"Thanks" Casey whispered, forcing a faint smile at him. She felt embarrased that her and her friends were all such fuck-ups that they hadnt even take a nationwide, governmental health warning seriously.

She could tell he didnt walk to talk anymore, and after that, Casey didnt really want to either. "Yeah that would be great thanks... Wake me in 2 hours and I'll take over, we can do it in shifts" she told him gently, giving his shoulder a soft sqeeze as she made her way over to the bed. She had hoped to pretend to be asleep for a while, just to ensure that he wasnt going to leave her starnded out here with nothing.She felt a small safety knowing that there was still a small amount of food in the locked cabinet and that the guns were beneath her. Once she lay down, it didn't take long for her to drift off.

Jonathan moved his seat to watch out the glass window on the front of the cabin and then sat back to stand guard. "Sounds like a good plan I might give a little more than two hours, we need some decent rest," he commented before she lay down.

As the time drew along, Jonathan kept his eyes on the exterior of the cabin. He glanced over at her sleeping form, this was the closest he'd ever been to a vulnerable woman.

As Casey slept, her dreams were vivid, more like nightmares really. She tossed and turned as she slept, mumbling little spurts of speech every now and again- She was anything but a sleeping beauty. AFter several hours, she awoke groggy and confused.

When she turned to sit up in in the she saw a figure sitting by the window. She pressed her back against the wall taking a asharp intake of breath, visibly startled. Ass her sleepy head began to think again she relaxed. "Sorry J.. I've just gotten so used to being on my own"

Jonathan turned to look at her when he heard he wake up. "It's fine, you feeling better?" he asked her lightly. He had managed to ignore her tossing and turning and mumbles, and figured he shouldn't bring it up.

He stood up from his seat, and moved towards the door, "I'll check around the clearing one more time before you take over," he said. He headed outside and check the immediate area for any sounds of threat. He made his way back into the cabin, tired and worn down.

Casey smiled "Yeah, I think I needed a proper rest" she said with a gentle smile and nodded as he left to check the clearing. She went to the locked cupboard and took out the half full bottle of water. she took a small sip and poured a small amount in to a cup for him for when he got back.

Jonathan made his way to the bed, "it's all clear out there," he said. He was personally a little apprehensive to fall asleep, she knew where all his supplies were hidden now, and his weapons were all here. He smiled softly at her, taking the sip of water, "thank you," he mentioned softly.

He climbed onto the bed and got comfortable.

Casey settled down in to her chair once again, picking up her book and starting where she had left off. Her knife was placed on the table next to her, and every so often she would look up to glance out the window.

She was not too co greened about surveillance as in her time her on her own she had seen nothing but wildlife.

Jonathan kept himself awake for as long as he could manage, to check she wasn't going to stab him in his sleep. He drifted into a very light, troubled sleep. He tossed and turned, struggling to find a comfortable position, all his muscled hurt from sleeping on the hard ground he had been.

"Dad stop, I don't want to do this," he mumbled softly in his daze. He kept mumbling clearly stuck in a nightmare.

Casey glanced over at him concerned. She's wondered if she should wake him, knowing he probably didn't want her to hear it, but she knew he also really needed sleep.

She let it slide, hoping he might not say any more. She tried to turn her attention back on to her book.

Jonathan shot up, and awake suddenly. It took him a moment to get his bearings of where he was but he calmed down seeing Casey. "Sorry, was I mumbling in my sleep?" he asked lightly.

He was worried he'd said to much and she was scared by him. He wanted to explained things if he had scared her.

She nodded slowly "yeah... it was about your dad. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to" she told him gently and got up to go sit next to him on the bed.

"He was really shitty to you, wasn't he?" She asked, not meaning to pry, it was more of an observation.

Jonathan sighed and sat back. "He wasn't very supportive, and hit me when he was drunk," he explained. He shifted slightly when she came close, "but that wasn't what I'm struggling with," he added.

During the first week of the craziness, Jonathan had been with his dad, struggling to survive. His father had taken a stupid pointless risk to get some alcohol from a store, and had been bitten. He didn't turn right away, he made it back to the house, and didn't tell Jonathan. He died the next day, and turned attacking Jon.

Jonathan looked at her, "I had to kill him," he said finally.

Casey listened carefully as he told her his story, she wanted to take his hNd or something like she would for a friend, but she could tell he was uncomfortable sitting so close to her.

She wasn't even sure how to treat him, her past instincts were telling her to start mocking him, bit she knew that was wrong now. Her heart just wanted to hug him but she felt he wouldn't appreciate it.

"J... I'm really sorry that he beat you. And I'm sorry you had to see your dad that way and do that. Your really really strong. I just wouldn't be able to it" she commented, and delicately placed her hand on his shoulder hoping he wouldn't mind.

Jonathan frowned slightly, letting her comfort him. He wasn't normally like this, preferring to put on his facade. He looked at her, "It's okay, it had to be done, I just wish he'd told me he'd gotten bitten, or had the smarts not risk it for alcohol," he admitted.

He took her hand, "I was wondering what your thoughts were at the moment, do you want to stick together for a little while?" he asked.

She nodded "yeah I get where you're coming from, he put you both on a lot of danger" she said gently. She couldn't even. Who. To comprehend how he felt. If that was her in that position she knew. She would have gone crazy.

She was taken aback as he took her hand, but she gave his a squeeze nonetheless. "I would really like that, I prefer not being alone" she told him gently and rested her head against his shoulder. "Nobody should ever be alone. I'm so sorry for what I did to you J"

Jonathan nodded lightly, "Yeah I understand that, I don't blame you," he said lightly. He smiled at her, "I'll teach you to shoot when we get a chance," he told her.

He was glad that she seemed to want to stick around, this cabin was a much better place to hideout, after a little work.

She smiled back at him and stood up "get some sleep Jon, we. Other news to be rested up" she said gently and went back over to her chair by the window.

She was happy that he was willing to stick around d with her for a while, and they were both starting to trust on another.

Jonathan nodded and sat back, on the bed. He knew he probably wouldn't get back to sleep but he wanted to try. He smiled softly at her, "We'll need to find you some warmer clothes, at some point," he commented lightly.

He had been going nuts slowly being alone all the time, with not power. He hoped that they'd be able to stick around her cabin throughout the winter.

Casey wrapped her arms around herself and laughed "yeah, that was my original intent yesterday" she informed him, crossing her legs and leaning them up on the chair opposite her.

She glanced up at him a few times as he tried to get back to sleep.

Jonathan lay silently for half an hour before giving up. He had never really been one to sleep for long periods of time, and figured that he had slept enough. He sat up on the bed, swinging his legs over onto the floor. He smiled softly at Casey.

He hadn't worked out how he'd begin to teach her to shoot, or any of the other things they would have to do. He was hoping that things would work themselves out to an extent. He pulled his leather jacket off his shoulders, "you could borrow this if you want," he offered.
