Sarah began screaming that Hailey broke her nose and Maddie couldn’t hold back her laughter but stopped once their coach showed up.

“What is going on here?” She asked the girls.

“Sarah was bullying us and Hailey knocked her out .” Maddie shrugged.

“That’s it, you’re suspended from the team until further notice, Hailey.” The coach said.

“But Ms. Meyers that isn’t fair! Sarah has been harassing us since school started! Hailey got tired of it!” Maddie said.

“Would you like to join her, Madelyn?” Ms. Meyers said.

Maddie sighed and looked at Hailey.

“Shit. That’s gonna hurt tomorrow.” Jorel said. He frowned whenever the girls walked off. “Oh no, this can’t be good.” He said as he and George got up and went to see the girls.

“What happened?” He asked Hailey who looked upset.

Hailey shook her head, “Dont worry, I won’t be coming back as long as she’s still here. I’ll be dropping my uniform off.”

She looked at Maddie as they walked, “You didn’t have to come with me. I’m so fed up with her I can’t even be around her.”

Hearing Jorel, she stopped, “Sarah kept running her mouth and I hit her, I got suspended and decided I don’t want to be on the squad anymore.”

George quickly followed Jorel and looked at Maddie, “Are you Alright?” He asked, knowing if Hailey got in trouble it couldn’t be good.

Jorel frowned. “I’m sorry.” He told her. Even though he knew it wasn’t his fault, he still felt like it was.

“Yeah. I’m going to quit too. I can’t stand those girls and if Hailey’s not going to be on the squad anymore, neither am I.” Maddie said.

“It’s not your fault, I’ve been fighting with her for awhile, This was coming,” Hailey told him. She didn’t want to make him feel bad for her leaving the squad.

George looked at her, “Are you sure?” He was starting to feel guilty that they were leaving the squad.

“Yeah it’s fine, means we can spend more time with you guys.” Maddie said with a smile.

“Okay, if you say so.” Jorel said. “Want to skip and go out for lunch?” He asked her:

Hailey smiled at Jorel’s idea, “That sounds great actually, let’s go.”

George looked at Maddie, “We could get out of here and go do something, just the two of us.” He wanted to have some fun with her and take her mind off the drama with the squad.

“Awesome, lets go. Catch you guys later.” Jorel told George and Maddie before leading Hailey out to the parking lot.

Maddie smiled. “Sounds good. What do you want to do?” She asked him.

Hailey waved to Maddie as she followed Jorel, going to the parking lot. “What did you have in mind for food?” She asked him.

George walked with her, “Well, what sounds fun to you?” He asked as they walked, “There’s a lot of shit to do for fun away from this hell hole.”

“Chinese?” Jorel asked her as he walked to his car and unlocked it. He opened her door for her before going around to the driver’s side.

“I’m not sure. We could go to the beach?” Maddie suggested. That was the only thing she could think of.

Hailey got in and shut the door, “Chinese sounds great.” She told him as he got in.

“The beach it is then,” George said as he walked with her to the car.

Jorel smiled and started driving to the Chinese buffet. “Wanna just skip the rest of the day? We can stuff our faces with Chinese and then go back to my place and cuddle.”

Maddie smiled and looked out the window as George drove. She reached over and took his hand, holding onto it.

“That sounds so much better than being at school,” Hailey smiled slightly. She felt better to be with Jorel.

George smiled feeling her take his hand, he gave hers a little squeeze as he drove. Once they reached the beach, he parked the car and got out, going over and opening her door.

Jorel smiled and once they got to the Chinese place, he parked before getting out and going to open Hailey’s door and taking her hand.

Maddie smiled, “thank you.” She said and walked with him down to the beach. She was glad it wasn’t busy. She held his hand as they walked down to the shoreline.

Hailey held his hand as they walked in and sat down, “I think this is just the thing to make today better, spending the rest of the day with you.” She smiled over at him.

George looked over at her as they walked, “Are you gonna be alright?” He asked.

Jorel smiled. “Good, I’m glad.” He said and once they told the waitress what they wanted to drink, Jorel took her hand again as they went to the buffet.

“This is going to sound cheesy but, as long as I’m with you, I’m going to be okay.” Maddie smiled as she hugged him. She felt safe with George.

Once they reached the buffet, Hailey let go of his hand before getting a plate and putting her food on it. She stayed close to Jorel though, there was just something about being close to him that made her feel better.

George hugged her back, “Same here.” He smiled slightly, kissing the side of her head. He laughed softly as he looked at her, “Cheesy is good sometimes though, right?”

Once Jorel had his plate full, he walked back to the booth with her and sat down. “I never thought last week I’d be sitting here with one of the prettiest girls in school.”

Maddie smiled, “Yeah, true.” She said as she looked up at him. She leaned up and kissed his lips softly.

Hailey smiled as she sat across from him, “I never thought I’d be sitting here with you.” She took a bite of her food, “But I couldn’t be more happy to be here with you.”

George was slightly surprised, but he kissed back. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close.

“So am I.” Jorel smiled. He ate his food as he watched her. She really was the girl of his dreams.

“Sorry, I couldn’t resist.” Maddie said as she pulled back and licked her lips. “You’re a good kisser.” She giggled.

Hailey smiled softly as she ate her food, for the first time in for what felt like forever she was relaxing. There was something about Jorel that comforted her, it was becoming obvious that he was her safe place.

“It’s fine, you’re pretty great yourself,” George told her, smiling down at her. He knew she was the girl that he’d always wanted, but never thought he’d ever have a chance with.
