Destiny Is a Funny Thing

Mikkie heard her through the door, "okay, I'll just be in bed," he called back to her. He didn't know what to say or do, he could tell she wanted to say something, or something was on her mind, but he didn't want to push the point too much. He headed into the bedroom, and got changed into his pajamas for the night.

Lila came out of the shower in a towel and came int their room silently her belly starting to peek through the towel. She went to her closet and looking around wishing that she had her body back already. Lila sighed and pulled on some shorts and a loose top. She put a hand on her belly moving over to the bed and crawling into it with a huff. Her back was aching already. Her tiny body was not meant to carry a baby.

Mikkie watched her as she came out of the bathroom, and changed. He sat up, "how can I help love?" he asked her gently. He could tell she needed something, or wanted to say something.

"My back is a little tight..." Lila admitted and bit her lip. She knew what he meant. He wanted to know what was bothering her but how did she explain to him she still didn't know what to do? Did she look after herself and her life and loose her child or did she loose herself to care for this baby that she was no where ready for? Neither of them where ready. She didn't want to quit college and go work in a little bookstore back home. Not to mention when someone asked who's baby it was what was she going to say?

Mikkie nodded softly, "okay," he said gently. He shifted, and began to rub her back gently. He thought for a moment, "Lila, I know I've said I'm happy to help with the baby, but, what do you want to do?" he asked her. He continued to massage her back softly.

Lila was glad her back was to him not knowing if she could have this conversation to his face. She bit her lip. "I don't know... What kind of a life will this baby have if it stays with us Mikkie? We are two broke college students and if we keep it then I have to get a job there is no way I could go back to college and take care of the baby and that will put more pressure on you too. I just... I don't know how we can do it but I don't know if I would be good at giving my baby up..."

Mikkie kept quiet for awhile, listening to her as he rubbed her back. 'What if we tried to find someone to look after it, until we graduate?" he asked softly. He rubbed her shoulders, "perhaps one of our parents, could help out," he added.

Lila frowned and looked back at him. "My parents will freak when they find out. You know how driven they are. And I am going towards an BS which means it can take up to 6 years Mikkie. Six years of the child not really seeing or knowing who its parents are? That's not fair." she sighed and turned burring her face in his chest sighing frustratedly. She closed her eyes tight and just breathed him in. "Not to mention the hospital bills." she said and bit her lip.

Mikkie held her close, "yeah, but I'm not," he said softly. "I just trying for a bachelors," he said gently. "besides my parents love you, they were so happy when I told them you wanted to be my girlfriend," he said.

Lila looked up at him her eyes swimming. "You told them?" she whispered amazed. Of course he had, why wouldn't he? His parents where amazing. She hadn't spoke to hers since she got her classes and books but he talked with his parents all the time she just never realized it. A bachelors was still 4 years and they had to pass all heir classes and the maternity leave was not going to help. Laila sighed and nodded. They could do that a little better. "But then you have to get a job straight out of college and we will sill need someone to watch it while we are out all day." she couldn't see how this would work but Mikkie did. Mikkie was sure it would work out. He loved her, he was excited for the baby and he had a support system that would help him the moment he asked for help. She bit her lip and hugged him to her. She understood why she had fallen so deeply in love with him before she had even known it was love.

Mikkie smiled gently, and held her. "If I have to, for you I'd do anything," he said softly. He looked into her eyes, "and I'm sure Mom would be fine babysitting, when we both have to work," he said softly. He pulled her to him, placing his hand on her belly, "it is an option, but I'll support you, whatever you want to do," he said.

Lila bit her lip and sighed. She closed her eyes and nodded. "I know you will Mikkie but I also don't want you to sacrifice the life you want for me or this baby either." she said and looked up at him. "You are so loving you sometimes forget to take care of yourself." she said and rubbed his chest softly.

Mikkie smiled softly, "yeah, I will try to take care of myself," he said. He held her lightly, and kissed her neck.

Lila shook her head. "Please do so Mikkie because I wouldn't be able to stand it if you resented me." she said and kissed him gently. "Come on let's get some sleep." she said and yawned stretching out.

Mikkie smiled and kissed her back, "I will never resent you, my love," he said softly. He cuddled up with her, "Night beautiful," he whispered.

Lila hoped that was the case truly. She fell asleep and woke the next morning with a sigh. She had a doctors appointment today where they where going to talk over some options and both guys where going with her. They had both agreed to it. But it was also a sonogram so they would get to see the baby.

Mikkie drifted off into a gentle sleep, he cuddled up with her. He dreamed soundly about having a family with her. As the morning came up, Mikkie woke, and headed out to the kitchen to make them some breakfast. He began warming up some things, before heading in to check on her. "Morning Lila" he said softly.

Laila looked over and smiled softly. "Morning Mikkie." she said and stood moving over to him and kissed him gently. She looked down at her belly and bit her lip. she just wanted her body back already. "I'm gonna get dressed. I think the appointment is at the hospital today with Dr. Greer right?" she asked and then headed to her dresser looking for some relaxed cloths. She really needed to go get some maternity cloths.

Mikkie smiled and kissed her back. He looked her over, "yeah that is today," he said softly. He watched her, "I've made some food, if you feel like eating before we head out," he told her, before heading back to the kitchen.
