I feel like it's hard for me to make my writing flow. I also have trouble with my use of commas and making my sentences too long.

Dialogue is probably my biggest weakness. For every sentence of dialogue I write there's probably about four pages of descriptions. Facepalm

Also moving the plot along. I'll usually end up having stories that are almost half filler. That one started when I stopped doing huge plot outlines and has gotten worse and worse as my plots became more vague though so it shouldn't be as hard to remedy.

For my original fictions, I don't describe enough. Surroundings, looks, etc. I spend too much time on dialogue and character development, which is fine and all, except most my OF's are science fiction or fantasy and the world really, really needs to be described xD

Faking tact. POV character raised by diplomat and is a highly visible impartial judge, so while describing a character as fat would be expedient and accurate, it's probably not what she would go with. So, just expect to spend a lot of time with the thesaurus and contemplate all the connotations before choosing one.

I would say too much description, but I think description is my strong point in writing so it’s not too bad. What I’m really bad at is making my first person character believable. I have this horrible obsession with turning every first person character into a posh and well spoken character, whatever their background (which is odd, since I’m definitely not posh or well spoken in person). My characters always refer to parents as their ‘mother and father’ and speak in a very dramatic way.

I also avoid dialogue at all costs. The majority of my stories have about two lines of dialogue at maximum.

I am the exact opposite. I could write an entire story in dialogue. My problem is that I use a lot of dialogue and hardly any description. I reread my stories and then I'm like, "I hope my readers can picture all of this."

I've read two of your stories and I thought they had just the right amount of description, but that's just me. Cool

    Thanks Very Happy
I guess it’s just when I’ve finished and I realise that I’ve basically left it all to the character to describe every other reaction from the characters around them, and each bit of the scene.

I should probably start practising my dialogue though... Unsure

Starting a story. I want to write a captivating beginning, but nothing is coming to me for this new story I have in mind.

I'm pretty happy with the amount of description I have, except when it comes to the POV character. If it's first person, I almost never give any details about what the main character looks like. It's because I don't like pausing the action to describe things. It's easier to embed description of new characters or scenery upon their introduction, but the main character is there from the beginning.

Also, finishing things. I've started a million stories, and maybe completed one or two that weren't short stories.

I tend to tell rather than show. -sighs- I don't have a very big vocabulary list and it can be a burden. I feel that my grammar and punctuation is all right. Spelling is generally well, though there are some words that I cannot spell and I always use Word for. I need to learn how to spell some of those tricky words.

I can't start stories. First chapters are a train wreck, though I like to believe I am good at it. It's hard creating flawed OC characters. I write fan fiction, which makes it easy for the band members, but I can't create a believable OC. I'm working on it, though.

I really dislike taking the time to plot stories out. I can't think outside of the box. This is the main reason I have nothing posted, for I can't stick with a story and finish it.

Sex scenes become awkward when I have to put emotion and whatnot in it. I'm not a very touchy feely person, and lovey dovey things kill me, but who wants to read a romance without intimacy and whatnot? See. I can't even talk about this without feeling awkward, 'and whatnot' xtwo. ._.

My OC characters are either boring, borderline insane or bitchy. .-.

That's all I can think of right now.

On the romance thing...Romance stories don't have to involve sex at all, especially if you feel uncomfortable, awkward, ect...writing them. You can write about a romantic relationship that is non-sexual, un-requited love and such. It doesn't always have to be sexual, and you shouldn't make it so just because that might be what others prefer.
    ______

I have such a problem with ending stories. It tends to come off sounding weird to me, but thankfully I've gotten much better recently. I also have major trouble finishing anything.

I don't mind writing sex scenes. I can do that, just not intimate and romantic .-. I can make them dirty and hot, but not romantic. -sigh-

Wow, I fail. lmfao I read what you said wrong. But I'm the opposite of you. I have trouble with the actual sex scenes. I may try and up that skill, possibly, but I find it so awkward and would prefer romantic to sexual. XD

Really? Hmm. I assumed most people were okay with dirty sex scenes. >_> I don't really find dirty smut awkward x3 the romantic, intimate "I love you" sex scenes make me squrim. I guess I'm not a very romantic person. Sad

My weakness is fanficiton in general.
I never feel like I'm right for it. The character exists, they are their own person...
Me trying and write about them doing certain things is like not only kind of lying ('cause it never happened) but I also feel like I'm forcing them to act a way they might not act in real life.
In my opinion, writing Fanfiction is just like playing God xD

I always write romance. Even if it's a fantasy or tragedy. They will always be some lovin' in my story. I also have a problem with describing things. hen I first started writing I described everything, EVERYTHING in detail. Now, apparently, I don't do it enough.

What you just said right there. XD I feel the exact same way. I'm just like, "This is going to sound weird. It's not right. They wouldn't do this; it isn't who they are."

If I do write fanfiction I usually write it about something I can write without mentioning any main characters, but an OC in the world of what I'm writing about. Otherwise I find it extremely hard.
