We Ain't Ever Getting Older

Dean was ready to fall asleep, he could feel it right there but it seemed that the universe had other plans for him because the door to the Impala was opening and his one hand reached around frantically for the knife that was stowed away in the back of the passenger seat. He only began to relax when he realized it was Raelynn and not an enemy. Well, not an enemy that was ready to kill him.

He let out a sigh as he sat up, refusing to look in Raelynn's direction. "Figured you two would want to go to the motel soon.." he trailed off with a shrug of his shoulders. "So I didn't want to get all the way to the motel only to have to come back here to pick you two up."

Dean grumbled as he leaned forward, setting his elbows on his knees. "Is Sam ready? Can we go? I'm pretty damned tired."

Raelynn couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Dean’s attitude. He was always such a baby. She reluctantly went inside and grabbed Sam and explained to him that Dean was ready to go. This was supposed to be her night to unwind and relax, but here she was once again, dealing with a grouchy Winchester. If it wasn’t one, it was the other.

When they arrived back at the hotel she watched Dean flop down into the bed she had been sleeping in. Her eyes flicked from Sam’s bed to the other. She sighed and eyes the small lounge chair that was off to the side. She decided that would be her best option. She made her way over to Dean, tugging on one of the several pillows he was laying on. He was also laying on her blankie. “Hey, can I have this pillow and my blanket, please?”

Dean had been so satisfied when they reached the motel that he ALL but threw himself down into the first bed that he reached. He groaned into the pillow that his face was buried into and began to hopelessly try to kick off his shoes. He waved off Raelynn's attempt to gather her things and instead reached out blindly, fingers grasping for any part of her that he could reach. When he grabbed her jacket, Dean tugged her down onto the bed, rolling away just in time so that she wouldn't land on him.

"And where did you plan on sleeping? The damn chair?" Dean grumbled, lifting his head to fix her with a rough look. "Lay down and relax, Rae. Come on."

Raelynn sighed as she felt herself being pulled down into the bed. She couldn't remember the last time she had shared a bed with Dean. But she was exhausted, so she guessed it didn't really matter. She kicked her shoes off and wiggles out of her jeans as she slightly cuddled into Dean. "You're still laying on my blanket." She whimpered as she pulled it out from under him. She balled the tattered blanket up and stuff it under her chin as she turned away from Dean.

Raelynn's eyes closed as she listened to the rhythmic breathing that was happening behind her. She waited until she knew Dean was asleep to scoot father back into him, seeking the comfort that only he could give her. When she felt she had gotten comfortable enough, she allowed herself to close her eyes and begin to drift off.

"So?" Dean answered with a small smirk settling onto his features. He lifted himself up just enough so that she could pull the blanket out from under him. He only offered the smallest of smiles when she looked up to him before he settled into the mattress. He kicked his shoes off, not bothering to check where they landed somewhere within the room. Dean ignored the looks that Sam kept throwing their way and settled his head into the pillow beneath. He let out a small sigh of relief and was quick to fall asleep.

Even in his sleep, when Rae cuddled back into him, Dean's arms found themselves wrapping around her waist to pull ever closer. He mumbled something that sounded like love before burying his face into the back of her neck, perfectly content.

Raelynn’s breathing hitched as Dean reached out and wrapped his arms around her. Her heart was pounding, sitting in the bottom of her throat. What the hell is even happening? Did he just mumble I love you? Raelynn didn’t care. The familiarity of being with Dean was taking over all of her senses. She was comfortable. She intertwined her legs with his before falling asleep.

When she woke up, her face was buried in Dean’s chest, one of her hands clutching the fabric of his t-shirt. It felt like he was trying to move away, but half asleep she moved closer to him. “Stop it,” she mumbled sleepily. “I’m comfortable.”

Dean had woken up early in the morning, part from the need to pee and part from the faint hint of light that shown from behind the blinds. He tried to shuffle away from Raelynn, only to realize that certainly wasn't going to be happening when she insisted on following him right over the edge of the bed.

"You need to let me up," Dean grumbled, trying to nudge her away from him. "I'll be right back though, I promise."

Raelynn whimpered childishly as she reluctantly let go of the grip she had on the man. She pulled the covers tighter around her as he slipped out of the bed, an overwhelming sense of defeat pouring over her—even though he had promised to come back. Raelynn had gotten one of the best nights sleep she had in a while, and she really wasn’t ready to get up yet.

She rolled over, blinking her eyes at the alarm clock that was on the bedside table. “It’s only fucking five-thirty,” she mumbled quietly to herself. Sam seemed to still be asleep, so hopefully they could sleep for a few more hours—or at least she hoped.

Still half asleep as he shuffled back to the bed, Dean climbed back under the covers and reached to wrap his arms around Raelynn's waist to pull her close to him. "For once you're being quiet. Imagine if you were like this all the time," Dean more grumbled to himself than to her, a small smirk settling on his features as he let out a laugh.

Dean shifted around a bit until he had rolled onto his back, pulling Rae to his side to keep her close. He was sure she'd already fallen back asleep, or so he hoped but he thought he could still enjoy them cuddling for just a little while longer. Right?

When Raelynn woke up again she was fighting her body from falling into the slope of the bed that was caused by Dean sitting on the edge of it. When she finally opened her eyes, she peered at him through her lashes. Finally, she came to and heard him and Sam talking.

She sat up and wiped at her eyes, glaring at the both of them. Sam grinned at her, “Good morning sunshine,”

“No, shut up, Sam.” She croaked out, her voice still groggy with sleep. She looked at the alarm clock. She had only slept another forty-five minutes?!

“Calm down, Rae.” Sam laughed. “We don’t have much going on today. No fear, you can be as lazy as you want.”

Raelynn eyed Dean, he was still facing away from her. What she wouldn’t give to reach out and pull him back down onto the bed with her.

Dean had half been considering asking his brother for advise in relation to Raelynn but he thought against it thankfully because just as he opened his mouth to speak, Sam was leaning to look at her. He exhaled a breath of relief, dropping his head down as he did so. The amount of relief he seemingly felt wasn't something he could exactly explain. Especially with the cause of his problems sitting just behind him.

With a groan, Dean lifted his legs and pushed himself further up the bed so that he could lean against the headboard. "We should order pizza once a shop opens up. We've all been working hard so I think that we deserve to take a relaxing day. There's a pool on the other side of the hotel so we could always go swimming," he said, a small grin appearing on his features as he looked from Sam to Rae and back

"That's a good idea, isn't it?"

Raelynn rolled her eyes at Dean. Always thinking about food—especially considering a pizza at seven in the morning. Her, on the other hand, she could go for a cup of coffee.

“Swimming sounds nice,” she said as she lifted her arms above her head to stretched. Her shirt rose a little, so she tugged it back down and grumbled. “I volunteer Sam to go on a coffee run. Yeah?”

“Rae,” Sam said, raising an eyebrow at her. But the blonde persisted, throwing him a pouty face. Sam mumbled to himself, “Fine. But you are getting lobby coffee. I’m not going to run all over town to find you the perfect cup, Miss Priss.”

Raelynn threw him a bright smile as he exited the room. She slipped out of the bed and made her way over to her bag, digging through it to find a pair of sweats. She tugged them on and then made her way back over to the bed, sitting at the end of it. She shyly looked at Dean, “You sleep well?”

Dean's face had even turned hopeful when Raelynn began begging for coffee and soon enough she had won the argument because Sam was leaving the room. He grinned to himself, setting a hand behind his head and the other on his stomach as his gaze drifted to Rae.

He shrugged at the question, shifting around a bit as his gaze dropped to the ground at her feet. Anywhere but at Raelynn at this point. "It was a bit rocky if I'm honest," he answered finally, pushing himself up to a sitting position. Rae didn't need to know why. He smiled a bit haphazardly as he looked back up to her.

"How'd you sleep? You didn't want to let me up when I needed to go pee earlier so if you ask me, you must have slept pretty damn well," he teased as he cocked an eyebrow.

Raelynn look down at her hand sheepishly, wringing her fingers like she always did when she got nervous. “I was comfortable,” she admitted. I’m always comfortable when I’m with you, she added silently to herself. “I haven’t slept well in a while… I dunno, I was tired I guess.”

Raelynn’s eyes flicked up towards his green ones. She immediately looked away. Why was everything so fucking awkward? She ran a hand through her hair, deciding to throw it back up in a pile on top of her head. She sighed, breaking the silence finally. “You said there was a pool? What about a hot tub? That would be nice.” Raelynn could get behind the idea of settling into a hot tub with a beer. If not, she’d just hog the bathroom and use the tub in there.

When they were alone, without anyone else around, Dean felt as close to Raelynn as he would allow. He wanted nothing more than to reach across and offer her comfort but that wasn't his place and he had never really been very good with dealing with emotions. Girls or his own, it didn't really matter.

"No clue," Dean answered, pushing to his feet. He looked over to her with a small smirk as he tilted his head to the side, "let's go check it out while Sam's getting coffee?"

“Alright,” Raelynn mumbled as she slipped off the bed. She quickly pulled on her shoes, waiting for Dean by the door. As they walked through the hotel, inches between them, she decided to take a chance. She looped her arm through his, feeling his bicep tense and relax all at once. She smirked at him when he looked down at her, his eyes questioning what she was doing. She shrugged him off, deciding that if he could hold her while he was unconscious, he could deal with this.

Raelynn let him go as they stepped outside towards the pool, her eyes widening and shining bright when they laid upon the hot tub. She looked up at him, smiling like a kid. “Dean!”

Dean's body tensed the moment that Raelynn's arm slipped through his but he didn't pull away. He figured that it would cause more problems than it was really worth, with how the way she knew just how to get under his skin.

It was only a few moments before they happened upon the pool and he would have liked to say he was sorry for what he was about to do but he really wasn't. Not in the least bit. With a smirk as Raelynn looked up to him, he raised an eyebrow before stepping and giving her a shove into the pool. He leapt away from it, tossing his head back as he began to all but cackle. "Oh, boy. Now that was a good one!"

Raelynn resurfaced, gasping for air. Her nose stung from the influx of water it had just experienced. She wiped at her eyes as she made her way to the shallow end of the pool in order to get out. Her eyes narrowed at Dean, “You’re a dick, you know that right?”

Rae huffed as she got out of the cold water, sloshing her way back towards the entrance of the hotel. She ignored Dean, although he was hot on her heels talking about how funny it was and that it was just a joke. Once they got back to the room, Sam had been back with the coffee. But when she broke through the threshold and Sam saw her, his eyes widened. She made her way to the bathroom, shutting the door behind her with a click.

Dean's shoulders sagged a bit as he followed after Rae. He couldn't understand for the life of him what was wrong because it was just a joke. It wasn't that big of a deal to him, he was sure he would have laughed if the roles had been reversed. Sure, he may have been a little irritated but it really wasn't that big of a deal.

Stepping over to the table where the coffee rested, Dean's jaw tensed as he glanced toward Sam. "Look, it was a joke. If she's going to take it that damn personally, then I can't really help her."

"Dean," Sam hissed at his brother. "Give her a break, dude. You know how she is."

Meanwhile, Raelynn was getting changed in the bathroom. She cursed under her breath when she noticed she didn't bring her bag or her clothes in. She grabbed a towel down from the rack and wrapped it around her frame. She meandered out into the room and grabbed her bag, rolling her eyes at Sam as he threw her a face.

"Oh grow up," she laughed as she made her way back to the bedroom.
