"To be honest? I don't really 'miss' people. You know what I mean?" he asked, looking over at her, with a weird look on his face. He continued," The last group that actually got in contact with me tried to drag me away to a weird town they had. But.... It wasn't a normal town. See, they wanted to recruit me, and told me what it was all about. They were friendly and took people in, only to hack them up like swine and put them in their food so they didn't have to scavenge. The promise of safety brought the food and supplies to them. Let's just say that I got out of there quicker that they could even raise their weapons." He paused then, and said," Are you a runner or a fighter?"

"It would depend if they plan on running after me." Amber told him honestly. "If there is trouble I rather just leave without either getting hurt. Though if they are going to chase me with guns a blazin then I stand my ground until some sense gets knocked into them and they stop." She rather not fight but if it came down to it it was all about survival. Amber was not going to just let someone shoot her in the back. "And I can see why you might be wary of people after there. There is nothing quite like almost getting eaten by your own kind."

"Yeah, it's quite... Petrifying. I'm not even sure why I let you here for the night to be blatantly honest," He said, chuckling a bit," But regardless, you don't seem the cannibalistic type anyway. I probably wouldn't even taste very good." He chuckled again. and then looked back out the window to the moon now high in the night sky. "But I didn't necessarily mean against our own kind. I meant against the mongrels down there."

(Are the zombies just walkers? Or runners too?)

"Oh you mean what do I do when I encounter a brain eater." Amber said as she ran a hand through her slowly drying hair. "Well I try to avoid them as much as possible. Plus it is never exactly good to start shooting a weapon. You might attract others to you. Normally I try to run for it if I know I can get away. Though if I can't then I'll try to fight and get out of the area as quickly as possible." She gave him a small smile. "And I assure you that you are safe from getting eaten by me at least."

(I think there should also be runners.)

"Oh yeah. Guns are almost never the answer. I just found that somewhere and it was closer to the window upon coming in," he said, gesturing to the gun. " I use a lot of knives primarily. I have a vest in my room for when I go out that has plenty of them. That, and for when the shit hits the fan, some frag grenades I looted off of a changed military man. I mean, if there's going to be loud noises like a gunshot, it might as well be a big, loud, and more effective noise," he said, chuckling.

Amber softly laughed. "I suppose that is one way to look at it. Though you would be easily bringing a whole town of zombies to your door. Anyways I would use knives except that is way too close and personal. Though if you throw then you either risk trying to go get them or leave ten behind. Besides I'm not that well skilled in knife fighting. But my aimming for shooting has gotten creepily good."

"I'm not fantastic with handguns. But, sadly I am with a bow. The reason that that is sadly is because they are no where to be found, because everyone realized that that was the way to go when it came to these things. Although, large arms like bows and rifles get in the way of my freerunning and it becomes a bit more of a danger than an advantage, so..." He said, shrugging.

"So what I am hearing is that you are more of a runner." Amber said, her head tilted a bit. She thought that it was rather uncommon for guys to be more runners than fighters- not that it really mattered. Yet the fact that he did not carry a gun or a bow with him when going out was shocking. "What do you do if you run into a zombie and there is no running? You don't have a bow or a gun on you to fight. Do you have your knives with you or?" Amber pursed her lips a bit. "Or do you just not go out all that often." Surely he had a way to get free.

"Well, I usually have my vest- which holds ten knives. The only reason I didn't have it on me when I came down to get you was because I heard them, and was looking out the window when I saw you heading for the huge crowd of them. So, I had to act quickly. I just climbed down and got you, knowing that I would get back up here as fast as I could anyway. Probably not the smartest of moves, no- but it was the only way that I could get down there and prevent you from killing yourself or coming damn near close to it," he said, chuckling, and cracking his knuckles.

Amber's eyes brighten a bit when he spoke of her almost getting killed. She had no idea that she was walking right into a pack of zombies. After all she had been trying to be careful while going through the town but there was no way to assure that she wouldn't run into one. Sometimes it was not as obvious where they were at times. She glanced down for a moment before looking back up at him. "Thank you." Amber told him with a small smile. "I know that you didn't have to do that. Though living means a lot to me so I am glad that you did jump in."

"No problem. I'd like to think sometimes that if I am that one guy that jumps in, and throws out a rescue raft to someone in need every once in a while, that maybe one day when I need that one person to just come out of their way and do some random act of kindness to save my ass. Maybe it's just one weird, ignorant idea of karma. But sometimes you just have to believe in something when it comes to this apocalyptic hellhole that we call life now," He said, looking out the window towards the night sky.

"I think it makes sense though." Amber told him softly. "Because if someone has done something nice for you, you become more likely to do that same thing for another. Especially during now when everything, everyone seems to be trying to kill you.' She hummed a little in thought before continuing. "People need to be taught kindness and one of the best ways is to be experience it. Though as for it coming back to you the moment you need it. Well that might be wishful thinking but I am sure that someone will give you kindness too."

"I guess," Alexander said, with a shrug, before he rose, and cracked his back. "So, tell me about you, Amber," he said, moving closer to her before sitting down beside her and smiling," Besides the basic stuff about what you've done since the whole apocalypse. Who were you before the who end-of-the-world shit started happening? What did you love to do?"

[I am going to assume that the apocalypse has been going on for a while]

"Probably about the same thing that you were doing. Going to college and trying to get a degree in Biochemistry but sadly I wasn't able to finish before it all ended. Though hey I didn't have to pay for any of it...so there is that..." Amber said with a small laugh before continuing. "I didn't play any sports in college but I did do gymnastics during high school. It has been proven to be useful. Anyways what about you? What did you do before all of this?"

"I actually did not do the whole college thing. I was a competing free runner. I was going to do college once I had done the Athletics thing for a while, but I never got the chance- obviously," he said, chuckling," Although, I don't find that so incredibly terrible. Not much to do with a degree nowadays anyway. Well, that, and the free running has proven to come in much more handy than knowing how to do calculus 2. I did do gymnastics and track and field in high school, as well. What about hobbies? What'd you do for fun?"

"A degree wouldn't have been very helpful. It is just that It would have been nice to have the satisfaction that I finished." Amber told him, making a slight face before continuing. "And what did I use to do for fun? Well I read a lot, a little TV, but mostly I spent time with my friends. Though what I did with them really depended on who I was with. It could have been anything from parties to games to Netflix. I haven't been able to do an of these ghings lately though...How about you?"

"I was very.... Active. Like I said, I was a big free runner. I did a lot of competitions, even some action stunt roles in a couple of very low budget movies. I was in the area at the beginning of the apocalypse for a competition, and then all hell broke loose. On the other hand, though, I really loved playing music. That was kinda what I did to pass time during the apocalypse before... Well, just a while ago," He said, hesitating and frowning towards the end of his statement.

Amber was quiet for a moment as she hesitated to ask what happened. Obviously it was nothing good. After all everyone had their own sad story and he had not been quick to explain why. Some stories were harder to hear than others. Though she knew what it was like to talk about then. Sometimes telling another helped and she knew that from experience. "What happened? If you don't mind telling me that is."

Alexander frowned deeper, and sighed, thinking over about whether or not he should tell her. It took him a minute, before he finally looked up and met her eyes with eyes of pain. "I might have been persuaded if I knew you a little better- but we did just meet a few hours ago, and we already had guns pointed at each others' heads once today. So, I think I will refrain from telling you. Sorry- but some things are best left unspoken," he said, looking away.

"Well I am not going to force you to tell me about yourself. And even if I tried you could always lie and I wouldn't know any better." Amber told him as she pushed herself off of the couch and onto her feet. She stretched her arms and shoulders, trying to loosen up a bit. "It is getting a bit late now and I haven't eaten yet today. So I think I am going to go grab something to much on. You can join me if you wish." Then she moved out of the room, going to where the kitchen was. Sometimes food was hard to come by so when she could grab it she did.
