Will You Let Me In?

"I can give you a ride." He said and smiled. He nodded as she complained about notmhaving a car. It could be frustrating. "Sounds like fun... your parents really let you do that kinda stuff?" He asked not picturing rich people sitting down to watch he unconventional. "So where domyou run to? I could pick you up there, or yoga class, your choice."

North frowned as she realized what he was implying. The bell rang and she stood. "No. Fill it in." She said and went to leave. She didn't even care sbout the project. He was implying something that didn't exist and that she could never have. North frowned walking hastily to her locker. She opened it pulling hings out knowing she had to go meet her ride and tell him all the things that she had to do in school.

  • "Alright, I'll have to find David and tell him though. Or I can just text him." Hailee said as she whipped out her phone and texted her brother, that way he wouldn't worry about her. "I was thinking about skipping the whole running and yoga thing, if you wanted, and just meet you at the park." She grinned up at the boy standing in front of her.
David looked down at the heart. He wasn't going to fill it in. He wasn't the one who put it there, he didn't even own a permanent marker. He managed to catch up with her at her locker. "I'm not going to cover up someone else's initials. I didn't write it. You sitting next to me, you should know." He stared at her with big eyes.

Emmet smiled and nodded. He watched her texting and grinned at her idea. "Sounds great. What time will you get there?" He asked and held her bag for her pulling out his keys. He was glad tomorrow was his day with Hailee. He really was feeling like they could have something special. He hoped he was rigjt. He guessed he would find out tomorrow.

North looked at him. "Look David. I can't fall in love. I hate falling, and... and I don't want to." She said shaking her head. "You don't understand how complicated my life is." She said and sighed. She closed her locker andtook his hand and a permanent marker. She wrote down her email and her house phone. "Don't call after 7. Don't call at 7, or near 7. Ask for me and explain we have a project in science class. Please don't mess this up." She said and turned leaving. North walked up to the car that was waiting for her and she slipped in buckling up and she rode away.

  • "I should get there around eight or so. I do plan to tell my parents that I'll be hanging out with a friend, that way they don't call the police or something." Hailee laughed and shook her head, imaging the reaction her parents would have to her just disappearing.
David watched her walk away and then glanced down at the writing on his hand, a sigh escaped from his lips. He hadn't been trying to force a relationship on her, even though the idea didn't sound bad, he just found the initials amusing. His phone buzzed and he read the text message from Hailee as he made his way towards his car. Since she wasn't riding with him, he went ahead and got in to head home. Upon arrival he made his way straight to his room and dialed the number on his hand. He looked up at the clock: 5 o'clock.

He chewed at his lip as he waited for someone to pick up. It felt like ages but someone picked up on the third ring. "Hello, my name is David. I'm North's science class and we were assigned a project together. May I speak to her?"

Emmet smiled. "Well that sounds alright with me." He said smiling as he lead her to his car. He opened the door for her and put her bag in the back. He smirked at he face she made. She was beautiful. Emmet grinned and got in with her. "Alright where to?" He asked thinking he had to be back at school for practice at 6.

A man answered the phone and after a initial hello he only shouted for North. A minute later North was on the line. "Hello?" She asked confused. She sighed as she hears David. "I can't come over tonight, or tomorrow. She said looking back at the people at the table. She sat on the stool beside the cabinet. " is there anyhing else?" She asked sounding like ahe was in a rush to get off he phone.

  • "Not far from here. Like ten minutes away. Turn right," Hailee said as they started to pull out of the school. She looked over at him and smiled.
"Uh, I guess not..." David chewed on his lip and tugged at a lock of hair. "I'm sorry I even bothered you," he mumbled and tugged his shoes off. "I guess I better go, tennis with dad." He didn't want to hang up first so he sat there; waiting for a response or the sound of a receiver being hung up.

Emmet smiled. "It no problem." He said folowing her directions. He didn't care about being late to practice it happened all the time and it made him a better player, well a faster one at least. His coach knew what he was doing.

North sighed. "I'm sorry David. Uhh have fun at tennis." She said and bit her lip pausing as if waiting. "I'll see you at school tomorrow." She said and rubbed her arm shifting being quiet for a while. She finally realized he wasn't going to hand up. "Okay then uhh bye." She said and hung up. North sighed releived and yet sad. She walked away from he phone upstairs to go do her homework. North ended up falling asleep on her books.

  • "Thank you," Hailee said as they pulled up at the dance studio. She quickly kissed him on the cheek and then scrambled out of the car. A huge smile spread across her face as she entered the studio. "Hey, Hailee!" Her instructor called out to her as she headed towards the lockers to get changed into her dance clothes.
David hung up the phone as he heard the dial tone with a sigh. He tromped down the stairs and found his dad in his office. "Hey dad." His father looked up from the papers and smiled at his son. "What are you doing home, David?"

"Hailee got a ride to dance with a friend." He said as he made his way to the seat next to his dad. "Practice was cancelled," he lied smoothly. Honestly, he had forgotten all about it because he'd been too worried about getting here and calling North. "I was thinking maybe you and I could play a game of tennis. For old time's sake." His father grinned at him and replied, "I thought you were never going to volunteer. Is there something bothering you?" His father's eyes became worried then.

"No. Just a girl." David said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "They'll get you every time," said his father.

Emmet smiled. "Bye Hailee!" He called grinning. He went back to school after picking up some snacks and then he headed to the locker rooms and changed. He smirked thinking of Hailee as he got ready for practice. He ran a hand through his hair and headed out to the feild a little early to eat and streth. He sipped at his water too excited for the practice.

North woke in the morning and sighed. She looked at the time and squelled scrambling to get ready. She ran down the stairs the woman looking at her with distaste and she knew that this was not going to be good when she got back today. North took the lunch bag and the toast she hd given her before she left to hop in the car. The man was silent brewing. North was nervous as hell. She was in so much trouble. North bit her lip feeling like she could vomit. Once she got to school she headed to the girls bathroom and did just that. She frowned and shook as she stood and cleaned out her mouth. She splashed her face and pulled out a peice of gum she had been saving. She chewed on it hping to calm her nerves. She did not want to be here.

  • After dance, Jenna, her dance instructor, gave her a ride home. She pounced up the steps and into her bathroom, desperate to get the sweat washed off. She showered and made her way down the steps into the dining room in a buzz. Her parents and her brother seemed to be eyeing her suspiciously but she waved them off, continuing with diner. Afterwards, she and David continued on with their normal lessons. "Why are you acting so weird?" David questioned her.

"Why are you?" Hailee questioned back. He gave her no answer and they continued on as normal. Once they were done, they head for their bedrooms.
Morning couldn't have come quick enough for David, who had struggled to sleep all night. He trudged his way through his morning routine and to school. He could feel the wrongness of the day and wished he had gotten more sleep. Most kids were excited for a Friday; not David. He didn't even bother with keeping up with any of the guys he knew. He went straight to his locker to gather his books and then made his way to first period. He sunk into his seat with ease and gathered the hood of his jacket up over his head, watching for North to show up. He hoped seeing her would sooth the rumbling turmoil he could feel into the pit of his stomach.

In the morning Emmet went through his regular mlrning but was glad for no morning practice again. He headed toward his locker picking up some stuff heading to Hailee's locker. He smiled seeing her looking happy. He walked over and covered her eyes. "Geuss who." He smirked. Emmet was wondering why she hadn't called for a ride home. "How was dance?" He asked.

North came to class as normal and sat down looking white her eyes looking panicked and her breath shallow. North laid her head on the table and covered her face trying to relax. The last thing she needed was David aakknh questions. Nort shivered and bit her lip licking them when she felt how dry they where. She ran her hand through her hair under her hood before sitting up trykng to act normal. But how did you act normal when you had no choice to fight or run from harm but you had to take it?

  • "Hey, Emmett." Hailee giggled. "It was great as always. Jenna, my instructor, gave me a ride home. She's the closest thing I have to a bestfriend." She wasn't sure why she even shared that information with him. All she knew was, was that she felt like she could share anything with him without having to worry about anything.
"Hey." David whispered. He bit his lip softly, pretty sure she didn't want anyone to talk to her. "I can tell today is not exactly your day and I understand. I'm not too excited about this day myself. Look, I won't really bother you... Can we just meet at our normal spot at lunch?" His teeth sunk into the side of his cheek, nervously, and he could taste blood.

Emmet smiled taking her bag and nodded. He kissed her cheek. "Well I am glad that you got a ride home." He said and walked with her to her first class. He smiled as they talked. He liked that they could talk abot the little things. "Soccer practice was rough last night. I think I might have bruises on the top of my food. He joked. Emmet smiled as he looked at her and he winked.

North sighed. "I don't think I will have much of an appitite." She whispered wishing that she didn't have to talk. She felt like every time she did that it would come out that she was living through hell and on Monday she wouldn't be feeling so good either. She hated to think the hell of a weekend she was going to have to go through. North felt really sick as she hought about it.

  • "On your food?" Hailee giggled as she raised her brow. "That's a bit intense, don't you think?" She slipped her hands into her pockets since she no longer had to carry her books. Emmett seemed to be a complete gentleman but she worried that that wouldn't matter to her parents.
"That's okay." David mumbled. She didn't have to eat for him to be happy about her presence. He desperatley wished he could ask her what was wrong, but he'd learned enough about her that prying into her life wouldn't be something she'd really appreciate. He wondered if there was a way to convince her that she could open up to him but he figured it would probably take awhile to get to that point.

"Food?" Emmet laughed. "Did I say food I ment foot." He laughed and stopped at her class. "Well I guess I need to go back to speech therapy." He played and handed her things back to her. "Do your parents ever let you out on a Friday night?" He asked and leaned against the wall a moment to spare. Emmet smirked as he looked her over. "Did I tell you that you look stunning today?"

North sighed peeking up at him. "I don't want to talk." She said and then hid her wyes agakn he bell ringing and the teacher ased her to sit up. North aat ip and glared at her pulling out her notepad. North scribbled things down angerly. She was really upset over somehing. She still looked pale and slightly afraid but it seemed like she had calmed some.

  • Hailee giggled and bit her lip, a rosy color beginning to appear at the top of her cheeks. She cast her eyes downward and moved her foot around in a slow circle. "Ocassionally. Especially for study groups." Her gaze drifted back up to Emmett's face.
David let out a sigh, he had a strange feeling that the day was going to contain many of those. He cast his gaze in her direction, watching her gentle movements, noticing how pale and frightened she looked today. It caused him to wonder if perhaps someone had bullied her and she didn't want him to defend her again. A hand raked its way through his messy hair as he hoped there wasn't anything going horribly wrong in her home life.

Emmet smiled loving how she reacted like she had never heard any one call her that before. Considering the way people talked though she might have never heard it before. For most guys, an older brother and over protective parents where enough to run for the hills. But Emmet wouldn't let little details get in between the matters of the heart. He smiled as she talked about a study group. "Oh well then sounds like we need to set up a study group. Course you are smarter then me so it would be more like tutoring." He joked half serious. Emmet smiled and heaerd the bell. "Damn. See ya." He said and kissed her hand winking at her before taking off quickly down the hall.

North sighed herself seeing that David was not going to be happy until he could fix her day. She was sad that yet again she was influencing his day. These where the exact kind of ties she didn't want to get into because he queations came and everything got complicated. North looked over at him for a second and then rubbed her arm her face scrunching with discomfort. But as she stopped she looked calmer once again. North wrote in her notebook as the teacher talked and passed out the assignment.

  • Hailee held her hand to her chest and headed into the classroom, smiling. She would most definitely tutor him if that meant they could spend more time together. She was slightly shocked with how well she was doing with all of it and how he kept coming back around, she'd never realized how lonely she had been before.
David grumbled as the teacher placed the assignment on his desk. He stared down at it, loathingly so. Doing schoolwork was something he'd prefer to be avoiding right about now. He drew out a pencil anyways and started at his work, casting several glances in North's direction.

    [Its ok, it happens]
Emmet was late to class but the teacher just roller his eyes as Emmet sat down. Emmet smiled and pulled out his things. He turned in his homework with everyone else grinning from ear to ear about Hailee. She was so cute. He always felt like he was in some silly romance story when he was around her. Emmet relaxed as the teacher begain talking.

North wipped hrough the work easily. She smiled softly enjoying the work. She had a few favorite classes and this was one of them. North ran her hand through her hair as she pulled it to he side puttkng her hood back up. She seemed to gradually be calming down. She might even soeak to him later at lunch but she didn't now.
