Jake let out a laugh, "I wanted to kill him the entire way here, cus someone thought it was funny to shaking him till he wouldn't stop squalling." He shook his head, noticing Leo laughing at his words. It was his way of getting back at Jake, though it was all in good sport of course. He shrugged off the joking as her father appeared next to them. He had a smile on his face as he stooped down to look at Avery. "Hello princess." He smiled knowing it was something he'd always called his girls. When he didn't get much from her he smiled sadly before nodding. "Alright, well I'm around if you want to talk or catch up." He told her, standing up. "I guess I'll go bother your sister then." He smiled, before heading towards Laney's house. The door was wide open so he took it as they didn't mind visitors.
Laney smiled loving that he was willing to trim up for her. Though she didn't care if he did, she loved her man any way he was. A soft sighed left her mouth as he started to pull her clothes off, it meant she was one step closer to getting lost in him. Laney bit down on her lip letting her head rest back as he moved over her body. The way his hands and mouth explored her she was turning into mush. Squirming around in bed she closed her eyes feeling his lips on her again, her body aching for his touch. A soft moan leaving her lips. "Honey?" Her father's voice rang out from down the hall. Sitting up she pulled the covers over her body, looking at Haden apologetically.

Avery chuckled and smiled at Jake but when her father came over she nodded gently in hello and looked away then back at him as he spoke again. She shrugged. She didn't think he wanted to answer the questions she had in mind as far as catching up and she didn't have the energy right not to deal with it. Avery sighed as he left to go bother Laney. He had no idea what he would be walking into. Haden had just been allowed to shift back. It was not a good time but she wasn't going to tell him no not to see her. That was their business not hers. Avery looked up at Jake. "Let's get some greens for the piglet, maybe we can find something that will help him grow." she said smiling. She didn't suggest they go to far but she really wanted to. Honestly if she could she would get as far away from her father as she could. She was angry with him and she knew it was hindering her judgement of him but other behalf it took a lot to make her truly angry at someone.
Haden groaned feeling her need seeping into his like hot iron in his blood. Haden was just about to rip off his own cloths ant let his animal loose when he head Laney's father and she sat up covering herself. Haden growled softly and tossed himself back onto the bed and rubbed the heel of his hands into his eyes. He took several deep breaths his desired obvious and throbbing so hard it hurt. He felt like he was being torn apart by resisting his mate. "I'll stall him while you dress." he offered though he really just wanted to lock the door and let him come back later he knew it was important to her that her father was here. Haden stood rising her and pulling on his shirt slipping out the door and closing it behind him heading towards the man. "Hello, we haven't met yet... not really." he held out his hand grinning. "I'm Laney's mate." he smiled warmly hating his alpha duties in that moment. "It's good to finally meet you." he said and shook the man's hand.

Jake smiled when she suggested feeding the pig. He knew it was her way of trying to not let her fathers presence effect her. "You that little thing will eat just about any thing you give it right?" He asked her, knowing they could feed it some of the spoiled meat they had and it wouldn't make it sick. Pigs were like sponges when it came to food. He was just glad they found the little fucker. Now they could have a pet and enjoy food once it was big enough. He just needed to figure out how to cut up a pig so they could get the most out of it. "I know you don't want to talk about it, but you know he did offer to answer some of your questions." He told her, "maybe we can write them down or something so that we can get answer even if it takes years." God he hoped he didn't he didn't know how much longer it would take before the packs started to go at each other.
Laney nodded to Haden thankful he was there for her in this moment. She didn't say anything as he walked out to greet her father with a raging hard on. It was quick embarrassing for him to catch her like this. Though she was glad that he didn't walk in on them. The man offered him a smile before shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you." He said kind of stand offish. He knew this man was dangerous, as he'd fought with him and he'd put up on hell of a fight injured none the less. "Trent." He told him not sure what if the girls had ever talked about him. He pulled his hand back, fixing to ask about Laney when she emerged from the bed room. "Sweet heart." He smiled brightly, opening his arms for a hug. Laney threw Haden a quick look before hugging her father. "What are you doing here?" She asked, wondering why now he'd finally decided to come in. When he could have visited her in the past few days. "Well I seen that there fella your sisters with bring in a hog and I figured I'd give my assistance in butchering it. But I didn't want to step my boundaries." He put his hands up wanting her to know he was playing nice. "Though I did want to catch up with my girls." He smiled at her. Laney nodded hearing his reasoning. It was nice of him to offer, but she knew they had been feeding their pack too. So it didn't hurt to correspond with each other. Though she didn't know how long this would last.

Avery chuckled and nodded. "I know we could but still. Good food for the baby that just lost it's family isn't to much." She said and started to walk with him out of camp. She trusted him so they walked a little farther from where she had been with Penny earlier. Avery sighed. "That would be nice Jake if I believed he would tell me the truth." She sighed and looked up at him before explaining. "He let us believe he was dead leaving my sister to care for me. I don't care what his excuses are it doesn't make it right. The first year yeah maybe but not after that. It's been too long for him to be able to say anything that makes it okay. Avery took his hand and laced her fingers with his as they looked at the ground for things to take back for the pig or themselves if they found anything helpful. She shrugged. "Besides I don't really like the way he is just trying to win us over by using old time filings. He's not taking any ownership of anything." she said and sighed stopping and looking up at Jake running her hands up his chest.
Haden smiled and nodded. "Haden." he said offering his own name relaxed as they waited for Laney. He smiled at Laney as she tossed him a look. He tried to keep it cool and understanding but he knew inside she could feel the desire still rolling off him and his frustration at bring interrupted. Haden opened himself to his pack and smiled hearing the news and feeling their peeked interest in his involvement. He even could hear their smirky remarks about his pint of energy. He looked at Trent and knew they would have to have some alpha talks here soon. He couldn't keep allowing this tense truce to continue it would destroy both their packs if they had to continue fighting or resources. It was not going to be an easy conversation. He would put it off just a bit longer. He wanted to tell the man to go away and come back later but this was Laney's father. "Laney why don't you let your dad show you how to cut up that pig? None of my pack members have much experience with it." he said giving her an opportunity to hang out with her father. "I really should go meet up with Leo and Kyle and see how it is going." he said thinking they would need to go on extended hunting trip here soon where they would drive in the prey onto their land. It was more dangerous because they could run into other wolves as well but with he other pack here it was going to become a necessary risk sooner rather than later.

Jake smiled down at her as she ran her hand up his chest. If she wasn't careful he'd be taking her back to camp and to their house. He wasn't one to deny his desires of her, but his had little energy left after caring that pig. So if anything happened between them it would be her riding him. Turning his attention to his mate he smiled softly at her. "So you don't think anything he said was true?" He shook his head, he didn't know the man so the question he was asking was necessary to him and the pack, as it kept them safe. "I know baby, but think about it from this point of view. If he showed up a year later and demanded that you two go with him, you wouldn't have batted an eyes. Why because you loved him and anything he told you would be true?" He asked her shaking his head. "Your lying to yourself if you believe that. Him leaving for any amount of time wasn't right. At all, but as a wolf you do things for those you love more than you do for yourself." He told her. "I don't think you have to trust him, or even love him. But you need to talk to him." He told her before pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Get all this off your chest, and then asked him your questions, because you know telling him you think he's a liar is and letting him hear your reasoning of it is only going to push him to tell the truth." He didn't know this man, but as a man he knew it was hard for him to keep up with a lie. Because once on lie was told you had to use another and another to cover it up. Then you had to remember them all. And Jake was smart but he wasn't that smart, Avery on the other hand was that smart. Her mind was like a sponge. It keep everything locked inside. He knew he wouldn't ever be able to hide anything from her, but that made him love her all the more.
Laney smiled at Haden, before lean over and giving him a swift kiss. Pulling back she winked at him, "love you." She teased him, knowing that it was getting to him far to much. She quickly ushered her father down the stair. They needed to start carving a pig. And she was excited to get to spend time with him again. So much so that she'd forgotten most of the questioned she's set out to ask him. None of them seemed to be important anyways. She didn't care about the lost time, it gave her a chance to meet new people. Because if he hadn't of shown up now she'd never had met Haden and that much she was thankful for. It was why she and Avery were so different. Laney understood when to push thing for safety reason. Where as Avery was one to do it for personal gain. There was nothing bad about it but they were two peas in a pod. It was just who they were and part of that was because of the man that had just waltz right back into their lives. "Well we've got a bit of time before it drains." He said to her after they'd managed to hoist the pig up by it's hind legs and slit it's throat. "Care to go on a walk?" He asked knowing it could be an hour or two before the pig was fully drained of blood.

Avery bit her lip. "I think he is here to see us and get to know us but I don't believe that is it. I don't think he comes in peace and I wouldn't trust him completely." she said sadly looking at Jake. "He won't harm me and Laney but if it came to it he would leave the pack in danger as long as he could save us." she said. She wanted the pack to be causous but she didn't want them to start something. It wasn't a good idea. Avery sighed softly and nodded. She hugged him and sighed. "You're too good for me." She said and leaned up on her toes kissing his lips gently. She smiled and took his hand resuming their walk. She would ask to speak with him tomorrow. For now she needed to get her thoughts together. The problem was that she was so emotional about it all she couldn't think clearly she just wanted to hit him and scream and cry. "I think you're right but I think it would have been easier than now, a year is enough time to get to know your wolf but this, I don't know what he was doing all this time, it doesn't make sense to me. It makes even less sense why he is back now." she sighed and shook her head. It hurt her head to think about why her father was here now.
Haden smiled as she left even though it pained him. He watched as she went with her father and they started the process. He knew it was right to let her go but it felt so wrong. He didn't trust that man. There was something he wanted and it wasn't just to reconnect with his daughters. Haden smiled seeing Penny. He sat with her asking what she needed help with. He knew there was always so much to do but his pack was to good about just doing it and not asking for help. Haden grinned as she put him on light duty. Avery must have told the pack to take it easy on him. She was a feisty one, little and deceivingly feisty. He was interested how she would be as a wolf but would never push the issue. She seemed like she would be ready one day to accept it all but was just taking her time. It was a lot to get your head around.

Jake listened to her as she spoke about not trusting her father. It wasn't something he liked to hear, it made him want to run him off faster than before. But it did have him thinking about every possible reason why he was back now. "I couldn't tell you, maybe he wanted to protect you from the big bad wolves." He teased her talking about how he was a wolf. Though he was least likely to hurt her over anyone else. Wrapping his hands around her waist he pulled her into him, he didn't stop them from wandering back towards camp. He just wanted to have her in his arms. Something in the way she spoke made him feel like she just needed to be held. And he was more than happy to hold her. "What would you say to going out tonight, taking some food and laying under the stars?" He asked her, he knew the perfect place to go. And since they all weren't running around trying to keep the pack safe he could sneak off with her and enjoy some alone time. Plus he also knew that she enjoyed being outside at night.
Laney smiled as her dad led her into the ticket, she was curious of what he wanted to say to her that he couldn't say in camp. Honestly some of the things he'd been doing was raising flags for her. But she knew this man had his reason, and if they were known immediately they'd come out sooner than later. She just felt like they'd missed a step somewhere and was trying to find it. But at the same time this was different then before. She couldn't quite place her hand on it. "So tell me what's going on with Avery?" He asked she'd never been this stand offish with him. And it worried him that it wasn't fixable, and he didn't like that. "I couldn't tell you she seemed fine to me the last I saw her." She wasn't sure what he was referring to. She watched as he shrugged before going silent. "So how have you been?" She asked she could tell they were both at a loss at where they should begin. "I've been better." He told her, "though I really can't complain besides not having my girl I've been doing alright." He told her, "what about you, tell me what happened why your with these wolves?" The way he said it made her stomach flip. "Well it's a long story, but they're the lesser of two evils." She told him, a soft sigh leaving her lips. She didn't feel like she needed to defend her choice with her dad. "Haden is a really good man," she told her dad. "Yeah, look around you." He told her, causing her to take a step back blinking at him. "What is that suppose to mean?" She asked. "A good man doesn't let his family do with out." He told her, "I've been having to bring food in here to feed you girls." He told her. "Stop." She told him before shaking his head. "Do you know how Haden got hurt?" She asked him, "of course you don't, but he got hurt taking on a moose, actually he threw himself in front of it so that it didn't kill Kyle." She told him, "and that moose would have lasted up a week maybe more, but your pack was being feed with it." She looked at him. "Yeah I know Char and Penny keep me well informed, so don't act like they're bad." She couldn't believe that he was pulling this. "Well my bad, all I seen was a man laid up in bed letting everyone else take care of him." He told her, Laney shook her head. "He would have been better a while ago but you made sure he took longer to heal." She said to him, her hands moving to her hips. She really wasn't going to have this discussion with him. "He really is an amazing man." She told him.

Avery chuckled and hugged him. "Yes because you are just so scary." she said and kissed his cheek chuckling. She loved that they walked as one being in his arms. She needed his support so much right now. She was glad Jake was someone she could talk to about all this. It was hard to think about what it was like before him. He suggested a date and she beamed. "I would love that." she said and stopped turning to him and wrapping her arms around his neck. "I think I could really use your company right now." she said and giggled kissing him softly. "You are amazing you know that?" she asked him. Avery took his hand trying not to push his patience too much and taking him back to camp. They fed the piglet and she smiled seeing the pig draining. It looked like someone figured it out. She smiled at Jake. "I will see you tonight. I am going to help Char." she said and went to go see her where she was usually working. She knew if she didn't give Jake breaks she would jump his bones or him to her.
Haden was out catching up with his pack giving them guidance and helping with whatever light duty he could. It seemed Avery had throughly warned or begged the pack on his behalf. He chuckled. That girl was amazing. He shook his head as Penny brought him some water and told him to sit down. Haden smiled as he saw Jake. "Hey doc." he called and chuckled as Avery waved taking off down towards the river. Haden smiled at Jake. "Hey how is it going?" he asked. He could see despite Avery being upset with her father she was in an exceptional mood and it was only Jake he could contribute it to. He hoped Laney was having a good time with her father. He was worried about the man but he needed to trust Laney. She was capable to do just about anything.

"Hey, hey, hey." He said chasing after her and grabbing her arm as she leaving him. "You're not trying to leave me like that?" He teased her, before pulling her to him. His hand gripping her waist while the other cupped her face. Leaning down he captured her lips, taking his time to lavish a kiss upon her lips. He pulled back when he could feel her want rising. "Don't miss me to much." He teased her, before placing a quick kiss to her lips then darting away from her. He walked over to Haden a smile plastered on his face. "It's a bit rough on her with her dad being around." He told him honestly. "But I've promised her I'd take her out tonight for some time under the stars." He said he knew that things were on edge that's why Leo would be running a perimeter while they had there alone time. He'd told the man it wasn't necessary but he'd insisted. Jake connected his mind with his alpha to let him know he was taking care of it, and let Haden know all the things Avery had said about her father. It was hard for him to keep it from the man. But if his own daughter knew he was up to something then they needed to be aware.
Laney watched as the fight left her fathers eyes, he knew that she was tough and she wouldn't except anything less than perfect in a mate. Smiling she nodded when he wasn't going to trash he mate any more. "I guess I'll just have to take your word on it." He told her before leading her back towards camp. Once there they managed to check the pig to see if it was fully drained. "You should remember how to do most of this," he pointed out to her. "Though pigs are just a bit different in where you want to cut for separation of the meat." He told her knowing she'd always worked on smaller animals. The skinning process is still the same though. And she didn't need to be told twice on how to do that. So she made a shallow cut along the length of the pig, from the slit in the throat all the way to it's hind haunches. Once it was done she returned back down the the cut in the throat, slipping her blade in between the meat and the skin she started to cut. Taking her time as rushing could result in the loss of meat. And right now all meat was precious.

Avery smiled as she lazily floated over the ground her mind and body following after Jake as she forced herself to go work. There was only one things he wanted now and she shook her head. He did that on purpose and he knew she would miss him terribly now. She smiled as she saw Char. Char knew instantly. "Get that stupid grin off your face and let's work." Char chuckled smiling at her playfully. Avery giggled and nodded moving to Char as they started on the firewood and the other million little chores they had. Avery soon was working hard her mind focused. It seemed so short but Char stopped her. "It's almost dinner time. Why don't you go wash up." she said smiling. Char knew she had a date with Jake and wanted her to feel relaxed. That girl had been great for the pack and she and Jake deserved it. They had really been helping despite everything. Char had noticed the tension before Avery and her father and knew it was always on her mind. This was a chance to let it slip away for a while.
Haden smiled at Jake and nodded. He had worried about Avery. He knew Laney was the one spending all the time with her father, when she wasn't with him which currently was driving him crazy. As Jake shared how Avery was feeling he nodded. It was good to know. He would watch Trent more closely and his pack that was hiding out somewhere on his land. He really did need to make a point to go see where they where and make a visit now that he wasn't injured. He needed to find a way to do so without it seeming hostile. Haden smiled at Jake and nodded. "Thanks Jake." he said glad his friend and his mate where doing well despite it all. Haden looked up as Laney came back to camp. He smiled watching her. She was very skilled and he hoped that one day when she was comfortable with her wolf she would use her skills to help in a hunt. She would be great at it but only when's he was ready. Haden smiled watching her with her father. He really hoped the man would stop what he was doing secretly and just enjoy his daughters. It must be hard after so long already.

Jake smirked at his alpha before clasping him on the shoulder. "No problem." He looked over at Avery he watched as she avoided camp he could tell that she didn't want to run into her dad. He couldn't help but let a goofy smile pull on his lips. Shaking his head he decided it was time to get things ready for their night alone. He headed into their house finding a blanket and a bag. Folding the blanket he put it in the bag, then headed outside. He knew they still had some beef jerky in the pantry so he headed there to grab a bit of it. Though Penny scolded him telling him that wasn't a dinner. He shrugged, "gotta work with what you got." He told her, she nodded then told him she'd keep him and Avery some food. They could eat when they returned to camp. It was good for the young to enjoy their time together. He went down to the lake where she was washing up. "Hey beautiful." He said to her, leaning down to fill up his canteen. "Are you ready?" He asked his voice soft and husky. He knew that it was one that called to her, she always got the look on her face and her cheeks heated up. He couldn't help but let a smile form on his lips before grabbing her hand and leading her out of camp.
As she worked on dividing the pig her father stood back instructing her on where to cut. And it had been so much easier since she'd been changed into a wolf. Breaking bones and cutting through the tendons. Smiling softly as she finished she grabbed the pig skin and hung it up to dry, she could use it to sew into some of Avery's clothing as winter was fast approaching. And since she was the only human among them she'd need it first. Since there was no telling how bad the winter would get, it never hurt to prepare for it. Once she was done she headed down to the stream to wash up, doing her best to get all the blood off her hands and arms. Though she knew there was no help for her shirt as they'd never get the blood out of it now.

Avery looked up as she heard Jake. She had just dried off her face and hands but his voice sent chills over her body. She looked at Jake her eyes holding desire and yet a tenderness that she saved only for him. She nodded and stood moving over to him. He took her hand in his strong ones. They where so amazing. She smiled as they started to head out of camp. She knew it wasn't quite safe with the other pack out but she knew Jake would keep her safe. Avery smiled as she clung to his arm as they moved through the trees. When they came to a clearing she helped him set up a blanket and sat down smiling as he pulled out jerky. She chuckled and kissed him softly. It didn't mater to her because she was just glad to have this time with Jake. Avery smiled as she leaned into him. "How was your day?" she whispered looking up at the stars.
Haden smiled as he helped penny put the meat on the fire to smoke and cook so it could be stored longer. They took care of everything with the pig smiling. He knew Laney really did a good job. Haden came over to Trent and smiled. "She is quick with a knife." he chuckled knowing how well that knife could be an emotional one as well. Haden grinned as he talked with Trent. "I am guessing you taught her that." he said wondering what all Laney had learned from him. Haden really was hoping that Trent would talk with him and they could start to form some kind of a bond for Laney's sake. He hoped Avery would come around for him as well.

Jake smiled as he had to slow down as he helped her through the forest. Sometime he forgot she was still human, but he love how she clung to him. Once they were in a clearing he looked around, before finding a good spot to lay out and look at the stars. They still had a little bit of time before it got really dark. He sighed as he sat down, before pulling out the jerky. He didn't know when the last time she ate was so he wanted to at least get something on her stomach. He smiled as she kissed him, pulling away he watched her as she cuddled up to him. He couldn't help but drapes himself around her, holding her waist as he laid back. His eyes close lightly, but he opened them as she questioned him. "It was great." He told her, though he hated that the pig they had wouldn't last them as long because her dad's pack. He didn't want to complain because he did want her to at least talk to her father. "And I see you've made a new friend." He teased her about the baby pig.
Laney pulled her shirt off before throwing it on the ground beside her. She was thankful she' been wearing a bra today. But it was lightly stained with blood but nothing she couldn't get out. She started to wash off her chest and stomach getting what blood off she could, knowing she'd need to bath. But she could see the wolf on the other side of the water, he though he was well hidden but her sharp eyes caught sight of him shortly after her shirt came off. She knew it was one of her father's pack members, but he was barking up the wrong tree. Standing she wiped herself off before standing and smiling at Penny as she offered her a clean shirt. "You know Haden would rip him to shreds if he seen him." She said, knowing that she'd caught on to the wolf lerking too. "Well then lets just pretend we didn't notice him." She said taking the shirt from her. "Thanks." She pulled it on before turning with the woman and heading back towards camp. "Though I don't want any girls bathing alone." She told her knowing it was best to keep on their toes. Even if they were wolves it still didn't stop men from trying. Shaking her head she headed over to her dad and Haden smiling as see seen the two talking. "Oh no she took to the knife like it was something she was born with." She heard her dad say. "Now the gun that was a bit harder for her but she's and excellent shot now." He smiled, knowing he was boasting about Laney a lot. "Now Avery that girl, she was to kind heart never would touch any of them." He shook his head, smiling sadly he was a bit sad he hadn't gotten to teach her the thing he did Laney.

Avery chuckled as he said she made a friend. "Well he is so cute." she said and giggled looking up at him. "I can't help it I just want to take care of him as long as I can." she said knowing he would die for food one day and it would break her heart but she understood why. "It was good to see Haden out and about. The pack really needed it." she said and smiled. Though she was surprised he had let Laney out of the bedroom at all being separated by fur for so long. The stars twinkled out one more at a time as the sun rays started to fade. "So did you bring me out here just to talk my love?" she teased knowing.
Haden smiled. "She is handy with a knife now too. She rather use it to heal but she could inflict damage if she needed to. I don't think she would touch a gun still though." he chuckled. "She's a sweet girl and has made herself invaluable to those around her. She's an amazing healer. Even learning the wolf anatomy." he said knowing he would appreciate knowing that about his daughter. "Are you staying with us for supper?" he asked asked smiling as Laney came back to camp watching her like she was everything to him because she was. He really was hoping to get Laney alone sometime soon this waiting was driving him insane. Every glance at her hit him deep inside.

Jake stare up at the stars as they dotted the sky, he was rather enjoying just being out here with her. But he knew there was something nagging in the back of his mind. He hated being away from the camp while her father was just inside it's walls. He knew he shouldn't push her and it was the main reason why he'd suggested they go off and enjoy the night to themselves. Sure he'd love to get lost in her, but right now he couldn't get over the feeling they were being watched. He knew Leo lurked in the darkness but it wasn't him that was giving Jake these feelings. A soft chuckle left his lips before he turned to look at her, grabbing her hand he brought it to his lips before placing a kiss to it. "As much as I'd love to strip you and have my way with you." He started. "I brought you out here so you didn't have to face your father right now." He smiled at her. "He's in camp with the others." He leaned into her a bit before placing his lips next to her ears, "besides we're not alone out here." He informed her, he knew that the mating had a strong pull. But he really wanted her to be level headed just in case. So even though he wanted to take her to bed right now he was more concerned with making it back to camp safely.
Laney looked at Kyle as she enter camp, her eyes hard though she tried her best not to let emotions read on her face. "How is the paw." She asked the wolf, knowing he'd understand that she was only looking for him to answer if he could use it or not. Once he was on his feet she nodded before smiling at Char then heading off to her father and mate. Plastering on a smile as she walked up to them. "What are you two talking about?" She asked raising a brow at Haden when her father excepted an invitations to dinner. She watched as her dad moved away from the two of them heading towards the camp fire. "You invited him to dinner?" She asked him, before smiling softly up at him. Moving towards her mate she placed her hands on his chest before smiling up at him. "I love you." She whispered to him before placing a soft kiss to his lips. She could feel the built up frustration between the two of them. But she was doing her best to ignore the feelings she got from his touch.

Avery frowned as Jake brought up her father. She frowned deeper when he said they where not alone. She leaned her head onto his shoulder. "Buzz kill." she whispered and smiled softly. She was glad for the break. She needed it not to be around him right now until she got to talk to him one on one. Avery really wished this was a simple get out of the camp for a night kind of thing but obviously even that was ruined by her father and her mood was quickly following. She frowned and sighed. "Kiss me." she said softly knowing that only a kiss and Jake were going to pull her out of this quickly dissolving mood. Avery ran her hands into his hair as she looked up at him the stars sparking behind him like a lovely backdrop. With him everything could be going wrong round them and as long as she had Jake she knew it would be okay.
Haden grinned as Laney came up and he wrapped his arms around her waist. "I did." he said and grinning at that award winning smile she was giving him. He cupped her cheek. "I love you too Laney with all my heart." he said softly and kissed her back the intensity more than he had intended. It was the mating still strong inside him wanting her more and more. He ran his hands up her sides and could then feel the eyes on him. He sighed and placed his forehead on hers his eyes still closed at he took deep breaths. "I am afraid my love I will need you to pull away for I do not have the strength." he smiled and looked at her softly. He adored her truly and hoped that this dinner went by quickly so he could get her back to their room.

Jake let out a soft laugh as she demanded his kiss her. Not that he was oppose to it, he was just a bit amused she would be this demanding of it. "Needy." He teased her, before he cupped her face and placed his lips on hers. He'd planned on letting this night slowly progress into love making under the stars. But after feeling their eyes on him he knew he wasn't going to allow her to be subjected to men watching them enjoy each other. Some may enjoy it, and who knows he might have before the wolves, but this was his mate and her body was for his eyes only. He'd kill anyone who thought they could dare defile her. Letting his feeling poor into the kiss, he wanted her to know just how much he needed her. His want for her didn't just go away because they weren't alone. It just grew and he became more impatient to get her home. Breaking the kiss he slowly trailed his lips along her neck, nipping and sucking as he went. "I want you," he informed her, knowing that this was effecting her just as much as it was him.
Laney panted lightly as she tried to calm herself down, having him in her arms she could feel the pull. It was something so foreign yet she'd felt it all along. It'd been a while since she'd really given into her feelings, let them pull at her still she couldn't stand them anymore. She knew that it was something they were going to be giving into before the night was over. But right here and now, they had to focus on being what the pack needed and not what they wanted. Hearing his words a soft laugh broke through her pants, she couldn't help it. "What makes you think I do." She teased him, knowing they were both aching to take the other. It was the pull of their wolves something that was keeping their fighting at bay for the time being. Hearing someone clear their throat Laney tore her eyes from Haden to taken in her dad. "Coming?" He asked her, before moving towards the camp fire. It was something she welcomed, the distraction. She didn't know what it was but it was like a bucket of ice water had just been dumped on her libido. Taking a seat next to her father she quickly fell into the conversions they were having. She couldn't help the smile that pulled at her lips as Haden took a seat, her eyes soaking him up as he sat down eating. She was glad she was getting this chance. Even though they were all a bit on edge she could she how the pack put forth effort in trying to include her father in their topic for dinner. It was pointless and idle talk but it was something to fill the void. "Night." She smiled at Char as her and Kyle made their way back to their place. Penny having left a while back to take Leo some food. She smiled turning to look at her mate, he was in conversation with her father.

"Only for you." Avery whispered and smiled kissed him back moaning against his lips as he kissed her like every kiss was more important than the last. She could honestly say to anyone who asked that each moment Jake loved her more and more and that was the best feeling in the world. Avery could feel her head spinning as his kiss grew the need inside of her. She knew he was boarding on taking her home and ravishing her until the sun came up... again but she could feel the restraint that it took inside of him to not. His lips moved down her neck and she gasped. "Jake." she let her head fall back as she clung to him wanting those hungry lips all over her but knowing it would have to wait. If she ever found out who it was watching them she would tear them a new hole that they would never be able to heal from. To her at this moment it felt like there was no worse sin that keeping those mated from each other in any sense of the word. She could feel her body growing impatient with her desired as his hurried desperate words brushed in gushes of warm air upon her neck. She moaned. "I need you Jake always." she whispered and dropped her head to his nibbling at his ear. She kissed his neck gently and pushed him onto his back laying her head on his chest looking up at the stars. "Thank you for bring me out here. I really needed to get away." she said softly listening to the rapid beat of his heart. She could feel her own heart raining against her chest with a desperate need to pull itself out of her chest and plop right into Jake's hands.
Haden sighed as he heard Trent laying his head on Laney's shoulder a moment as she turned. He straightened and looked over as Laney walked towards the pack. He sighed again running a hand through his hair. He walked back towards the pack patting the guys on the shoulder as he passed coming and siting beside Trent his normal spot next to Laney taken. He adored his pack. They really tired to be good to Laney's father. They talked with him and shared food with him without so much as a side glance even if the atmosphere was a bit stiff. He smiled as his pack as they started to take off. "Kyle keep off the leg like Avery told you to please." he said and smiled looking at Char sending a private thought to her which she nodded at then helped her mate off to their house. When Penny and Leo left he nodded. "Night guys, I have the clean up Penny." he said and she grinned leaning over pressing her head to his in a sisterly sort of way. He watched them go before turning back to Trent. "Anyways I was thinking we might need to coordinate with your pack to find some better hunting grounds for game, the pickings around here are getting pretty slim." he said hoping to work out some issues now that he was finally able to speak. He was thinking this one should be an easy solve. They just needed to agree on scouting and hunting teams between the two packs.

Jake panted, a soft smile on his lips as he laid there staring up into the night sky. He was thankful that she'd broke away from him and gave him a bit of space. His wolf wasn't to happy about it. But he knew that if they'd continued kissing and touching they wouldn't have stopped. And the unwelcome guest would have gotten a rather enjoyable show, one which he wasn't willing to share. His ears perked up as he picked up the sound of movement, well aware that it was Leo. He could tell that he was moving closer. It could only mean one thing, something was forcing him to retreat. Which meant it wasn't safe as they'd hoped it was. They knew nothing about this other pack and it seemed like they were set on keeping them pinned to home. It wasn't something Jake liked, he knew if it came down to a fight they'd lose. And he couldn't imagine what would happen them. He couldn't lose Avery. "You're very welcome love." He whispered to her. He closed his eyes for a moment hoping to focus on who ever else was out there. After a few minutes he gave up, turning to look at her he smiled. "I love you." He told her before placing a kiss to her forehead, then a soft gentle kiss to her lips. "It's getting pretty cold, we should head back." He told her, wanting to keep her mind on the enjoyment and not the possible danger.
Laney watched as the pack started to head off, she was a bit worried about the way things would turn out. After noticing the wolf lurking on the other side of the lake she was a bit on edge. Though she could be over thinking things, she did have a tendency to do that. But it was one of the few thing that had kept her and her sister safe for so long. She sent Penny a soft smile as the woman disappeared into her house. Her smile turned to her mate as he started to be a diplomatic leader. She knew that he was just meaning to focus on the issues of food, which was an easy one. Though she could tell by the look on her father's face that he wasn't to convinced that Haden was a good leader. Even though she'd explained things to her father, he wasn't buying it. "Typical, can't do it yourself so you ask others to do it for you." Trent said shaking his head, "and this is the man you chose to be with?" Her father turned to look at her, "yes." She quickly said, knowing that what ever he'd started she wasn't going to be able to defuse. Haden wasn't a horrible leader like her father believed, and she'd already spoken on Haden behalf. But her father speaking ill of Haden to his face, it wasn't a smart option.

Avery smiled softly looking in his eyes. She nodded slowly after a while. "Of course." she said knowing it wasn't the nip in the air that was having him ask her to head back. She stood helped him pack and headed back towards the camp hand in hand. She made small talk as they walked looking up at Jake. She could tell he was listening closely to whatever was going on. She wished there was something more she could do to help him but there really wasn't other than letting him be the protector. They waled towards the camp and she was making herself enjoy the walk with her mate regardless of everything else going on. "I really enjoyed getting out with you tonight." she said and kissed his cheek. Tomorrow she knew she would have to talk with her father, confront him and listen. It was important to try and rebuild that relationship like Jake had said. She was nervous about it but she knew no matter what Jake would be there for her during it.
Haden thought tonight was going well and it was really about time something good happened for them all. He was shocked at the statement that came out of Trent's mouth. A growl slipped out of his throat and he sat back. "Excuse me what are you saying?" he asked his frazzled nerves already on edge. Haden had been patient with the man all day as he interrupted him and Laney's mating calls. He was patient and understanding letting him take his daughter off to be with her while he saw to the pack after having been away for so long. Haden stood as Trent did taking in the hostel intent. He cold tell it was a trap but his wolf was shaking with anger. The only thing holding his wolf back was the control Haden was holding so tight to. "My pack and I are very capable, we have been carrying you as long as you have been here actually. I was simply asking for you to start carrying your weight." he growled softly as he stepped forward his hand pressing to Laney's arm really wishing she would step aside now and let the alpha's handle this. She was a lone wolf she didn't understand how he was trying to protect her and the pack right now. He had been aiming for civil but it did not seem Trent was wanting anything civl.
