Why Don't You Figure My Heart Out?

Bucky looked over at her, "yeah you're right. Just call me James then, since it's just a business thing to you anyway, I don't want to associate my friendliness with people who see me as a threat, even Natasha who I don't even know that well treats me better then most of SHIELD and she's hard to warm up to" he mumbled turning around for a moment and sighed. "You're completely right though, this is strictly to keep watch that I don't do something stupid and hurt someone, so let's not pretend to be friends because we're not and we won't be" with that said Bucky walked to his bedroom.

Ana smiled softly and nodded, "I'd love that actually, that's fine it gives me time to go home and get pretty,.. I mean ready" she said blushing. "I do want to, I'll um call you later then maybe a couple hours from now?" she stood in front of the receptionist's desk and smiled sweetly at him.

Brooke paused for a moment as Bucky disappeared into his room, did she just get hit with a tantrum? Rolling her eyes with a sigh Brooke sent a quick text to Steve saying that Bucky was not in the best mood. Brooke was unsure, she didn't say anything out of hand she was just stating some simple facts. Brooke wasn't going to rise to it, it would only cause more problems part of her was tempted to childish responded with "Fine" but she was SHIELD agent not some kid. "I'll just wait until Steve gets back then," mumbled Brooke.

"Yeah sure, when you are ready if you want," smiled Steve, he then glanced at his phone and saw the text from Brooke things weren't looking good. "It's been great meeting you Ana, but duty calls, I've got to rush off and deal with a few things. But whenever you are ready, give me a call." Steve flashed another smile before giving Ana a quick wave as he headed for the exit.

Bucky lied on his back in bed not letting the blonde get to him, though really he should be blaming SHIELD for all of this. He closed his eyes trying to get his mind off this whole mess, Bucky thought he would be okay with this and it wasn't so much that she was 'babysitting' him that bothered him. Just the way they treated him. Bucky was clearly damaged and had baggage but he was learning to deal with that and he wished people would try and understand that.

Anna nodded, "all right, give me a couple of hours then, it was really nice meeting you too Steve," she waved and nodded before turning back to gather her things. "So Ana, just scored a date with Captain America himself, how does that feel?" one of them came upt to her after he left. She rolled her eyes, "he's a sweetheart okay.. and very cute" She left and went to her apartment that wasn't far from the hospital humming softly.

Brooke sighed with relief when Steve entered the apartment door. "You are here, at last," sighed Brooke as she went to grab her things but Steve shook his head and asked what happened, "I don't really know Steve, i guess he is upset that SHIELD are keeping watch," shrugged Brooke as she began to make her way to the door, but Steve told her to wait as he headed for Bucky's room. "I've got plans tonight Rogers!"

Steve got back to the apartment as soon as he could and he asked Brooke what had happened, one he got a fair idea he headed for Bucky's room. A quick knock on the door and Steve entered Bucky's room to find his friend lying on his bed. "Hey Buck, everything okay?" asked Steve as he stepped inside the room, "Brooke not as bad as she makes out to be."

Bucky sighed softly as he heard his friend walk into the apartment and he could hear the conversation going on, he just chose to ignore it for the most part. I'm sure they would be upset too if they were being treated like some kind of hostile. He opened one eye when Steve walked in, "well, I don't like this whole idea of being babysat, I'm a grown man and I know what you're going to say.. it's for their best interest Buck, what about mine? You know I wouldn't have such a problem with it if they treated me like a human and not some kind of.. oh I don't know criminal. Yes, I admit I've committed some horrible crimes but I didn't do them willingly."

As soon as Ana got home she looked at the time and smiled as she ran to her room to looked through her clothes, her roommate laughed at her. "So let me guess this straight you and Captain America are going on a date?" she teased. Ana frowned, "his name is Steve and yeah, he's taking me out to dinner, I'm hungry and I need something to wear, Em don't just stand there and smirk help me, I haven't been on a real date in months,!"

Brooke heard Bucky's voice it was clearly she was not welcomed here. Brooke gentle bounce from foot to foot as she waited for Steve to finish talking to Bucky.

Steve sighed as he listened Bucky, Steve was aware of both sides of the argument but as loyal as Steve was he couldn't help but side with Bucky on this one. "I get where you are coming from Buck, I really do," replied Steve, "They don't know you like I do as cliche as that sounds it's true. I'm sure this whole thing won't last very long. Look I'm back for a bit, I can send Brooke off and you won't have to see her for however many days, but just a heads up I am off out tonight." Steve knew Bucky would be fine on his own for a few hours but if Bucky didn't want him to go he wouldn't.

Bucky knew Steve would understand but he still felt bad for Brooke, "listen it's not her, I like her she seems like a nice girl, I just.. a little space would be nice you know? I was thinking about hitting the gym but people would look at me weird, I thought about that after she suggested that.." he rubbed the back of his neck, "if she has places to be let her go, but if she wants to stay that's up to her, I don't want to stop her from whatever she's doing." Bucky raised an eyebrow,"you're going out? and where exactly do you have to be in such a hurry?" he asked with a chuckle in his tone.

Ana looked at Emma, "I don't want to over dress but not be in like jeans either.. how about this outfit? I think I'll go with it" she answered before her friend could say anything, Ana walked into the bathroom and changed rather quickly, she was eager about this 'date.' She smiled to herself and looked at Emma, "I should probably be calling him now.."

Brooke felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and she quickly answered it. The conversation was more one sided as her ex rant and raved down the phone to her about not being at the coffee shop. Brooke showed great self restraint as she avoided shouting back down the phone, despite how much the man infuriated her.

Steve chuckled, "I've got a date of sorts with a nurse, Ana, from the hospital." Steve then glanced at his watch and all he needed to do was jump in the shower and put on a a nice change of clothes. "Look Buck, going to the gym might do you some good, get rid of some stress and all that. I am gonna tell Brooke she can go if she wants, she gave you her number right? She is only a few blocks away so if anything happens you can give her call."

Bucky smirked, "well, look at you, I never would have thought you'd ask a woman on a date before, I'm proud of you." He sat up and listened to him for a moment, "well. Yeah I've got her number and address . Only if she doesn't mind, she seems kind of not happy to be here" he shrugged. "Well, looks like you're in a hurry so I'll shut up and let you go do what you have to,"

Ana was sitting down and fixing her hair and make up humming to herself, "you're really excited about this aren't you?" Emma asked her. Ana looked up and grinned, "yes, I am. He's very kind and polite.. and obviously he's attractive, I'm kind of nervous now" she chuckled.

Brooke watched Steve come out of Bucky's room. Steve quickly explained the situation and Brooke felt somewhat guilt, she had got off on the wrong foot with Bucky. "I can come back, we got off on the wrong foot," began Brooke, "I've got to run back to mine and grab a box of my ex's stuff and give it to him. I will tell SHIELD that I can't make it and grab a Chinese on my way back, if he wants anything send me a text. Look Steve I've got to run, I am getting calls every two minutes here." Brooke then quickly headed out of the apartment and headed to her apartment.

Steve watched Brooke fly of the door before heading back to Bucky's room, "Buck she is going to come back, something about getting off on the wrong foot," explained Steve, "She's got to deal with a ex and then she will grab Chinese if you want anything let me know." Steve then headed to the bathroom, stripping off his clothes and grabbing a shower.

Bucky looked at Steve who was in a hurry and chuckled, "oh okay, well that's fine, maybe I'll give her a chance, you always say how I should be open minded and I usually am so.. okay.. you can go shower now since you're in such a hurry" he teased. Bucky grabbed his phone and messaged Brooke sorry for the misunderstanding. If you'd be very kind and pick me up some food I'll pay you back. As soon as you step into the apartment if you want to come back.. you don't have to do anything if you don't want to.

Ana finished getting her hair and make up ready a she stared at herself in teh mirror, "you look great, he'll comment on how gorgeous you are" Emma smiled hugging hr close. "Now go call him or something" Anna laughed, "it's only been an hour and a half, I'll give it another half hour or he could call me too, this was his idea and I'm not sure where we're going so.." she sat on the sofa biting down on her lip nervously. She hadn't been on a date in months so this was all new to her again.

Brooke felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, she would look at it as soon as she could but her ex's Jason was currently ranting in raving. "Right, whatever you say Jason here take your stuff," sighed Brooke as she handed the box to Jason, "Look you've got your stuff and I need to go." Before Jason could answer Brooke slammed her apartment door on him, Jason had grumbled about coming around to her apartment but Brooke was not going to travel halfway across town to a coffee shop to hand him a box. Brooke pulled out her phone from her pocket and ready they text from an unknown number, she quickly worked out that it was Bucky. No worries, give me half an hour and I will back with Chinese, don't worry about the money.

After Steve finished in the shower he headed to his room and found a good pair of jeans and a nice shirt, when he was nearly done Steve thought it was best to give Ana a call. Grabbing his phone and the card she handed him, he gave her a ring, "Hey, it's Steve. I'm nearly ready and was thinking we could go to this little Italian place not too far from the Smithsonian, I can't remember the name of it. But that's if you like Italian?"

Bucky yawned softly as he rolled over to his side closing his eyes for a moment trying to fall asleep, though he sat back up and shook his head. He was more hungry, he didn't feel like she should pay for his food though. Bucky messaged her back sounds great. I won't worry about the money if you let me pay for your food next time.

Ana grabbed her phone when it started it ringing she was so excited to hear back from Steve, "oh hey! yes, I love Italian and I know exactly where that's at, did you want to meet there?" She stood and grabbed a sweater it was a little chilly outside. She made sure to look in the mirror.

Brooke smiled at her phone as she waited in line at the Chinese she quickly replied with i can cope with that. Brooke ordered the Chinese, paid and waited for the set time, when the time was up she grabbed the food and began to make the relatively short journey back to Steve and Bucky's apartment. She passed Steve on his way out in which they shared a brief nod.

"Yeah we can meet there and if we want do something after we've eaten," smiled Steve as he grabbed his jacket and wallet with his spare hand, "I will see you there Ana," as Steve headed for the door. Pulling the phone away from his ear Steve yelled to Bucky goodbye before making his way out of the door. Steve passed Brooke on the ground floor as he made his way out of the building.

Bucky smiled glad that Brooke had agreed on their deal and smiled while he waited. He stood up and walked to the loving room to where he pulled out some movies. He figured that if they were going to eat and spend time together he'd might as well provide entertainment.

Ana smiled softly as she stood up and walked out the door still on the phone "yeah that's great. Sure that sounds fun! I'll see you there then" she said goodbye and hung up as she walked out the building and headed towards the restaurant. Ana hasn't been on a date in awhile so this was going to be interesting.

Brooke reached the floor the apartment was on and knocked on their down as she waited for a response. She hoped this Chinese would settle whatever happened earlier between her and Bucky.

Steve made his way to the restaurant in a short amount of time, instead of heading into the restaurant Steve waited outside for Ana and it was looking to be a nice evening in Washington. Steve had been on some dates after he was found but this time he had a good feeling about the date.

Bucky quickly got up from his seat and walked over to the door and opened the door smiling. "Hey come on in I was setting up for a movie" he chuckled. "Did you want something to drink?" He asked politely and walked over to grab some napkins and silverware.

Ana was so nervous about this date with Steve, he was really cute and he seemed nice and hoped it would go well. She walked up to him with a sweet smile on her face. "Hi, you look nice" Ana said smiling a bit.

Brooke flashed a small smile when Bucky opened the door and asked her to step inside. "I will just have a water please," answered Brooke as she followed Bucky into the kitchen and placed the Chinese down onto a work surface. "What movie were you thinking of watching?" Asked Brooke, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

Steve returned the smile as he saw Ana walking towards him, "Hi, you look great as well," Steve said softly. Then gesturing towards the door he said, "Shall we go in? Ladies first." As they entered the restaurant they waited at a counter and where soon asked how many the table was for, Steve said two and they were quickly sat in a comfortable booth area.

Bucky closed the door after Brooke had entered and smiled softy, "all right," he watched her take a seat in the kitchen. He walked over and grabbed some plates and some cups grabbing the water from the fridge. He poured water into both cups before handing Brooke a fork, "I don't know what would you suggest? we've mostly what you would call classics, something that Steve and I are familiar with, it's a comfort thing," Bucky chuckled.

Ana smiled, "thank you" she walked over to the door and nodded, "well, thank you" and walked in. Walking in she followed Steve to their sitting area, she took a seat in the booth an and bit her lip nervously. "I don't think I've been here before but I've heard great things about it."

"Thank you," smiled Brooke as she took the fork from Bucky. She then handed Bucky his portion if Chinese and Brooke the opened the cardboard box and stuck her fork inside it. "Go then out a classic on, I probably haven't seen it," replied Brooke with a soft smile.

"Same," agreed Steve, he was told it was a good place by Clint. "With this job you don't get much time off to go wine and dine." Their waiter came to their table and handed them a menu each before asking what they would like to drink. "I'll have a coke please," answered Steve, there was no point for him to order alcohol as it had very little effect on him with the serum.
