Alma let out a little sigh as the announcement was made that signaled the closing of the library. She packed up her bag, returned her books to the front desk to be put on hold for her until she returned the next morning to continue her research. She adjusted the tie on her braid as she headed out of the library, waving to the night guard as she passed through the gates before heading back to her apartment.

She hummed a little as she walked, the streets mostly empty at this hour, the old lampposts and the full moon illuminating her path along the old cobblestones of the city. She was really only half paying attention, knowing the way home by heart, the rest of her attention focused on looking through her unread emails and texts on her phone.

A howl echoed through the night. The mist was heavy through the forest near the city. The full moon always brought out the crazies. A lumbering form stalked the shadows, salivating heavily. The beast was hungry, and could smell it's potential meal.

The lupin figure stalked closer and closer, to the scent of the blonde woman walking through the streets. It moved out into the open, behind her, stalking her slowly a carefully. It's massive leg muscles, showing its power, it's large teeth dripping with saliva.

Alma was still mostly focused on her phone as the lupine figure stalked through the streets, although as it drew closer, she noticed something was off, and looked up from her phone. She could hear someone, or something, walking behind her, but she continued at her same pace, not wanting to give away that she had noticed whoever (or whatever) it was that was following her. She took a sharp turn down a side street, using the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the the monster that was following her out of the corner of her eye, her heart racing as she took off at a sprint, hoping that she would be able to find a place to hide before that thing could catch her.

The large wolf took off, in chase as it heard her sped up. It howled, and growled as it began to chase her down. Hunger and rage, glowing in its eyes. It rounded the corner, into the side street, as it barrelled past a parked car, it's size was evident. This beast was half as long as a car, but almost as high, it was no ordinary wolf.

Within the block, the beast was breathing down the blonde's neck. The sound of its claws digging into the cobblestones, behind her.

Alma continued to run, moving as quickly as she could, but the uneven cobblestones proved to be her downfall, when her foot caught and she tripped, letting out a shriek as she fell forward, collapsing onto the cobblestones with a thud. She scrapped her palms against the rough stone as she fell, drawing blood, and she was sure that that would be the end of her. Whatever this thing was, it would surely kill her now.

The wolf caught up to her, jumping onto her, and knocking her head against the cobbles. Unknown to her, a screaming conscience, had been struggling away inside the beast. Moments before the wolf was about to sink it's fangs into the exposed flesh of the small woman, the conscience won the battle.

The wolf picked up the unconscious form of the woman, and carried it off into the night.

The last thing she remembered was a flash of teeth and the growl of the wolf before she blacked out. She came to hours later, her eyes fluttering open with a small groan, her fingers moving to the bump on her forehead where her skull had met the cobblestone, looking at her bloody fingers when she pulled them away, her vision swimming.

The wolf had locked her in a cold stone room. It was barely furnished, a single chair, a mattress on the floor. The voice in the wolf's head, convincing it to spare her life.
The sound of the wolf's howl echoed through the forest again, much louder now. A hint of pain in the howl.

About an hour later a knock came on the wooden door of the room.

Alma looked around the room in confusion, taking in the details of her cell. She frowned, pushing herself up from the floor to move over to a window, standing on her toes to attempt to see outside, although she wasn't tall enough. With a sigh, she lowered herself carefully onto the mattress, tensing when she heard the howl in the distance, squeezing her eyes shut.

She had been dozing off to sleep when the knock on the door jolted her awake, her eyes snapping open as she looked at the door with wide and fearful eyes, afraid that it might be that creature. When she didn't hear any growling or other giveaways that it was the wolf, she reluctantly called out to whoever it was.

"H-Hello..?" she called.

Caleb had changed into a clean set of clothes, and made his way down to the cell. He heard the woman call through the door. "Hey, I was wondering if you wanted something to eat or anything," he called back.

He hated that she was trapped in the cell, but it was better than the alternative. His friend usually killed everyone he came into contact with.

She quickly stood when she heard the voice on the other side, hurrying toward the door, although it was then that she realized her ankle was twisted pretty badly, limping her way over until she was leaned against the door, trying to get it open with no luck.

"Please, please let me out. That.. That thing is going to come back and kill me, I just know it.. Please, before it comes back.." She begged, tears starting to well in her eyes. "I-I don't want to die in here.."

Caleb stepped back hearing her trying the door. "Please relax," he began. He sighed quietly, "The beast can't get you, when you're in that room, it can't make it through the bars," he added.

He wanted her to trust him, "I can't let you out, my master, would kill me," he said.

Alma frowned as she heard his words, her hope disappearing as she slowly sank to the floor, sitting back against the thick wooden door as she hugged her knees to her chest and began to sob weakly. "I-I didn't do anything wrong... Why am I here..?" She asked between sobs, her head and ankle throbbing painfully.

Caleb sighed hearing her sobbing, "I don't know, but please don't be upset, if you need anything please just ask," he said. He was quietly waiting by he door. He paused, "I think my master likes you," he finally said, "Or you would be dead already," he added.

"He hurt me, captured me, and locked me in a cell!" Alma frowned, fingers gingerly touching the wound on her forehead, wincing. "I'd rather die.." she sighed, slowly standing to move back over to the mattress, curling up on her side with her back facing the door.

Caleb frowned, he truely felt bad for her. But he needed to know she wasn't sick like his master. He sighed, "I'll come back later to check on you," he called before heading off to make some food, and find some better furniture for her.

Alma sobbed weakly once he'd left, and soon enough she wore herself out and fell asleep, shivering a little in the cold cell. She dreamed that she was back in the library, working on her research, when out of nowhere the monster came and tore out her throat. She sat up with a shriek at the terrifying nightmare, drenched in a cold sweat as her eyes quickly scanned the room, making sure that the beast wasn't there with her.

Caleb had made his way upstairs and was preparing some proper sheets for his new friend. He also managed to find a table, so she'd be able to sit and eat. His home, wasn't large, so he heard her shriek, and made his way down to the room. "Are you okay?" he called through the door.

Alma was struggling to catch her breath and calm down when Caleb called through the door, turning to look at it with wide eyes. Once she was sure that it wasn't the monster, she let out a shaky sigh. "I-I'm fine.... Bad dream..." She admitted softly, moving to lay back down on the old mattress.
