I love slash, I guess it's more romantically appealing to me.

Eh, I'm not really into slash.
I'll read one every now and then, if someone asks me to and I won't have a problem with the story or anything, it's just not my boat.
Good for people that like them, though! To each their own :]

Some people would feel uncomfortable if a straight couple were making out in public, too.
    I would.
:) Two males or females making out in public make me smile, on the other hand. It warms my heart.
(what a shame it's so rare in my country :P)

I used to read/write only het... But now I'm in phase where I enjoy slash much more.
I think that where there's quality, it doesn't matter what gender the couple is.

I love and only read slash, and it's much easier for me to write about it also. I just find the subject really interesting to write, and no, not just for the sex that a lot of people read it for, but for the situations that a slash story can have.

It's a story where the romantic pairing is two men.

Also, please don't sign your name in your posts, as it could be considered spam. You can put it in your sig though.

Depends on the pairing, to be rather honest :/

Like, if its a Frerard, or a Ryden, then I'm all for it! I also love slash incest. Letocest, Waycest, Maddencest, etc...

Yeah, I'm picky about pairing too, but I still prefer slash over het.

I've read one author that had really good het, but she was on myspace and doesn't write anymore. I think slash makes it easy to get over the 'ZOMG IZ BRENDON URIE/GEERAWRD WAY/WHOEVADAFUCK THEY GON SAVE ME AND WE'LL GET MARRIED AND I'LL TOUR WITH THEM!' bullshit.

Though there's some pretty badly written slash too. But still, you just tend to find better quality in slashes overall.

I agree on pairing. I usually can't do Ferards (though I've seen some good ones lately) and obviously I can only be interested in people from fandoms that I'm interested in, but even as a Green Day fan, I just can't see them as gay for eachother.

I've always been obsessed with Frikey, personally, because I noticed that they share clothing... it always just made me look at them as a couple for some reason. And Waycests are just amazing. But it has to be written extremely well. Shitty Waycest may be the worst kind of slash out there, but well written Waycest might be the best.

Brendon and Ryan do, too. tehe
I agree with what you said about the typical "het" plotline. When I read het, which is rare and usually a side pairing to a slash pairing, I like canonical het. Like Ryan/Z Berg. I do not like female characters for the most part, in general, and I'm not a fan of most OFCs, so if I'm reading a female character, I want her to already exist and there's a lack of that in my bandom. (Not that I'm complaining. I'd rather have the slash.)

I know In Love It turns me into a pile of melting fangirl every time I notice it...
But yeah, Smooshy was the author that I read who just wrote so well that she made OFC and Gerard (worst pairing EVER) stories enjoyable to read. But I've never seen another author pull it off well. I think, for me, it's because the author always seems to make the females these little bitches who throw their lives away to chase a guy and it's just so sexist and annoying that I can't read it.

I've seen really good background female characters in fan fiction, but it seems like most of the good female leads tend to be in original fiction. I think girls are much harder to write than guys, though.

I don't like slash - I'm a guy, two guys boning doesn't get me off. I generally read het if I'm in the mood for some word porn but I wouldn't mind two chicks, it's just hard to find a well written femmeslash.

I write mainly femmeslash now - original mostly, The Like or Tegan & Sara fanfiction occasionally. It's different from writing two boys, but not necessarily harder, in my opinion.

Het is boring because everyone's seen the heterosexual romantic arc played out in every book, play, film and TV show ever. Two characters of the same gender creates a different dynamic. There are different "rules" to play with.

Two guys boning gets some guys off. I think you'd need to classify that you're a heterosexual male in order for that statement to mean anything, y'know? Not that that would even mean anything because my straight brother enjoys the occasional slash.

I read somewhere once (can't remember where, but it was probably a meta post on livejournal) that lots of girls like writing slash because it removes the gender stereotypes perpetuated by society in heterosexual relationships, except it doesn't really work out because generally, one of the characters will take on the traditional female role anyway, to an extent. I don't know how true it is, I just thought it was interesting.

Personally, I like slash, especially in fanfiction. Generally, in most fandoms, the het pairings are focused on more in canon, so it's nice to have an opportunity to explore the non-heterosexual relationships, especially when they are arguably more appealing than the canon het pairings. tehe

I like slash. It's interesting, it's hot, and I love reading about adorable gay couples in love. In Love 'Nuff said.

Oh yes, definitely yes. Happy face
But they're so much rarer, and mostly they tend to be side or background pairings, which is sad.
