Benjamin blushed softly, "I was hoping you'd say something like that," he admitted. "I like the idea that we're dating, and maybe if you have some time off soon, you could come visit me, get to know me better," he told her. It was about now that Ben had finished his breakfast, so he went back to sipping his tea.

"I'd like that" Carly told him happily with a smile, placing her knife and fork down on her plate as she finished. "Will you continue to send me excerpts along with your letters?" She asked softly, a blush filling her cheeks. They had been some of her favourite parts of the previous letter.

Benjamin smiled softly looking at her blushing, "I'll send them occasionally as a treat," he teased softly. "As long as I have inspiration for them," he said softly. He looked down for a moment, "Plus our letters can be a little more personal, if you give me your home address to send them too," he mentioned.

"oh my God yeah, I'm so sorry... I'd forgotten you didn't have my address" she said with a laugh and scrolled it down on an old receipt in her handbag, sliding it across the table to him. She smiled, excited to start writing him letter again, she had forgotten how much she had enjoyed it. "Shall we go pick up that mobile phone? You are going to have to go soon"

Benjamin smiled brightly, and slipped the note into his pocket. He nodded to her, "yeah, I'll cover the check," he said lightly. He stood up and walked around pulling her chair out for her. He looked at her, "yes we should, then we can talk on special occasions," he said softly.

Carly smiled happily and popped in to the bathroom to fix her hair and make sure her make up was okay before she headed off to find him a simple phone. She found him outside and headed towards one of the mobile carriers stores with him. "Would you like me to sign up for it on my name so they don't know who you are?" She offered.

Benjamin waited for her to be ready to leave. He smiled widely as she came back out, and followed her. He looked at her, "that would be good, if you don't mind" he mentioned. He wouldn't be using the phone often, and only to ever talk with her.

Carly nodded happily. She picked him out a pretty basic phone, but she made sure it would be able to receive photographs and audio messages without internet connection. She smiled as she handed it to him. "Just for special occasions" she said with a smile.

She was sad to see him go, but she knew she would have his letters to look forward to. "Best of luck with your new book Been" she said with a smile.

Benjamin smiled looking over the phones, completely uncertain what each one did, he was glad Carly had agreed to help him. He smiled taking the phone from her, "thank you, I look forward to calling you occasionally," he said lightly.

He reached out and hugged her, as he prepared to head back to his hotel to catch his train home. "Best of luck with MacMillan, Carly, I'll keep in touch," he promised her.

Carly smiled brightly, pulling her coat a little tighter around her to shield her from the cold. "I look forward to receiving an occasional call" she teased, hugging him back as he wished her good luck.

On a whim, she leaned forward and kissed his cheek just as he went to walk away. She could see a reddish-orange lip mark left there after the kiss and chose not to say anything. She enjoyed having stamped him as her own. I'll be waiting for your letter" she told him before walking off quickly.

Benjamin blushed when she kissed him, he smiled softly, "I'll write you when I get home," he promised her. He headed off to catch his train.

After he arrived home, Benjamin began unpacking his things and getting back into the swing of being on his own. He wandered down to the market to set up having some groceries delivered regularly again. He sat down to write, trying to continue on with his new book, that was far from ready. After a week he decided to write Carly at her home address

    "To the Lovely Carly

Sorry for leaving it so long before writing, I wanted to settle back into things. I spent some time setting things up again. I have slowly been working away on my writing again, but things are moving slow, this one is proving to be difficult.

I have found myself thinking of you, whenever a moment comes when nothing is on my mind. It's a pleasant feeling to have that happen. I hope you are well, and occasionally think of me. I have included a small except that I wrote after that night on the phone, I hope you like it.

    Your Ben"

He sealed the letter into an envelope and walked it down to the post office.

Carly had been busy with work for the past week, but she found her mind wondering to Benjamin quite often. When she was home alone, when she was out with friends, she couldn't help but imagine what things would be like if he were there with her. With each day that passed she became increasingly worried that he wasn't going to write, that he had realised she was far too young and immature for him and had moved on. The brunnette often found herself lying in bed, clutching her mobile to her chest trying to bring up the courage to call him, but never did. She had promised him she wouldn't after all.

She had never felt so happy as when she arrived home one Wednesday evening and opened her mailbox to be greeted by the familiar oaky scent she had come to associate with Ben. With hungry eyes she divulged the letter, reading the excerpt over and over with happiness. Once she sat down she found herself writing several draughts of the letter over and over.. she needed it to be perfect.

    To my Benjamin,

I had feared you had forgotten all about me, leaving me behind with the hustle and bustle in the London Smog. I feel words cannot describe the joy I felt to finally have received your letter.

I am sorry to here the new book is not going as well for you as you had hoped. I do fear I may perhaps be a distraction, albeit a welcome one. I know that you most certainly are my biggest distraction Ben, I find my mind wondering to you at the strangest of times. I sometimes play conversations in my head as if we are having them. I thoroughly enjoyed that excerpt, it trultly excites me to think that I make you feel that way. I promise the feeling is mutual, however I am not as good with words and therefore will not even attempt to adequetely describe it.

Until I hear from you again,
    Your Carly.

She gave the paper a quick spritz with her perfume before sealing it. She posted it on her way to work the following day.

Benjamin spent the rest of his week working on his new book. He had finally mapped out an interesting plot and some decent characters, and was preparing to write up a complete pitch. He hated this part of the process, but figured the publishers would want one for this book, since it was such a step away from his usual work.

He decided to take another break from writing for a few days, and tidied up the yard of his cottage. Cleaning out the garden and planting some new plants. When Carly's letter arrived, he sat down to read it almost immediately. He enjoyed reading that he had been on her mind, and had enjoyed his excerpt. He penned a response overnight.

    My dearest Carly,

How could I ever forget about you? Your stunning beauty rivals that of the sunrise. The book has been put on hold for a little while, I planned out the plot, but want to give it a week or so before checking back.

Recently I've spent some time tidying my place up, apparently my cottage once had quite a nice vegetable garden, and backyard.

It truly warms me that I've been on your mind, honestly my image of you in that babydoll continues to prop up in my mind on occasion, such as when I opened your letter. I'm glad you enjoyed my excerpt, I will consider writing another sometime.

    Thinking of you,
    Benjamin.

He carefully sealed the envelope after dabbing some of his cologne onto the paper. He was pleasantly surprised that she'd kept her promise not to call him.

Work had become very busy with Carly, and she had unfortunately fallen I'll with a flu which rendered her unable to leave her apartment for a few days. By the time she had realised there was a letter from Benjamin in her cubby she saw tht it had been almost 8 days since it was posted.

Nevertheless she smiled as she read the letter, replying Immediately.

    Benjamin,

You flatter me, but of course there is no need for these compliments to impress me, you do that just by being you. Perhaps the break from writing for a few days may clear your head, I'm glad to hear that you are getting the place ready for when I come to visit!

It is with sorrow that I inform you I will not be on the puplishing team for your new novel. I believe Karen fears we have built too good of a rapport upon working together on your last novel, and she is afraid that I will not be able to hold an unbiased opinion against the writing. I would argue, however I know that she is correct, for I don't see how any words that leave your mind could not be of the highest standard.

Perhaps some day, I'll show you that babydoll in person. I will strive for it to meet your expectations.

    Yours, in a babydoll,
    Carly x

Carly hoped that he would understand the teasing to e she used in the letter. It was a fear of hers that she would accidentally offend him. She glanced around the room quickly, wanting to add an extra little something to this letter for him. She nibbled on her lower lip, her fingers tapping against the desk as she thought hard. With a cheeky smirk she pulled the silk belt off of her nightgown, thinking for a minute about whether she really wanted to go through with this. With a spur of courage, she cut the belt to a length of about 2 foot and slipped it inside the envelope, attaching a note"

I'll let you decide what this is for x@ A Drop On the Window

Benjamin had expected a reply fairly quickly, and found himself disappointed as a week past, and then almost another week. His thoughts of her started to come more frequently as he waited impatiently for a response. When he wasn't thinking of her, he continued to work on the garden and other exterior of his home.

He almost ran to the postman when he noticed him coming down the road to deliver the letter, but refrained himself. He thanked him before retiring inside. He sat down with the letter to read it, the piece of silk dropping onto his lap. He looked at it confused, before deciding to read the letter.

He waited some time, trying to work out how to respond to the letter, before writing one out.

    Carly,

I hope my place will be to your liking by the time you arrive. It may take a few more months though if I'm honest. I'm hoping to get back to writing the new book soon.

It saddens me to know you won't be working with me on the new book, perhaps raise with Karen that you were the one to convince me to do some events, maybe you can be involved in that part. To be honest I don't think I'd find promotional events as fun, without you there, to gaze upon.

To be candid, my dear. I'd prefer to see you out of that babydoll. ;). I have been struggling to work out what that lovely smelling piece of silk is for, maybe you could let me know when you pick up the courage to call me.

    Yours Benjamin xoxo.

He continued to ponder over the silk, while he waited to post the letter the next day.

By the time Carly had read and received Benjamin's most recent letter, she realised that her response would not reach him in time for what she needed. She waited a couple of days, until his birthday approached and she took a deep breath as she began to type on her phone.

    My Ben,

I apologise most concurrently that this communication is digital, however time was of the essence and for such a reason I had to break our three letter rule. I will allow for four next time to make up for this.

I just wanted to wish you the happiest of Birthdays. Even if you won't tell me what age you are ;). You deserve the best wishes on the world on your day, I wish I could be with you.

I thoroughly hope you enjoy your attached presents, perhaps they may give you some ideas as to what that lenght of silk robe could be used for.

    Yours, Carly x

With a deep breath, Carly attached 3 photos that she had taken for him last night. After staring at her phone for a number of minutes she worked up the courage and hit send. She was rather nervous in case she had freaked Benjamin out now.

Benjamin was enjoying his birthday. He had taken the day off work, and was sitting reading a book. As the sun began to set, he heard his phone chirp. He smiled to himself knowing only one person had his number.

He unlocked his phone, and read over the text. It wasn't until the final line that he noticed the message had attachments. He smiled, and opened them.

As he looked over the photo's of Carly, in erotic poses, he found himself growing aroused again. He smiled to himself.

    My Carly,

Don't worry about the communications being digital, I'm glad to hear from you today. I will look forward to your next letter.

Thank you for your well wishes, and my presents. They are sublime, I shall cherish them and keep them for only my eyes. For such lovely presents I think you deserve to know today was my 39th Birthday. I hope that doesn't freak you out.

I long to see you in person again, to see the beauty portrayed in those photo's in reality.

    Lovingly Yours, Ben xoxo.

After a brief pause, he sent off the message back to her. He then flicked open the photo's again, gazing upon them, losing himself in thoughts of her.

Carly fought the urge to message him back, she didn't want to get too used to instant communication with him. She was glad that he had liked the text from her though. She felt her stomach tightening a little when he said he was 39. It wasn't exactly a surprise, she just wondered if they could really make things work with so much distance between them, geographically and agewise.

She sighed softly as she tossed her phone across the room and lay back on her bed. She found herself growing more and more frustrated with the lack of touch, however she longed for Benjamin's letters to come to brighten her week.

After a couple of days passed she sat down to put pen to paper once again.

    Been,

I miss you more and more every day. I sometimes feel like your time here was just a cruel dream to tease me as to just how great you are to have around. I find myself re-reading your letters over and over.

I was so glad to hear you enjoyed your photos, I was very nervous to send them, but I thought you might like them. I can promise you I was thinking of you and that night on the phone as I took them. I think about that night a lot actually.

    I miss you.

    Your Carly x

She sealed the letter and set it I to her handbag to be posted the following day before heading to bed. She was used to living on her own, but the apartment was beginning to feel very big and empty for one person.

Benjamin found himself looking over the photo's everyday. His want to see her in person again, building every moment. He sat down to continue writing his new book, but found that every time he tried to write it drifted into a erotic ode to her. He sighed, waiting to hear from her.

When her new letter arrived he smiled to himself, he sat down to read it. The words echoing through his mind in her voice. He started penning a response.

    Carly, my love

I have developed the same longing to see you. I feel sorry that while I can gaze upon those pictures of you to alleviate my heart ache from not seeing you, you have nothing. I hope that my books, and my words provide some relief.

I have thoroughly enjoyed those photo, and often find myself drifted into erotic thoughts of you as I close my eyes. I often think of that night, and would very much like to one day share a night together with you.

I hope you are doing well. I not sure of anything you would want from me that could tide you over until we next meet, but let me know, and I'll endeavor to provide.

    Eternally yours Benjamin

He sat looking at the letter, and his response. He seal the letter with a gentle kiss, and a touch of his cologne. He hoped that she would like to know he thought of her often.

Carly found herself almost waiting for the postman everyday now, taking her post off of him quickly each morning before work. She smiled when she smelt that familiar oaky scent among the envelopes in her hand.

She read the letter and I'mmediately began writing her reply.

    Ben,

I honestly get butterflies in my stomach to hear you refer to me as your love. I still wish to get to know you more. Perhaps you could tell me about your Childhood?

As I've told you before, I grew up in Manchester with my brother and sister and of course my parents. I was your average little girl, I took ballet classes, and played with Barbie's but I always had an intense love of reading, I would read anything I could, the TV guide backs of shampoo bottles.. I became quite the know it all really.

I still continued with ballet though, up until I was 19. I almost considered pursuing it as my career, wouldn't things be different then? Well I guess, as a skill ballet still often comes in handy, I'm rather flexible ;).

    Yours faithfully, Carly x
