“Ohh he’s handsome,” Madeleine gushed over the phone to her friend. “To bad you guys don’t wanna be set up. You’d look good together,” she said with a smile, “but I promise I’m not trying to push you. I’m just observing,” she said wanting her friend to find love and happiness. But she didn’t want to push Annie into anything she wasn’t ready for because that simply wasn’t fair to her. “Of course! I’m always happy to have you! For as long as you want!” She said with a bright smile. It had honestly been so long since they’d visited with one another that time spent with her best friend even on a whim would be more precious than anything to her.
Maddie smiled simply at the thought of this man she hardly knew, clearly this all meant something. “His name is James. But I think he prefers to go by his nickname Bucky. Not sure where it came from but I’m sure if we decide to get to know one another that I’ll figured it out,” she said shrugging her shoulders slightly. “So Captain America huh? Is he nice? I’ve heard a lot of things about him. I mean a lot of people over here really respect him. Of course there are some skepticism after the recent going ons that happened. But you know me I prefer to get to know people for myself before writing them off, entirely. At least if it’s an option,” she said knowing in a situation like this she would like to know the man before simply agreeing with people.
Steve felt himself blush a little again when he noticed her point the phone in his and Sams direction, followed by a soft squeal which he assumed wasn’t from Annie. “I think that was a good sound but I’m honestly not sure,” he said to Sam shrugging his shoulders. Steve would be the first to tell you that he truly didn’t understand women at all. And he knew that Sam knew both of the women talking to one another so he would hopefully know.
Steve turned to Sam at the mention of Bucky and sighed softly. “He did. I mean we knew each other way before the war or I was Captain America. We always had each other’s backs, he was always trying to set me up with some dame. He was my best friend. And then I let him down. And I thought he’d died a long time ago when he fell off a train. But clearly I was wrong. And I kind of hate that I didn’t look for him. That I didn’t save him like he’d saved me so many time before,” Steve knew it wasn’t his fault the things that had happened to Bucky, but he couldn’t help but blame himself either way,
