Finding Unexpected Love

Gabby smiled a little as she moved a little closer to him and hugged him. "Thank you Christian." She said as she hugged him before gently kissing his cheek. She then brought her attention back to the food. She wasn't sure why but she felt an odd connection between the two of them, but she didn't want to read too much into it. She figured it was just because she was a little vulnerable and was just in an emotional state at the moment.

Christian nodded hugging her back gently. It felt odd to him almost foreign, the sensation of the touch of another person, but he kind of liked it. He let her do her own thing, simply watching her work, keeping an ear out for the door. "Do you mind if I head out and bring my change of clothes inside" he asked her lightly. He figured he should get his things inside before anyone else arrived, so it wouldn't be so obvious he was staying here, incase she wasn't comfortable with everyone knowing that.

(Sorry not replying sooner, been a little busy.)

Gabby shook her head as she pulled back from hugging him. "No, not at all." She smiled as she finished up the food. "Dinner is almost done, so by the time you come back down it'll be time to eat. "She smiled as she went to set the little table in the kitchen for the two of them. "Feel free to pick any of the rooms upstairs." She said softly as she poured the noodles into a bowl. Then pulled other other dishes during the same thing with the other foods. She placed each of them on the table, waiting for Christian to return.

Christian nodded, and headed outside. He walked to his truck, which he'd parked on the street, and pulled out a small rucksack that had his change of clothes in it. He was glad she seemed okay for now. Christian left his bag in one of the rooms, it had a double bed, and a small table in one corner. It was also the room closest to hers.

Christian came back downstairs and smiled seeing her waiting for him, "it smells delicious," he said softly. He waited for her to sit before sitting down himself. He felt slightly out of place, it had been years since he'd had a home cooked meal, and even eaten at a table. At home he usually had microwave meals, or just ate straight off the grill.

When Christian came back into the room, Gabby looked up to him and smiling brightly. She put the last thing on the table then stood up, nodding to him. "You got all settled in, I trust." She spoke as she walked to the fridge, pulling out the pitcher of sweet tea.

Placing the pitcher on the table, Gabby looked up to Christian. Looking to him, She sat down at the table, motioning for him to sit down as well.

Christian took a seat, trying to relax. He figured she wouldn't mind too much that his table manners were rusty. He smiled at her, "Yeah I got all settled, the room is lovely," he said softly. He poured himself a drink and took a sip. "You seem to be handling things pretty well, have you heard what's happening with the house and stuff yet?" he asked her softly.

He knew that veteran housing was sometimes a mess, and not massively reliable at times. He was just concerned that she wouldn't be prepared if they decided to give the house to another veteran now that her father had passed.

(Thanks for your patience, I have been a little busy this week and didn't get the chance to reply.)

Gabby looked at him when he asked about the house and such, she sighed softly. That was the one thing that she was waiting t hear about, and it was truly killing her that she didn't hear anything yet. "No." She said softly. "But I am going to try and look for a place, just in case...." She said. "I just don't know if I want to live alone." She spoke with much honesty as she poured herself a drink.

Moving over to the table, Gabby sat down, looking to Christian once more. "But I am not too worried...yet." She spoke and then sat down.

Christian nodded lightly, "well I'm sure it'll all be sorted by the lawyer, he asked to see me tomorrow," he informed her. He thought it odd, that the lawyer was so insistent on him sticking around. He sat back and waited for her to dish up her own dinner, he wasn't sure what the protocol was, so he would just wait to follow her lead.

He smiled at her, he had already developed a sense that he needed to protect her, make sure she was alright, it was a mixture of duty to her father, and something else.

Gabby just nodded, not really wanting to think about everything that could potentially happen. Quickly dishing up a plate of food filled with chicken, homemade noddles, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a dinner roll, she looked to Christian, handing him the plate. "Here you go," she said with a wink. She went back to dishing out another plate of food for herself, before finally heading over to the table. As she sat down at the table, Gabby took a minute to just relax.

Christian grinned taking the plate of food. "This looks delicious Gabby, thank you," he said softly. He placed it on the table and sat back. He took a sip of his beer, his mind was on the good times from back in the war, despite all the heavy uncomfortable stuff they'd had to do, there was good times. He chuckled softly, "he's always loved you Gabby," he said softly

((I have not forgot about our RP, I've just been really swamped with work. Currently I have projects, remodeling projects, going on at may job as well as some serious upcoming ones; which meant that I haven't really been in the mindset of roleplaying. However, I am looking to reply to this thread within the next couple of days. Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for being M.I.A.))

(It's perfectly fine, I completely understand that life gets hectic, thank you for letting me know what's going on. With all the craziness going on around the world recently it's good to know that you are okay :) }

Gabby looked to Christian and just smiled, nodding a little. "Of course. There's no reason to thank me though. We had to eat, so this was no trouble at all." She grinned as she took a sip of her sweet tea. She blinked her tears away as he spoke about her father loving her. "I know." She whispered, wiping away the tears. "I will never forget that about my father." She spoke softly before taking a bite of her food.

Christian was struggling himself to keep his mind on the happy memories of her father, now was a time to celebrate the man not to mention all the less appetizing things that had been expected of them. He sat back and continued to eat the delicious meal she had prepared.

He heard the doorbell ring, and looked up at Gabby, "would you like me to get the door?" he asked lightly. He knew she didn't want to be bothered all night by 'well-wishers' and was more than happy to send some away for her. He took a sip of his beer awaiting her response.

Gabby nodded to him when she heard the doorbell. She really didn't want to deal with people at the moment. She just wanted to enjoy the home cooked meal. "If you don't mind, that would be good." She said as she continued to eat her food.

When Christian got up to go see who was at the door, Gabby closed her eyes, refraining herself from crying. She was really missing her father, but she knew she had to continue to be strong.

Christian slowly made his way to the door. He opened it to, seeing two strangers he didn't recognise, he assumed they were friends of Gabby's or her father. He smiled softly, "evening thank you for coming but Gabriella is busy at the moment," he informed them.

They nodded and smiled weakly, "would you give her our best, we'll come around tomorrow sometime to check on her," the told him before turning to leave.

Christian came back into the kitchen after they'd gone, "I sent them away for tonight, they said they'd come back tomorrow," he told her softly.
