My Demons. [closed]

Mitch sighed deeply, "not anymore," he admitted. The truth was most of their friends had been Kathy's, it was hard to keep relationships with friends when you serve, everybody wants to thank you for your sacrifice or your service. But they never really understand you, and your approach to issues and problems. After Kathy passed, Mitch had thrown himself back into the service so the few friends he marginally tolerated moved on. He shrugged, "I have my friends in the military, though, at least most of them would take a bullet for me," he added.

Abby smiled, "Well, at least you have friends." She said. She was glad he had people to talk to. Abby leaned back against her chair, "Is there anything else you would like to talk about?" She asked him. She leaned forward some, "We can talk about anything." She said. She hated to constantly ask him questions. She didnt want to scare him off.

Mitch shifted in his seat. He thought for a few moments, "what about you? what's your relationship history like?" he asked her. He was genuinely interested in knowing more about her, he could already sense inappropriate and ethically complex feelings were beginning to form, at least on his part. He would have to be careful how personal he let this relationship get.

Abby was surprised when he asked about her relationships. "Well i dated this guy for about five years. It wasn't a very good five years. He was kind of an asshole and didn't treat me well. I kind of ignored everyone for awhile. I finally realized how bad it was and ended it. I haven't really bother trying to be with anyone else since." She said shrugging. "My work keeps me pretty busy." She said, laughing softly.

Mitch nodded softly, "Well I'm glad you left him," he said quickly without really thinking. The tiniest amount of blush visible around his the edges of his beard. He sat back not sure what to say anymore, and not wanting to say the wrong thing.

Abby nodded, "Me and you both." She said, laughing softly. She watched him as he got quiet again. "Are you okay?" She asked. Abby relaxed in her chair, comfortable in the silence. "What are your plans for tomorrow?" She asked him. She got up, going to get herself a water, "Would you like one?" She asked, offering him a bottle of water.

Mitch shrugged his shoulders, "no idea, at this stage I'll be around here," he said lightly. He relaxed back into his seat glad she hadn't read into his comment too much. He smiled softly at her, "no thanks I'm okay," he said politely. He crossed his legs in his seat getting comfortable.

Abby sat down with her bottle of water, taking a sip of her water. "At least you will be able to relax." She said. She watched him, "Did you have anything else you want to talk about?" She asked. "If not I gueas I can set you free." She said, laughing softly. "Unless you want to hang out with me. I must warn you though, I am not very interesting." She told him, smiling a little.

Mitch shrugged his shoulders again, "Meh I don't have any plans," he said truthfully. He sat back, looking about her office again, "Can you leave your office? or are you supposed to stick around?" he asked her lightly. He was wondering whether she'd be interested in killing some time with him, playing some poker or something.

Abby nodded, "Yea I can leave my office. Why? What did you have in mind?" She asked. She got up when he told her what he wanted to do, "Lead the way." She said. She walkes out with him, walking by his side. A part of her was really starting to like Mitch. He seemed pretty nice and he wasn't as mean as people had told her.

Mitch walked with her to the lounge area of his team, where a couple other members of his team were chatting. He introduced them, "This is Rob he's my invisible man, and this Lily she's usually on overwatch," he said. "This is Abby, you guys have probably seen her around,' he said. He walked over and pulled a pack of playing cards out from a trunk then headed over to the table and pulled up a chair.

Abby smiled at his friends, "It's nice to meet you." She said to them. She sat with Mitch at the table, crossing her legs as she watched him deal out the cards. She could tell that his body language changed when he was around his team. She wondered why that was. Abby ran her fingers through her hair, "What are we playing?" She asked him softly.

Mitch smiled lightly and invited his friends to join the game, they agreed. He dealt out the cards quickly, "How's Texas hold'em sound?" he asked lightly. He was putting on a facade that everything was fine, and the he was as dependable as always, it what he had to do around his team.

Abby looked at him, "Sounds good to me." She said. Abby watched as he spoke to his friends, realizing the fake attitude he put on for them. She didn't like that he did that and it worried him..She played cards with them for awhile and when they finished she looked at Mitch. "I need to get going I have some work to finish up." She said, standing with him.

Mitch followed her out of the hanger, "thanks for joining me for cards," he said lightly. His mind was fairly relaxed and organised for now. He stepped forward and placed his hand on her arm, "I'll come see you tomorrow?" he asked lightly.

Abby smiled at him, "Of course." She said. "Goodnight Mitch. Get some sleep." She said, before she left him and went to her bed. She sighed as she got ready for bed. She worked on a few papers then laid down, closing her eyes. She fell asleep , holding onto her pillow as she tried to get comfortable.

Mitch headed to his own room, thankfully his team had separate sleeping quarters. He stripped down to only his boxers, and climbed onto the bed. He was exhausted having not slept last night, so he quickly fell into a sleep.
Mitch awoke in the middle of the night from a horrible nightmare, the nature of the nightmare worried him. He pulled on his clothes and grabbed his weapon, he headed out to find Abby's room. He knocked on the door softly when he found it.

Abby woke up to the sound of someone knocking on her door. She looked at the time, seeing it was late. She walked to the door, opening slight, seeing Mitch. "What's wrong?" She asked, stepping back to let him in. Once he was in, she shut the door. He looked worried about something. "Sit down." She said before walking over and sitting in the chair near him. She was surprised he actually came to her this late.

Mitch smiled seeing her, he took a seat in the room. "I couldn't sleep," he said softly. He wasn't sure how to bring up his nightmare with her. When she sat next to him, he bit the bullet so to speak. He explained to her his nightmare, and why it was concerning him.

Abby looked at him, "What do you think it met?" She asked him. She could tell that he was upset. "Most of the times our dreams come to us to make us realize something about ourselves, or if something is bother us." She said. "Is there something bothering you Mitch?" She asked.
