just say you won't let go

  • "I'm not going to like this at all, then," Sam said, making a face when he heard his brother's words and he stared at him for a long moment, wondering what exactly Dean was up to. Shaking the thought aside, he pulled up the map so that he could keep track of where they were going and he made sure to give his brother the directions. "We're pretty close. We should be seeing the hospital any minute now."

  • Dean chuckled as he saw the signs for the hospital, following them in silence. "Alright, do you trust me?" Dean asked, finding a place to park Baby by the front entrance, right outside the Emergency Room. Dean exited the car, cracking his knuckles with a slight smirk, wondering if it was bad to be enjoying this as much as he was.

  • Sam stared at his brother for a long time before he snorted. "Not really," he admitted but climbed out of the car anyways, watching Dean warily. This idea didn't sit well with him, but he figured that it was probably the easiest option they had right now. Either way, he shook his head and motioned with his hands. "Alright, let's get this over with."

  • "Aw Sammy, I'm so sorry." Dean laughed, before stomping on his brother's foot with all the weight he could manage and punching him hard in the chest, knocking him back a step or two, although grabbing his arm to steady him on his feet. "How're you feeling?" Dean asked with the biggest grin his face could hold, trying not to laugh.

  • Sam could feel his breathing halt, the wind escaping him, and he groaned as he held his chest. "Oh, man," he groaned out, rubbing his chest as he glared at Dean for a long moment. "I'm going to make you pay for that once this is all over."
    June 28th, 2018 at 08:08pm
  • "I'm almost positive you'll thank me later," Dean grinned proudly, leading Sam into the Accident and Emergency department. "We need help over here!" He called, over exaggerating Sam's pain.
    June 28th, 2018 at 08:12pm
  • Sam rolled his eyes with faint amusement, but he made sure to play up the show of pretending to be in an incredible amount of pain. A nurse quickly rushed over to help, getting him into a room before long, where he waited patiently, hopeful that luck would be on his side.

  • "Well, don't you know how to make an entrance?" A voice came from the door asked. Rosie entered the holding room, her hair tied back as she offered a small smile, dressed in blue scrubs."Hi there, I'm Rosie Abbott, I'm your nurse for today." Seeing Sam doubled over, she raised her eyebrows. "You must be the patient - what's the problem?" She took a seat, her eyes studying him for longer than she intended.
    June 28th, 2018 at 09:22pm
  • Sam lifted his gaze, pausing with surprise. There stood Rosie, looking as beautiful and as perfect as the Rosie from the other universe did. For a while, he was at a loss for words, but he eventually cleared his throat. "Oh, uh... Slight chest pains," he said eventually, though his gaze didn't leave her.

  • "Oh dear," Rosie smiled reassuringly. "And may I ask your name?" She asked as she pulled the stethoscope from around her neck. "Alright, so you're quite young and you look physically fit, is there a history of heart problems in your family?" Rosie asked, gently placing the end of the stethoscope to Sam's chest, listening intently as his heartbeat quickened. "I think we might need to do an ECG, just to be sure." She smiled, sitting back down and making some notes.

Dean raised his eyebrows at Sam. "No history of heart issues." He informed her. "Hi, I'm Dean, big brother."

  • "Oh, uh... It's Sam Winchester," Sam told her, watching her for a long time and, when she got closer to him, he couldn't help but to take notice of all the small details - and each one, the quirk of her smile, the light in her eyes, made his heart speed up more. "No, there aren't really any health problems in my family." Nodding slightly, he watched her, just really taking her in, committing her to memory.

  • "Alright Sam Winchester," she smiled over at him, biting her lip. She had never felt so anxious around a patient before, but she wanted to make sure Sam was okay. "Well, uh, I'll go and get the ECG machine, but for now, you need to take your shirt off and lay down." She explained, exiting the room. Not after two minutes, Rosie was wheeling in a heavy looking machine, waiting for Sam to follow her instructions.

  • Sam watched her go, still finding it hard to wrap his mind around the fact that she was there, that it was actually her. Feeling his heart almost soaring with the possibilities of where this could go, he nodded to her instructions. Standing, he tugged his shirt off, blinking when she returned. "How long have you been a nurse?" he asked with curiosity as he sat back down and laid down, as per her instructions.

  • "Uh, I qualified fully last year." Rosie smiled, attaching the devices for the ECG onto his chest. "Best thing I ever did." She smiled, gently pushing his shoulder so he was flat against the bed. "Alright, just stay still." She smiled, putting on the machine and taking notes as the rhythm of his heart began to slow down to normal rates. "Do you suffer from anxiety at all, Sam?" She asked.

  • "So, you like being a nurse, then?" Sam asked when she said it was the best thing she'd ever done. He smiled to himself, finding it easy to believe - Rosie was such a good person, of course helping people, being a part of the process to save and comfort people, would be something she would love. When she told him to stay still, he did his best not to angle his head to get a better look at her, despite so badly just wanting to keep watching her. "Not usually, no." The only time he recalled any anxiety was when the other Rosie had just disappeared without a word, but she'd showed back up in his... Mind or whatever, and explained things.

  • "I love it," she smiled. "My Mom is pretty sick right now, she lives in Kansas, so I've got some time off to go and see her. She's the one who pushed me to go for all this." Rosie was shocked at how easily she was able to open up to Sam, clearing her throat. "Your heart is looking really healthy, but I'd recommend a couple of days of rest, little stress, no alcohol, all the good stuff." She smiled, pulling the patches from his skin gently.

  • "Oh, you're going to see your mom in Kansas?" Sam asked, blinking with surprise, "Is she okay?" He frowned slightly with concern with the mention of it, watching her with concern. How bad off was her mom? What was wrong with her? "My brother and I are actually from Kansas. We're on a bit of a road trip right now, but, if you want, we could take you to Kansas, when you get that time off? I mean, I know it's probably weird offering that so suddenly, but... I know how close family can be. If my mom or dad were sick, I'd want to get there to be with them quickly." He nodded, though, with her talking about his heart and shifted to sit up. "Right, I'll make sure to do all of that, promise." He smiled slightly, watching her.

  • "She has something wrong with her heart, but it's serious." Rosie half smiled. "She's on her last legs." Rosie explained, watching as Dean walked out of the room to give the two some space. Unsure of whether or not Rosie should accept Sam's invitation, she bit her lip. "I'd really appreciate that." She smiled. "As long as I wouldn't be imposing in any way," she smiled, handing his t-shirt to him, despite how brilliant he looked shirtless. "You're actually my last patient, but I just need to get to my locker and get changed." She explained. "Thank you."

  • Sam's expression softened with the explanation and he nodded slightly. "I'm sorry to hear about that," he told her quietly, "It can't be easy - not for her and not for you, especially with you all the way here." He couldn't imagine what that would be like, especially for Rosie, constantly waiting and worrying over whether she'd hear any news about her mother's declining health or whether her mom would die and she wouldn't be by her side. "You wouldn't be imposing. We'll be heading back soon, I think." Smiling, he nodded and took the shirt, tugging it on. "Alright, we can wait around for you. And you don't have to thank me." He watched her for a long moment, just taking her in. "I want to help." And he wanted to be around her, but he couldn't be entirely selfish, not with what was going on with her mom.

  • Rosie smiled. "You're a good guy, Sam." She smiled. "Uh, my locker is just upstairs if you wanna walk that off? ECGs aren't exactly the nicest things in the world." Rosie smiled at the ground, trying not to get too attached to Sam. He was so sweet, and she figured he probably had someone back home - how could someone like him not? Opening the door for Sam, Rosie followed him out.

Dean raised his eyebrows at Sam, wiggling them when he saw that Rosie stayed quite close to Sam.
