All my characters have a tendency to turn out the same. I have so many whiny girls with problems, and I hate them all, but every time I rewrite they just get whinier and have more problems. My story, Honesty, was meant to be about a girl who '[decides] to take a stand... to cut herself loose from her fear of heartbreak', but all I've really kept from the original character profile is that she throws up when she's overwhelmed Facepalm

    This.
I hate it. Most of my female characters turn out just the same no matter how hard I try to get them to be different. Even their appearances seem to be similar sometimes. Like one of those, I just get to writing it and don't realize how similar they are until I go back and reread both.

I totally have weakness in thinking of angsty stuff. It totally takes a long time for me to think of a tragic scene and such. I'm weak-hearted that way. Sad

I also go on indefinite hiatuses frequently and I'd abandon my stories. I'm bad that way.

And I think I lost my spark on making interesting turn of events in a story. I want that to come back again! -cries in a corner-

I haven't tried making smut scenes in actual stories yet. Sure, in roleplays (back in the day) yes, but in stories? I don't think so. And obviously only between two men. I don't know how to do het. And gah, I can't write in detail. It's pretty awkward for me.

Definitely updating. I swear I update things once a month >.>

Beginnings. I have the perfect plot, but I can't seem to write a beginning sentence.

I'm not good at describing their surroundings either. I can't also seem to describe certain things, such a character walking to a fridge. I would write, "She walked to the fridge." For some reason, that just sounds so bland.

Conflict and arguments between characters. I feel like I'm okay with internal struggles and conflicts, but because I'm a very laid-back person and my life isn't dramatic at all, I feel awkward trying to come up with things that people would fight about aside from the stereotypical major things like betrayal and financial problems.

I don't really fight with people. If I don't like someone, I don't hang around them, and if I'm upset with one of my friends, I just take myself out of the situation and don't talk to them for a few days until it cools off. It's hard to write about something that isn't really a part of my life and that I have pretty much no experience with.

    This.

Anything fanfiction is my main weakness. Female OC's will always begin and end the same, and the "famous" character will be... how do I put this.... I don't "stretch" the famous person's character, and so they turn out being very flat as a character, no matter who it is. There isn't depth to their character in my fanfiction. I could take the most interesting man in the world and turn him into a cardboard cut-out. xD

I'm also very critical about my own writing. I'll study subjects in my story for weeks to make sure they are somewhat accurate, and even then they turn out mediocre in my eyes. If this makes sense, I am the main cause for my writer's block.

Finally, I have a strange thing with sequels. I can't write a decent sequel to save my life. I wrote a decent story, and I thought a sequel would be great. NO. It's not great. The first chapter started out awesome! And then everything went downhill after that -__-

I write way too formal for a first person point of view. Everything is so dramatic, angsty and filled with long words despite the fact that all the characters are under thirty. I'll get half way through, or even finish, then I'll read over and it sounds great. But it does not sound like it's being narrated by a fifteen year old. Also all my plots have to have angst. Happiness? I don't understand the meaning of that word.

I have the same problem with my guy characters. They're all kind of dickish, loud, and say witty things. Probably because I find people like that the most fun to write about, so all of them just end up that way.

When there is a lull in action in a story, I have a horrible tendency to just lull in writing style. I'm not excited about what I'm writing, so it ends up as "She did this. He did this. DIALOGUE. Then this happened. Blah blah blah" Boring.

    @ Necromanced.
It's okay. Most professional writers can't make good sequels either. Once you get better at it, you'll be ahead of the game.

Too much dull and pointless dialogue.

All my female OCs seem to be the same.

I hate planning out stories. So when I make myself do it, I get stuck and want to give up.

I can never think of an ending.

Finding a medium between my one-shot writing style and chaptered story style is hard. Facepalm

When I write a short story, I like it to be fairly abstract, emotional, powerful, and mostly focus on language or syntax.

But then, when it comes time to write a chapter story, events are obviously really important. So it becomes fairly difficult for me to be able to employ all of those techniques and make sure that the plot is also advancing and the characters are getting deeper. But too much of the latter makes everything seem monotonous and boring, so I have to try to insert my unique style without adding convolution to the plot- which means a lot of re-reading and editing have to happen, and that sometimes makes me get bored of the story.

Planning too much and not allowing for much leeway. It's the only way I can write, though.

I think the one thing that hinders me the most as a writer is that I put too much head into everything I write, especially if it's a lengthier oneshot, and I end up getting overwhelmed by it because I'm scared it'll never turn out as amazing as I want it to be.

All my girls are strong and independent. All my boys have a huge vicious streak (but never towards the girls, they're just always badasses).

Also I over describe actions, always I can't just say "he stubbed the cigarette out." I have to say things like "He pressed the cigarette into the wall, and dropped the butt to the ground."

I also really struggle to make two POV characters have different voices. I usually start out doing really well, and then I get lazy, and they start to meld together.

I also always plan, and then totally change my plan as I'm writing. Which basically defeats the purpose of a plan.

I've never written a sex scene, lol! I'm horrible with detail, even small details, like minuscule gestures. I'm more of a dialog, move the story along kind of person, but I'm getting better at it. I suck at describing people to. I can make up OC's, but I need a picture to go off of before I can create a character around them.

@Rebell I preferred to read your over described action, not gonna lie XD
