“Of course it worked. Pervy old men love teenage girls.” Vanessa said. She slid the beer in the back before fixing her shirt. “Can you guys stop staring? It’s weird.” She said as she took her hair down.

Jorel quickly looked away. He felt weird for looking at his best friend like that but at the same time, slightly turned on. He scooted back over so she could sit next to George as Danny pulled out of the parking lot.

George looked away, “Sorry...” he laughed softly as they made their way to the old club house. He couldn’t believe he was actually attracted to Vanessa, but it was an awkward feeling to say the least.

Once they got to the clubhouse, Jorel got out and grabbed the beer as Danny went to open the door, letting everyone in. The place still looked like it did the last time they were all there, about ten years ago.

Their old bean bag chairs were still there, comic books sprawled out on the floor, along with Vanessa’s old mystery books, stacked in a corner. A few other games from their childhood and some porno magazines that Dylan had stolen from his grandfather.

“Well, this place hasn’t changed at all.” Jorel smirked as he flopped down in his Superman bean bag chair.

Vanessa smiled, sitting down in her pink bean bag chair. There was a trunk in the corner of the room that housed all their costumes they used to dress up as when they were kids. Vanessa was always the princess or the damsel in distress and the guys would split up into two teams; three of them would be good guys and three of them bad guys, from pirates to knights to cowboys. She sighed as the memories rushed back.

George couldn’t help smiling slightly as he walked in and sat down in his old black chair, “I’m surprised everything is exactly as we left it,” he laughed softly.

There were so many things that happened there and he never would have guessed things would have stayed so much the same.

“No one else knows where this place is except us so it’s not to surprising.” Dylan said as he sat down in his TMNT chair.

Jordon started handing out beers before sitting down in his blue chair while Danny flopped down in his Spider-Man chair.

“Anyone else getting angry texts from their girlfriend?” Jordon asked as he opened his beer.

Vanessa opened her beer and took a drink. She had been back to the clubhouse more then the rest of them, especially this past summer. The guys were busy on their phones, probably texting their girlfriends back.

Vanessa got up and went over to the shelf on the wall. The reason she had been coming back to the clubhouse was because she was hiding her drug stash from her dad. She had some cocaine on her, it was one thing that helped her lose the baby weight, but she also had some weed. “Hey guys,” She said, pulling the metal lockbox that contained it down and opening it, “does anyone feel like getting high?” She asked.

“Where’d you get that?” Jorel asked, seeing the baggy of weed and smaller baggy of white powder. “Ever since the divorce my dad has gone into a spiraling depression and started buying a shit ton of drugs. I may or may not have taken some from him and stashed it here over the summer.” She shrugged.

George was surprised and a little worried to hear that Vanessa was taking her dads drugs and stashing them at the clubhouse. He wasn’t getting any angry texts from Amber either, even though it sounded like the other girls were trying to get their way.

He raised an eyebrow seeing how quiet Jorel was as he looked at his phone, “Dont even tell me Hazel is pissed off and texting you.” He knew she had no right to do that.

Seeing that she had weed, he nodded, “Let’s smoke it.” He felt like they all needed a break.

“Yeah, she’s pissed.” Jorel said. “Fuck it, I’m turning my phone off.” He said, turning his phone off and slipping it back in his pocket.

“Me too, I’ll argue with Hannah later. What’s the powder?” Dylan asked. “Coke.” Vanessa said, grabbing some rolling papers.

“Why do you have cocaine?” Jorel asked.

Vanessa looked at him, “it was either that or heroine.” She shrugged. “And needles scare me.” She added as she started rolling blunts for each of them.

“When did you start doing drugs?” Jordon asked. “When school let out and you guys abandoned me for your girlfriends.” Vanessa said, not looking at them as she got up to grab a lighter.

“Yeah, she’s pissed.” Jorel said. “Fuck it, I’m turning my phone off.” He said, turning his phone off and slipping it back in his pocket.

George looked around and could see the hint of guilt on all of their faces, he felt it too, “Damn Vanessa, that’s how you lost the weight...” He shook his head slightly, “We should’ve been here, hell, I should’ve I didn’t do shit this summer.”

Vanessa looked at them, smiling a little, “It’s fine, really.” She said. She sealed all the blunts before handing them to the guys. She lit her own before passing the lighter around.

Jorel lit his before passing the lighter to George. “This is some good shit, where’d your dad get it?” He asked her. “No idea. He doesn’t even know I have it.” Vanessa shrugged.

George nodded as he lit his and passed the lighter on. Taking a hit, he nodded in agreement with Jorel, “This is damn good.” He laughed softly before taking another hit.

“Damnnnnn. I need to figure out who your dad sees.” Dylan said. Jordon and Danny agreed. “This is some good shit.” Danny said, sipping his beer.

Vanessa smiled. “I’d pass the message along but like I said, he doesn’t know.” She said. “So what about the coke? You still do it?” Jorel asked. “I haven’t lately...last time was a few weeks before school started.”

George laughed as the guys talked about finding out where her dad got the weed. Hearing Jorel ask about the coke, he turned his attention to Vanessa, it worried him that his friend had done come and there was the possibility she’d keep doing it.

No one said anything for a moment. “Well, you’re going to stop right?” Danny finally asked. Vanessa was quiet now. “Yeah, I’ll stop.” She said. Jorel wasn’t sure if he believed her, in fact he didn’t think any of them believed her, but he wanted to change the subject.

He got up and went over to the trunk that had all their costumes in it. “What the fuck are you doing?” Dylan asked. “What does it look like I’m doing?” Jorel said, pulling out the pirate hats and swords they made out of cardboard.

Vanessa smiled as she watched him before getting up and joining him, grabbing the plastic play tiara that her mom had gotten her from the store when she was a child.

“We’re too old for games.” Danny said. “You’re never to old to play pirates.” Jorel said. “Or save a princess.” Vanessa smiled.

George laughed, shaking his head as he watched Jorel and Vanessa, “Leave it to you two to start this up again.” He watched as the others hesitantly agreed to play too before giving in, “Alright, I guess were playing,” he smiled.

“Duh.” Vanessa laughed as she smoked her blunt while she waited for the guys to put on their pirate hats.

“I can’t even remember who were the bad guys and who were the good guys the last time we played this.” Jordon said.

“You, Danny and Jorel were the bad guys and Dylan and George were the good guys.” Vanessa said.

“How did you remember that?” Dylan laughed. Vanessa shrugged. “We should totally switch fhis time.” Jorel laughed.

George shook his head, “Now why should we switch? You guys fit better as the bad guys anyway.” He laughed, smoking his blunt as he waited for the others.

“Fine.” Jordon groaned. Vanessa just giggled. “Just like old times...you guys constantly fighting over who gets to be the good guys and who gets to be the bad guys.” She shook her head while Jorel smirked.

George laughed, “Its pointless to argue, you guys just pull off the bad guys better, always have.”

“I don’t care who plays the bad guys or the good guys, I just need some saving.” Vanessa said, dramatically putting her hand against her forehead.
