The Night is Long and Dark

Ezra laughed a little, "That is the power of black magic." He said. He shook his head, "I dont want you to try and mess with that though. It is too dangerous." He said. Ezra knew she wasn't ready for that. "I still watch over Blair because of how dangerous it can be." He explained. He watched her, "And you aren't crazy. You are just finally being yourself." He told her. He knew she just needed to get comfortable.

Blair pouted slightly, "Silas, I'm hurt that you would think I would do something like that. Especially to you. After all we are friends." She said as she stepped towards him. "I think we csn be very good friends." She said as she ran her fingers over his chest and looked up at him. "Don't you think so?" She asked him, smiling a little.

Mallory frowned "black magic? I thought that wasn't really practiced anymore...?" She said softly, trying to recall her Grandmother's Journels. She had several in her suitcase that she yet to read, but they were sentimentalso she preferred to keep them private. She sighed softly "I'm meeting with the headmistress in an hour, I think I'm going to go for a quick lie down first" she told him, giving his knee a friendly tap as she stood up."thanks for everything" she said gently before heading towards her room. No sooner than her door closed, the headmistress appeared on the stairs beckoning Ezra.

Silas shook her off, holding her at arm's length. "Blair stop it. You are a child in my eyes, full of mischief and immaturaty. Keep up your side of the covenant and we'll keep ours. I'll see you when we next need each other's services" he said beginning to walk away.

Ezra looked up as the headmistress called for him. He walked up and went to her office with her. "What did you need?" He asked as he sat down with her. Ezra crossed his arms as he watched her sit down.

Blair frowned as he pulled away then used her magic to appear in front of him. "I am not a child. I am stronger than you and your whole pack put together." She said. "I am starting to think that you think your too good for me and you would be very wrong. You should be thankful I am even talking to you." She snapped.

The headmistress sat slowly looking across the desk at him. "So what are your first impressions?" She asked him, crossing her legs over one another as she listened to him intently.

Silas sighed, smirking at her. "You could have just walked" he teased, continuing to walk away. He listened to her rant on, chuckling to himself. "Oh wow, and she's modest too" he taunted rolling his eyes. She was beginning to grind on his nerves a little bit, and he knew she couldn't use her magic on him for no reason, she would be breaking treaty.

Ezra smirked, "She is very innocent. She will be easy to manipulate." He explained. "Though she does ask a lot of question about her visions." He said. "If she gets stronger she may be able to see what we don't want her to." He said.

Blair frowned, "Why are you such a jerk?" She asked, crossing her arms. She watched as he looked at her. She was very good a pouted, "I was just trying to be nice to you." She said.

A grin pulled at the Headmistress' lips as she leaned back in her chair. "Excellent. It such a shame her power has been so diluted, her grandmother was an excellent witch. Too soft for her own good, but highly powerful. Perhaps with the right conditioning we can work that out of Mallory" she said, a conniving tone to her voice. "We will handle the visions as they come dear child, for now have her trust you, make sure you are the first person she comes to" she informed him, straightening up in her chair as a knock sounded on her door.

She smiled as she motioned for Mallory to enter, dismissing Ezra. Her demeaner quickly changed to a slightly woman wwho was merely happy to be entertaining such a 'bright young witch'.

Silas laughed, tossing his head back. "I'm not a jerk, I'm looking out for both of best interests" he taunted her, quickly allowing his canines to fill down. "Besides, I don't believe your idea of fun matches mine" he teased, winking at her as he retracted his teeth back again.

He had to admit she was a beautiful girl,and it was always a tempting offer. Silas figured however that getting tied up with a witch was just far too much hassle for him. There were plenty of Witches with a B in his own kind who were more than happy to put out.

Ezra smiled then got up and walked out. He let Mallory in then went to go get something to eat. He knew that she already trusted him a little, but he was sure that he could get her to really come to him for all of his problems. He smirked as he sat down and began to eat. If he had her to help then they would be unstoppable.

Blair smiled when he showed his teeth, "That is where you are wrong. I like all kinds of fun." She said as she moved over to him again. "You know just because we have fun one time doesn't mean it has to affect anything." She said to him. She looked over his body then looked at him and smiled.

About an hour later Mallory emerged from the office, looking a little research in the face. She headed to the kitchen, feeling a little weird going poking around but she was starving. She spotted Ezra and waved to get his attention. "Hey.. food situation? Do we cook ourselves dinner?" She asked him, tossing her hair off of her face. Her heart was still having a mile a minute.

Silas placed his hand on the girls head, laughing as she struggled to get close enough to touch him. He had never actually tried doing this to somebody before but it was just as humorous as he had imagined. He chuckled loudly "oh Blair, you do mause me" he said finally letting her go. "But I also know you have flirted with half of this town and anything else with a pulse, so I don't worry that you'll find your fun somewhere" he told her.

Ezra looked at her, "We have someone that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but other than that it is fend for yourself." He said. He finished eating, "How was your meeting?" He asked as he grabbed his glass of water. He knew the headmaster was good at fooling people.

Blair crossed her arms, "Are you saying there is something wrong with that. Monogamy is a very mortal thing. Even you should knkw that Silas." She said. "Now come let me show you a good time." She said.

Mal nodded looking through the fridge for a second before turning back towards him "and what time is dinner exactly?" She asked with a soft laugh, nervously pulling at the sleeves of her top. She relaly did not feel like she fit in very well here. "I mean it was okay... I tried a couple spells, most of them were going pretty okay by the end of it" she said happily "it's just gonna take some getting used to.. and I definitely need to stop using so many hand gestures when I talk" she joked, frowning softly as it fell flat.

Silas rolled his eyes "I'll give it to you Blair, you try hard. But I have better places to be and plenty more things to do he teased suggestively. He could tell that not getting her way was driving her crazy and he loved it.

Ezra looked at her, "I can help you practice your spells if you want." He said. He smiled, "Dinner is at five thirty." He told her as he got up to clean his plate. "I am just impatient." He told her laughing a little.

Blair frowned at him, "Fine. Your loss." She said. "I will see you soon." She said. She walked away and went back to the house. She sighed as she walked to her room. She went into her room and sat down. She was so mad that he didnt want her like everyone else.

Mal smiled softly "yeah, I mean of you wouldn't mind that would be great.. after all you guys do have quite a head start on me!" She joked softly. Realising dinner wasn't too far away she just grabbed an apple, tossing it from hand to hand before taking a bit. "So have you know what you were all your life? A witch I mean?" She asked him.

Silas chuckled as he watched her storm off like a child, glancing back and laughing every couple of steps. He headed back towards the loft where his entire package stayed, still laughing about how wound up the girl had been. He just hoped the rest of his pack would remain healthy.

Ezra nodded, "Yes, I have known since I was little." He said. "You will learn quickly though. It isnt hard to pick up on as long as you practice." He said. "I'm sure Blair will help you with some spells as well." He said.

Blair came downstairs and walked into the kitchen and sat down. "Ezra, He is a jerk. He won't have fun with me." She pouted. She looked at Mallory, "So do you like it here so far?" She asked.

Mal smiled gently, nodding gratefully. She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about Blair but she figured she would need all the help she could get. She turned to face Blair as she came in to the kitchen, still complaining about the wolf. "I mean yeah sure.. it's different" she said softly, pulling her hair behind her ear.

Ezra looked at Blair, "He will take some time because he was told we are bad." He said chuckling. "Dont worry it will be okay. I want you to help Mal with some spells." He said. Ezra left the girls and went to his room. He sighed, "Always casualties in war." He muttered. He knew he would have to push Silas farther to get him to lean on Blair. Ezra smirked as he cast a hex on one to Silas's men that would kill him. He sighed as he got a vision of the man dying.

Blair smiled, "Okay. i can do that." She said as she got up. "We can start with the fun ones." She said. she watched as Ezra walked off then looked at her. "I can teach you to make stuff levitate." She offered.

Mallory's eyes followed Ezra out of the room, a little let down to be left alone with Blair. Mal took a bight from her apple, nodding as Blair said they would do levitation. "Oh hey yeah, I was just doing that one actually" she said happily, placing the apple down on the kitchen table. With a swish of her hands the apple slowly lifted up in the air for about 30 seconds before crashing down. She sighed softly "I mean it needs some work... But it's an improvement. Yesterday I sneezed and it broke a window" she said with a shudder.

Mal straightened up slightly as she felt Blair's eyes resting on her "Sorry to jump ahead of what you wanted to show me.. I found a book upstairs while I was waiting to see the Headmistress'.. o uh, started reading some of the spells fro mit" she admitted, rubbing the back of her neck.

[I'm gonna leave silas' part for now, I'm thinking he comes to her late at night after mourning his pack member]

Blair watched her, "You think too much." She said laughing a little. "You need to just relax because there is no written test for magic." She said. She looked at the apple and made it levitate and moved the apple to Mallory. She smiled as she moved it away when the girl reached for it. She let her have it and laughed a little. "Just wait til you can make bigger things levitate." She told her. She could tell that these simple spells were really exciting to Mallory.

Mallory looked around the kitchen area "bigger things, bigger things.." she muttered under her breath thinking for a minute. Slowly she closed her eyes, moving her hands like she had seen I the book. When she opened her eyes she smiled to see all of the kitchen chairs stacked up on the table. "Something like that" she said giddily, thrilled that she hadn't lost her concentration as she did it. She chuckled, feeling very impressed with herself. "oh hey look.. in not even sure how I do this... But it was one of the very first things I did when I realised that we'll, the weird things that were happening we're being caused by me. She raised her hands, drawing them closer as the lights in the kitchen flickered an went out. She slowly opened her hands to show Mallory the small prob of light in her hands. "What's that called?" She asked.

Blair was impressed that she had stacked the chairs like that. She smiled as she held the light in her hand. "You sure that you havent done this before?" She asked. She took the light from her and restored it to the lights. She laughed a little as she walked with her to on of the spell rooms. "Here study this." She said as she handed her one of the books. "It will teach you a lot of the basics" She explained. "I can help you of course." She said.

Mal shook her head with a soft laugh "I've just been really eager to learn, I've read whatever I can" she said, shrugging as she followed the girl out of the room. She took the book from her looking around. "can we just take any of these?" She asked, running her finger along the spine of all the hooks as she walked around. "yeah your help would be Great Blair thank you, I mean I'm nervous but I would like to be able to control these powers" she said gratefully.

After dinner, Mallory headed staright back to the spell room, pouring over the book that Blair had told her to read. She read through it, not quite excited by anything it showed her. She practiced what she could, hoping not to to get herself in trouble.

Silas was devestated by the death of his pack member, they were like brothers to him, every single one of them. He waited until it was dark before sneaking away from their loft heading back towards Hill House. It was clear something dark was going on. He rang the doorbell, standing waiting.
