What Are You Gonna Do?

Nova smiled as she hugged her dad. She nodded, "of course I understand that." She said. She smirked when he mentioned running for senator, "I'm proud of you daddy." She said. She was confused when he mentioned having to talk about something else. "What is it? Did something wrong?" She asked him. She looked at her mother and brother. She knew she was about to get lectured.

Richard nodded and smiled. He was glad she was proud of him. He loved his kids and wanted to do what he believed was best for them. He took a breath and composed himself before speaking. “Brendan told me he thought you brought someone into the office last night. Usually no big deal, I trust you.” He paused and looked across at Nova. “But I figured I would check the security tapes, in case. Who were you with last night?” He asked. Richard knee quite well who the man was. He detested him and his entire family. Through local politics, initiatives, laws, etc. Richard had been trying to get this man and his family for years. The gang tormented the city. If he would be able to get rid of the gang, then he would certainly win his senate seat. But he hadn’t been. They were good, it was in their blood, and he knew it. Orlando has been able to avoid dirtying his hands so he couldn’t be charge with anything. “Do not like to me. I know who he is. And I want you to tell me why you were with a man like that.”

Nova frowned when he mentioned last night. She shot Brendan a glare. He was such a snitch. She looked at her dad and sighed. "His name is Orlando. I'm confused about why you are so upset. You know who he is? I just met him yesterday. Do you work with him?" She asked.

Brendan roles his eyes at his sister, then gave her a disappointing look.

Richard sighed and punched his eyebrows together. “I knew it” he sighed again, shaking his head. “God no, I don’t work with him.” He scowled and looked back at Nova. “I work against him,” he paused and looked to his son and wife before back at his daughter. “You know on the news, the gang fights, drugs, basically anything bad that goes on in the city? It’s run by him. There is one other gang but it’s smaller and less powerful. Orlando is a third generation mafia boss.” He said and watched for her reaction. “I’ve been trying to get rid of him since I entered the political scene, him and his father. You cannot be hanging around with scum like that. He’s bad news. He’s a bad person” he said curtly. “That’s the end of the discussion. You are not allowed near him. He will years you apart. He will ruin you. He will ruin the family image. He’s a player, I’m sure of it. He just wants sex. No gang leader wants love.” Her father stood and moved across the room, lighting the fireplace.

Nova frowned, "I don't believe you. He has been nothing but nice to me. You can't just tell me what I can and can't do. If I want to be friends with someone I will." She snapped at her father. "Even if he was you don't know him." She said. She sighed as she walked out. "Have fun with your campaign daddy." She said. She shut his door and walked to her car and decided to go ask Orlando for herself.

Her blacked out Mercedes pulled up to his shop and she turned it off. She opened her door, getting out wearing her Gucci sunglasses.

Orlando's best friend wiped his hands off as he noticed the car pull up. "Hey, Orlando. Is that your date? Just a guess." He said. His other friend looked over, "Ooo daddy's money." He said, chuckling.

Richard was curious that his daughter was trying to disobey him. “You are not to have anything to do with him and that is final!” He shouted as she left.

Orlando has just finished working on a car when he heard Nova pull up. Looking out at the car he knew it had to be her. No one else with a car like that would be coming to his place. He smirked and got up. As his guys begun to tease him he threw the towel in their direction. “Shut up. She’s attractive.” He sneered and walked up to Nova

“I thought we agreed that I would pick you up at seven” he teased gently, looking out to her car. “Or did you want me to clean that beauty up for you!?”

Nova pulled her sunglasses off as he came towards her. She looked at him, "Yeah, well change of plans. We have to talk." She said, seeing his eyes move to her car. "Focus. We need to talk. Without and audience." She said, seeing his friends trying to discreetly listen.

She was worried that her dad was right. Maybe he did just want her for sex. It made it tempting to have sex with him because it would piss her dad off. She knew that was probably a bad idea.

Orlando raised an eyebrow when she got so blunt so quickly. He wasn’t sure what happened and was trying to run through his head what he might have done. “sorry sorry, it’s a nice car.” He paused and looked to the two guys. “Okay yea, come on.” He told her, waving the guys off and leading her to the back of the store where his own office was. He opened the door for her and followed behind, shutting the shades behind them.

“What’s going on?” He asked, sincerely confused. “Did I say something wrong? I was really looking forward to our date tonight.” He told her, innocently. Orlando pulled a chair out for her before sitting behind his desk.

Nova walked with him back to his office, glancing around before she sat down. She looked at him when he said he was excited for their date. She was excited as well. "You didn't do anything wrong." She said as she set her purse on her desk. She didn't know how to ask him about everything. She bit her bottom lip lightly. "I'm just going to come out and say it." She said.

"Are you involved with the mafia? Don't lie to me." She said as she stared at him. She knew her dad was going to be pissed for even being here.

Orlando gave her a smile as he watched her sit down. He couldn't help it, he thought she was just the cutest thing. When she said he didn't do anything wrong he let out a sigh of relief. Though it was short lived when she followed up. When she asked, he raised an eyebrow at her and chuckled to himself. "I wouldn't lie to you, but I cant say I was hoping this conversation would come after a few dates rather than our first." He paused and stood up. "I didn't tell you because I didn't want to scare you off."

Orlando walked around to the front of the desk, in front of Nova. He sat down besides her purse and looked down at her. "I'm not involved, I'm in charge." He said and shrugged, trying to downplay it. "I do run this business, and it is mostly legitimate. But it is also a front for my illegal businesses as well." He bit his lip for a moment. He didn't want to say too much, so he shut up. "My father was the leader before, and his father was before him." He reached down into his boot and pulled out an old switchblade. "Here, look at this." The outside was black, buffed, and shiny. It had white words on it, Ernesto Burton, and a white crested viper.

Nova bit her bottom lip lightly when he confessed to it. She watched as he moved to stand in front of her. She was hoping he didn't plan to hurt her now that she knew. When he continued to act normal she was a little relieved. She watched as he pulled the switchblade out. Nova looked at the writing on it. Nova let her eyes move to his.

"My dad said I can't talk to you." She whispered. She had liked Orlando so much, but she was worried about what her dad would do. She didn't want him to cause trouble for Orlando. Nova stood up, glancing around his office. She moved to reach for her purse. She felt like she had been punched. She finally met someone that was fun and she enjoyed. Of course he would be the biggest criminal in the city.

Orlando nodded and watched her reaction. He instinctively bit his lip as well. He hoped it wouldn't be a deal breaker. "Of course he did," he chuckled, "your father doesn't like me. reasonably so." He paused and got up again walking around his desk, opening a drawer. "But, like I said, you should grow a backbone. Do what you want, not what daddy wants you to do." he pulled out a file, about half an inch thick. "These are all the articles, briefs, etc. that your father has done against me or my father. And some dirt on him. We kept track just to see when our vulnerable times were and when the strong times were. You can read it. You might learn something about your dad." he leaned over and handed her the file. "I may be the big bad dude, but your dad is not squeaky clean either. I run my gang as clean as I can. Occasionally there are scuffles with rival gangs or people trying to step into my territory of business. I'm not afraid to get violent, but I dont prefer it. I have my lower on the totem pole men do it for me most of the time.

Orlando sat again and looked at her. "I understand if you do not want to cause rifts in your family, especially with your father running for senator. However, I do think youre very pretty and very nice and would like to get to know you. If you give me a chance, I can show you that this bad boy has a lot more to him." He smiled and took a deep breath.

Nova watched as he moved around to the other side of the desk. She took the file from him, opening the file as he spoke. She rolled her eyes a little when he mentioned growing a backbone. She looked at him, "You realize he would literally ruin me." She told him. She looked down at the file. If it had dirt on her dad she could use it to her advantage.

She looked at him when he mentioned her giving him a chance. She thought about it before she moved to stand on the side of the desk he was on. She leaned against his desk. "Are you only interested in me because you want to fuck me? If you are then we can consider this done. I'm sure someone like you could find anyone for that." She said.

"He can't ruin you, if you can ruin him." Orlando told her with a wink. "The possibility of mutual destruction is what keeps me from him and what keeps him from me. Except when he needs to keep face for the media, then he likes to tear me apart." He chuckled and shrugged. "I told you I can help, but it is your decision and I respect that." Orlando was trying to smooth talk her, hoping to better his position in her mind.

Orlando glanced up when she moved towards him, he reached out to put a hand on her hip but realized that was a bad idea and pulled it away. 'What? Np?" he shook his head. "If I just wanted you for sex, why didn't I try to come into your apartment with you last night?" He countered, standing up, then looking down at her. "You spilled coffee on me, completely met by accident. If I just wanted sex, I could have just gone to the club and hooked up with someone. But I went with you and walked you home. I didn't ask to come in or anything." He sighed and sat down. "I'm sorry, it's just. Stereotypical you know? I'm a bad boy so I must be a player?"

Everything he was saying made sense. Maybe having evidence on her dad was a way to control him. She wonder just how much Orlando knew. Nova looked down at the file. When he touched her hip she looked at him.

He was really making good points. "I just thought I would ask. Apparently that is what he said you want " she said as she moved to sit on his desk. She opened the file to look at some of the papers. She could tell he was still nervous she wasn't going to talk to him. "We are still going on our date. But we are doing more than laser tag. There is a concert downtown at this bar I want to go there. You are taking me there." She said as she flipped through the papers.

Orlando watched Nova and smiled slightly as he watched her. He felt okay giving her this information, he implicitly trusted her for some reason. "There is plenty in there that could help you if you do not want to stay being bossed around." He said, shrugging again. "Of course that is what he said. He doesn't like me, he thinks I'm a bad dude." Orlando shook his head and looked back up at her. When she said that their date was still on, eh smirked. "Lucky me." When she continued he laughed to himself. "You know, constantly giving orders, it's nice to have someone take charge once in a while." He teased, standing so that they were eye level. "I'd love to take you, what concert is it?"

Orlando grabbed his switchblade off the desk and put it back in his shoe. He turned to look back at Nova. "We could always start our date early. Or I could take my shirt off, and work on your car while you drool all over me, while I get grease on my chest." He smirked and licked his lips. "While I buff and wax your car, you can look through that and determine what information is good?" He offered.

Nova laughed when he said it was nice to be ordered around. She looked into his eyes, "It's the concert that we are going to." She said, smirking a little. She looked over as he grabbed the switchblade off the desk. She smiled a little when he mentioned working on her car.

"No need to start early. Clearly you were working and I interrupted." She said, her eyes moving to his. "Though my car could use a tune up. Plus, I need to look at these." She said, motioning to the papers. "You may want to bring my car into the garage though because if someone sees it here you might be in trouble." She said. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest from how close he was. He was a fine piece of man.

"Bossy and cocky, I love it." He purred. "Using the crowd to mask yourself, so daddy doesn't find out youre with the bad boy?" He teased. Orlando nodded in agreement. "Come sit in the bay, you can read those and watch me work. The best of both worlds." He said, standing, moving closer to her, and reaching out for her keys. His eyes looked her up and down again, tracing her body with his eyes. Once Nova handed him the keys he headed out of the office and outside to her parked car. He told one of his men to open the bay door as he went out to get the car.

Orlando drove her Mercedes into the bay, parked it, and turned it off. He walked to the tool wall and grabbed a few tools, a rag, and a bucket of wax. Orlando went to work on her car as she read the file. WHen he was finished with the wrok he decided to wax it. Make it look pretty for their dates tonight. He walked over to Nova and grinned, waxy rag in hand. "Watch and learn, sweetheart." He purred, taking his shirt off before going back to her her car and slowly beginning to wax it. He made sure to purposely move his body in ways to seduce her, flirt. He knew his guys were watching from the snickers, but they knew not to step too out of line.

Nova smiled, "Oh yes, just what my life was missing." She teased him before she got off his desk. She walked with him, then sat down where he had told her too. She looked through some of the files, seeing that her dad was involved in some very interesting stuff. Turns out he wasn't as clean as he claimed to be. Nova looked up as Orlando walked towards her. She watched as he pulled his shirt off. She had to admit that it was pretty amusing to watch him try to seduce her this way. It was definitely a first. She liked being able to joke around with him though.

"Less flirting more waxing. You missed a spot." She teased him. She smirked as he looked at her. She hoped that her dad would leave her alone for a while. She just wanted to enjoy her night without him causing any problems. Part of her felt like that wasn't going to happen though. He was going to get pissed when he found out she went out with Orlando when he had told her no. She was just going to have to make the most of this time before it came crashing down.

Orlando laughed at her comment before he finished up waxing the car. He slung the dirty rag over his shoulder and walked back to Nova. "Everything is perfect in that car right now. You could sell it for more than you bought it for." He laughed and pulled his shirt back on. "Find anything you wanna keep? I've got a copier in my office so you can make copies, but I do need to keep the originals." He said and held his hand out to lead her back to the office. He walked into the office and pointed to the machine. "If yo need help, let me know. I've gotta update a few things on my computer then we can head out." He told her with a smile.

Orlando sat at his desk, opening up the PC before he begun to enter information. He detailed the work that he had done for customers that day and sent billing invoices out. Occasionally he would look over at Nova and smile. "How was I not able to to seduce you with that waxing move? I mean, I looked fine as fuck." He purred, getting up adn moving towards her again. Orlando put his hand on Nova's hip. "Because you got me and didn't even try." he whispered close to her ear.
