Devon kept silent as James left. When it was back to just her and Knaves in the shop she turned to him, "He hides his sickness well," She said softly. She tilted her head, studying Knaves, "Why did you tell me?" She asked, brow furrowing, "I'm not family and I do business with the opposing side. Aren't you worried I'll inform the Serafino's about his health?"

Knaves looked at her light heartedly, "my dearest Devon," he began with a small flourish to his words. "If you went and spilled the beans to the Serafino's that would be taking sides, after all that's not what you want. Also if we were taken out of business then you would also lose business. Besides, it was bound to come out sooner or later any way. Medical records never stay hidden anymore." he told her as he picked his bags up and headed to the exit. "Take care of yourself until I see you next okay?" he asked.

Devon watched Knaves head to the door, "Very true, Knaves. Very true," She said softly, lifting her hand in a wave, "See you later. Let me know how satisfied you are with your purchase." She watched him leave, going back to sitting in her chair.

Finn Harper
Finn didn't know what to make of what the man had said, so instead, she just took a drink from her glass because alcohol would make it better. "So, uh, I've never really seen you around," she noted, focusing her gaze back to his again, "And I'm usually always working, especially the night shift."

With a snap and a large sigh, Darren sat back in his chair. This months finances were going smoothly. The shop - illegal aspect aside - was turning a very nice profit in it's own right. He didn't have to fudge any numbers to sustain the building. Just another way to get off the cops' radar he sighed. It was a hard way to stay afloat. Sometimes it bit to be legal to protect the illegal. He pushed back from the desk and turned off his desk light. Still worth it, he thought with a grin. Devon had hated the idea of the boring and outdated light system. He stood up and walked out to see Devon sitting back in her chair. He shook his head, "Devon, would you like to go out on the town?"

Devon had spent the past few minuted spinning in her chair, not stopping until Darren called out to her. She braced a hand on the counter to her left and grinned at him, "Sure! Anything to stop the boredom." She stood from her chair, placed the shop keys in her pocket, and walked to her brother, "Any specific are you want to go to? Oh! And how much did Knaves pay? I'm assuming it was enough since you didn't stomp up here cursing." She smiled at him as they walked from the shop. She'd set the dogs to guard and locked the door.

Darren lifted an eyebrow, "Do you want go drinking, strip club, shopping....? It really doesn't matter to me very much." He smiled as she walked over, "Devon, do you really want to know, or do you want to know so I can lament about why I don't like him?" He poked her forehead before turning away and heading out the door, stopping only to pet the dogs on the head before Devon set them to guard. "And he paid right on the nose. Did I hear James stop by? How is the old man doing?"

Devon sighed as Darren asked about James, beginning to walk down the sidewalk, "James isn't doing so well. He picked up Knaves earlier and you wouldn't tell by looking and talking to him, but apparently the doctors are only giving him about six more months to live." She shook her head, "Shame, really. He was one of the good bad guys." She sent him a grin, "And shopping, really? Sure you're up for that, seeing as the last time I out-shopped you. Spent more money than you did, that's for sure."

Darren turned to look at his sister when he heard the sigh, his heart sank a little. As he listened he stopped to look at Devon. He was about to say something about the news of James before she mentioned their last shopping trip. He crossed his arms and snorted, "You did. That's because you bought 57 pairs of heels that you did not have." He quirked an eyebrow, "How many is that now - 200? 500? Where do you keep them?" He snorted. Then his thoughts turned back to James. "Six months.... this towns going to go through a lot of changes." He looked off, "Devon I know I don't need to tell you this....but I am your brother so, please be careful."

Devon shook her head, "Careful? Darren, we live in a town filled with mobsters." She smiled at him, "I'm only as safe as the gun on my hip and the dog at my side." She tilted her head, "What brought this on? It's more than the death of the Don and James's illness... so what is it?"

Darren shifted his arm over her shoulder, amused by her response. He nodded at her guess. "It is, mobsters are not most what I'm worried about. It's everything. You're everything to me, okay? I hate to think what I'd do to this town if something were to happen to you." He nodded solemnly before turning to her and smiling. "Enough chat. Drinking or shopping my sweet sister?"

Devon laughed, "Well, since I know how much you just love shopping I'll give you a little break." She linked their arms, "We'll go to the bar and have a few drinks. Then, once you're nice and drunk, we'll go shopping and spend all our money." She grinned up at him, "And I'll be fine, I promise. Though the same applies to you as well, brother. I'll literally tear this city apart if something happened to you."

Darren's knees went weak, Oh thank goodness, he thought before she linked arms with him. He smiled at her at the mention of the bar - and then his smile fell as shopping came back up. He smacked her arm. "Good to know. But if you make me spend that much money on shoes in one place again I will curb your paycheck."

Devon shrugged, "Eh, I'm not really in a shoe mood," She said, changing their direction so that they were walking toward the closest bar, "I'm thinking I need some more bags. Large ones, small ones. I think I need a few more hand bags even." she sent a teasing grin to Darren, "An dI need them all in different colors. Bright one, I think. I have too many black purses."

Luca Giuliani

Luca took another sip from his glass, his attention fully on the bartender in front of him. "I usually go down to Joe's, a couple of blocks over." He said, deciding not to mention that he's not actually allowed to visit there anymore. He wasn't too bothered - this bar seemed to fit his tastes more anyway. "My brother mentioned he was down here celebrating, so I thought I'd join in the fun." He grinned, finishing off his glass and then sliding it towards her, for her to fill it again.

Finn nodded a bit, though she didn't really care much for Joe's. It wasn't a bad bar, per say, but it was a bit underdone, in her honest opinion. "Well I guess you came to the right place," she said with a little smile, refilling his glass when he passed it to her, "Derek's kept this bar in pretty good condition. He tries to maintain a vibrant atmosphere."

Luca had to nod in agreement when she mentioned he had gone to the right place. He glanced around the bar - it was certainly a lot more classy than Joe's. "Serafino's come in here often though, don't they?" He questioned, finding it hard to believe that a vibrant atmosphere would still exist with both families in the same room. Although, maybe people had respect for Derek and didn't want to trash the place.

Finn shrugged at his question. "They come, your family comes, it's really a free for all. We haven't made any stands on which family can come and which can't. Derek and I felt it'd be much safer if we didn't hold any grudges or favoritism towards either family. It's good for the well being of everyone." She knocked back the remainder of her whiskey before pouring herself another.
