just say you won't let go

"I try to be," Sam said, offering a smile to her, though he nodded slightly. "Go ahead. We'll wait here." He watched her, unable to really tear his eyes away from her, but smiled to himself as he made his way out of the room first, though he immediately wanted to punch Dean when he saw him wiggling his brows so obviously. Quickly, in hopes of avoiding letting Rosie see, he turned to her. "Will you need to pick anything up from your house? I don't know how long you're planning to stay in Kansas, so..." He shrugged, offering a smile.

Dean smirked at Sam's protectiveness, shaking his head.

"I've got a bag in my locker," she reassured. "I won't be too long." She disappeared down the hall.

Upon seeing Rosie turn a corner, Dean instantly shoved Sam. "Well, that's cute."

Rosie opened her locker, quickly changing to some jeans, a Metallica t-shirt, swapping her nursing shoes for her high tops. Grabbing the bag she had pre-packed, Rosie slipped off her stethoscope and placed it in her locker, letting her hair down from it's conservative ponytail. Approaching Sam and Dean again, Rosie cleared her throat, her bag over her shoulder, hoping she wasn't interrupting the brothers.

"Shut up," Sam muttered, rolling his eyes at his brother's teasing, "You're going to freak her out and make her run for the hills." Snorting quietly, he tried not to let his brother's teasing get to him, not wanting to worry Rosie. Blinking when he heard her clear her throat, he turned to look at her and, in that moment, he swore that he hadn't seen anybody as gorgeous. She looked so much more casual and, while she'd been gorgeous in her scrubs and with a ponytail, the way her hair fell around her shoulders and the way she was dressed in general just took his breath away.

Dean smirked at how Sam looked at Rosie. "I think his anxiety's playing up today, Rosie." Dean nodded, leading the way to Impala, his thoughts drifting back to Alice, and the art show he'd promised he and Sam would attend. "Alright, we've got one more stop."

Rosie smiled up at Sam. "You're feeling okay, right?" She asked, clearly genuinely concerned as her eyebrows furrowed together. "Just... let me know if you feel sick." She offered his arm a gentle squeeze, following Dean's lead.

Sam shot Dean another look but he smiled slightly and nodded to Rosie's words. "I'm feeling fine, don't worry. Dean just likes to give me a hard time," he assured her quietly, though he couldn't help but to enjoy the way it felt when she squeezed his arm. Watching her, his expression softened and he smiled happily, just so badly hoping that this would work out okay. "Yeah, of course, I'll let you know. Thank you." Smiling, he watched her but shifted to follow after Dean. "I hope you're okay with the extra stop." He hadn't mentioned it to Rosie, in part having forgotten because he'd been so overwhelmed by her.

Rosie smiled. "I don't mind," she reassured. "I'm grateful for the ride, you two do what you need to." Getting into the backseat, Rosie blinked in confusion, feeling like she'd been in the car before. Shaking it off, she got comfortable, watching Sam carefully.

Sam smiled slightly and nodded to her words. "Good. We'll try to get you to your mom as soon as we can," he promised her, watching her for a moment before he climbed into the passenger seat and buckled up. He looked in the rearview mirror, though, watching her. "You okay?" he asked, noticing that she'd looked mildly confused for a moment.

"Don't worry, my Uncle's with her." Rosie reassured, smiling gratefully. "Uh, yeah, I just had some deja vu, or something." She laughed, ducking her head to hide her confusion and slight embarrassment.

"Really?" Dean asked, raising his eyebrows. "Interesting." He murmured to himself, wondering if the Alice or Rosie were subconsciously connected to their other universe selves. Dean began to drive, excited to see Alice again, tapping the steering wheel happily at the thought.

Sam blinked with the mention of it, peering over at his brother as he wondered about whether that was related to the other Rosie or not. Still, he offered a smile, peering back at Rosie. "Well, if you experienced deja vu, maybe it'll help you feel comfortable in the car, at least?" he offered up.

Dean drove carefully, feeling more at ease now that he’d found Alice, and now that Sam had found Rosie. Gripping to the steering wheel, he exhaled silently, hoping everything would turn out in their favour and they could get to know the girls and strike up something in the long run.

Rosie smiled and nodded. “It’s a beautiful car.”

Sam nodded slightly. "Dean takes good care of her," he said with amusement, "He might love this car more than himself. If that's possible." He sent a joking look to his brother before returning his attention to Rosie, unable to keep his eyes off her for long. "So, what made you want to be a nurse?"

Dean listened intently, looking at the flyer for the art show Alice had given Dean just hours before. Tapping his steering wheel, Dean looked in the rear view mirror, noticing how different this Rosie was to the other Rosie.

Rosie smiled, shrugging. “I just love helping people, I guess. My Dad passed when I was younger and I think that influenced my decision a lot.”

"Oh," Sam said with mild surprise, unsure of whether he'd crossed into awful territory for conversation or not. But, he didn't want to seem awkward, so he continued. "Were you and your dad close?" He watched her, curious, but also wanting to see whether he should be more careful about his choices in conversation. He didn't want her to avoid talking to him just because he was getting too personal.

Rosie smiled reassuringly at Sam, seeming to sense his anxiety. "Don't worry, Sam, you're not making me uncomfortable. I didn't really get the chance to know him, or remember him. I was three." Rosie explained. "But it affected my Mom for a long time."

Sam nodded with the explanation, listening to her quietly, feeling as though he could listen to her talk forever and never tire of her voice. "You clearly care about your mom a whole lot," he mentioned quietly, concerned for her. If her mom's health was declining, how broken and hurt would Rosie be if things continued to get worse?

"We've had our moments where we didn't get along," Rosie admitted. Dean nodded in understanding, he and Sam where close to Mary and John, but there were times where sometimes, he and his father just didn't seen eye to eye.

"I think that's the case with any family," Sam assured her with a nod, "Our dad's the most hard-headed person we know, so there can sometimes be a bit of anger filling a room immediately if somebody doesn't agree with him." He offered a smile, wanting to assure her that it was okay to argue with parents on occasion. "It doesn't mean you love them any less, though."

Rosie smiled at Sam's wisdom. "Smart way of thinking." She studied him. "So, what's this road trip you're both on? Brotherly bonding time?" Clearly curious, Rosie couldn't seem to pull her gaze from Sam, something about him pulling her in.

"Uh... Something like that," Sam said, unsure of how to really explain it without telling her the truth, but he didn't want to outright lie, either. "We're just... Searching for happiness, really." His gaze stayed on her, completely focused on her and, when he realized it, he hoped that he wasn't being obvious or that it wouldn't raise questions, because Sam truly, genuinely believed that Rosie was who he would find happiness with, that she was his happiness.

Rosie smiled, nodding in understanding, tucking her hair behind her ear. “I’m sure you’ll find it.” She smiled. “So, Sam, anyone special in your life?” She asked, half curious. Rosie’s didn’t care if she was being too forward or outright in this moment, just wanting to take her mind off her worry and get to know him a little more.

Dean smirked at the question, whistling an unknown tune.
