Waiting for Superman

Annie laughed quietly. "Please don't jinx it. I thought we'd be running on no sleep at all. They don't wake us up in the middle of the night nearly as often as I expected that they would." She told her husband. "I figured we should trying talking about it again...is that something you'd really want to do? Working with Sam I mean? Or would you rather be a part of SHIELD?"

Steve smiled when she kissed his cheek. "I'm a bit more partial to your eyes." He told her, kissing the tip of her nose. "I didn't really see you pushing yourself to me. We just happened to see each other a lot." He chuckled softly. "Alright, I can do that."

Bucky chuckled, "I won't I promise.." He looked at her while walking to take a seat on the couch. "We have to yes.. I. Honestly don't knew. I thought it over again and being part of SHIELD would keep me away from all of you for periods of time.. I see how Iris has to be alone quite s bit when Steve isn't around and I don't want that. I think I'll stay and give this a go first.. I'll be around all the time" he smiled.

Iris touched his cheek with her finger tips, "of course you are, okay hood. I'm glad. I didn't come off as desperate.." She chuckled. She snuggled up against him, "hmm.. This is nice."

Annie laughed quietly. "Good." She pecked him lightly on the lips. She listened as he talked, nodding in response to his words. "If you're ever unhappy with your decision, just tell me, okay? If you end up wanting to work with SHIELD, we can figure something out." She just wanted him to be happy.

Steve smiled. "You could never come off as desperate, sweetheart." He told her. He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, holding her close. "See? Bedrest isn't nearly as bad as you thought it would be, right?"

Bucky smiled, "you taste like candy, what have you been eating? You got into my jelly beans didn't you?" He laughed. His face soften and nodded, "yeah, all right I'll let you know.. I'm not sure if I should.. Well I'll ask Sam once I get in touch with him."

Iris nodded, "okay.. I guess I'm not." She chuckled, "it's not bad because you're here holding me and telling me how cute I am.. I'm lonely most of the time when you're away."

Annie laughed quietly. "I am not going to confirm or deny that accusation." She told him, grinning slightly. She nodded in response to his later words, the expression on her face softening slightly. "I'm sure that Sam wouldn't mind having you around."

Steve kissed the top of her head. "I know, and I'm trying to not be away as often as I usually am. It's hard sometimes though." He told her. He was home more often now, but not often enough in his opinion.

[Okay, what if Steve is away on an important mission when Iris goes into labor? I picture him showing up to the hospital, still in uniform and all battered up and bruised]

[yes that sounds good! It's kind of hot too ]

Bucky shook his head, "you smell like my belly Jeans you ate them! I just know it!" He pulled her into a hug and kissed the side of her head. "Let's hope not, he's more friends with Steve than he is with me,."

Iris looked at Steve and smiled, "I know Hun, and it's okay I know I have to share you with the world.. You're a hero it's kind of your job." She yawned softly, "promise you'll be there for their birth okay?"

[Haha yeah]

Annie laughed quietly. "Well, maybe you shouldn't leave your jelly beans out in the open for anyone to eat them." She argued, smiling when he hugged her and kissed her head. "I don't think he'd say no to you, babe. Just because he's closer to Steve than he is you, that doesn't mean anything."

Steve smiled. "I'm so lucky that you're so understanding." He told her, kissing her head. "Of course, I wouldn't miss something like that for the world." He held her close. "Why don't you get some sleep? You look tired."

[so I'm going to skip.. If that's okay! Lol]

Bucky shook his head, "o thought I could trust you not to eat them!" He chuckled. "Guess I was wrong, " he sighed softly, "well, he could, I'm not really his favorite person. Which is fine I did try to kill him once ."

It's nodded, "yes, you are lucky. I'm not usually this understanding I just really love you.. And you're kind of hot" she giggled. Kissing his jaw, "always trying to put me to sleep.. How awful of you Steve."

[That's fine! I'll let you start us off since I have to go get ready for work ]

Bucky watched the tickets and smiled, "three months old.. I can't believe how time is going by so fast." He smiled picking James up, "if you're anything like me buddy, your mother will have my head" he chuckled. Bucky kissed his son's tiny face. And rocked him in his arms, "Steve still isn't back and Iris has gone into labor that's not a good sign,."

Iris kept insisting that she could wait it out, "you can't do that you're water broke you have to go to the hospital now!" Her sister told her. "Steve will shown up don't worry.." Sam helped Iris up, "your father will too, come on " Iris sighed, "fine.." She let them carry her. "I'm going to be upset if he's not there when I start pushing.. He made a promise!"

Annie smiled, pressing a kiss to their daughter's forehead. "I can't believe it either. I hope it slows down. Before we know it, they'll all be walking. Then we'll really have our hands full." She laughed quietly. "No it's not...has anyone tried calling Steve? I know he's on a mission, but can't he like cut things short or something? Iris is going to be upset if he doesn't get home in time for the twins to be born."

Steve knew that going on this mission was cutting it way too close, but he couldn't not go on it. It was an important one, and Coulson had asked him himself if he could do it. Iris was ever the understanding person, as always, and just asked that he be home when she went into labor. Of course, he hadn't looked at his phone in a couple of days, so how would he know what was going on?

Bucky nodded, "please don't grow up too fast babies," he held James close along with Wyatt. "We'll be running around chansing three instead of one baby so more trouble for us huh?" Bucky shook his head, "not that I know off, Sam tried I think and so did Iris' father" he looked down. "I'll call give me a minute" he said as he placed the babies down on the crib. Grabbing his phone he dialed Steve's number, voicemail, that's great. "Steve it's Bucky, obviously. Iris is going into labor! Where are you?"

Iris was breathing hard as she was being dragged to the hospital, "I need him! He's my support system! He made me a promise. He damn better keep it!" She mumbled. Once in the hospital her father took her to get registered and to a delivery room. "Private just like you asked, now.. Relax I'm sure he's on his way."

"I don't think that's how it works, babe." Annie said, letting out a quiet laugh. "Yeah, it's going to be tough, but I think that, if anyone can do it, we can." She sent a small smile her husband's way. She frowned slightly at his later words. "That's not good...Iris must be freaking out..." She hoped that Steve would get home soon.

This mission was an important one. They were taking out a Hydra base. Of course, it was thought to be dormant, but that wasn't the case. The mission was taking much longer than anticipated because things were a bit more difficult than they appeared at first glance. Steve wouldn't have agreed if he knew how long he'd be gone.

Bucky chuckled, "wishful thinking. I know they'll grow whether we like it or not.. I know we're a great team we can do anything. Even with three little babies running around." He sighed and nodded, "it wouldn't be as bad if he hadn't promised he'd be there.. And she's going into labor now.. They could be born at any time.."

Iris started to cry, "oh sweetie don't cry I'm sure he'll be here," Nina walked over and held her sisters hand. "He told me he would be here and look he's not here yet! This is important too! Also, first babies .. It's bad .." She breathes heavily.

Annie laughed quietly. "Yeah, I guess so." She agreed. "We make a really great team." She smiled. Ever since she and her husband had talked things over a month earlier, they had never been better. "I know...you know Steve though. He wouldn't not make a promise like that to Iris."

If Steve knew what was going on, he'd forget about the task at hand and head home straight away. The thing was, he had no idea whatsoever. And he was kind of busy right now. Hydra anticipated SHIELD showing up. The base wasn't so dormant after all.

Bucky smiled, he was so glad he talked things through with Annie things had certainly worked out for the better. Their relationship was stronger than ever, he was happier than ever. "Well, I hope he shows up, Iris is going to be pissed off if he misses the birth of the twins. I mean.. It's their first children.."

Iris' contractions were getting closer and she was breathing hard and still no Steve. "He's not going to show up is he?" She asked with a sad tone. Nina walked over and kissed Iris' forehead. Iris was in there for hours and the babies didn't seem to want to come out. "You think they're waiting on Steve?" Nina asked with a smile, "feels like it, like that episode of friends when Rachel took forever to give birth.."

Things had been running much more smoothly now that she and Bucky had talked things out. Annie knew that her husband wouldn't keep anything like that from her anymore, and she knew that he knew that he could confide in her whenever he needed to and all that. "I'm sure he'll show up." She said.

Things obviously weren't running as smoothly as Steve and the others had hoped. They all decided to revisit the Hydra base now that they knew exactly what they were up against. They all got out of there, though there were a few minor injuries here and there. Steve was a little bruised and beaten, and he probably looked kind of worse for wear. He hadn't had time to shave or anything like that, so there was a bit of scruff on his face now. He saw all of the missed calls and text messages and voicemails and knew without even looking at them. He needed to get home. Now.

Bucky kissed Annie's cheek, he was so glad that they had worked things out. He didn't like being away from his family he could barely handle it being eight hours a day away. so he couldn't image weeks without being at home. "I hope so, she needs support. I told her we couldn't be there.. But they'll be home with the twins soon enough."

Iris' breathing was heavy as she tried to hang in there, she wanted Steve with her this was important. "I .. Need you here now" she said into the phone, leaving a last voicemail, "please.. You made a promise." Iris sighed softly, closing her eyes. "They.. Just won't come out.. I keep trying" she groaned.

Annie was really glad that she and Bucky had worked things out. "Did you ever talk to Sam about helping out down at the VA?" She asked him curiously. She was glad that her husband hadn't taken the job with SHIELD. She didn't like the idea of him being away from home for weeks at the time, and it would be to do dangerous work too. She didn't know what she'd do without him. He meant so much to her.

Steve felt horrible. He should have known better than to agree to go off on this mission. It was cutting things way too close, but Coulson had asked him, and he knew how important this mission was, so he couldn't exactly say no to the SHIELD director. He hoped that he would get there in time. He didn't want to go back on his promise.

Bucky knew his wife didn't want him to go working for SHIELD and he understood why. His own friend had been gone for weeks now and his girlfriend was going into labor. Bucky couldn't image leaving his family behind for weeks at a time. Bucky nodded, "yeah, I did and he told me he'd talk to whoever he needs to talk to about giving me a job," he looked at Annie. "Don't worry doll, I'm not going anywhere" he said softly reaching for her face and gently touching it.

Iris was starting to lose hope and that was something she didn't really do, but it had been weeks since she's heard from Steve. "I guess, we'll have to go through with this now. He's not coming" she said softly. "We're here for you.." Her sister walked over and rubbed her hand. "She's ready to start pushing?" Nina asked. Iris was breathing hard, "let's do this.. I need them out of me now!"
