    Why I write comedy:
    - It's always in style
    - It's a blast to write, there are no boundries
    - Laughter is the best medicine

Why I don't (usually) write fanfics:
    - Shows lack of creativity
    - Most have the exact same characters/plot
    - Just not my thing

No offence to anyone who writes fanfics

    Why I write FanFic:

    - Because I can be extremely creative with it
    - Because I want to write different 'characters'/plots from the norm
    - It helps me practise my writing for my original fics

No offense taken (mostly), but I just wanted to point out that a good fanfiction writer can shape their characters to make them unique and interesting and you, in no way, have to continuously write the same plot. I'm having trouble grasping the concept. How could ever fanfiction writer write the same plot over and over. I mean, there's classic romance plots, but it's never the same plot over and over. I have 199 stories on the site, at least 190 are fanfiction, and I don't think I wrote the same story 190 times.

Also, it's the writer and not the genre that shows creativity. There are some extremely creative fanfics and some extremely not creative original fics. Just because you have to make up characters doesn't make you creative.

I write original fiction (not exclusively, just way more often), because when I joined the site, fan fiction was what I was good at. Well, let me rephrase that. I was poor at it, but I was way worse at original fiction. Then when I improved, fan fiction really lost its novelty, and I found myself feeling restricted when I wasn't writing about people I'd made. When I write original fiction, I just find it so much easier to let the creativity force its way out of me.

I've started planning an epic age difference fic for NaNo because there's something really romantic to me, about age difference fics that aren't based around sex or the younger one relying on the older one for something. They rely on each other equally and love each other equally.

Why I am writing a Harry Potter fan fiction

    - There are many chances to be creative
    - If I want to write it well I have to think very hard
    - Lots of chances with characters who aren't on scene a lot

Why I write original fiction (although none are on Mibba)

    - Free reign
    - Love making 3D characters
    - No boundarys

There are obviously other reasons :)

    I write original fiction because:

    1. It's a great escape from the world around me.
    2. People can finally understand "the real me".
    3. Let's face it, you basically get to play God. Who wouldn't want to do that?

I don't write fan fiction because:

    1. Not much room for me to be creative.
    2. I don't get to make up the characters.
    3. It's cheesy.
    4. Seems like a creepy fan girl thing.
    5. I'm embarrassed to even read fan fiction [except troll fics. Those are hilarious!]

I write original fiction because I love being able to create a dynamic personality for my characters. I know you can in fan fiction, but you still need to stay true to the characters personality in real life, which I'm not a fan of doing.

I write slash because I feel like I know the mind of a guy like the back of my hand. I also think slash has a bit more romantic feel to it. Another reason is I hate to write any sex scenes that involve a vagina. Weird? Yeah, I know. xP

I don't write original fiction because it doesn't mean anything to me. To me, personally, it doesn't feel real, it doesn't have a pulse, it doesn't have emotion. It's nothing I want to be a part of because it's not a part of me.

What about AU? Out of character?
You read any of the decent fanfiction on this site and you know that there is the same amount of room to be creative in fanfiction as there is in original.

    I'm 24. I write fanfic. I don't insert myself. It isn't creepy fangirl thing.

I can be very creative. It's never cheesy. I make up characters.

I write about people who stir something inside - who make me feel something. I write to try and make other people feel it too.

    Does this make sense?

I amn't a creepy fan girl either (in fact I detest crazy fan girls)

I like to take JK Rowlings characters and interpret them into other scenes. I also dont use Harry or Hermione or Ron often (unless it is needed) as they are so directly in the books and I like to stay true to the books.

I think fan fiction has plenty chance to be creative, you just have to creatively think of where you can slot your story. I think this is easier to do with the Harry Potter books as there are so many chances to do this.

Fan fiction is creative as long as you make it so. It can also be very hard to write if you want to weave your story in so it doesn't interupt any of the facts.

Although inserting yourself doesn't necessarily make it a creepy fangirl thing.
At least, I've been told my SIs aren't creepy fangirl because the plot isn't OMG I love him and he takes me on tour lyk OMG.
Therapy SIs are love-- to read and write.

    I write femmeslash because
    1) It comes much more naturally to me
    2) I want to write a femmeslash that isn't all sex or isn't all bubbly and sterotypical (gay girl meets straight girl...)
    3) It's easier for me to write romance between two girls because guy/girl relationships are just...not something I witness or have done. And I have never seen a healthy one, and don't habe great examples. If this makes me a bad writer, then call me guilty.

    I write Original Fiction because
    1) I am a fan of things no one else is
    2) I don't have to worry about sticking to some one that already exists
    3) I don't know Gerard Way or Gaspard Uliel, etc. So I don't feel I know enough about them to write sucessfuly about them
    4) I have more muse and inspiration

    I don't write slash because
    1) Again, I've never seen a healthy guy/guy relationship
    2) I would worry over making the characters too feminine

    I write because
    1) If I didn't I would turn into an emotinal monster one day
    2) It's the only real talent I am at least a little bit good at
    3) It makes my family proud (silly silly reason, but I am just being honest)
    4) It's the only way I can cope while staying in good health

    Why I write fan fiction:
    1. It's entertaining, mainly, by taking your favorite character or person and giving them a whole new life story that appeals you.
    2. I'm more passionate about it than original fiction. I don't know why, but I always find myself stuck in writer's block when writing an Original Fiction story. But with a fan fiction story, I can go on and on without a break.

    Why I write original fiction:
    1. There's no limit what your characters can and can't do.
    2. The world is yours.

I don't write fanfiction because I'm never that invested in anything someone else created. I started out writing fanfiction and found that original fiction was much more satisfying. The only FF I would consider writing is Dark Tower, because it's the most amazing book series ever.

I write original fiction because that's what I read and it makes me happy. There are no preexisting boundaries to writing an original story. The characters come from me and there's no way for me to make them untrue to themselves since only I know who they are, and I know them thoroughly.

I don't write band fiction because it's technically copyright infringement to use a real living person in a work of fiction. And again, I just don't care about any real people enough to fictionalize their lives.

I try to avoid writing about sexuality, because I don't experience sexual feelings and thus I don't really get it. This goes for homosexuality and heterosexuality. Most of my characters are asexual, because I don't know how to do anything else. Writing sex scenes for me is awkward and they generally turn out stupid, and I don't know how to write characters falling in love.

No, it's not. Copyright infringement is the unauthorized use or reproduction of something covered by copyright law. People are not copyrighted.

It can't even really be considered libel unless the person claims the story actually happened and implied it was true, which would be difficult to do as the stories, by definition, are fiction.

I'm not slamming that you don't write it. That's your decision. But it isn't copyright infringement as you claimed.
