I Know I Love You

Emily smiled. “I never have before but maybe you can teach me.” She said and then looked up when she heard commotion. “Oh no..” she frowned.

“Sorry my ass, Jungwon.” Kai said. Soobin walked over, “Jungwon, come on man, can’t you guys leave them alone for one semester?”

“Oh shut up, Soobin, I don’t even know why you’re friends with these losers. You’re rich and popular, you could hang out with us but you choose to waste your time on losers like Kai and Beomgyu.” Niki said, clicking his tongue.

Rose felt herself being pulled away from the commotion by Soobin, and she frowned, wanting to go and help Kai.

Soobin rolled his eyes. “Have you considered that Kai and Beomgyu are nicer people than you and any of your cronies will ever be? The only nice one is Sunghoon. He should be with us.”

Beomgyu stepped in front of Emily to protect her from anything that may happen, although he looked at the mess on Kai’s shirt and flinched. “We don’t cause you guys any trouble, I don’t see why you’re so hellbent on being mean…”

Jungwon smirked. “Because you’re easy targets, and you do nothing to pull that target from your back. And besides, I’m bored. I need some good entertainment.”

“And Yeonjun and Taehyun aren’t here to fight your bat” Niki started before he was shoved to the floor hard by Yeonjun. The two of them had come back in and seen the whole interaction.

Yeonjun grabbed a thing of strawberry milk before opening it and dumping it on Niki’s head. “Oops, I’m so sorry Niki.” He said.

Naturally, Jay was over there in minutes, getting in Yeonjun’s face, while Jungwon helped Niki up, who looked like he was ready to cry.

“What did I tell you about messing with him?” Jay glared. “What did I tell you about your friends messing with mine?” Yeonjun pushed Jay back, knocking him into Niki and Jungwon.

Beomgyu gently lead Emily out of the way, to Rose. “You two need to go somewhere safe; cause it’s about to get nasty in here. Go to the library, Kai and I will come and find you in a minute.” He instructed calmly, not knowing if they would listen.

Soobin pulled Yeonjun away. “Okay, okay, cool it.” Soobin spoke harshly, trying to de-escalate things. “Whatever has started all of this needs to be fixed, because this is getting out of hand.”

Taehyun stood by Yeonjun defiantly, ready to hit anyone that came too close. “Maybe these little boys should learn to pick on someone else for a change.”

Jay looked at Soobin, “maybe you should keep your dogs on a closer leash.” He said and then smirked as he saw Jake creeping up behind Taehyun.

Before anyone could say anything, Jake punched Taehyun hard enough to knock him down, causing him to smack his head against the ground as he fell.

That’s all it took for Yeonjun to grab Jake and knock him down before he began punching him in the face multiple times.

The rest of their friends ran over, with the exception of Sunghoon, as they started fighting with Yeonjun and Taehyun.

It didn’t last long before the staff came in, pulling the boys apart. “You two! My office, now!” The principal said to Yeonjun and a bleeding Taehyun.

She pretty much let the others go free, telling Jay to take Jake to the nurse’s office.

“But Jake swung first! That isn’t fair!” Kai said.

Taehyun held his head, wincing in pain as he followed the principal begrudgingly, pointing to Jake before running a finger across his throat. “You’re dead.” He mouthed.

Rose looked at Emily, but stayed silent, not knowing enough Korean to tell staff that it wasn’t Yeonjun or Taehyun’s fault. Shifting from foot to foot, Rose sighed. “These guys really have beef.” She murmured to Emily.

Beomgyu held Kai back, shaking his head to stop the younger boy. “There’s nothing we can do, Kai.” He murmured.

Emily frowned and looked at Jake. “If you’re trying to impress us, this is not the way to go about it. It makes us not want to be friends with you guys.” She said and then walked towards the exit of the cafeteria. She was done with all the drama between these two sets of friends.

“Let’s go get you cleaned up. I have some extra clothes in my car.” Soobin told Kai. “Beomgyu, you can take Rose to the library with Emily, okay?” He told him, before leading Kai out.

Beomgyu nodded with Soobin’s words before catching up to Emily with Rose. “I’m sorry about them…” Beomgyu sighed, rubbing at his face with his hands. “I don’t know what’s gotten into Yeonjun and Taehyun, and as for Jake? He’s just showing off…” Beomgyu walked a steady pace beside her. “It isn’t what you deserve to experience.”

Rose hesitated for a moment, wanting to make sure Kai was okay, but quickly followed after Emily, looking over her shoulder to Kai once more.

“They’re doing a really bad job at trying to impress us or whatever.” Emily sighed as Beomgyu led them to them to the library. Once inside, Beomgyu went to the back with them so they could wait for Soobin and Kai.

“Are you okay, Kai?” Soobin asked as he stood in the bathroom, outside of the stall while Kai was inside of it, changing into the spare clothes that Soobin had.

Beomgyu nodded sheepishly as he listened to Emily. “I mean, maybe the have a crush on you.” It wasn’t like it was difficult to not harbour a crush towards the copper haired girl, she was beautiful in every way. “It makes sense…”

“You think so?” Emily asked, a little surprised. “Well, if that’s the case, I’m not interested, especially if they are going to treat you and Kai like that.” She said. “I like nice boys, like you, not bullies.” She offered Beomgyu a small smile.

Beomgyu offered a smile to Emily with her words, his heart beating harder in his chest. Would there ever be a time where they could be together? Biting his lip with the thought, Beomgyu smiled softly. “So much drama for your first day.”

“I know.” Emily sighed and looked up as Kai and Soobin came into the library and not even a moment later, Yeonjun and Taehyun came in. “How did it go?” Soobin asked.

“They’re suspending us for three days.” Yeonjun mumbled as he sat down at the table.

Beomgyu listened to Yeonjun but nodded in understanding at the boy’s frustration. “If you need somewhere to stay for those three days, my door is open, man.” Beomgyu promised quietly, knowing what Yeonjun’s Dad was like.

Taehyun kicked his feet up onto the table as he relaxed into his chair. “I just want to know what Jake’s fucking problem is.” He murmured, his own shoulders slumped in frustration. “That whole group is nuts.”

“I know.” Yeonjun smiled at Beomgyu. He looked at the girls, “I’m sorry you had to see us act like that.” He apologized, bowing his head some.

“It’s so unfair that they’re suspending you guys when Jake’s friends attacked first.” Emily frowned.

“They let Jake and his friends get away with everything because Sunoo’s dad is paying them money to keep Jake and them here and with a clean record, or else they would have been suspended a long time ago.”

Rose shook her head gently. “Don’t apologise, you did what you have to do to protect yourself and your friends, and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, Yeonjun.” Rose spoke softly. But hearing the explanation of why the others got away with everything, Rose nodded.

Soobin scoffed, shaking his head. “It’s a dirty move. I’m sure they’ll graduate with honours, too.”

Beomgyu sat back in his seat, nodding along with the conversation. “There isn’t much we can do to fight back against them anyway. We’re the outcasts, remember?” He asked, looking to Emily and Rose. “We’re not popular like they are.”

“I don’t see why not? You guys are all sweet.” Emily said. “Being sweet doesn’t get you that far, girls like bad guys, like Jake and them.” Kai sighed.

“Soobin could hang out with them, since his family is rich.” Yeonjun scoffed.

“But I would never do that because you guys are my family, you know that.” Soobin clicked his tongue as he looked at them.

Taehyun looked to Yeonjun. “Don't be unfair, you know Soobin-hyung would never do that to us.” He warned gently. But hearing Kai’s words, Taehyun looked to the girls and saw how they looked at Kai and Beomgyu, smirking. “Well, that’s not true all of the time.”

Beomgyu shrugged. “All I know is that I’m already sick of this year. The coolest thing that’s happened is you.” He spoke to Emily then with a smile. “We never have been the guys that fit in. We’re used to it, honestly. It just sometimes gets too much.”

“If it makes you feel better, Rose and I weren’t that popular at our school back in California.” Emily said, looking at the boys.

“You’re joking. How could you two not be popular?!” Kai gasped in complete shock.

“All the girls in our schools were more worried about hooking up with guys and we weren’t into that, so they started being mean to us.” Emily said.

Rose laughed with Emily’s words, nodding. “We worked so hard to get into the international programme, while everyone else was partying. I stayed over at Emily’s almost every night to study. It was a cool experience, but man, we got dragged through dirt.”

Beomgyu frowned, but nodded. “It’s crazy to think you two would be unpopular, truly. It shows that people really do lack common sense.” He smiled at Emily. “How does it feel to do a complete turnaround here? Everyone wants to know you.”
