To the Bones obviously had a very sad ending. It was done that way on purpose. It was premeditated. I knew that if it ended happily, with a cure and a kiss, that it wouldn't have hardly any effect. It might have some, but nowhere near the impact I wanted it to. I wanted the last chapter to be a punch to the stomach.
Just so you know, it was. I read the first line and I was crying the whole way through.

I think it's important that endings be impactful, happy or not, because it leaves the reader thinking about it and remembering it.

I usually make the ending sad, it's easier for me but it also it much more realistic.

Bittersweety. Although, none of my endings are written yet, I know they'll end bittersweetly.

The majority of the things I write have tragic endings. I try to end my stories with a bang, so they will be remembered and leave the reader thinking.
Endings are usually the hardest to write for me; everything else comes easily.

I really like circular stories. Call it an effect of studying realistic novels for too long. haha.
Anyway, I have but one story that is circular.
    Red Moon.
[By circular story I mean one with a circular structure, the beginning and the ending are alike, but in the said story actually everything has a circular structure, even the relation between the characters.]

Oh actually I was sure someone was going to die in that story. I made a bet with Fatma after reading the first chapter that someone will be buried by the end of the story. I wasn't sure if it would be Ryan or Brendon.
I think I would've liked it if Brendon died.
    Just died.
Maybe suicide because of Ryan's sickness and the fact that he can't help Ryan.
But I mean, I love it this way too.

Depressing, sad with a tiny bit of enlightment, happy/sad at the same time, cliffhanger-ish.

I actually quite enjoy writing the ending, it's one of my favorite parts to write. I like wrapping everything up and giving the character's last thoughts in the story and stuff.

I plan on ending Freekshow, my superhero story that's not even written yet, with a death, but having it not be overdramatic. Like, maybe I'll have two characters get together near the end. I still haven't decided yet.

Like Walking Into A Dream, I really enjoy writing the end, too. Although I rarely make it to the end. I always get bored and go on to another story.

It's one of my many faults.

I'm really into the type of endings that aren't so much an ending as you just stop getting to see what happens. I like moment in time fics and ones that are essentially moment in time, but go into several moments.

I tend to lean more towards happy endings, though when I'm in a sad mood I write sad endings. It really just depends on what I plotted out.
Its mostly happy, cloud nine stuff.

    I make my endings real.

Sometimes the happily ever after bit works, but if it doesn't fit with the story, I'm not going to use it.

fyi. I suck so hard at endings anyway XD

Transylvania ended the way it did because it just couldn't end any other way.
I wanted to make a statement, and I think if I'd have written it differently it wouldn't have had half the effect.

Honestly, I'm typical. I'm a sucker for a happy ending, but my absolute favorites are bittersweet endings. I love when love is lost but a lesson is learned and the characters experience growth because of it, but the ending isn't overly happy, per-say.

I love writing the endings of my stories.
    They're definitely my favorite part.

It's because I feel like I can never fail with an ending, because it can only ever be one way. A story can only end one way, and once you've found that way -- or that way has found you -- you're done.

I always just keep writing and writing until I'm done. Of course I know how the last parts are going to be, but I don't necessarily know how it's going to end. I just let the story tell me.

I like endings that aren't really endings, like what you've said, where they're more not getting to see anything else that's happening. You know there's more, but you don't get to see it. I've kinda been finishing stories like that, lately. I like the way you don't have to end it on a happy note or a sad note, you just end it...and that's it.

Does anyone else have problems sometimes knowing when the end is? Like, you're writing and you think it's the end, but you're not sure?

They usually end up depressing if I'm planning a sequel. But I also love working with a fluffy, happy, ending. Hug

I do love a bittersweet ending, though.

I prefer to end mine happy, but I did write a two-shot where it ended sad, I suppose.
I do like sad endings, and find that happy endings are quite cliche.
