    writing on paper.
I just can't write on my laptop right now.
It has to be on paper, the words flow way better then on my computer.

I can write on paper, but I have to finish it on the computer. I prefer writing on a laptop than a computer. And I usually write when I'm procrastinating, so in between homework is the best time.

I get writers' block a lot, whether it's from writing songs for my band, or writing fic on mibba. What I do to overcome it, is: sometimes I use prompts, to write a short story about a certain picture or situation, or even an emotion; sometimes I look out of my window onto the street and imagine where the people are going, and that develops into a backstory and I can usually fit these characters into the negative space in my writing.

Writing on paper does help a lot, as does doodling and taking notes when the inspiration comes.

This so much. Give me an old Biology notebook that's only half full and a #2 pencil, and I'll be set until my hand falls off.

I have the absolute biggest one of my life so far, and it's a shame because I won't have this much time on my hands forever. Ugh, I just want to write so bad and it makes me feel so bad that I can't. No I need to get my "special notebook" out, it's my only hope.

I find my genius comes at night. Like dead in the middle of the night. Why I'm awake at that time, don't ask, but that's when the magic happens.

I also love the podcast Writing Excuses. It's done by these really goofy writers, and the things they talk about are really legitimate. Two of them are published authors; one is a a professional comic strip writer. They end each podcast with a writing prompt, which I haven't actually followed through with, ever, but listening to them talk about different aspects of writing gets me excited about stories I already have in progress, and I can usually apply whatever it is the last episode was about to my current writing which is pretty great. I highly recommend it.

I know this might sound stupid and obvious, but--keep your eyes and ears open for inspiration!
I had a terrible case of full-on writers block for nearly two years, I just couldn't find ANYTHING to write about, and if I did, I usually gave up on it right after the first line of the entire story. Then, one day I found a bird's nest in our window, with baby birds in it. Unfortunately, none of the birds ended up surviving very long. Although it made me sad, I suddenly had the perfect idea for writing a story. I just finished the first chapter and I haven't given up since.

Every time I'm ready to write I always freeze up. So I'm just sitting there with my fingers on the keyboard and staring at the computer screen.

I listen to music. Sometimes lyrics can spark an idea.
I also have to update every other day because I know I wont keep up with a story if I'm not continuously writing it. If nothing comes to mind I sit on the computer and try out different things until I'm happy with it.

As soon as I think of the idea, I have to immediately put it down in fear of forgetting what my train of thought was or in the fear that the writer's block will continue within me.

The way that I cure my writer's block is by walking around my neighborhood. Sometimes I listen to music and sometimes I just walk with my thoughts; oh and my dog always accompanies me! Razz

    I do these ones:

    1) Listen to a song or piece, and let the lyrics, meaning, or emotion sink in, then think of how to put it into the story.

    2) Watch a dance. Dances are so beautiful and emotional, and you can think of a character feeling that way, and before you know it, it turns into a reason why, and a situation, and could progress into an entire chapter.

    3) If you're a visual artist, draw a character, or some characters together. Let the emotions on their faces, the setting, or their positions give you ideas.

    4) Fix your writers block by writing! Paradox~ Look back on something, maybe a chapter far off, a back story event, or even just the last thing you managed to write, and think up each character's view point of what's happening. What things look like, what they're thinking, how the atmosphere of the surroundings strikes them, etc. This can actually make a huge difference if you have two characters in one place or partaking in an activity, because whether or not they agree on what their surroundings are like could create conflict or comfort between them. Two people enjoying the orange glowing of the light in the room and feeling safe together are much different from a philanthropist and misanthropist walking on a busy city sidewalk with neither able to conceive how the other could hold their opinion. Thoughts are also the motivation of action, so writing what they think can tell you what they might do next.

Another thing that can block me is completely the opposite of what you would think. Rather than having no ideas, I have so many ideas on how something could go that I don't know what to do, in which case, I right many different possibilities and choose which one to include in the actual writing.

I'm going to stop typing now :D

I never used to have writer's block. I was just that kind of person who always had an idea and would find inspiration everywhere. Though I did have my fair share of boredom with my writing. However, I had severe writer's block rather recently and it lasted for more or less two years.

Nothing I really did would help which leads me to believe that there is a difference in how deep the block goes. To cure that major one I had to get a different job - that big of a change was necessary because nothing else helped. Whilst now it's like it used to be - meaning I will just sometimes get bored or feel uninspired but if I just leave it be I'll find inspiration again any second.

Sometimes I have the ideas; I just can't word them right. When I have NO ideas though, I play some mindless game like solitaire (computarised) and end up with some pretty boss things running through my mind.

i get it a lot when i feel pressured by people do get it done. there are a few people in real life who get excited and when i do let something slip they start getting on my back about finishing it. i just have to leave it for a while until the pressure is off. that's really the only time i get writers block anymore.

I get it when I have no school homework, it's only when I'm super busy that my brain decides that "HEY! Get on the computer and ignore your homework and write a chapter!"

I love the way my mind works. Disgust
