My mom and I are going to start doing Zumba.
She has a friend at work who does it and the lady burns 900 calories a session.
It's basically just dancing, so I'm excited.
It's so fun but so exhausting.
The first few times I did it, my legs were like jelly the next day. tehe
Ah! I hope that doesn't happen to me! I have to work the next day, and I stand all day.

For anyone who's interesting in either losing or gaining weight... MyFitnessPal. You can keep track of all the food you eat and exercise you do each day here, which can help a lot with weight loss/gain.

I'm on my first proper day of using it. XD Aiming to lose about 33lbs. Hopefully it should work for once. Mr. Green "Hopefully" being the operative word. XD
I do the exact same routine. But every week i increase the length of the duration. It's really great. My first week i did 20 minutes each, the following 40, and now an hour. it's really nice.

Any suggestions for curbing sweet cravings without eating sugar replacements?
I LOVE chocolate... but I hate myself when I eat it.

^ You could try sugar-free low fat hot chocolate, that's what my mum does, she goes to Weight Watchers and it's a point system, she has one a few times a week. Cute

When I was trying to cut down on chocolate, I used to have a small container with 3/4 dried fruit and 1/4 dark chocolate pieces.
The fruit was enough to satisfy my sugar cravings, but I just adored chocolate so much that I couldn't cut it out completely. XD

Also, frozen yogurt is an amazing snack to satisfy a sweet tooth. Happy face

I am trying to lose weight right now, and one thing I've found is don't cut the stuff out completely. Let Saturday or Sunday be your "free" day in which you indulge in a SMALL sweet or salty or against-your-diet item. Don't eat the whole bag of chips or the whole container of ice cream, but eat a little bit, enough to satisfy your craving. Do this on the same day every week, and that way you can have a taste of your cake and diet too!
As far as exercising goes, do a wide variety of workouts to see what you like the best. I've bought exercise videos and books, and I've found that I love pilates, biking, dance, and figure skating (which I've been doing for ten years now, and it is great exercise!) I hope this helps! Good luck in your quest!

Fruit works a lot. Especially really sweet fruits such as raspberries or strawberries, but, be careful not to solely eat fruits because even too much healthy sugar can be bad.

When I was in 7th grade (going in to 11th now) I was around 112-116 lbs & 5'3, super active, and ate decent (junk at my dads & health shit at moms; I don't mind either). The summer before 8th grade I got really lazy & did NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. So I kept this up in 8th grade & started gaining a mass amount of weight. By the end of 8th grade I weighed 145 lbs & was 5'4. That's around a 30 lb weight gain in less that 9 months.

Come freshman year. I get ridiculed for being my size even though I wasn't huge just chubby, (I live in Miami so beautiful, skinny, & tan is what you "have" to be) so I decide I want to lose weight. I wanted to be around 125 lbs. I thought I would be happy with that. I basically got rid of every meal aside from dinner because my parents couldn't know I was basically starving myself. The starving only lasted for about 2-3 months. I was 135 lbs & same height. Only 10lbs. I gave up figuring I wasn't going to lose anymore weight & I was going to be 'fat" forever.

Sophomore year came, I grew so I am now 5'5, but I didn't lose or gain any weight. So I started going out with a guy named Ken & this becomes my first relationship. Instead of feeling good about myself because he loved me I still felt fat. So I started doing some research & the "vegan diet" came up. I had been a vegetarian for a brief amount of time in 8th grade, so I figured I would try the vegan diet. I did the vegan diet for a four months, got down to 119 lbs. I went to vegetarian & still lost a bit of weight.

I am now 114 lbs. I am almost underweight. I hardly eat much & around 12 pm I get lightheaded almost every day. I'm still not happy with my weight, even though people call me skinny. Don't go too overboard with weight loss. Being skinny isn't all it's cracked up to be. Be fit & healthy.

I lost 16kgs (like 32pounds) in a year and a half by eating much slower, cutting down on bread, coke and completely cutting out crisps. But I eat everything else. Chocolate, cake, biscuits, dessert, everything.

I can't stick to a diet, anymore, for the life of me. It's weird, because I used to starve myself in eighth grade. I gained weight recently. Maybe it's more mental, like I'm using sweets to cope. Gah >.<

A few months ago I lost about 14 pounds, but I stopped drinking my water and I got lazy. Now I'm back up to a little over 70kg.

Today's a brand new start! I've 40 pounds to lose, and a year to do it.

I used to use something similar to that, based on Livestrong.com. However when I was at uni I was so busy that I'd forget to input my food on there and didn't have time for regular excercise. XD It's a really good site, though. It taught me how much and what I could eat to stay under 1,500 calories a day, and now I rarely go above that by habit. Apart from binge days, which happen to most people tehe

I'm trying to cut out stuff like cheese, bread and white rice/pasta, but it's all my mother buys so it's a nightmare Facepalm Apparently caffiene makes it harder to regulate weight loss/stability too, so I'm trying to cut that out. Hopefully when I'm back at uni and can control what I have in my cupboards it won't be a problem. I'm also starting running three times a week - has anyone else done the Couch to 5K plan?

^ That Couch to 5K thing looks amazing. Wow I've been thinking about starting running regularly before I leave for college, and that's just the push I needed. Thanks for the link! I'm starting next week.

I don't think the pills that make you feel full all the time are healthy for your body. You can cut down on meals, but still, you should eat every day. I've never had to lose weight, but I still know what the logical things to do are when wanting to accomplish the goal of losing weight.

Instead of thinking what you aren't going to eat, think of what you are going to eat. For example, if you say to yourself, "I'm not going to eat ice cream. I'm not going to eat ice cream." All you're going to do is make yourself want to eat ice cream more. So, I think it helps if you say, instead of that, "Yum, let me think of that delicious pomegranate that I'll eat when I get home! I can't wait to drink the juice and eat it!"

That's what I've always thought helped. XD

Also, don't drink your calories. I know soda pop is positively awesome, but still, if you drink it constantly, you're going on the wrong path. Once a week is my maximum, and I've been doing pretty well for drinking soda, as I used to drink it all the time when I was younger. It's a quick and easy way to gain calories and get addicted to soda.

At least sixty minutes of exercise each day should help keep you fit. Bike rides, an elliptical, swimming, jogging--those all really help.

Also, when you're taking a walk--it's better to do 20 minutes of power walking than 40 minutes of regular walking. To tell you the truth, walking at a regular speed doesn't do you much good. Sure, you burn calories, but not as many if you were power walking.

I found delicious fat free yogourt today.

Seriously. I'm a HUGE yogourt fan but I can't eat high sugar foods because it messes me up, so we're trying plain, non-fat yogourts... and fat free greek yogourt is delicious. It's seriously a party in your mouth. mhmm.

That was a silly side note. Weight loss wise- My mom's lost 40 pounds in about 6 months. I'm super proud of her. She used a food diary for about 6 weeks and started some healthy habits and it works amazingly.

I've been able to stay within 123-127 pounds (generally 125.5lbs) since sixth grade, and I'm now entering my freshman year. I was so uncomfortable with my weight because my mom kept telling me "Don't eat so much, you'll get fat!" since I was in fourth grade and a lot of the girls were around 72 pounds in fourth grade while I was 80-90lbs because I have a larger body. Now, I treasure my body because I have a small waist and my hips are wide, so while jeans aren't the most flattering unless they cling to me and shirts are often accompanied by undershirts, I've never been on a diet and I'm proud of my weight.

For weight loss, however, I'd say eat slower and start with small portions. If you get hungrier, put more, but don't start out with a large portion.
