Casey smiled gently, at least her brother wouldnt just be left to rot out in the open air. With her dad travelling for work so much, her and her brother were close, they had always gotten along better than most siblings.

"We didn't mean to amke you feel like such an outcast Jon... well I don't know, maybe some people did. I always kinda assumed you just had your own little group to go back to. I mean, not to be rude... but you were a little odd" she said softly, moving from shelf to shelf packing any form of liquid she could in to her bag.

After school she had continued to live at home, studying English literature at the local community college. Her grades would have just about gotten her in to a university, but having got caught up in the lifestyle of popularity she had let deadlines slide by and missed several application dates. a little part of her also had still not been ready to leave her brother.

Jonathan kept silent he didn't think he was that odd, he had always thought that if people got to know him they would treat him better. He sighed lightly, "come on we should keep moving," he said lightly. He made his way to the door and began watching the street.

He was glad to have someone to talk to again, it had been lonely ever since the power went out. He only hoped that she was being genuine and would stick around for a bit.

Casey looked down at the ground, she could tell she had said too much. She had always been very good at sticking her foot in it. she nodded and followed him out to the street. "So how do we kill them?" she asked him, her voice low. She needed to find a way to make things up with him, she literally owed him her life. If Jonathan hadn't been in that supermarket, there was no way she would have gotten out alive. she tried to think back to him in high school to decide of a way she could make a peace offering, but she literally did not know a thing about him. He liked guns and was somewhat antisocial- Those were the only worthwhile tidbits of information she had on him.

"I need to go somewhere I can get clothes or blankets or something, it's starting to get really cold at night" she commented staring around at the shell of a town she had left behind, it felt like a different planet, in a whole other universe.

Jonathan nodded lightly, "Aim for the head, seems to be the only thing that works," he explained to her. He paused for a second before exiting onto the street. He didn't know whether she was still behind him so he moved slowly.

"We could just get something from someone's house, or even your place," he suggested. He was already sorted with warmer clothing, he just wanted to find somewhere nicer to stay than the place he'd held up in.

She nodded in agreement, following him but staying a slight distance behind. The town seemed oddly silent, compared to the chaos of when she left- but that could have just been the feeling within the group at the time rather than the actual dynamic of the town.

"My place is no good... that's were started out, everything got used of or wrecked. We'll have to try somewhere else" she whispered. "Jonathan... do you see that? Over to the right, the blue house. Something is flickering"

Jonathan kept moving slowly, listening to her comments. He had seen the flickering and had moved into some cover to check it out. He hated being so exposed especially at this time of the day. He crouched behind a mailbox.

"Yeah I saw it, not sure what it is," he whispered back, he raised his rifle up trying to get a better view.

Casey continued to follow him, he seemed to know what he was doing, and that set her heart rate to a somewhat slower pace. "Can you see anything?" She whispered, taking her knife into her hand and keeping it by her side..

She felt a little safer. Around Jonathan, and enjoyed to company having been on her own for so long- but she didn't like the thought of staying in town for too long. Hopefully she would be able to convince him to come to the cabin.

Jonathan watched the corner where they'd noticed the movement through his scope, trying to work out what it was. He couldn't see a walker, and that meant it had to have been human. He knew sticking around town was super dangerous at the moment, and didn't want to head back to his hideout when he was being watched.

"We should keep moving, and get out of town as quick as we can, we can come back and bury your brother another day," he suggested. He rounded the next corner and slipped into the alleyway waiting for her to follow.

Casey watched him carefully, trying to read his face as he looked through the guns viewfinder. He looked worried, and she knew that the walkers didn't seem to worry Jonathan.

"Ahh yeah, I have somewhere we can go" she said, giving him a nod of her head as she followed. There was a sense of disappointment lying in the pit of her stomach leaving Kyle behind, but she kept trying to remind herself that she didn't even know where he was up until today. "I've been staying in my hncles cabin, it's not too far but it's a decent hike into the mountains. That okay with you?

Jonathan nodded listening to her, "yeah that sounds like a good idea," he said lightly. He kept checking over his shoulder for any movement other than her. He was clearly worried, he was hoping that whatever they'd seen would leave them alone.

He stopped down the alleyway a bit, "do you want me to carry your duffel?" he asked lightly, hoping that they'd move faster if he took it.

Casey just kept moving forward, if one of those walkers as Jon called them was behind her, she couldn't face looking at it. "Would you mond?... just for a bit, it's really heavy" she said holding the large back out to him. Iit's straps had left two red imprints on her shoulders.!

"Head out of town and take first trail, then follow the red markers off the path, not the green"

Jonathan grabbed the bag and tossed it over his shoulder. He kept his rifle ready just in case, and began walking for the edge of town. He slowed down so she was beside him, "you lead I'll watch our back," he suggested lightly.

He kept moving towards the woods, he was still unsure about trusting her, after how she'd treated him at school. However he knew figured sticking together for now was the best option.

She nodded and began walking ahead of him, very aware that his gun was practically pointed at her back and he now had all her food. Was it safe for her to bring him up here? Or was he just prolonging his plan to get back at her for how she had treated him in school.

Following the red markets that were placed high in trees so you would only notice them if you were looking, she began to lead him back to the cabin. "Do you know much about the virus? There's a freshwater stream close to the cabin but I've. Even afraid to use it because I don't know how people get infected" she asked him, turning her head to look back and make sure he was close by.

Jonathan followed her keeping his rifle pointed down away from her, he kept checking behind them intermittently. He sighed as they got deeper into the woods, he was worried about seeing threats coming up on them.

"I don't know that much, I've been trying to stick to only drinking bottled water," he admitted lightly. He had been trying to document what wounds the walkers he killed had, to try work out how they died, and what was spreading the virus.

She nodded, keeping silent for most of the journey, just thinking about everything she had seen in town and trying to rap her head around everything. Her brother was dead, her dad probably was too.

"It's just on the top of this hill, we have to climb a couple of boulders to get there. Want me to take the bag again?" She offered, holding out her arms to take it.

Jonathan was thankful for the company, even if she ditched him. He handed her back the bag, "sounds good," he said lightly. Following her up the hill he kept his eyes off her, and on the surroundings. He quietly thought to himself if she'd ever had a guy not constantly checking her out in her past.

"What sort of supplies did you have in the cabin?" he asked curious.

She climbed up the rocks, glancinng back every few steps to make sure he hadnt fallen behind. Each time she did, she noticed her eyeswere never on her, not even for direction. It felt strange but refreshing at the same time. For so much of her life Casey had felt like an object in a museum, to be stared at and admired- but nobody ever got close. she grunted slightly, pulling herself over a large rock which she sat on and waited for him to catch up.

"Ihave a small amount of food and water left, and whatever I managed to find today. Theres a acouple of my uncles hunting rifles but I don't know a lot about them." she told him, only now had the worry started to sink in that the two of them may not be able tosurvive on the rations for as long as she had on her own. "I have tried to eat very little, just enough to keep me going each day. I prioritise water". slowly she got to her feet again so that he could climb up. from up here the cabin was visible, only a few metres away.

Jonathan carefully made his way up the boulders, following the path she had taken up them. Once he made it to the top he sighed softly, "yeah hopefully you'll be okay for a while longer, it doesn't seem like anything is going to improve for awhile," he admitted lightly.

He turned around finally and looked at the cabin, it looked extremely well built and reasonably secure, it just didn't have a very big area around it cleared. He looked at her face, "This place looks pretty safe, a couple things I'd change but smart choice," he admitted
