouble and she seemed to get into it when she was out of his damn cave. It seemed like she was almost pushing him to the edge. She wanted to annoy him, for him to give up on her. Though she did not want to anger him so much that he would force mark her or fight her.
Once she was back in his cave, she moved over to the pelts. Lucy laid down, and then set the stone down. She began to play with it until it was late enough to sleep.

Hours after dark Sam returned to his cave. It was another hard day and he was exhausted. After working more in the caves he'd patrolled with his pack, hunted dinner, and made sure ahe good part of his portion of the buck was saved for his Little Mate. He still had yet to know her name, wich irked him, but he wasn't going to dwell on it. It would just make him angry. So he carried the meat to his cave as the rest of his pack eent to their respective rooms. When he reached his and noticed she was asleep he debated leaving her alone, but she needed to eat. He doubted she'd had breakfast. So he set the meat beside the pelts, nudged her with his snout, then allowed exhaustion to take hold and dropped to the pelts beside her, too tired to see if she woke and ate.

Lucy opened up her eyes once he nudged get. She saw the meat and moved onto her feet. First she grabbed onto the meat and pulled it away from the pelts. The last thing she wanted to do was make a mess. Lucy are all of the meat. After all she had not eaten all day. Once finished Lucy licked up her muzzle and headed over to the pelts. Curling up, Lucy closed get eyes and headed back to sleep. Her back was towards Sam.

When Sam woke the next morning he was surprised to find his wolf curled around hers. He noticed the meat was gone and was glad she'd ate. It was still early, the sun probably just starting to rise, and for the first time he found himself not wanting to get up. Normally he just got straight to work, but this morning he rested his head back down, his front curled around her back. His head was drapped over her spine and shoulders and out of instinct he began gently grooming her fur in that area.

Lucy didn't notice Sam curl up around her during the night. She also didn't notice herself move close into him. Though she did notice the extra warmth and it was something that she welcomed. In her old pack she always slept with someone for the extra warmth. It was uncommon for most in her pack to sleep alone. Her eyes began to open up a bit after Sam woke. Right away she noticed that he was curled up around her and she felt him grooming out her fur. If she were to be honest with herself Lucy didn't hate this. It was actually quite comfortable. Though she didn't want him knowing that. Nor did she want him thinking that she was getting used to him. So she covered her muzzle with her paw. 'Big mate, you smell bad. You need a bath.' Lucy then pulled herself away from him and began to shake out her fur.

Her words didn't bother him as much as he would have thought and he found himself in a good mood so with a grin he stood, 'well, you don't smell so good either. Maybe you should join me."he playfully nudged her with his snout before leaping over her and running from the room, heading to the creek about half a mile from the Caves.

Lucy turned her head, smelling herself before wrinkling her nose. She didn't smell terrible but Sam was right in saying that she needed a bath. Her coat was rather dirty at this point. So she followed him to the creak. Once there she drank, having been rather thirsty from her lack of water yesterday. Lucy then jumped into the water, getting all of the dirt, mud and blood off of her.

Sam stood in the water, dripping wet, as he watched her. Then he shook out his fur, water spraying everywhere. Then he trotted from the water and began licking at his paws, trying to separate his furs to try and help them dry.

Lucy followed him out of the water, shaking her fur out once she was. Then she stretched her body out, sticking her butt in the air as she reached her front paws out as far as possible. Once she was good Lucy shook her white fur out again and turned to Sam. She walked over to him and placed her paw on his head, separating the fur so it would dry faster.

Sam lifted his head at her, eyes smiling at her, before he dropped into a playbow. He hadn't played in so long and he didn't know why he did now, but since he was in a good mood he figured why not? He mock jumped at her, still in the bow.

Lucy backed up a bit, watching Sam. She was unsure of if she wanted to do this but she quickly decided that it would be fun. So she leaned down into her playbow. Lucy reached over, bonking him on the nose before jumping right on top of Sam.
