Sophia smiled as they stopped at Jorel’s, once he got in, she started driving. “You ready to see mom again?” She laughed softly, glancing over at him.

It wasn’t too long before she pulled up to her mom’s house and got out, helping Emery out and walking up to the house with her and Jorel. She knocked on the door, smiling when her mom opened, “Hi ma.”

Emery grinned, “Nana, guess what? Daddy’s here!” She squealed.

Rose, Sophia’s mom, raised an eyebrow, “Really?” She looked past Sophia and her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Jorel, “Well it’s about time!”

Jorel smiled, giving Sophia's mom a hug. “Hi, yeah, it’s been a while.” He said. He walked inside with Sophia and Emery. He was surprised there were still pictures of him and Sophia in frames sitting on the fire place. They were from when they were in high school but that was still a nice gesture.

Sophia sighed when she remembered her mother still had their pictures, “Sorry, they’re nice for Emery to see...”

Rose looked at Jorel, “You look good. So, it’s about time you come around and make the three of you a real family.”

Sophia sighed, “Mama, I’m still engaged...”

“Trevor? He’s a sweet boy, but you and Emery need someone that cares more about you two than money..” Rose told her causing Sophia to look at Jorel apologetically.

“I figured as much, it’s fine.” Jorel told her and then looked at Rose whenever she mentioned that. “While I agree with you there, Rose, I’m still in the band so I would be on the road a lot...and I know Sophia is into the whole family togetherness thing..” he explained.

Rose looked at him, “But you’re in the band because you love it, not just the money, right? It would work, Sophia always wanted to travel and Emery is only in preschool so you’d have all summer to travel as a family.”

“Mama please stop it, Jorel is just here to get to know Em, don’t get ahead of yourself...” Sophia told her.

“Please, you two were meant for each other, it will happen,” Rose said softly.

“Right, I don’t make much money from the band but what I make now, it’s going to go towards Emery and helping Sophia out.” Jorel said.

He smiled whenever Rose said they were meant to be. “I was just telling her we were the longest couple ever.” He laughed.

Rose turned her attention to her daughter, “See? You’re smart, I shouldn’t have to explain to you the right choice.”

Sophia sighed, “Can we talk about something else?”

Her mother smiled, “Emery seems happy that you’re here, she had been bugging for one of us to let her meet you,” she said, looking back at Jorel.

Jorel smiled. “Yeah, I hate that it took so long for me to find out but I’m glad I did.” He said. Seeing his daughter run over and hug his leg. He bent down and picked her up, seeing her wrap her arms around his neck.

Emery smiled as she cuddled into Jorel’s chest.

Rose couldn’t help smiling as she watched her granddaughter with Jorel, “Its nice to see, she loves you so much...”

Sophia nodded as she watched the two interact, it was nice seeing Emery connect with Jorel.

Jorel smiled. “Yeah, I’m just glad I got here before she got too old.” He said.

He set Emery down when she started wiggling. “How’s Christina?” Jorel finally asked, regarding Sophia’s little sister. He hadn’t seen her yet.

Rose smiled, “I’m glad too, I wish Sophia had told you sooner, but I know she thought she was doing the right thing...” Hearing him mention Christina, she laughed softly, “Oh she’s great, she’s actually going to college to be an ultra sound tech. She’s on break right now, so she’s with friends for the day.”

Sophia sighed softly, “Christina never stays home for more than an hour unless she’s sleeping.” She laughed.

Jorel nodded, “that’s cool. I was just asking Sophia on the way over here if she remembered how in love with me, Christina was when she first met me.” Jorel laughed.

Rose laughed softly, “Of course, everyone remembers when she went through that phase.”

Sophia smiled, “She followed us around all the time...”

“Yep, always wanting to sit by me whenever we hung out.” Jorel laughed. “I’m surprised you didn’t tell her I was coming for a visit.” He teased Sophia.

Sophia laughed, “Nope, can’t have her around trying to flirt with you.” She smiled over at him.

Jorel laughed, “well, I’m single now, so if she did it wouldn’t be too bad.” He chuckled.

Sophia shot him a look, before she could say anything Rose chimed in, “Well you two are thinking about working things out, aren’t you?”

Sophia looked at her, “We have a lot to talk about, I can’t just abandon Trevor..”

Rose scoffed, “Sophia, it looks like the two of you talked already...” She raised an eyebrow, “You still can’t cover a hickey with makeup very well.” She couldn’t help laughing when Sophia’s eyes widened in surprise.

Jorel bit his lip as he tried not to laugh. HE looked over at Sophia, “girl, I told you to cover that thing up.” He laughed finally.

“I thought I did!” Sophia was so embarrassed as Rose looked at her. “You need a darker cover up, you have never been good at it. I always saw them before, but never said anything.”

“Mama it’s not like that...” Sophia tried to cover for herself. Rose shook her head, “I don’t need to know, you know what you want.”

Jorel chuckled. “Sorry, Rose, I cant control myself around her.” He said, seeing Sophia turn beet red.
