“Ohh he’s handsome,” Madeleine gushed over the phone to her friend. “To bad you guys don’t wanna be set up. You’d look good together,” she said with a smile, “but I promise I’m not trying to push you. I’m just observing,” she said wanting her friend to find love and happiness. But she didn’t want to push Annie into anything she wasn’t ready for because that simply wasn’t fair to her. “Of course! I’m always happy to have you! For as long as you want!” She said with a bright smile. It had honestly been so long since they’d visited with one another that time spent with her best friend even on a whim would be more precious than anything to her.

Maddie smiled simply at the thought of this man she hardly knew, clearly this all meant something. “His name is James. But I think he prefers to go by his nickname Bucky. Not sure where it came from but I’m sure if we decide to get to know one another that I’ll figured it out,” she said shrugging her shoulders slightly. “So Captain America huh? Is he nice? I’ve heard a lot of things about him. I mean a lot of people over here really respect him. Of course there are some skepticism after the recent going ons that happened. But you know me I prefer to get to know people for myself before writing them off, entirely. At least if it’s an option,” she said knowing in a situation like this she would like to know the man before simply agreeing with people.
Steve felt himself blush a little again when he noticed her point the phone in his and Sams direction, followed by a soft squeal which he assumed wasn’t from Annie. “I think that was a good sound but I’m honestly not sure,” he said to Sam shrugging his shoulders. Steve would be the first to tell you that he truly didn’t understand women at all. And he knew that Sam knew both of the women talking to one another so he would hopefully know.

Steve turned to Sam at the mention of Bucky and sighed softly. “He did. I mean we knew each other way before the war or I was Captain America. We always had each other’s backs, he was always trying to set me up with some dame. He was my best friend. And then I let him down. And I thought he’d died a long time ago when he fell off a train. But clearly I was wrong. And I kind of hate that I didn’t look for him. That I didn’t save him like he’d saved me so many time before,” Steve knew it wasn’t his fault the things that had happened to Bucky, but he couldn’t help but blame himself either way,

Annie grinned, “it’s a shame that he’s not interested though, because to be quite honest, I’d go on a date with him. I’m not going to push my luck though.” She really would have though, Steve Rogers was what every woman wanted in a man and sure he was like 100 something years old and had a busy and dangerous lifestyle but other than that was perfect. It’s too bad... she shook her thoughts away before returning her attention to Maddie. “Great because I’m looking at my schedule..” she had pulled out her planner, noticing some empty dates and jotting down things “I’m free starting this Friday I can easily pack up and just fly out. Also bring you some of my baked goods.” Annie sighed happily. Nothing like your best girl friend to make you squeal with delight. She probably had some strange looks but Annie learned not to care what people thought but also being herself l.

Sam looked over and chuckled, “that’s a happy squeal that means something good is happening or is going to happen,” he chuckled. “Annie doesn’t do that unless Maddie is involved, I think she may be planning on seeing her soon.” Sam parred Steve “women can be complicated but they can very endearing and loving. Just depends who you talk to.” Sam listened to Steve talk about Bucky, “we’ll find them, he’s more than likely not on this continent that’s all we know.” He stood up, and looked At Annie “you not gonna let me say hi to Maddie that’s real mean of you Ann!” He teased.
Flipping through articles and news papers Bucky couldn’t help but feel stressed out. People were desperate to find him and he had to work in being more low profile than he already Was, he groaned as he lied in his sort of bed. It was times like this he wished he had his punk friend here he’d know what to do? Or would he? And why was he thinking so much about Steve anyway? Bucky didn’t know I’d he was the same person anymore, it seemed like but Bucky changed a lot over the last seventh years so he was sure Steve has too. “

Bucky turned off the lights and stared out the window smiling softly, this Maddie was someone special. He would worry about how he was going to explain all this HYDRA mess and arm when he was ready. Well, he’s have to do it eventually, kind of difficult to avoid his metal arm. He wasn’t even sure I’d Maddie would stick around d and maybe he shouldn’t risk it, but something told him this girl was it. Something in Bucky’s gut told him to take a chance.

“Okay well how do you know he isn’t interested? Just because you both walked in not wanting to be set up by Sam doesn’t mean anything other than you didn’t want to be set up. But I bet given the chance he’d totally be into you. He’d be stupid not to though,” Maddie said knowing hands down that her best friend was a catch and any guy lucky enough to get her attention had better take the chance while they could. “Sounds good to me. I’ll put it on my calendar then and it’ll be a date! Now is that Sam I hear in the background?” She asked figuring she could at least tell him hello. They were friends too after all.

“Hey there handsome,” Maddie said winking at Sam. Honestly Maddie had totally had a thing for him back when they were younger, of course she grew out of it and even if she hadn’t things wouldn’t have worked with them, though the two were notorious for harmlessly flirting back and forth, even now. But who else to harmlessly flirt with than one of your best friends? “I heard you were running with Captain America now,”
Steve didn’t mind suddenly being left out of the conversation, he knew the three of them were all friends way before he stepped into the picture. But it did make him long for days like that again. He missed it really, he missed having friends that he could just grab a beer with and relax. Not that he’d even done that much back in the day but he knew he could’ve. He really did appreciate everything Sam was doing for him though.

And he knew his friend was right. The likelihood of them finding Bucky anywhere in America was slim to none. Which thinking about that got Steve to thinking that maybe he should go to Europe, it wasn’t like he had anything going on right now. Plus by the look of things he wasn’t going to have anything to do for a while thanks to the accords. And maybe he could just take some time to explore Europe for bit before the accords signing coming up anyway. He’d never really been for personal reasons and he wasn’t getting any younger. He’d only ever been because he was fighting in a war.

Annie laughed shaking her head, “I mean I don’t know but come on you expect a man as busy as him to have time to date? I mean he said do himself.” She shook her head. Annie smiled, “thanks Maddie, for always believing in me and having my back.” She smiled,”awesome I’ll buy tickets as soon as possible, I’m so excited to see your gorgeous face!” She grinned from ear to ear. Sam popped up behind Annie, “oh hey there Maddie! I see you’re still as gorgeous as ever” he winked. “Annie could use some help in that department,” he smirked. Annie glared and shoved Sam off her “rude Samuel” she shook her head: Annie knew he was just messing around he had a thing for Maddie way back when.

Annie looked at Steve “see this is why he’s single, he just basically called me ugly. He’s mean!” Sam rolled his eyes “and you’re s drama queen, don’t listen to her Steve she loves attention” he laughed. Annie shook her head, “I will never make for you ever again.” Annie smiled at Maddie, “I will come to you as soon as I can, without Wilson.”
Bucky tried to sleep he really did but he was having nightmares again, he tossed and he turned but sleep never came. He sat up in s cold sweat and sighed; he thought they had stopped. Getting up he washed his face and sighed. Bucky grabbed a hat and decided maybe a walk would do him some good. It was late no one would be out here, st least he hoped not.

So many things were running trough his mind, mostly Maddie though, who would have thought he would have this strange feeling with her. It was strange for him, he didn’t usually get swept up like this not even in the 40s. If Steve could see Bucky now he’d probably tease him about all this.

“Stop making me blush Sam or I might get a little upset that I’m not there with you guys,” Maddie joked with a pout. She truly did value her friendship with the two of them. “Why don’t you and Steve tag along with Annie?” She asked Sam wondering if she could get lucky enough to have them both over at the same time. “I mean as long as Annie is okay sharing me of course. I have plenty of room here in Vienna and it’s super gorgeous so I’m sure you guys wouldn’t regret it! Plus I miss you a lot too!” She said smiling at them both. Maddie has always been really good about sharing her time with them both. And just because sometimes they all needed each other and other times her and Annie needed girl time. Which if Steve came along with them all they could have dude time while she and Annie did girl time.

“Also I feel like if you’re going to try and set our best friend up with someone I should meet him,” Maddie told him matter of factly. “I do need to get off of here though, because if I’m going to have people over well I need to get a few things now while I have a chance so I’m not scrambling like a mad woman the day you all arrive,” she said figuring that it wasn’t to late to go out and get a few things. Because luckily there were a few places in Vienna that stayed open later through the week, but that wasn’t a normal thing in Europe. And what made it even better was she felt comfortable enough to walk to where she needed to go.
Steve smiled the group in front of him before deciding to just join their conversation. After all, he wasn’t ever going to get better at making friends if he never just talked to new people. And he felt like he was joining at the perfect time because he heard Maddie invite both him and Sam to stay with her in Vienna. That brought a smile to his face for sure, though it was a little interesting that of all the places in Europe she could live it happened to be the same place as the accords. He was sure that Nat would think this was funny.

“You would let a total stranger come into your home for who knows how long?” Steve asked just wondering if she realize what she was asking actually.

Maddie smiled at Steve and nodded her head. “Well from what I’ve heard from Sam you’re pretty trustworthy. And I trust Sam with my life so I don’t see how many harm could come from it. Plus I mean we just met so we’re not total strangers anymore,” she said knowing that some people saw her act like this and felt like she was very naive or to trusting, but to Maddie this was normal. And she wasn’t stupid, because she knew when things felt bad or dangerous to figure a way out. But this was Captain America. How dangerous could having him in her home be?

Annie shook her head, “okay, but none is going to argue with Sam.. okay never mind.” Annie watched as Maddie invited Sam and Steve and while that was nice and all, Annie wanted to spend time alone with her. Which probably wouldn’t happen now because of the group. Annie didn’t say anything though, she didn’t want to come off as bitchy. Annie didn’t like to talk about her certain insecurities, actually she never did tell either of them about them, she was so good at putting up a front. “I guess not, I’m used sharing everything with Wilson.” Sam shoved her playfully “not true.” Annie shook her head. Annie looked over at Steve and Sam, then back at her friend “okay, just let us know, we will keep in touch.”

Sam grinned, “see, okay but Maddie is funny you’ll like her” he told Steve. He looked back at the Maddie, “:see you soon Maddie don’t stop being so pretty!” Annie said her goodbye before pressing the end call. Sam smiled “this has been an interesting day, guess we will be tagging along.” Annie stood up, “i have to go, business waifs for no one.” She looked at Steve “it was nice meeting you,” she quickly gather her brownies. Sam looked at his friend, “hey so let us now when you’re getting those tickets so we can get them too.” He told her. Annie nodded, “yeah. Okay. Well I gotta go.” She grabbed her bag and left.
Bucky thought it was a nice night to be walking and he realized how different Europe was compared to the stated. They didn’t have stores opened 24 hours and closing was six in the afternoon. It was nice actually people weren’t as uptight and were more relaxed at least that’s what he’s noticed. There are a couple opened stores but that usually meant they had been a busy day and were cleaning up.

Bucky walked by where Maddie’s stand was and smiling still picturing her, he tried to think other things but they came back to Maddie. He was so drawn to her it was driving him crazy, because this was nothing he was used to. Bucky yawned softly as he walked , enjoying the cool breeze, the stars were bright and the moon was full. This would be perfect for a date. He felt too unstable for dating though, and who would want to? Bucky has a lot of baggage and not to mentioned he was being hunted down.

I really can't wait for you to get here! And I know inviting Sam and Steve last minute was kind of out of the blue, so I hope you really don't mind! Also, I promise on our friendship that we will spend some alone time together! Because don't tell Sam but you're my favorite! Madeleine texted Annie right before she walked out her door into the cool night air. Maddie knew she was pressed for time currently as the only places still open currently would be closing within the next hour or so, but this really was the only open window of time she had to stock up on the items she needed before she had visitors over. Luckily though she knew she'd at least have a chance in the next few days to stock up on things sold in the market, simply because that's where she spent all of her days and it was rather easy for her to slip away from her stand for a few moments throughout the day and shop around.

As she walked down the streets towards the only open store she knew of she couldn't help but be amazed even now at how much different this was than it was in America. For starters, she never would've walked anywhere alone this late at night. The air wouldn't feel as fresh and crisp, she was also sure that she wouldn't have seen so many adorable couples just slowly making their way down streets together as if they were on dates. Because people in America never really took the time to slow down and enjoy the little things in life. Everyone was always in some rush to the next thing they had to do. And they were always working themselves to death pretty much as if it were the worst thing in the world to take time for themselves to relax and wind down. This was why she liked it so much, everything felt better. Maddie couldn't help but let her eyes wander the streets as she walked and she was pretty sure she spotted Bucky from earlier. What a coincidence he was out here too this late. "Bucky?" She called as she quickly found herself crossing the street hoping it was him now and not someone totally different who she would probably be freaking out at this point.
"She's okay with us tagging along right?" Steve asked Sam shortly after Annie had left, and he only asked because he felt like he'd seen a shift in her demeanor and he wasn't sure why. He did know though that he didn't want to step on any toes or intrude somewhere he shouldn't. And if Annie had wanted to go see her friend without them he wouldn't be upset even in the slightest. Though Steve was kind of excited about the whole thing. Even though he didn't know Maddie the thought of simply going to Europe just to go was kind of exciting to him. He'd only been to Germany and that was so he could help take down Nazis back in the 40s so he was sure that it was much different now than it was back then. But the thought of seeing other places was also nice because even with all the life he'd lived he felt like he'd hardly seen any of the world.

Steve bit his lip and looked at his friend. "Also I hope no one expects me to go to the accords signing even though we'll be in Vienna," he said mostly meaning Nat. He knew how much everything meant to her and how she felt like he should be there. But Steve really couldn't bring himself to that. He didn't agree with it at all, and he felt like being there was just saying that he did without signing the paper. So hopefully he could avoid that at all costs.

Bucky sighed softly it was weird being out here it wasn’t noisy like Brooklyn this definitely not New York. It was much more peaceful and less violent and he liked that about Vienna it was nice and cozy. He liked being here and hoped to stay as long as he could. Bucky wasn’t usually so relax he was always watching his back, he guessed paranoia comes with being a fugitive. His hands in pockets as he continued to walk along the sidewalk, people also didn’t drive like lunatics here. So many differences but he seemed to miss Brooklyn well, 1940s Brooklyn, or maybe he just missed Steve. Bucky wasn’t sure anymore.

As he continued to walk he heard a voice call out to him and he stopped dead on his tracks. Turned around and noticed the same woman from earlier Maddie, he smiled widely. This was strange. Bucky get excited about a woman? Well it would have been normal in his earlier days but now not so much. He turned his attention watching the young woman cross the street, “hey!” He smiled walking towards her. “What s coincidence running into you this late out.”
Sam has noticed Annie’s reaction, she wasn’t usually like that but he didn’t talk to her like he used to. Being sidekick to Captain America tends to eat up your free time. “I hope so; I want to see Maddie too, I’m sure she’s fine with it, but I’ll ask her about it.” He was quick to message her but didn’t get a response, this made him wonder. “She did say she was going to the bakery so she’s probably busy with that. Owning your own business keeps you busy.. which is another reason why I never see her. She’s like Frankenstein but with desserts.” He laughed. He really hoped she was okay, he knew she was easy going but when she was mad or someone annoyed her she could stay mad for days. “Hey listen man, I have your back whatever happens with the accords I got you.”

Annie made her way to her bakery when her phone buzzed, she would get to it when she was at her store. She was pretty annoyed, actually walking into the bakery that Maddie never got to see. Watching her employees Annie day her binder down in the back. Pulling out her phone she sighed, she had two messages. She didn’t bother answering, maybe later. She pulled up her sleeves and got ready to experiment some more on her new creation. She took a seat in her office and found herself in messaging her back. Where would she find the time to be alone with her? Maddie was a pretty popular girl, everyone liked her. Not that Annie was jealous of Maddie she was more jealous of the people that would spend time with her. yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, I have a lot of paper work to get through, so I’ll message you when we get the tickets.

Madeleine smiled at the man in front of her feeling exactly what he'd said. There really was no explanation for them bumping into one another twice in one day, well other than maybe fate. Even this late though Maddie could see distress in his eyes. She had no idea what could be bothering him, or if she should ask because for all she knew it could be a touchy subject that he didn't want to talk about, especially to some girl he didn't know. But for some reason, everything in Maddie's gut was telling her to literally jump all in with both feet. As if this were the man she should take all the risks for. "Are you okay?" She asked him tucking her hair behind her ear, "I know this is forward and maybe a little weird, but if you ever want to talk I just live right over there in that house on the corner and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be spending a lot of time there when I'm not at the market," She told him given she still didn't know anyone other than him in the city so it wasn't like she had people to go out with. And it was no fun going out alone.

She was sure that Bucky had been through a lot in his lifetime, she could tell simply because of how sad he looked when she'd met him earlier and now how distressed he looked. And maybe he had a lot of baggage but didn't they all. This was one of those situations where she felt she had to get to know Bucky before she could determine anything about him really. So she hoped that he would actually let her get to know him. Because she didn't want to be pushy and make anyone uncomfortable or do things they didn't want to do.
Steve placed his hand on Sam's shoulder and smiled, "thanks man I know I can always count on you," he said truly thankful that he had a friend like Sam. It wasn't Bucky but it was something very similar in a time when Steve needed that most and he didn't think he would ever be able to put into words how much that meant to him. "Well, I guess we should get to planning this trip. Because you know I've never been to Europe just for the hell of it, and if I'm being honest there's a lot of things I would like to see," he said planning to make an actual trip out of it. Sure they were going and staying with someone that Sam knew, and Steve did want to get to know the girl as well, but he didn't want to spend all of his time with her. He felt like Annie and Maddie should totally have plenty of alone time together, which he didn't mind at all.

Really he knew that giving the girls alone time together would give him and Sam plenty of time to not only see a few sights that he wanted to see, but it would also give them time to maybe try and look for Bucky some as well. Not that he wanted to spend an entire trip hunting for a man Steve knew didn't want to be found, but that didn't mean Steve wasn't going to give it a try at the very least. And who knew, maybe they'd stop by the accords just to see how things were going, or maybe he would avoid it like the black plague. He wasn't sure yet what was going to happen with that.

Bucky thought it was really odd how he ran into Maddie again, not that he minded. She was the first person he’s talked to so comfortably, it was nice. Bucky see the genuine concern in Maddie’s eyes as she asked him if he was okay. He must have looked worried or stressed and he was but he didn’t think people would notice or care enough to ask. “Oh? Yes ash. Just have a lot on my mind. Missing people from back home in Brooklyn lost family friends..” he spoke softly. He wasn’t sure why he was even telling her things but something in his gut told him to trust her, this woman was going to change his life. He rubbed the back of his neck “thank you for asking, I haven’t met anyone who is so concerned about a stranger and I appreciate it.”

Bucky rubbed his hands nervously, “so where you headed somewhere this late?” He would be more worried if she was walking alone in New York or anywhere in the United States. His hands in his pockets, “do you mind if I join you? I was just walking around couldn’t get myself to sleep” he chuckled softly. Maddie sure made Bucky feel at ease.
Sam smiled, it felt nice having like Steve give him validation not that he needed it. It was nice being appreciated. He chuckled, “yeah, man, you need to take a vacation once in awhile you work too much.” Sam looked at his phone still no response. He was tempted to call Annie see what was going on he knew she was a little upset. “Well, hey if you decide that You like Maddie that’s cool too” he laughed. “Annie can be a little ... difficult” he said slowly. “Again not trying to set you up. Just saying” Sam smirked.

Sam didn’t want to impose on their time together but Annie and Maddie were a couple of his close friends m. So he wanted to spend time with both, he looked at the time still thinking about this trip. “All right lets go.” Sam walked with Steve “you know ever since we were kids, Annie liked baking and hitting boys” he laughed.

"We all need someone to care about us," Madeleine told him with a soft smile. She didn't know why she felt so connected to a man she really didn't know but she did and so, of course, she was going to be concerned for him. Some would possibly call her caring personality a flaw, but she liked to think of it as a strength. "Oh, I was just running out to get a few things before my friends come into town next week but that can wait," she said knowing that she did need to go to the store and she didn't have time built into her schedule however she could surely find time throughout the week. Because Bucky needed someone to help clear his mind and that just seemed more important than running around at 10 PM buying things.

"I'm happy to join you for a walk through, or actually I have a really good recipe for a cup of detox tea," she told him remembering all the nights she'd had to take it herself to help clear her mind so she could finally rest. Sometimes there were things that happened in a persons life that simply haunted them, and it was a hard thing to deal with, especially alone. "And believe me it works miracles, I use to drink a cup a day it feels like to help with my nightmares. It always did too, help I mean," she said knowing that wasn't the only thing she'd tried, but it was one of the successful things she'd tried. Tea and her weighted blanket always seemed to be what she needed on a bad day.
"Even if I did like Maddie how could you be sure it would even work? I mean she lives in Europe and for all either of us know she's already seeing someone, and I'm not a homewrecker," Steve said knowing that wasn't what Sam was getting at, but it didn't make sense for him to even give that a shot because there just seemed like so many things already standing in the way there. Plus he didn't plan on telling Sam this, at least not yet, but Steve did kind of like Annie. He wasn't sure what it even meant to like her, but he knew that he'd enjoyed the short amount of time he'd spent with her. Things had felt very comfortable and natural with her which wasn't something that happened with him a lot. Plus she really had reminded him so much of Peggy that he couldn't help but want to know Annie more.

Maybe it was weird to choose to date someone because they reminded you of your first love. But in his case, he felt like it wasn't as weird as it could've been. After all, he and Peggy had never truly stood a chance, clearly because here he was and he knew she was coming close to the end of her life. And Steve would never openly compare Annie or any other woman to Peggy exactly because he never wanted to replace Peggy. She'd been someone very special to him, and he knew that no one was ever going to be just like her in every way, it would be a little weird if that happened. However, this did feel like a nudge in the direction of moving on. It was time for him to leave the past with Peggy in the past, and maybe actually try to enjoy his future with someone.

Bucky looked over at Maddie with a gentle smile,”yeah we do, I just I haven’t talked to anyone in years, so I hope I’m not imposing on you.” He has to tell her about his arm, If he wanted to be friends he would have to show her his arm and then explain that. Would Bucky do it though? I’d he told her about everything that happened to him would Maddie believe him? Would she turn him in? Would she be afraid of him? He didn’t want to find out but Bucky knew he couldn’t possibly cover his whole arm forever. He was struggling I’d he really wanted to be so open with someone he just met earlier that day. “Hey you can go shopping for best you need and I’ll just tag along, I don’t want to disrupt your shopping..” he chuckled.

Bucky looked into her very caring eyes and smiled “tea sounds really nice actually, I would like to try some of that.. maybe we can go get some? That’s if anything is open?” Bucky had gotten used to everything closing so early, but still found it strange. He has seen what Brooklyn and the rest of America has become. They seem to live in a rush never taking a break, another reason why he enjoyed being in Vienna everyone was so care free. Bucky bit his lip, he was going to take a leap of faith, “I’m glad I ran into you, you’ve left quite the impression on me and I hope I don’t scare you with that. I just never met someone so genuine and caring.”
Sam stares at his friends putting his hands up in defense “I didn’t mean anything by that I was just being a goofball. I know you’re not a home wrecker..” they had walked back to where they were staying and packed, “I’m not pushing anyone on you sorry if it seemed that way. I shouldn’t even tried.” He did feel bad for even trying to set him up especially with Annie, she had so much baggage. Sam just wanted her to get out for a day or so all she did was work and never even went out with friends.

Sam messages Annie again to see if she had found anything about the flight to Vienna. No response it was getting later in the afternoon and he just thought it was weird. She usually messaged him quite frequently during the day. He sighed,

"You're not imposing at all," Madeleine told him honestly happy to spend more time with him. She wasn't going to get to know him any other way. "And my shopping really can wait. I was just going to get it done now so I didn't have to do it later but I can do it later," she told him not wanting to put off something like this that was probably much more important than going out to be frivolous with her money. "Well come with me then," Maddie said reaching out to grab his hand paying no attention to the fact that didn't feel like a normal hand. It wasn't important what his hand felt like through a glove, or if there was a real hand or a fake one under the fabric. What mattered was making him feel more comfortable hopefully enough to help him get some rest.

She smiled back at him as she led him into her house, "I'm sorry people haven't been kinder to you," she told him tucking her hair behind her ear. "I mean if I'm the most genuine and caring person you've met I can only begin to imagine the people you've had to deal with," she added before she walked into her kitchen to get what she needed for her the tea. "Well make yourself comfortable and I'll get this tea started," she told him really hoping she was able to help him through whatever was keeping him up at night.
"I know that's not what you were implying," Steve said rubbing his neck awkwardly. "And it really is fine. I mean I really appreciate you trying to set me up even when I say no. Because I do think today was what I needed, it was insightful, to say the least. I mean I've been holding on to the past for so long that I think I was holding myself back a little. And I wouldn't have figured that out about myself had you not invited your friend along," he said shrugging his shoulders.

Steve didn't think he was ready to jump right into dating anyone yet, but he did feel like he was ready to start taking steps towards getting back out there. Maybe he could start with just talking about women that he found attractive or qualities that he liked. Really he didn't know where to start, and maybe dating was the next option. Either way, Steve was ready to actually move on and see what the future held for him rather than sit back and continue to watch everyone else live these happy lives while he just sulked around like a baby.

Bucky smiled softly as he watched Maddie she was just so care free and happy. Something he was not accustomed to seeing in people, she was special that he was very well aware of. He was taken by surprise when she took hold of his left hand. Bucky for sure thought she’d noticed the different feel to it even with the glove on. His hand was heavier and hard, but she hasn’t said anything. Bucky was just caught off guard by her taking his hand her hand was soft though, and even though he had a metal hand he could still feel and touch things. He chuckled following then tiny brunette into her nice home. It was very inviting as soon as he stepped through. Just like Maddie her home was warm, he smiled looking around. “You have a very nice home,”

Bucky took a sir on her sofa and looked up when she spoke again, “oh, yeah, I’ve been through some... Heavy stuff. I’m not sure if you’d want to hear it.” He swallowed as he spoke. Bucky wanted to be honest with her but didn’t want to scare her with his history. Something though, told him that she wasn’t like most people and he could trust her. He looked around “so is this your sister?” He asked picking up a picture frame with her and another young woman. They reminded him of Steve and himself when they were younger and saw happier days. Bucky could tell by the picture Maddie was close to this young woman.
Sam nodded, “I didn’t want to become Natasha but I guess I kinda did” he laughed. Sam watched his friend, “it’s hard letting the past go, it’s what you’re so used to and have known for so long. I get it.” He knew Annie was still holding onto her last and no matter how much Sam has told her to move on, she didn’t. He guess trying to push her into dating was awful of him to do and maybe that’s why she was upset. Sam smiled, “glad I could help someone out, and we don’t have to go out like this, next time I can just invite my guy buddies.. they’re also huge fans” Sam chuckled.

Annie finally found the time to read her messages who she had quite a few from Sam. She told him to book them for this upcoming Saturday morning at six. He read the message, “seems s little early for a flight but okay. Time difference I guess, six on Saturday.l” Sam told Steve. That’s all she sent him before going home to a bubble bath.

"Thank you," Madeleine said as she went to pull out two teacups while her water boiled. "Technically no she's not my sister, but we've known each other long enough to consider each other sisters," she told him excited that soon Annie would be visiting with her and she'd be seeing her friend face to face again after two whole years. "Now do you take milk or sugar in your tea?" She asked him wanting to make sure that he was going to at least enjoy the tea she was making them. "I have no doubts that you've walked through some rather heavy crap, but I would like to hear about it if you're willing to share with me," she told him just so desperately wanting to help this man. And she could only help him or at least try to if she knew what he needed help with.

But she also totally understood if he didn't want to share with her. After all, they had only just met and it was a lot fo share things you've walked through with someone you barely know. There wasn't really a trust that had been built there so being vulnerable with someone where there's not a trust built wasn't a very common thing. However, Madeleine had a gut feeling that she could trust him so maybe he felt the same way. Though she'd admit this whole thing was bit different. It wasn't a normal occurrence to just meet someone on the street and feel the things she was feeling. Feelings were supposed to take time to develop and people were supposed to get to know one another well before they fell in love. But things were simply different with Bucky than with other people. And maybe Annie had been right, maybe even though she'd always thought it was a silly concept this was love at first sight.
Steve laughed and shook his head at Sam. "Do you have any friends who aren't big fans?" He asked just wondering if this was actually his life now. People were just going to recognize him on the streets and ask for autographs or pictures. He wasn't going to be able to go anywhere looking like himself if he wanted to be alone because everyone knew who he was now. People had seen him and were so amazed that he was Captain America, and it was such an honor to meet him in person. He did appreciate all the support people gave him, it always reminded him that the sacrifices he'd made for his country were worth it. But sometimes he did want to feel like a normal person and just walk down the streets and not have people recognize him.

"Well then I guess we should start planning and packing then," he said running his hand through his hair. That was a rather early flight and Saturday wasn't far off which didn't give them much time to plan or pack. So they did need to get a move on. "Do we know how long we're going to stay?" He asked just wondering if that had been decided or if it was just kind of up to them to decide. He didn't mind either way, because he literally had nothing else going on so his schedule was entirely up to himself really. He if he did go and decided he didn't want to come back well no one could force him to because it wasn't like he had anything holding him here as far as a job went.

Bucky took a good look at the picture “I was going to say, you look much younger in this picture.” He looked up when Maddie asked him a question about tea. “Either is fine, but I guess sugar” he chuckled. Bucky was really thinking about just telling her everything, what could he possibly lose? His freedom? Bucky our the picture down and sighed, “I don’t know where to start, well, I guess from the beginning. I don’t know if you’ve noticed my arm I guess not because you haven’t said anything..” Bucky stood up and remixed his jacket and globe carefully. He wondered with curiosity and fear how she’d react. He was so used to people fearing him, Bucky has never told anyone any of this, or was very much personal. Then again he didn’t go around talking to people.

Bucky took a good look at his hand and watched Maddie's face as he showed his arm. She didn’t seem scared or startled just curiosity which was strange Bucky. “Well, this is going to be a long story..” he began. “I Was a soldier in the US army in 1945, I was captured by nazi scientists who experimented on me and turned me into ..” he couldn’t finish that statement without thinking about all the bloodshed. “A monster. I was brain washed into being a fist of a nazi organization.. “ he stopped. Bucky was regretting this he just kept silent for awhile. “I’m sorry, I’ll understand if you want to kick me out.”
Sam thought about it for a moment “I don’t actually. I make an effort not to associate with people who don’t like you” he laughed. Sam continued packing and text messages Annie asking how long they’d stay on Vienna “well, she’s staying a week she said we could do whatever we want.”! Sam knew something was up. “A week is good, we can see the city and enjoys the people.”

Annie was quick to message Sam then Maddie, leaving Saturday at six it’s about a 15 hour flight . I’ll see you then.

Sam thought for a moment “I hope this enough to last me the week,, she said it’s like a 15 hour flight so I guess we better bring entertainment, or you can watch me bicker with her , over something trivial.”

Madeleine fixed their tea then walked out of the kitchen so she could give Bucky her full attention. She sat his cup in front of him and listened to him speak. First he took off his jacket and glove revealing a metal arm which explained why his hand had felt the way it had when she’d grabbed it earlier. And as he spoke and told her about what happened she couldn’t help but feel heartbroken for him. Maddie had heard about this man, if she was correct in the assumption that he was often referred to as the winter soldier. She’d always believed he was a myth made up by the government to somehow be more cautious. Which maybe that didn’t even make sense, but she had always found it hard to believe people could create someone like that. And she only knew so much about him at this point because her ex boyfriend had been researching him for his job or something weird and she’d just kind of peeked at his research a few times. But here he actually was right in front of her. Not a myth.

Maddie slowly walked over to Bucky planning to be very cautious just in case things went south. She hoped from the feeling she had in her gut this wouldn’t end bad, but you could never be totally sure. “I noticed,” she said softly before looking from his arm to his face. “But I wasn’t going to mention it unless you brought it up, so these nazi scientists gave you a metal arm which in turn was used to help you kill thousands of people?” She asked even though she knew that’s what he’d said. “I’m sorry,” she said softly as she slowly took his hands on her own. “I’ve never understood how people can be so cruel to each other. I mean you didn’t deserve this I’m sure, you didn’t choose this, and yet they clearly didn’t care what it would do to you and did it anyway,” she said sighing and shaking her head. “You don’t have to leave, and you have nothing to be sorry for. Because you haven’t done anything wrong,”
Steve rolled his eyes at Sam and shook his head. “You know that’d be nice?” He joked. He didn’t mind that all of Sams friends were huge fans, it really was nice to feel appreciated and Steve felt like thanks to everything that had happened over the last few years with The Avengers it was going to be hard to find people who didn’t know who he was. And honestly right now he didn’t know if there were more people who liked him or didn’t. After all, The Avengers were in a weird spot currently. They were all all over the place just kind of called in when things got extra bad, but at this point most people knew he’d worked for SHIELD as well and that in the last year he’d helped take it down thanks to the fact that it had become compromised.

“I mean we don’t have to pack super heavy, I mean if we need things while we’re there I’m sure we can stop at a store or something,” he said wanting to pack light, partly because he didn’t even know what to take really. “I think this should be a good amount,” he said shrugging. “I’m not really sure how travel works now but surely with all the other things that have changed the plane will have things to keep us entertained for that long of a flight.” He said not sure what to expect honestly.

Bucky had spend most of his life as this soldier, a myth, a monster, the first of HYDRA. He wasn’t sure I’d people would ever not be afraid. He looked at Maddie who had a very concern look on her face. She wasn’t afraid of him though even after everything he just said, being completely honest with her about his past. “He tried to help me but I still fell From the train and I can’t image what Steve must have felt. I failed him. I became what he feared.” He spoke softly. Bucky looked st Maddie “people can be down right awful,” he agreed. “Well,a couple years ago, I was sent to kill Nick Fury and when that didn’t work, Captain America himself found out who I was and he couldn’t stop. He wouldn’t stop, Steve’s always been so damn stubborn” he shook his head. “My best friend, shocked, hurt and scared. I almost killed him, but he never gave up on me. I guess he hasn’t changed.” Bucky finished explaining his whole backstory to her.

He sighed, “I knew his friends and the government would accept me so I ran and ran until I found myself here. I don’t want to cause a rift between Steve and his Avenging friends so I left. Not before going to do read more about me, at the time my brain was scattered, being brainwashed does that to you. Here I am two years later in hiding and always having to look over my shoulder. “ he took her hands and gave them a gentle squeeze. “Thank you for listening and for not running away. You’re very kind and I just knew I could trust you. Maybe it’s those hopeful eyes or that warm smile but I just feel so relaxed with you. I know e just met but it’s a nice feeling. Especially with all my paranoia” he chuckled.
Sam laughed, “well, people still respect you Steve they see the kind of man you are. Most men aren’t like you. Selfless and willing to put his life on the line.” He nodded, “most people are selfish and don’t want to fight for the little guy,I could go in but it’ll sound like I’m gushing which just to be clear I’m not” he laughed. Sam was very aware that Steve trusted him and he didn’t expect that, Steve has been through so much in his lifetime even when he was frozen that Sam just wanted to be support for him.

Sam gave up trying to pack, “you’re right, whatever we don’t have I’m sure we’ll find in Vienna. I’m bringing some books just in case” he chuckled. “It’s like being in the quintet only smaller and slower so,” he shrugged. Sam thought for a moment, “you know, I might just annoy the hell out of Annie” he laughed, “until she smacks me with something.”

Madeleine smiled at Bucky and found herself softly rubbing her thumbs over his hands before she laced her fingers with his. Literally, her heart was swelling right now and she didn't know why. She had officially only known him for twelve hours and already felt more of connection to him then she had any other man in her life ever. And what was even weirder was that she hardly knew anything about him still. Yes, he'd just shared part of his life story with her but that was still only part of what made him who he was. "I feel the same way," Maddie said softly moving her hand up his metal arm just to feel it all under her fingertips. And it was cool to the touch, much like she'd expected but it was part of him. Then her hand moved to cup his cheek in her hand and before she could stop herself she was kissing him. This was literally the fastest she had ever moved with any guy, the soonest she'd ever kissed any guy, and probably the most relaxed she'd ever felt around a guy. But she didn't mind it.

Maddie felt like letting things happen any other way would be wrong. She was totally following her gut here, which she could see how following an organ that digests your food other than thinking logically could be an issue. There just seemed to be those moments when all logic went out the door and all you were left with was the feelings your gut gave you. And Maddie didn't want to risk missing out on something that could be beautiful because she didn't take a chance.
Steve rolled his eyes at Sam again and shook his head. He really didn't understand his friend sometimes but Sam did make life much more interesting. "Maybe I'll bring some books too," he said nodding his head. This did give him the chance to do a little light reading, and by that, he meant finally read some of the books people had been telling him to read for a while now. After all, he'd been out of the ice for a good amount of time now, he was actually adjusting to everything pretty well, and he had a rather long list of movies, TV shows, music, and books to watch, read, and listen to that apparently were all so good Steve needed to experience them. Almost all of them were from after he'd been in the ice and this really did give him the chance to get started on the list. And fifteen hours was a long time to kill.

"So do you think we should stop by Annie's bakery? Ya know to make sure she's okay, see if she wants us to pick anything up before the trip?" He asked partly wanting to see Annie again and actually make sure she was okay after they'd been invited on the trip, and partly because he really kind of wanted to try something else that she'd baked because after having finally tried one of her brownies he kind of wanted to try some other delicious treats.

Bucky was not the same man from the 40s, he wasn’t your ladies man who flirted with any pretty doll that walked his way. His confidence was no longer there, not entirely anyway, he has been broken. Bucky kept to himself he didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore, he was sad mostly. Meeting Maddie was the first time he didn’t feel any anguish and he had smiled and laughed more than he has over the last few years since his escape from Hydra. It was nice, she was very warm and inviting and he just connected with her. Even after explaining his past she was still here holding his hands, feeling his metal arm. Most would think he couldn’t be able to feel anything, but he could, feel every touch, hit or scrape and it hurt just like a normal flesh arm. Bucky was surprised when Maddie touched his face he didn’t back up however, he leaned forward loving the way her soft hands felt on his scruffy face. A moment later she has pressed her soft pink lips on his own lips. Taking him by complete surprise his eyes almost popped out of sockets. Bucky however didn’t reject her, instead taking both his hands he cupped Maddie’s face and deepened the kiss. It was so soft and sweet he loved the way her lips made him feel.

Bucky’s heart was beating fast in his chest it had been such a long time since he’s kissed a beautiful dame. He almost forgot what a woman’s lips felt like but Maddie just made him smiled. He continued kissing her, it felt like the whole world stopped and it was just them two. It was such a good feeling he didn’t want it to go away. After a moment or so they pulled back his forehead resting on her’s. “That was very nice” he smiled shyly.
Sam finished packing and sat in a chair for a moment watching Steve go through piles of books and other forms of entertainment. “So many rbi far to read so little time huh? Audio books are great too, it’s like you’re reading a book without actually reading it.” He chuckled. Sam grabbed his phone and decided that he’d message Annie again. Sam nodded, “yeah, we can I was going to stop by to steak some of those cinnamon rolls, or those chocolate chip cookies. I have a sweet tooth every time I come home” he laughed.

They walked “irs simply called Annie’s and it’s not too far from here.” Sam knew she’d be there. Work was all she did. Sure enough when they were there she was decorating. He stepped right in and looked around “you made some changes, I like it.” Sam note:. Annie looked up and smiled, feeling much better than she had been earlier. Working with sugar puts a smile on everyone’s face. “Hey, I didn’t expect you, I’ve been busy experimenting with this cheesecake recipe.. and filling up “ she wiped her hands on her apron. “What brings you here?” She asked. Sam could smell the fresh breads, it was like heaven, “making sure you’re in better spirits and Steve here wanted to try some more of your sweets.” Annie turned to hell smiling shyly “yeah I mean look around,” she told them wiping some frosting from her cheek. “I had to come up with instructions and prep everything becauss I won’t be here a week and I want things to go smoothly.”
