Consequences

Ella was a very sweet and thoughtful woman, she often did nice things for people even when they didn’t deserve it. She spent her free weekends volunteering at the animal shelter, that’s how she met ANDY. Ella was in the middle of getting someone adoption papers for a puppy when the handsome man came in.

Ella finished up with the couple and wished them luck and love on their new family member. She looked up and noticed the man staring at the dogs, she smiled and decided to walk over, “they’re all very friendly, very sweet too, you thinking about getting one?” She smiled politely watching the dogs bounce with excitement.

Andrew glanced down at the girl,a little startled as she approves him. "Apologies, I hadn't been paying attention. Too focused on these little guys" he said with a soft laugh, straightening up slightly and extending a hand to her. "I'm Andrew, Andrew Blake. I'm guessing you work here?" He asked her kindly, his gaze flitting between her and the puppies. She was young, not possibly older than 17 or 18- but she was beautiful. He shook the thought from his head slightly before nodding.

"Yeah I just moved to town, I was hoping to pick up a little guy to keep me company" he told her, bending down to pet on of the dogs through his pen. "I'm living in an apartment so nothing too big" he added "any ideas?"

Ella smiled brightly st the man, “no apologies needed I’d be in their trance too, quite adorable!” She walked over standing a little close “oh, it’s nice to meet you, I’m Ella Montgomery” she nodded “I volunteer so I don’t get paid but I love being around animals so.” She crosses her arms and looked between the puppies and Andrew.

“Oh! Welcome I hope you like it here, it’s nice around here.” She thought about it for a moment. “Hmmm... we don’t have many smaller dogs, we mostly have retrievers and German Shepards.”

Andrew smiled at her. "Volunteering, well done! We need more people like you. I used to do some volunterring- back when I was in college.. some time ago now" he joked softly before a frown came over his face when she said they only had larger dogs. "Oh, what a shame... I really don't think I could have a bigger breed in my apartment. Do you think if I left my number with you, you could give me a call if anything smaller gets brought in?" He asked sweetly, turning to face her completely. She was even prettier than he had first thought.

Ella’s smile grew wider as he complimented her, she bowed “why thank you, I love animals, hence why I’m here.” She nodded “oh? That’s cool, I’m actually going to vet school in the fall, I’m pretty excited actually. This volunteer thing is helping me a lot.” Ella looked at the number and back at Andrew “yeah I’ll call you when if we get more pups in, one who knows I might just send some selfies” she laughed.

Shaking her head “I’m sorry I’m a bit weird, I didn’t mean that, I won’t..ugh I’m a mess” she shook her head.

It made Andy happy to see how passionetely she was when talking about the animals. "Wow Vet school, that's a serious achievement, well done! So you're finishing out your senior year then?" He asked her kindly.

He couldn't help but laugh at how awkward she got, and gently exptended his arm giving her shoulder a little reassuring squeeze. "You're not a mess, I got the joke don't worry" he said calmly. "Although I would accept selfies fro myou any day" he added with a slight wink before before g to give the dogs one more Pat before he headed away. "I'll call back later in the week just to see if you have anything new!" He said.

Ella nodded, “thanks! It’s exciting to go to school for something I love, yes, I just turned 18 and I’m ready to fly!” She chuckled.

Ella blushed deeply, feeling like she made a fools out of herself, “all right I’ll be sure to give you updates.” And maybe some selfies, she thought. “Well, I hope you like it here,” she walked back to the desk to finish up some paper work before going home.

Andrew grinned at her, this girl was so full of life and he absolutely loved it, she was so unafraid to be herself too. "Well I'll see you around Ella, best of luck with everything" he told her as he left the shop and headed for his car, unable to get her out of his head.

He was looking forward to hearing from her, even if it was just to let him know what type of dogs they did and idnt have in the shelter.

Ella waved “it was nice meeting you Andrew!” She watched him leave and went back to work until the closed for the night. She said her good nights and headed home, thinking about this man. He was probably in his late twenties early thirties and here she was still in high school drooling over a man who was much older than her.

At home she finished up her homework and wondered what he was going she stared st the paper before deciding to send said selfie. this is me trying to be a model and failing hard ha. she sent it before regret would hit her.

Andy was sat at home, grading some of the English papers he had been given today when. He heard his phone buzz and simply ignored it, assuming it to be his mother checking in on him yet again. About an hour later he remembered the notification and picked his phone off of the coffee table, his eyes furrowing when he saw it was an unknown number.

As soon as he opened the picture his breath caught in his throat. This photo that Ella had sent him was stunning.. but something about it felt wrong.

I think you look amazing... Maybe it needs more puppies ;) he sent back, running a hand through his hair.

Ella laughed shaking her head reading the message, biting her lip she wondered if this was a good idea. She thought about it for a moment, what are you saying? Less me and more puppies? Ouch right st my self esteem lol. Kidding! Okay I do have one with my pup.

Ella sent another picture. that is me and my baby Jesse isn’t he adorable?

Chris let out a little sigh, wondering if this was alright. He knew she was 18, but she was still a student. He assumed not at his school seen as he had never seen her before, but he also had only been there less than a week. He cleared his throat looking over the next photo with a smile.

Ella let out a giggle, she knew she just met him but Ella couldn’t help herself, she found him attractive: he must be a good guy, she hoped so anyway, Ella laid down in her bed and stared at the ceiling knowing she couldn’t get attached to him, for all she knew he could be her teacher.

“What the hell?” She mumbled to herself. why thank you. Also, like what kind of dog breed are you searching for ?”

Andy found himself smiling when he heard his phone buzz and tried to shake himself out of it, putting the phone back down and telling himself not to reply for a while. This girl was 10 years younger than him and he shouldn't be messing her around.

After a half hour or so he found himself giving in.

Anything smaller than a collie, although I'm partial to anything crossed with a corgi or french bulldog he replied, before lying back in bed with a sigh... What was he playing at?

Ella bit her lip thinking about this handsome man, she wanted to see him again. For all she knew he could be her teacher, but she hasn’t seen any new teachers... in her grade anyway.

you know I think we just got a French bulldog l, someone decided they didn’t want him. That really hurts and annoys me. When people abandon their pets ugh. You can come by tomorrow and check him out if you want...

Andy tried to ignore his phone buzzing as long as he could yet again before he messaged her back.

oh wow that's great, I'll pop in after work tomorrow for sure! he sent back, a wide smile on his face. He was kind of looking forward to seeing her again but he didn't really want to af.it that to himself

Ella smiled wide and quickly messaged him, letting him know what time she would be there. She decided to get ready for bed, Ella couldn’t wait to see the handsome man again: curling up in bed with her dog, she kissed his ear. “You have no idea how many brownie points you got me” she giggled, closing her eyes.

The next day was a Saturday so Ella has made sure to get dressed and leave early for the shelter. She made sure to text Andy, good morning! I am here if you want to come over and see him, I guess you could come any time not just when I’m around lol.

When Andy woke up he showered and got dressed, excited to see the pretty girl from yesterday again, but he had a bunch of stuff to get done first. He ran some errands and also graded some more papers and once it got to about 2 pm he decided to head back down to the shelter.

He walked in, looking around at all the dogs, giving a few of of them a pet as he waited for Ella to be free at the counter.

Ella hummed softly as she scribbled down some information, she had been thinking about Andy all day. Her head on cloud nine but she shouldn’t be thinking that way. After a few more people checked out she noticed a tall handsome man walk in. She bit her lip.

“Oh hi there! Welcome back!” She smiled, trying not to sound to excited.
