Mitch stared at her, "Why can't you just look after me?" he asked her softly. He had developed some trust with her, and knew it would be hard to do so with a new person.
Abby looked at him, "If I were to continue to be your therapist you wouldnt be able to stay with me and we wouldn't be able to have the relationship we do now." She explained.
Abby nodded, "Yea I can if you want." She said. "Dr. Kerns is nice you will like her." She said. She looked over as the nurse came in and handed him his morning medicine. "Those shouldn't make you feel tired or anything." Abby told him.
Abby stood up when he mentioned going back, "Let's see how this goes before I answer that." She said as she walked over and sat with him on the bed. She took his hand, lacing her fingers with his.
Mitch laced his fingers with hers and sat silently. He knew that he had to go back over there, keep fighting, he couldn't sit it out, let others risk their lives.
Abby looked at him, "What's wrong?" She asked as she ran her fingers over the back of his hand. She knew that he would have to get use to this. She could tell he felt out of place. "Are you ready to get out of here?" She asked. He was cleared to go now that he had his new medicine.
Abby nodded, "Yea we can." She said. She got up and walked out with him once he signed his release form. She walked with him to the car, then got in. She headed back to her house, thinking about what he said. She didn't like the idea of him going back. She parked out from of her house then got out and walked inside. She looked at Mitch, "Are you hungry?" She asked.
Mitch rode in silence, thinking quietly to himself. He walked into the house behind her. He took a seat inside, shuffling quietly, obviously he was deep in thought. "A little hungry," he admitted
Abby nodded and started to make something to eat for him She handed him the plate of food and a drink. "Are you okay?" She asked him. She sat beside him and smiled.
Abby looked at him, "Why do you want to go back there?" She asked. After having her life threatened she really didn't see the appeal of going back. She would never understand.
Mitch looked at her, 'I need to protect them everyone over there needs me,' he said. He had a serious delusion that without him to protect them, every soldier was at greater risk
Abby turned towards him, "Mitch, they have the same training as you. They are fine without you." She told him. Abby could tell he really believed what he said.
