“So let him go, you got me. She’s my daughter anyways and I’ll always be here for her and for you.” Jorel said as he looked at Emery and then back at Sophia

Sophia looked at him, handing him his food, “I have to think about things Jay. A week ago I didn’t even know if you’d want back in all of this.” She sat down at the table and started eating with Emery.

“All you had to do was tell me, Soph. I only found out because of Marisa.” Jorel said as he sat down and started eating.

Thinking for a moment, Sophia looked at him, “You want me back and for us to all be a family?” She asked. Sophia took a sip of her drink, “Prove to me that you want it, I believe that you’ve changed but I have to see it all for myself.”

She was hesitant to say it, but it was worth the risk, “If you can show that you want to be there for us, I’ll call off my engagement...”

“Yeah?” Jorel asked, looking at her. “Okay, when is the wedding? Just so I know how long I have.” He said as he watched her. He was going to try everything in his power to get her back.

“About seven months from today,” Sophia told him. “I doubt it’ll take you that long to prove it though,” she said honestly, she knew how Jorel was when he got something in his mind.

“It won’t, i was just curious.” Jorel said. He finished his food and put the plate in the sink. He sat back down as he sipped his water.

Sophia finished her food and took care of her plate, “I almost forgot to ask, but if you’re not busy on Monday, Emery has a dance recital. It’s only her first year of real dance, but she caught on pretty well...” She said as she sat back down and watched Emery finish her food.

Jorel smiled, “I’ll be there. Just let me know the time and place.” He said. He really was going to do everything he could to win Sophia and Emery back.

“Good, we’ll see you there. I’ll text you the address and the time,” Sophia told him, smiling slightly as she took Emery’s plate once she was done.

Emery got off her chair and went over to Jorel, “Daddy? Will you stay and watch a movie with me?” She wanted him to stay until it was time for her to go to bed.

Jorel smiled, “of course. Go pick out a movie, daddy will be in there in a few minutes.” He told her, watching her go into the living room. He looked over at Sophia. “Mind if I crash here tonight?” He asked her.

Emery smiled widely before taking off to find a movie.

“That’s fine, it’s just Emery and me that live here so make yourself comfortable. You’re welcome here any time,” Sophia told him as she got up to wash the dishes.

Jorel smiled and leaned over to kiss her cheek. “Thank you.” He said, brushing his hand against her lower back. “We’ll be in the living room watching a movie.” He said before disappearing into the living room.

Sophia watched as he walked into the living room and once he was out of sight, she let out a soft sigh. She almost couldn’t believe the hold that he still had on her, and that the slightest touch from him could send chills through her. Turning her back to the living room she finished washing the dishes, dried them, and put them away before walking into the living room, “What are we watching?”

Emery smiled, “Princesses!”

Sophia laughed softly, shaking her head as she sat down on the couch next to them.

Jorel casually threw his arm over Sophia's shoulder as they sat there watching the movie. Pretty soon Emery had fallen asleep in Jorel’s lap. “I hope you weren’t planning on giving her a bath or anything.” He chuckled as he lifted her up and held her. “Where’s her room? I’ll put her to bed.”

“Up the stairs, first door on the left.” Sophia told him as she got up, “Nope, she had one this morning, but she’ll be getting another one tomorrow.” She walked into the kitchen and got herself a water.

Jorel smiled and carried Emery up to her room and put her in bed. He leaned down and kissed her forehead before tucking her in. He went back downstairs and found Sophia. “She’s all tucked in.”

Sophia smiled at him, “Thanks, I know she wanted you to stay around until she went to sleep, she just wasn’t going to ask.” She laughed softly as she took a drink of her water.

“No problem.” Jorel laughed and grabbed a beer. “May I?” H asked and smirked. “You still buy my favorite beer, you must really miss me.”
