My Demons. [closed]

Mitch shrugged, he hadn't really thought about it. He sat back, "I don't know, maybe it's was trying to tell me I'm beginning to like it too much," he admitted softly. He pulled his knees to his chest.

Abby looked at him, "Beginning to like what to much Mitch?" She asked. She had a feeling she knew what he was talking about. She was hoping that he would be okay, but she was worried about him. Abby bit her bottom lip lightly as she listened to him talk.

Mitch sighed softly, "the killing, the blood, inflicting pain most of all," he said quietly. He looked at her afraid what she might think of him knowing he was liking it. He was worried that because he had no one to give him that balance, he might never stop, even if he went home.

Abby looked at him, "Mitch, I dont think that is true. Do you feel like that is true?" She asked. Abby was worried about him going back out if it was effecting him that way. "Perhaps a break would be good for you." She explained.

Mitch shrugged his shoulders a little bit, "I don't know, everything is sort of a blur at the moment," he admitted. It had been awhile since he'd gotten a decent amount of sleep. It was a combination of nightmares, and sleeping alone, he missed the feel of a body next to him.

He looked at her lightly, "I can't take a break, if I'm not around I can't save them," he said

Abby shook her head, "Mitch, you can't just expect to save everyone. There are other people." She explained. "Even if you took a quick break you could come back. Perhaps it would help not only your mental health, but your physical healthy. The lack of sleep alone is enough to cause human error." She said. Abby watched him, "Do you sleep at all?" She asked.

Mitch looked at her, not agreeing with her comments about taking a break one bit. He closed his eyes and put his head back, "no I haven't slept soundly for a while," he admitted. "It's hard to get used to the empty bed, and not having Kathy to talk to before it," he added.

Abby stared at him, thinking. "Well would you like to sleep in my bed with me?" She asked. Abby watched a she looked at her, "Maybe you can sleep that way. It's worth a shot." She said. "You have to sleep on top of the covers though." She said, laughing softly. She didn't want someone to catch them and get the wrong idea.

Mitch looked at her quizzically, and thought for a moment. "You'd be okay with that?" he asked softly. He let his legs down, relaxing slightly. After she reassuringly nodded, he smiled and went to stand up. "That's fair, Abby, thank you," he said softly.

Abby nodded, "Yea i am okay with it." She said. She got up with him, then walked over to her bed, climbing into it. She waited til he was in bed with her, handing him a blanket. She turned her lights off, then got comfortable. "You alright?" She asked.

Mitch lay down with her relaxing onto the bed. "I'm good, thank you," he said softly. He closed his eyes and cuddled up with the blanket, "Night Abby,' he whispered. He easily drifted into sleep

Abby closed her eyes, falling asleep. She slept quietly until the next morning. Abby woke up, looking up at the ceiling. She was glad to see that Mitch was still sleeping. She sat up in the bed, checking her phone.

Mitch had managed to sleep through the rest of the night. He was still snoozing away next to her as she moved about in the bed.
He mumbled softly as he felt her move, "don't go, not yet."

Abby looked at him, smiling when she seen he still had his eyes closed. "Alright, but you only get me for a little longer." She teased him. She laid down next to him, feeling his body against hers. She was surprised he was so comfortable. She was glad she was able to help him. Abby closed her eyes, relaxing. She didn't want to go back to sleep, but she was fine with staying in bed a little longer.

Mitch nodded softly, "Okay," he whispered. He put his arm over her shoulder lightly, it felt good. It was like he was back at home with his wife, even if it was only for a little while. After another five minutes of lying there with her, he rolled off the bed and got up. "Thanks Abby, I haven't slept that well in a long time," he said softly.

Abby got up with him and nodded, "No problem." She said. "I hope you feel better." She told him. She made her bed, then got her clothes out, "I will talk to you later." She said. She watched as he left, then got dressed then went to talk to one of her patients. She had a feeling she would be sending him home soon. He was a younger guy who was slowly losing his mind from being in the war. Abby sat outside after she finished talking with him and wrote down a few things.

Mitch smiled softly and left. He made his way back to his teams hanger and showered before dressing in his on base uniform. It was made of lighter material, and had far less armour padding. However was much cooler to wear. He found a spot and sat down cleaning his rifle once again. He had put his team on alert, ready to head out if they needed to, but so far they had the day off.

Mitch smiled seeing Abby across the base sitting down and writing away in a notebook. He was glad she understood him, and wanted to help. He just hoped she wouldn't send him home.

Abby ran her fingers through her hair as she finished writing down what she needed. She pulled out one of the papers, filling out a form to send the guy she had talked to earlier home. She knew he would have to get further counseling once her got home. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she wrote down all his information. Abby wasn't hoping that he wouldn't be too upset with her about having to go home. Abby glance ahead of her seeing Mitch looking at her. She gave him a small smile before she went back to filling out the form.

Mitch silently went back to cleaning his gun. He didn't really have much else to do, and besides the process relaxed him. After he finished reassembling his gun, he put it over his shoulder and walked over towards Abby. "Morning Doc,' he said as he approached.

Abby looked at him, "Good morning sunshine." She said, smiling. "How are you today?" She asked him. She closed her folder so that her patients information wouldn't be seen. HE seemed a little happier today. She was sure it was just because he was well rested.
