I haven't finished any chaptered stories yet and I'm still thinking how they are going to end.
My one-shots that I have up are one's that are probably more cliffhanger-ish; since they do have a will they get together or won't they? Will he admit his feelings or not?

For Point Me Towards Tomorrow, if I ever decide to start it up again, will have a sad ending.

Elegie I guess has a sad-ish ending, but I guess it's also kind of bittersweet.

My new oneshot, that I've yet to post, according to The Way is "so bittersweet." I didn't know that.

Want a sad ending? Check out my one shot called kiss me goodbye (chapter two of shots in the dark) I actually managed to make myself cry... yeah, new level of patheticness reached by me

I like sad ending. Bittersweet ones are great.

I haven't actualyl finished a story yet. I've got fed up with it and deleted it. But my teacher used to say a cliffhanger is the easy way out.

    I haven't finished any story I've ever done. x)

Well, except for one. But it's like 3 one shots, and they weren't really fiction. :/

I'm not planning on ending any story soon, so I haven't planned anything...

Endings are hard mainly because it has to kind of fit and go with the rest of the story. Other wise it'd be like writing an essay and your thesis and facts have nothing to do with the conclusion.

I do a bit of bittersweet I guess...

One story ended with a funeral after the two main characters were killed in the second to last chapter.

Old old crappy fics I used to write a long time ago, I always had happy endings.

Now I like the sad/bittersweet endings.

Most of my other finished stories have a suicide or a death within the last 3 or so chapters, a funeral scene or something, then like a "one year later" type deal to tie up something, and it would be happy, yet sad.

Though I only have 3 finished stories here, and a 4th coming to a close that I gotta finish posting on here.

I wouldn't really do a cliffhanger ending unless I was planning a sequal. Although I do have my fair-share of cliffhanger chapters which people hate me for....XD

I've been told I do a really good job killing off my characters without... killing off my characters.
Like, I used to write a lot of Green Day suicide fics.
And most of the time I never really say Billie Joe killed himself.
You have to find it yourself.
Like the end of Nevermore was:
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

I rather like ending things like that actually.
I don't do it much anymore, but...

All the stories that I've written that had a happy ending sucked. Horribly. Except one, because I think the objective was to be as cliche without being cliche as I could - Life In Cartoon Motion.

I think that once I started to actually read more from other authors, I started to get insipration from...well, the more depressing endings. I love reading stories with a happy ending - shrugs - most of my oneshots end happily because of that.

My first story didn't have a real ending, and yet it didn't have a cliffhanger either... It was weird, the whole concept was weird actually and I loved it that way.

I hoping this one will end how I want it to,
Considering I'm changing the narrator, for the sequal, it might be sad, or depending on how people see my character, action-packed and happy, or tragic and sad.
I think 2 chapters before the end might be the sadest bit.
And I'm worrying about writing it wrong.

Finally finished one story, and it's kinda; I would say cliffhanger because of how the last paragraph is and given the fact that it's a vampire fic you know? It's not that good a story, but first attempt gets makrs for something....

    Sad all the way.
-shrugs- I'm just not very fond with gooey endings. I just mapped out a story I'm writing now, and it will end on a happy note, I'll admit.

But only after the readers cry over half of the dead characters. xD

I'm planning a bittersweet ending for one of my stories.
One-shots, I find easier to end tragically.
Overall, I'm not great with endings because I want everyone to be happy...and that's generally not realistic.

I think it all depends on what genre of story you're writing. But I usually end my stories with twist endings :tehe: I like to see suspense and surprise within readers (:

I've really only finished two stories, but they were connected,
so there's really only one ending. :]
I left it ambiguous between completely sad and just bittersweet.
My one-shots either end happily, or they end with some 'inevitiable' sad event.

Even though I've never really used it, I like the style of ending Dru mentioned:
    druscilla; sain:
Like the end of Nevermore was:
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

one of the first stories i ever wrote was with the ending being darkness taking over the world. it was really random

i usually try to come up with a good ending by the time i start writing the second chapter and varies between stories.
