The Night is Long and Dark

Ezra found Mallory practicing her magic, "So did you learn today?" He asked with a chuckle. Ezra was glad that she was so eagar. He was also happy that she learned so quickly. He needed her to learn fast.

Blair walked to the door and opened it. She noticed that Silas looked upset. "What's wrong?" She asked as she let him in. She noticed he was wearing the charm she gave him. She touched his hand, seeing his dead pack member. She pulled away, "I'm sorry." She said.

Mal smiled, turning around to face Ezra as she heard his voice. She stood up from the next nodding happily "yeah I've learned a ton, watch" she told him. Beginning slowly, she caused the book she was reading to slam closed, the curtains opened, several of the books began to levitate of the shelves and finally she drew the light out of the room smiling as she held it between her and Ezra, illuminating their faces. "I know it's only amll things, but I've got a lot of the basics down!" She said happily, eventually relighting the room.

Silas hands shook with upset as he tried to talk to her. "I need more than this stupid charm, clearly it isn't protecting my full pack" he said, a tinge of anger in his voice, however he was simply too upset to get mad at her. "This can't happen again Blair, anything I lose a member it's like losing a limb. We've been protecting you for years, now it's your turn. You need to protect us" he demanded weekly,stepping closer to her.

Ezra heard Silas downstairs and looked at Mallory, "Next lesson." He said, taking her with him. He stood at the top of the stairs, "Ahh..our new friend returns." He said. He looked at Blair, "Do a protection spell for him and his pack. Take Mallory with you. It will be a good learning experience." He said.

Blair looked at him as he stepped closer and nodded. "You'll need to take me to them." She said. She looked over as Ezra spoke. "Okay I will take her with me." She said. She looked at Silas, "I need to get some things come on." She said. She walked with him to the room with all her stuff in it. She sighed as she started to gather everything she needed. Blair looked at him, "Your whole pack will need to be present for this." She said.

Mallory shook her head softly "oh no Ezra honestly I'm fine here learning the basics" she said quickly as he dragged her towards the wolf. She felt nervous about going in to a we're wolves lair or whatever you would call it. She glanced at Blair, seeing this was clearly putting her out. "I don't have to come I can stay here" she said softly.

Silas followed Blair in to the room, looking at the new girl as she asked not to come along. "isn't it like stronger if the two of you do it together or something? Bring her" he said, facing Blair again and nodding. "yeah they are all there, it's a mourning period I shouldn't even have come here but we clearly need this help asap

Blair looked at him, "Yea it will be stronger." She said, looking at Mallory. "We need you to come too." She said as she zipped her bag. She looked at Silas, "Let's go." She said. She walked with them to where the wolves were and she could sense them all. She stepped inside with them and they all looked at her.

Mallory blinked hard "but I don't even know what I'm doing?" She said worriedly. She groaned as they took off out the door, assuming that meant she had no choice. She trailed along after them feeling a prescence as they got closer to the house. It was like an intense warmth "is this the vibe they give off?" She asked softly, frowning as a smell of wet dog hit her nose. She stepped in to the loft with the other two, crossing her arms over her chest nervously as she felt all of their eyes settling on her.

Silas Lead them to their HG quickly, wanting all of this to be sorted as quickly as possible. "This is Mallory, and most of you know of Blair. They're going to place a protection spell on our pack so that something like this doesn't happen again" he announced, stepping back to let the witches do their thing.

Blair nodded when she asked about the vibe, "Yes." She said. She walked with her to the center of the room. She got some of her stuff out then looked at Silas. "Im going to need your blood again." She said, holding her hand out to him. She flipped his hand over and sliced it then turned it over, letting it drip into the bowl. She looked at Mallory, "We we start dont stop okay?" She told her. She let go of Silas's hand the offered her hands to Mallory. She could tell the darkness in her washed over Mallory because of how fearful she looked.

Mallory looked around her panicking a little "what'll happen if I stop?" She asked, but before she got her answer Blair had already caught her hands tighltly, the bowl of blood placed between them. Mal felt a weird sensation, it was as if she was leaving her body all over again, a new persona taking over her... And she didn't hate it. She looked up in the Blair's eyes, still lwonderi g what she was meant to be doing, all of a sudden realising that Blair was speaking, but so was she. Her words matched Blair's almost perfectly and Mal had no idea how. She closed her eyes, her voice growing louder as a soft smirk brushed across her lips.

Silas watched them, getting freaked out as they both began to speak in a language that he didn't understand. He realised how vulnerable he had just made his pack and it was beginning to worry him. He truly hoped these witches would stay true to their word and help him and his pack. He felt a cold wind sweeping the air out of the room, a frigid tight space remaining as it all seemed to center around the two females in the center of the room.

Blair didn't bother explaining what happened as she took Mallory's hands and began the spell. She knew that bringing the girl into this would slowly chip away at her soul but Silas needed her help. She when the spell finished the wind settled and she let go of Mallory's hands. She could tell the other girl was a little lightheaded. She looked at Silas, "There you go." She said. She knew nothing else would harm them now.

When Blair let go of her hands, Mallory took a stumbling step backwards. She pressed her hand to her head galncing around. It was like she had just woken up from an intense dream but she was aware that it was all real. She placed her hand out to steady herself, recoiling as it hit off one of Silas' pack members and she was greeted by a vision of teeth ripping flesh under a full. She held her stomach, taking deep breaths as she tried to steady herself. "Blair.. I'm gonna take off" she said softly as she asked the girl chatting with Silas.

Silas nodded at her "thank you, let's hope it works" he said, his voice gruff but still genuinely thankful. He had never seen something like that so close up before and he felt a little mesmerised by it. "We really owe you one, have the Headmistress' get in touch if she needs anything" he told her, holding his hand out to her to shake it.

Blair glanced over at Mallory when she said she was leaving. She shook Silas's hand, "I will let her know. I better catch up to Mallory and make sure she is okay." She said. She let go of his hand then grabbed her stuff. She looked at Silas, "Bye." She said before she went after Mallory. "Mallory wait! " She called before she caught up to her. "Are you okay?" She asked.

Silas nodded softly, letting her run after the other witch as he rejoined his pack in mourning.

Mal nodded weakly as she looked at the girl. "Yeah I just.. that was really fucking surreal" Mal said stopping in the middle of the street to gather herself. And then I touched off one of them and I just... Again, really fucking surreal" she said, trying to shake the image out of her head. "I think I really just need to get to bed" she said softly continuing to walk quickly toward the house.

Blair followed her then walked into the house. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she went to her bedroom and got ready for bed. She knew it was going to be a long day tomorrow with the full moon getting closer.

Ezra watched as Mallory walked in, "Everything okay?" He asked as he walked towards her. "How was it?" He asked.

Mallory sighed, running her hands in to her hair "it went okay, I just... I feel really strange. Can we talk tomorrow?" She asked, already beginning to make her way towards to her bedroom. She went in the her room, using her powers to slam the door closed. She woke up early the next morning, a weird sense of something being missing looking over her.

She got up groggily as she heard a knock on her door.

Ezra walked to Mallory's door and knocked on it. He smiled a she opened it, offering her some breakfast. "Feeling better? Blair said the spell wiped you out last night." He said. "That happens sometimes." He explained.

Mal took the good thanking him, turning to sit on her bed, leaving the door open so he could come in. "Yeah, I kinda was. It just didn't really feel like me" she said gently, looking down at her feet nervously. "maybe I'm just not a very good witch?" She said with a shrug biting down on her lip.

[Yeah sounds good, you wanna start it?]

Ezra chuckled, "You are a very good witch Mal. You just need some practice which is normal. Plus, you are starting so late." He explained. "Most of us have done this for years." He said.

Blair sat on one of the rocks, messing with some herbs. She had been working on some spells that played with life and death. She knew it wasn't smart to do and that it would only cause her issues but she couldnt help herself. The magic consumed her and she loved it.

Mallory sighed softly "Yeah I guess, it's just a lot to take in.. I mean last week I thought I was just a normal girl with impeccably bad luck" she said giving a weak laugh as she looked over at him. "What age are you?" She asked him gently.

Silas was out running in the woods trying to burn off some of the excess energy that the full moon worked up when he sensed somebody nearby. He feared it was a human, but he quickly sensed the smell of a witch. He crept closer, wanting to make sure it was a member of the local coven when he noticed it was Blair. He watched her for a moment before stepping in to the clearing. "What are you doing? He asked

Ezra smiled, "I am twenty five." He said. He smirked, "I am still new technically." He teased her. "I have just had a lot more practice than you have." He said as he sat down on her bed. "You are a quick learner though. " He said to her. "You will have no problem catching on." He said.

Blair looked over, seeing Silas. "Well, look who it is." She teased him. She shrugged when he asked what she was doing, "Practicing." She said. She shut the book she had and got to her feet. "What are you doing here?" She asked him as he came closer. She watched as he seemed weary, "i'm just messing with some reincarnation stuff. Nothing too serious." She said, smiling. She could tell that he was curious, but he was also afraid of what she could do.

Mal nodded slowly as she thought about it. "I'm 19" she informed him softly. "You think you could help me out with learning some new stuff today?" She asked him, pulling her blonde curls out of her eyes.

Silas nodded as she said she was trying to practice reincarnation. "I thought I smelled death, didn't want to offend you though" he teased lightly, leaning against the rock, kind of interested to see more of what she could do after last night.
