  • ^It could be that you're also at the tipping point between muscle/fat ratio. You're likely gaining muscle faster than you're losing fat, it will change your weight.

    Going by weight is typically a bad plan if you're exercising, try to measure successes in appearance rather than weight.

  • ^ Yeah, I am going to try and do it like that as well. I do find that I can sometimes become a bit obsessive when weighing myself (sometimes doing it every morning) but I think going by how things fit (like some things are definately bigger) is probably a better way of doing it.

    I have lost about eleven pounds recently, all from simply changing my diet and excersising on my crosstrainer every night varying between fifteen minutes or forty. (rarely forty minutes to be honest though, I'm not a fan of exercising but just do it because I have too tehe)

    Anyway, I've been eating exactly the same, probably putting even more effort into crosstraining etc, but am not losing any weight anymore?! I don't know whether it's simply because I'm on my period at the moment and I know that can sometimes do funny things with your weight, or because I've just reached a plateu. Does anyone have any tips for being able to break that, because losing 11 pounds was literally just to get rid of the stuff I gained when leaving school, and I've still got another 8 pounds or so to go until I'll be happy.

    As far as if it's really a plateau, I've read somewhere that you need to switch up your exercises to something different because if you do the same exercises with no variation for a long period of time, you hit a plateau. So maybe trying something else to do would help.

  • You can try aerobics of some sort. It's a lot of jumping around, but it can be done in a small space. There's a lot of different, easy kinds to do, that don't require equipment.

    I'm on my first proper day of using it. XD Aiming to lose about 33lbs. Hopefully it should work for once. Mr. Green "Hopefully" being the operative word. XD

If you look under interactive tools and make yourself an account, you can track the food you eat and the exercise you do, but it also analyzes more your recommended calories and nutrients (based on sex, height, and weight) compared to what you've taken in. It's got all of the vitamins, minerals, and everything all broken down, and it also analyzes your physical activity.

  • When I lost weight, most people would always ask me what kind of magical thing I did. And they'd be shocked when I told them I wasn't on a restricted diet. I just did what people are "supposed to do" - I cut back on portion sizes and exercised more (but still healthily). I didn't cut out all bad foods; I ate them less and less as time went on (like, I didn't just stop eating chocolate altogether, I just had some once every few days instead of every day).

    I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I find the more I exercise and eat right, the less junk food appeals to me Think

    I'm not sure if I should post this here, but does anyone want to be my buddy in this? I need some moral support in this since all my other friends have an awesome metabolism and don't need to diet :l

  • i just recently started exercising more, as well as eating healthier and controlling how much I eat.
    So far, I have seen some results and I'm happy about that. My goal is to drop at least fifty pounds by the time fall rolls around.
    I'm planning on enlisting in the Navy around that time or early next year, so I have to be fit.
    I joined a gym and I love it. I go to the classes they offer and they are awesome.
    They have: core camp, pilates, yoga, Zumba, cycle, athletic training.
    I take a few of those classes throughout the week, and I try to go at least every day to work out.
    I'm now able to last longer than before. I used to not be able to run for very long, but now I'm able to run an entire lap around the track by my house without stopping.
    I am proud of myself. The only thing that I'm not proud of is that I have yet to quit smoking. But I'm gradually trying to stop that.

  • You have to want to lose weight.
    Like, I used to go on all these drastic diets and say 'oh yeah, I want to lose weight. I totally want to drop two stone.' but I actually kind of didn't. Now I really do and I've started just doing some running at home, eating wholemeal bread and fruit and it's made a lot of difference. Allow yourself a sugary snack once a day or something but don't go cold turkey because you'll snap. I know I did!Don't trust BMI. It's rubbish. Also, you can't get yourself down if you put on a pound or something - your weight changes from day to day. You just have to keep at it.

    My friend recently gave me this diet that supposedly good for mass.What do you think about it and possibly change what you do?
    First meal - 80 grams rolled oats + banana + 200 ml milk 0.5%

    Second meal - Cocktail Strawberry - Cheese (100 gram strawberry + 250 gram a semifat cheese)

    Thirth meal - Cocktail apple - cheese - oatmeal (cottage cheese 150 grams , 150 grams of oatmeal, an apple, a tablespoon of honey)

    Fourth meal - whole wheat pasta with cheese and broccoli (pasta 100 grams, 200 grams of thin cheese, cream 12% - 10 grams + broccoli, olive oil)

    V and VI of the meal - rice and chicken (100 grams of brown rice, chicken fillet 150 gram + vegetables + tbsp flaxseed oil)

  • I've wanted to lose weight for so long.

    I'm just not very good at it. I'm an 'all or nothing' sort of person, so that means I either eat all the food I can get or hardly any at all. About a year back, I went on a 600 calorie a day diet. Inevitably, I would binge during the evenings and eat all the calories I had been depriving myself of during the day within the 'binge'. I only managed to lose half a stone on the diet (I got down to 98 lbs, by the way), and of course, when I started eating more, I gained it all back and actually ended up at 126 lbs four months later.

    Yeah, so I learnt my lesson from that.

    2. Have one meal per day be a big salad and make your own salad dressing from mustard, a bit of honey and red wine vinegar. Have a slice of whole grain bread (no butter) with your salad
    3. Drink nothing but fresh water--no sodas, and cut way back on beer or wine or other alcoholic beverages--and drink nothing that contains high fructose corn syrup
    4. Let your snacks be low calorie such as pretzels, apple slices, grapes, carrot strips. No fast food (too high in fats, sugars, and salt)
    5. Eat a good breakfast such as oatmeal, whole grain cereal and fresh fruit
    6. Walk or swim or do a treadmill or elliptical for 30 minutes 4-7 times/week.

  • I love weight watchers, because I can still eat the food I love, it just means I have to be super healthy for the rest of the day. Plus, if I've had a really healthy week, I'll have extra points stored up and I can totally treat myself.
    I really think that anyone who teams weight watchers up with regular exercise is going to see results. And is going to learn how to have a much healthier lifestyle.
    And I just realised that I sound like one of those annoying people on adverts. lmfao Facepalm

    Another tip for people trying to lose weight: Eat slowly.
    I've started eating with chopsticks (because I'm terrible at using them) and because I'm eating so slowly, the food's really getting a chance to settle and I find I'm full after eating only half of what I'd normally eat. File

    She has a friend at work who does it and the lady burns 900 calories a session.
    It's basically just dancing, so I'm excited.

    I agree with pretty much everything apart from the first point. I'm a vegetarian and I'm not a big cheese fan so it's not an issue for me, but I know there are definitely some people who can eat dairy and meat in their diet and still maintain health. Dairy and meat isn't necessarily unhealthy, it really depends on the cuts of meat you're eating and they type of dairy products.
