Will You Let Me In?

Hailee concentrated on the teacher and her schoolwork to the best of her ability. Her hand wanted to keep doodling his eyes in the corner of her paper. She bit her lip, trying to keep the huge stupid looking grin off of her face.

David looked down at the paper before him, attempting to answer them. Slowly, his mind wandered off into another direction. Questions floated around in his mind and simple fantasies of unrealistic proportions. There was a loud clang that ripped him out of his thoughts and he jumped up slightly.

David was really glad to get some time alone with Hailee this weekend. He wanted to know her better. He smirked hoping that maybe she could come over later that night and "study" or whatever. He sighed as he thought of her his mind only half way thinking of the work the teacher was explaining.

North flinched a wimper escaping as she hurt the clashand ahe flinched toward David as if somehow by being closer to him that she would be safe. Her eyes wherw huge and ahe looked frightened again for a while before she started to calm down. North hadn't seen where the sound came from only heard it. North returned to her work finishing it and tucking it away before looking around. She sighed and laid her head on her hands looking over at David. She smiled softly as she thought how nice it always felt to be around him, once she was use it him anyways. North leaned over and pointed out a mistake on his paper. "It's an adverb, not an adjective." North looked up into his eyes pulling her hand back. She could see his shock that she was speaking willingly to him.

Hailee tried to focus on the work but it was getting harder and harder. Her eyes kept traveling up to the clock on the wall; not too long before class lets out. She heard a voice next to her, causing her to jump and knock her book to the floor with a loud crash. She could feel the heat in her cheeks as she turned her head to see the teacher looking over her shoulder.

David could feel her eyes boring into him but he chose not to acknowledge it in fear that she would decide she wanted nothing to do with him. So when he heard her voice, it shocked him. "Oh, um, thanks." A smile splayed across his lips as he fixed his answer.

Emmet came out of class headed toward Hailee and frowned seeing a big guy standing beside hee smirking as she picked up her books. Emmet when over trying to keep cool. He helped Hailee with her books then moved her behind him. He took he boy by his shirt and pushed him up against he wall. "If I ever hear of you doing this again to anyone I will find you, and I will make you wish that you had never been born." Emmet hissed quietly which made him seem even mkre dangerous. He pushed the boy away and watched him stumble. Emmet turned amd put his arm around Hailee's shoulders. He walked her away to a quieter place before turning to him and cupping her cheek. "Are you alrigt?" He asked softly his eyes kind again.

North nodded and packed up as the bell rang. She had walked out just in time to see the guy push anoher into a wall. His eyes dangerous. She turned gost white and dropped her things running out of the school towards the woods and wouldn't stop. North was fast. She could have run in track easily. She stopped finally when she couldn't see anymore. She was in the woods. North fell to her knees crying. She hugged a tree trying to regain her breath.

David watched the incident with wide eyes and watched as North took off. He jabbed his finger at the other boy, "Don't touch my sister." He gave him a vicious glare and then took off down the hall to chase after North. Somehow he knew she'd make her way to the woods which seemed to be her safe haven, and started looking for her. He just had to make sure she was okay and then he would leave her alone if that was what she wanted.

Emmet sighed. "I am sorry. I guess now that they see you hanging out with me they think that you are obtainable." He sighed and leaned his head down so it resred on hers. He rubbed her arm. "I am sorry you saw me like that but at least I didn't hit him when I walked up. I really wanted to but I was more co cerned for you." Emmet ran a hamd through his hair and shook his head. "I'll walk you to class." He said.

North cried not holding back. She usually could but today was a bad day. She would have all weekend to live in hell. North didn't want to go back but she didn't want to leave. The next place could be worse, and she didn't want that. She heard a brank break and she looked over at the sound seeing a blurry David. She wiped her tears and looked up at him. "I don't want you to see me like this." She said and pulled away from the tree pulling up her hood and hugging her knees. North hid her face there. She was trembling.

Hailee nodded her head an walked next to him silently. Lashes of violence wasn't something she was new to, not with being David's sister. Sometimes his team members would come over and things would get rowdy and she had seen David in a few fights himself. Not that he really seemed to enjoy participating in them, he always seemed to dragged in unwillingly.

"Hey now," David's voice was gentle as he approached North. "I just want to make sure you're okay." His hand reached outwards to rub soothing circles on her back, though he expected her to lash out at him.

Emmet ran his hand through his hair realizing how much he may have just screwed up. He hung his head and peeked iver at her. This was not what he wanted. He wanted them smiling and laughing again. "I should give you my number so you can text me or whatever if you wanna hang out and uhh study." Emmet said and shrugged. He wrote his number down and handed it to her as they stood in front of her class. "Well I uhh... I guess I will see you." He said.

North flinched but didn't make any other move. She felt him near her and once he was close enough she leaned into him. North hid her face crying hard. She couldn't deal with this on her own anymore. She didn't want to be alone to have no one. All North wanted was a place to belong. She knew skipping class was not good for either her or David but she couldn't help it, she couldn't stop crying long enough to go back to class.

Hailee grabbed his hand gently before he turned to leave. "You will see me." She hoped he could see the promise of that statement in her eyes. Standing on her tip toes, she placed a gentle kiss on his cheek before turning into the classroom.

As she leaned in, he wrapped his arms around her and let her cry. Several moments passed before he spoke. "Do you want to talk about it? I know there's more to it than you being frightened of the boy in the hall..." David trailed off, hoping she wouldn't get upset for his asking. He just wanted to know what was wrong, how he could help the girl in front of him.

Emmet smiled and he watched her walk into the classroom. He smirked and turned walking towards his own class. He was glad that she hadn't been upset with him. Emmet really did like her and he wanted to always impress her. Emmet walked into class and sunk down in his seat as the bell rang.

North shook her head. She didn't want to talk about it. That was even more dangerous. He was right though. It was more then the fight in the hall. She had so much going on with her. North ended up clinging to him and crying until the tears wouldn't fall no more. Maybe they wouldn't hurt her today. Maybe something would happen to make them happy and they would forget about her.

Hailee payed her utmost attention to the teacher before her. Concentrating fully on the work at hand. She needed a distraction and her class work passed as one fairly easily.

Feeling her shake her head, he decided to continue with just holding her. She would open up to him when she was good and ready, and David wasn't one to force himself upon someone. He stroked her hair gently and she cried into his chest, not saying anything though he desperately wanted to. But what was one supposed to say in this type of situation?

Emmet worked hard on his work and finished up just as the bell rang. He went through the day seeing Hailee as often as he cood and working as hard as he could on his work but at the end of the day he meet up with Hailee once more. "So will I get a tutor tonight?" He asked his fingers brushing over her cheek as he looked down at her.

North skipped about half the day with David before she figured that he wasn't leaving her. She sighed and after lunch went into art with him. She knew skipping class would make the punishment no worse and no better but for some reason she cared if David skipped class. She cared, and it frightened her. North sat beside him staring at an empty page. North didn't have the will to draw.

Heat rushed to Hailee's cheeks as he brushed his hand across one of them. "I don't know. Maybe? I'll have to talk to my parents." She smiled up at the boy, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear.

A sigh escaped from David's lips as he watched North in his peripheral vision. Noticing that her pencil wasn't going to move he decided to speak to her, "What's wrong? You're always drawing." He wished she would open up to him though he expected to learn nothing from his question.

Emmet grinned. "Text me." He said and smiled. He was more then happy to spend any time with her. He doubted they would let her off two days in a row though. He picked up his bag and looked at the time. "Want to sit outside and wait for your brother?"

North bit her lip and looked away. She looked at the paper and drew ripples and a few drops. It was an immaculate and sad drawing. The water seemed real and it seemed to ripple and drop off an invisable canister. North put her pencil down and pushed it to him. She sighed and laid her head down. North closed her eyes feeling a shake tremble through her before she stopped it.

"Yeah, that sounds great." A smile spread across her lips as she picked her bag up and slipped it over her shoulder. She walked towards the exit, her shoulder brushing his as they moved. Without really thinking about it, she reached over and interlinked her fingers with his.

David glanced down at the drawing and gritted his teeth, feeling the sadness through the markings on the paper. His eyes drifted towards her, barely seeing the tremble of her body. He watched to reach over and take her into his arms like he did in the woods, but he doubted she would want him to do so in the middle of class.

Emmet smiled and sat with her out on the grass. He leaned back on his hands looking over at her. "Hailee you are so beautiful." He said and smiled. "How did I not notice you?" He asked. Though he knew they had entirley different circles that they ran in. Emmetwished he hadn't wasted all that time looking for her.

North sighed. She didn't move for the rest of the class. When the bell rang she stood and sighed harder. It was nearing the end of the day and she was scared as hell. After school North found David angain and pushed him against the looker tears welling up in her eyes. "You went and made it complicated!" She yelled not caring that people stopped and looked. The tears fell down her face and she shook her head. "Why did you have to go and ruin everything?" North looked at him turned to leave. She had togo face the inevitable.

Hailee giggled at his statement. "I'm pretty great at hiding." A blush was slowly creeping across her as she looked down at the grass.

What the hell? That's all David could think in that moment. What had he even done? He stared after her, dumbfounded, for a moment. Quickly, he tried to catch up to her. He managed to slip in front of her and put his arms out so that she couldn't pass him, making sure not to grab her like the last time. "What did I make complicated?!" The confusion was clear in his eyes.

Emmet chuckled. "Well good hing I am good at finding." He winked loving the color in her cheeks. He reached over letting his fingers rest between hers in the grass hardly touching but just enough to feel her hand close to his.

North looked about ready to cry. "You made it complicated! You care and... and you just did. I have to leave. Really I can't do this now. "I will see you Monday. " she said and ducked under his arm and quickly walked away slipping into the car before he could come out. She felt the tension in the air as they drove back to the house.

Hailee smiled while staring down at their hands. Slowly she inched her towards his, placing hers on top. Her eyes traveled to his face, her smile never wavering.

David let out a noise of frustration and yanked his hands through his hair. When the hell did caring make things complicated? He stomped his way out of the exit of the school, to where he spoted his sister sitting. "Let's go," he barked, glaring ahead, waiting for her to get her things together.
