It was like... I dunno. It was, for loss of a better word, demonic.
It had no specific animal characteristic... but it wasn't like a dog, or anything I've ever heard.
Hmph. I'm not really sure what to think or say about that. I would think that it was some other animal from another plane...but, I still don't know.

As much as the paranormal fascinates me, it also scares me shitless. It's completely crazy.

One night we were all at my friend's dad's and a few of the kids there noticed a spirit or something walk from the window across the living room. I wasn't one of the kids that saw it, so I asked about it the next morning, and they said it was an older man that they had never seen before. Creepy.

And most nights I have that feeling that something is watching me in my room while I try to fall asleep.

I get scared sometimes, too. It isn't really anything to be scared of. Spirits can't hurt you physically, even if they want to. If you show that you're scared, they're just going to keep tormenting you, which I find hilarious.

What kind of a feeling, other than fright, do you get when you think something's watching you? Do you feel uncomfortable, or unprotected? Or do you feel safe?

Yeah, kind of uncomfortable. Just that feeling you get when people are starting at you, you know?

But then the next day I'll wake up, think and about it, and think like "wow, that's kinda cool" or something like that.

Well, that's not so bad. It's good that you think somewhat positive about it the next morning. Maybe you should take that uncomfortable feeling and turn it around.

Not exactly, there are some cases where people feel an invisible force pushing them down stairs, choking them, etc. I watch the show Ghost Hunters religiously, and one of the investigators got pushed to the ground. Granted, he wasn't hurt, but it really freaked him out, and I'd freak out too, if it happened to me.

I'm pretty much obsessed with the paranormal, haha. And also, some ghosts do get a kick out of scaring you, it's true, but some don't even know they're dead. I think it's called a "residual haunting". They don't know that you're there, and just go about what they're usually doing because they're unaware they've passed on. Or, they know that you're there and don't give a damn, and they're going to do whatever they want (yes, I'm aware I sound like a know-it-all :XD)

I've had tons of experiences since I was a little girl, which got me interested in this topic. Although my passion is writing, I wouldn't mind becoming a paranormal investigator. But I do get pretty creeped out at times, I'd have to get a little more braver before going into that occupation.

Ghost Hunters isn't exactly a show you should rely on for learning about the paranormal. You can't even see what they see. It's all television.

And yeah, some spirits don't realize they're dead, and don't leave the physical plane. My mom practices Shamanism, so I learn more of this stuff from her.

Not everyone can see spirits, you really have to have an eye for it. My mom tells me all the time that I have an eye for seeing them. Sometimes I'm thankful, other times, I'm scared shitless. XD

Even though I've had little expiriences with the paranormal myself, I do believe something is out there. Only, with my beliefs, I'm a little more scientific and not so quick to label (no offence meant. I just feel uncomfortable immediately calling something a ghost or anything like that). For an example, I'm a firm believer in energy and its tranference. I mean, when a person dies... That energy has to go somewhere. Energy can't be destroyed- it can be transferred, but never shunted out of existance. For me, energy is proof of a soul.

Probably the only truly paranormal expirience I've had so far was at an old house my parents and I lived in for awhile. It wasn't really that old- it was probably built around the 1950's-1970's. The kitchen was upstairs, and all the bedrooms were on the ground floor. Now, at night, I swear I could hear footsteps walking up and down the hallways. Plus, doors used to open and shut randomly at night, and the power in one wall completely failed for no apparent reason. Now I'm aware that it could have been the work of the local wildlife and such but, to my mind, it was something not quite right.

Also, if we're going to count getting bad vibes as a paranormal occurance... I once lived in a beach house that was built on land that was not legitimately gained (the people who wanted it set fire to the trees occupying the area so they could buy it for developement purposes). That house seriously fucked me up. I had my first panic attack in that house, plus it always left me with a horrible feeling in my chest cavity whenever I had to return there. I always felt completely isolated in that house, and my temperment completely changed while I was there. It sounds childish to say this, but... In that house, I felt evil. I really did.

There. My 2 cents. Do with them what you will....

Quite the contrary. I've learned a lot about the paranormal from that show. But also from reading about it in books, looking it up online, etc. I've been obsessed with it for years. Come to think of it, I think there might be a spirit in the house. Last night I was hearing so much things in my room, I couldn't fall asleep. And it's happened before. I heard breathing, and it sounded like someone was walking around, and my stuff was rattling, papers were being rustled, and the window was closed and the heater wasn't on. One time when I was trying to fall asleep, I felt cold air being blown on my face, once again my window was closed and the furnace was off. it was really bizarre. It's been happening since we moved in.

To Ze Real Cookie Factory: I've heard that spirits (ghosts, entity's, whatever you want to call them; they're all the same thing) suck out the energy from electrical devices as a way of manifesting themselves. Which could explain the power failure. I've never heard of houses making people evil, but it was probably just bad energy. I guess one of our old houses had something "demonic" in it. That's what my mom told me, at least. I was about two years old living in this house, so I don't remember a thing. Only from what my mom has told me.

You have to practice at controling your dreams, to be able to do it.

My mother had a very personal experience in an apartment she once lived in: When she moved in there before she had children with my father(now her ex) The cat would meow at the walls for no apparent reason. My father sat on a chair and water came pouring out of the bottom while the chair was totally dry. One night she was sleeping and something touching her shoulder woke her up so she turned around and there was this man with a tie and a beard sitting on a chair rubbing her shoulder. My mother freaked out and woke my father, but the man was gone. It turned out that a man who lived thier previously had been a criminal and killed himself at least 3 weeks before they moved in. My mother moved out right after the man-on-the-chair incident.

I have also heard strange voices and conversations in my room when everyone is asleep. Very scary. But our house is 102 years old, I expect there to be spirits and ghosts. And there was also a pocession incident a while back in near our town but that was in the 1800's.

Lucid dreaming trips me out. Lately every time I have a dream, I say to myself, "this isn't real, I'm dreaming", and I wake up. That's been happening practically every single night, and I never realize it until the end. It's kinda strange. And all my dreams are very vivid, so when I wake up I think it all happened, even though the reason I woke up was because I knew it wasn't real.

Like a couple weeks ago. I dreamt my uncle shot himelf in the head right in front of me, and in the dream I thought "am I dreaming?", and then I woke up. But I was a bit out of it. I almost got out of bed and asked my mom what we were going to do about the funeral. Unsure

    That's...odd. Amazing, but odd.
You should tap into that a lot more often. Don't tell yourself you're dreaming, but try turning the dream around by controlling yourself and what you do.

Well, I don't believe in ghosts, persay, but a few years back, my family and I were visiting an old fort near my house, and there were all these rooms underneath the actual fort that were used to house explosives. Anyway, we were walking through these hallways and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a boy run past me. I thought it was one of my brothers so I started to chase him. He went into one of the rooms and I followed him ( I still thought it was one of my brothers), but as soon as I got in the room, there was no one there. Then I saw him again, and it was a young guy, looked to be in his mid-teens, with a civil war era uniform on. It was creepy.

I also get premonitions too. It can be odd.

It's hard to say that you don't believe in ghosts when you witnessed one with your own eyes.

The only thing close to paranormal I've ever felt is the woman supposedly haunting the third floor in my school. The school building is about 100 years old, and there's stories of people outside of the school and the school area who have seen her / felt her / heard her. It was really late and I was alone in the third floor hallway, and everything was dark. I just sat down in the middle of it and curled up, 'cause I was having a bad night, and I saw something to my left. Then I just felt something pressing against me very hard, and I felt like I couldn't breathe, like it was suffocating me. As soon as it was gone, I staggered and ran away. I asked my art teacher and she told me the other stories.

I fully believe in the paranormal, I have had more experiences than I care to list but I have seen a lot in my time.

The first is when I was about 7 or 8 years old. We lived in a 3 bedroom house. My sister was in the first and front room, my brother in the back, I was in the middle. And of course, we had an attic. The only way in was through my brother's room and he never went up there anyway. So one night, I was laying in bed and I kept hearing something banging around in the attic. I wasn't sure what it was, but it was keeping me awake. I kept hearing it over and over. So I got up and went to my brother's room, 'cause my first reaction was that he was trying to annoy me. But he was asleep and I could still hear it. Eventually I just went to bed and I never did hear it again.

Next; I went to school the day my grandmother passed away. I had computer class at the end of the day and we were in charge of shutting down the computers for the day. We did and as the afternoon announcements came on before dismissal, I saw her reflection in my computer screen and felt something touch my shoulder. When I looked back, she was gone.

One night, my brother and I were sitting down stairs a few years ago and we kept hearing footsteps upstairs. No one was up there and no one lived next door to us as this is after my grandfather left. He went upstairs to investigate and found nothing. While he was still up there, I happened to glance in the front room, where there is a mirror that you can see from the couch in the living room. I saw some kind of figure in it. I'm not totally positive what it was, but I went flying up the stairs after I saw it, only to find my brother running out the bathroom about as scared as I was, into his bedroom where he collapsed onto the floor for a good 5 minutes claiming he could not move. He eventually got up and we tried to figure out what it was, but no avail.

After I moved, I was told by my brother that one night that he saw a couple of shadow-like figures at his house at night time. I didn't believe him at first.
...not until I went to see for myself and I saw one of them. I left, I was scared. I slept with the light on.

Some nights when I'm by myself in my room and the lights are out, I can sense something in the same room with me. You know how some people get that sorta sensation when they feel like someone is in the same room with them? It's that thing. It feels like I'm not alone and I'm being watched. I look around and try to let my eyes adjust to the dark. Sometimes I think I something, but I'm never really sure. I make for the nearest source of light whenever I see something that startles me. There's only a couple times I think I've spotted something that truly was there when I'd be laying bed. I'm not really sure if I honestly did or if my mind was playing tricks on me. But lately I've been pretty petrified of total darkness.

At JREF, we offer a one-million-dollar prize to anyone who can show, under proper observing conditions, evidence of any paranormal, supernatural, or occult power or event. The JREF does not involve itself in the testing procedure, other than helping to design the protocol and approving the conditions under which a test will take place. All tests are designed with the participation and approval of the applicant. In most cases, the applicant will be asked to perform a relatively simple preliminary test of the claim, which if successful, will be followed by the formal test. Preliminary tests are usually conducted by associates of the JREF at the site where the applicant lives. Upon success in the preliminary testing process, the "applicant" becomes a "claimant."

To date, no one has passed the preliminary tests.
Maybe it's just your brain playing tricks with you? Most of the examples here start with "It was dark...", "Before I went to bed...", "I was alone...", "Someone said something about this house...", "Someone died (stress)..."...
